What if everything you thought you knew was just an illusion?
Everything in Zoey's life was destroyed the day her fiance never made it home from the war. Now being a year later, and still dealing with the horrible tragedy, she makes a move to New York City for her job, hoping to finally start healing.
The last thing Zoey ever expects to find is someone she can feel so comfortable and happy with. Everything about Harvey draws her attention, and she can finally feel herself heal. There are times things seem too perfect, but she tries not to question it much as she holds onto the passion she has for him.
When everything unravels and Zoey is forced to face a truth she can't seem to grasp, she has to make a choice to finally move on, or stay lost in a world of illusion.
Sometimes life is simple, sometimes love is unexpected. Sometimes we're exactly where we need to be, when we need to be there. Then sometimes everything we thought we knew is just an illusion.

Well, it’s actually quite hard to review a book like this without giving away spoilers which would totally ruin this one for you and we don’t want that. I really want you all to experience this one just the way the author intends – you have to go in blind not knowing what to expect. Go with the flow and just let it happen, that’s all I can say.
We begin with Zoey at the funeral of her fiancé who has been killed by an IED and never made it home to allow them to embark on the life that they had mapped out together. It’s an incredibly poignant scene as the depth of Zoey’s sorrow and despair is beautifully portrayed by the author. Despite the fluidity of the scene, Zoey is almost frozen in time right at the centre, completely lost to her grief – a broken woman. Zoey’s life is in tatters – from this moment on, she’s no longer living, merely existing. She broke my heart – her pain is a tangible thing and it was difficult to read.
A year or so further down the line and Zoey is relocated to New York City by the company she works for and, after fighting that all-encompassing depression, she decides that this will be a new beginning for her and she decides to embrace life. From this moment on, I began to disconnect a little with the story – she meets a whole host of new people including the highly-appropriately named Harvey and begins dating him. I was a bit non-plussed by this unbelievably perfect new relationship and even more horrified at the things that Zoey does. Every thing here is picture perfect, it doesn’t ring true and I find myself really quite disliking Zoey for her actions. I was starting to lose it and, if I’m honest, I almost gave up.
But, and it’s a big BUT, you will need to persevere as this book is not called Illusion for no reason. Expect the unexpected and just allow it to happen for you. I have to say that this is a highly original novel, although it doesn't appear that way for a long time and I really must applaud Ashley Beale for coming up with something very original and pretty unexpected. From this point onwards, the novel is gripping and I was utterly spellbound. Zoey still broke my heart and yet I still wanted to wring her neck but it’s a dark and difficult ride. Could it be true? The author had me guessing for the longest time – I almost didn't want to believe it myself!
As it says in the synopsis – this deals with weighty issues such as PTSD, depression, infertility and attempted suicide. It’s a dark and difficult read and really tugs at the heart strings as this turns on a knife edge from an apparently light and frothy romance to an incredibly dark and serious story. Totally unexpected and highly original
It’s definitely a story of two halves and the first half hovered around the 3 star mark for me but the second half is a solid 4 so I think I’ll have to average it out and give it 3.5 stars and I would definitely recommend that you all read this just for the originality and the chance to experience something a little different and unexpected.

~~5 Emotionally Packed Stars~~
" You were given this life because you're strong enough to live it."….Harvey
Let me start by saying I'm in awe of Ashley Beale. This is my first book by her and it won't be my last. This book touches on some very serious subjects and I have to say the amount of research Ashley must of done for this book is amazing. I learned so many new things regarding...depression, PTSD, and other topics. This book was an emotionally charged story. You will feel every emotion while reading this book, I laughed, I cried, I was pissed, I was sad, but overall I felt LOVE!!! This story was executed very well. It flowed nicely and it was told in such a way that it made it feel like a book I have never read before. I can't explain that to much because it would spoil the big twist in this story....just know that this book will keep you on your toes :) This storyline was so unique, in that, it showed a whole nother side to Depression and PTSD. It showed that these 2 things can happen to anyone and that we all cope in our own way. This story was truly about learning to love yourself and moving on and coping with tragedy. It was also a story about love, we actually got to see 2 love stories in this book. No that doesn't mean this is a love triangle, but you will fall in love with all the characters of this book.
The story starts off with Zoey losing her fiancé in the war and her moving to New York for a job to help her heal and move on. During the course of the book we get glimpses into her life with Kirt ( Ex-Fiance') through flashbacks. Now normally I am not a fan of flashbacks in a story, but the way Ashley incorporated them into the story worked really well. She had me falling in love with Kirt, even though he was deceased. While Zoey is living and working in New York she meets Harvey and Brice. Again, Ashley makes it so easy to fall in love with both of these characters. Like I said before….this isn't a love triangle, but I can't explain it anymore with out ruining the twist to this story. The story that unfolds once she meets these 2 men is like none I have ever read before. She added such a twist to this book, I never saw it coming. I would never have been able to guess it either. What I loved about Zoey is even though she has her moments of weakness, she is a strong character. I loved watching her grow as the story continued, but I also loved that she finally learned to lean on others for help and that not everyone leaves. She also learned that even though God took Kirt from her that there is a reason for everything and you just have to ride it out. I know this is pretty vague but this is one of those books you really need to read for yourself to truly feel all the emotion that is packed into this book.
As for the secondary characters…Emi is the one that really stuck out. She was an amazing sister to Zoey. Even though she was the younger sibling she was such a strong support to Zoey. We do meet other character in the book, but they didn't really stand out to me….they just played a part to the story. I will say that even though we get a great love story out of this book, the story really is about Zoey learning to get past the tragedy of losing Kirt and learning to love herself and others again.
I would definitely recommend this book to everyone. It was such an emotional read that when I finished, I had to just sit for a moment and let it just sink in. The ending to the epilogue was just amazing!!!!! To me this book truly is awe-inspiring!!!!
Zoey is a recent transplant to New York City from Georgia. She is transferred to a new branch office for the publication she works for and she uses the opportunity to make a new start. Having lost her fiancé, whom she had been with for thirteen years, to the war in the Middle East, she sets out to heal herself and find happiness away from the things that bring back so many memories. Shortly after arriving in New York, she meets Harvey. He works as a tour guide, and is eager to show Zoey all around the city. They begin to spend a lot of time together and Zoey quickly finds herself beginning to fall in love with the mysterious Harvey; who always seems to show up at the right time, and has never invited her to his house, or introduced her to any of his family…is Zoey ready to put her heart on the line? Especially to someone who seems to hold just as many secrets as she does?
Brice is a recent transplant to New York City as well. He has come from Tennessee and works in the IT department at the same office as Zoey. Originally Brice begins flirting with Zoey’s younger sister Emi, however Zoey quickly learns that she is the object of his affection, not Emi. Zoey is still healing from losing the love of her life when she begins to fall for Harvey, then Brice comes along, leaving her confused. She is interested in both men as they both complement her in different ways, and she is certainly not ready to be an exclusive relationship with either of them right now, not when she has so much work to do to recover from her heartbreak.
Illusion holds a lot promise and with some editing, it could be a five star read. It has a very original storyline and is full of twists, turns, and emotions. I know that advanced copies are often times not completely edited, however there were several malaprops and the dialog could be a little choppy at times, which made it a little distracting. I wouldn’t mind re-reading the final to see if these have been fixed. I found myself not liking the character of Zoey very much. Ms. Beale took on some very weighty issues, mental illness in particular, and she did a very good job of handling them in a positive light, however it just felt like Zoey could have done so much more to help herself, rather than coming across as a whiner. Emi, being the younger sibling, seemed to be so much stronger than Zoey. I really did like Brice though, and I found myself rooting for him from the beginning. He was sympathetic and caring, exactly what Zoey needed.
Once I got into the book, it was a fast read. I give Illusion 3 ½ to 4 stars, simply based on originality alone. It really did have a great twist to it and made for interesting and enjoyable reading.
Well i was so excited when i was the very first blogger/reviewer to receive the ARC copy from Ashley and i cant think her enough for it... i received it 3 weeks before anyone else, and it is set to be released January 10th 2014... Ashley has out done her self again in this novel that will make you not want to put it down and want to stay up all night reading it. We get to go a emotional roller coaster with Zoey as she receives the unthinkable news about her fiance, as we read we discover that he died and that she needs to learn to live and let go, but can she? That is one my friend that you will have to wait to figure out ;) I have never experienced this much emotion in one character as i felt the soar, pain, and tears that she was experience as well as the anger, hurt, and some what abandoned. You will think one thing while reading and then bam she has reading something you thought wasn't possible or confusing because you felt hurt with her. I have learned that i need to live in the today and not in the tomorrow that one day i may be left with regret or not cherishing and i believe that this book deserve more then those 5* that is nothing to what i would rate this book, there would be to many stars to add if i could. So be warned that you will need a full box of tissue's before settling down and reading Illusion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I literally just finished reading this book and I already know that this book is without a doubt one of my favorite books of all time! I came across this author and book when she did a "take-over" on a blog on Facebook. She posted a few teasers and such and I one-clicked without even reading the synopsis. I normally read through reviews before I purchase a book, but I didn't with this one. I am so glad that I didn't read any because it allowed me to truly experience this book and the story it told. As soon as I read the first page I knew this book was going to affect me in so many ways. I was drawn into the story and unable to put the book down. Some may find this book hard to read because of some of the issues and things the character goes through, but trust me when I say this... you will not be sorry if you read this. I shed many, many tears throughout this book and I laughed quite often. It definitely makes you feel and that, to me, is what makes an amazing book! Like I said, it is definitely one of my favorite books of all time and I will be reading more of the authors books for sure!
Mother of holy god this book was excellent! I was instantly pulled in from page one. This book was inspirational, sad, happy, funny, Hell it was a whirlwind of emotions I can't even explain. Let me just say wow I did not expect what happened. There isn't much that I can say when it comes to describing the book because it would give away too many important details, that have to be read by yourself. I cried, I laughed and honestly could not put this book down. (actually fell asleep reading it because I just couldn't stop.) I especially like the end of the book, where Ashley addresses the issues that are brought forth in this book. It makes me respect and love her writing even more. She is a very talented author and I intend to read every single book she has written! If you do not read this book and enjoy it, you must be off your rocker (as my mom would say) because the love and creativity in this book is like no other.
I can't summaries this story without giving away anything but what I would say is that it follows the main character's battle with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder after the loss of her Husband. Anything that increases awareness of mental health issues gets a huge thumbs up from me and I respect the Author's choice to tackle a sensitive subject in a way that inspires you to find out more.
Illusion had me Completely hooked from the Prologue. I teared up! Ashley Portrays and writes the book so well, it is easy to "feel" what the characters are feeling, which in my opinion, makes for an amazing book! Be prepared to just sit and read it as you will not want to put it down!
Very disappointed. This book had so much potential. I never felt the connection with Zoey and any love she had for the men in the book. It was lacking a lot!
Illusion was not what I was expecting, it had quite a twist that looking back on it, I should have figured out what said twist was, but I didn't. I am in a state of wow, I loved the entire story, from the prologue all the way to the last page. The writing is beautifully done, I really adored this book.
When the story begins Zoey is at the funeral for her fiancé, Kirt. It was heartbreaking and so well written and packed such an emotional punch that I was pulled in, continuing to read until I reached the very end. A year after the death of Kirt, Zoey gets a job in New York City, in hopes of healing and finding a way to move on with her life, she embarks on this new journey. On her first day in the city she meets Harvey, a local tour guide. In a roundabout and slightly serendipitous way, her and Harvey continue to connect which propels them into her first relationship since Kirt's death.
Along the way she meets Brice, the IT guy at work and the way she meets him had me laughing hysterically. Through emails to her sister Em, from her work computer, Brice without her knowledge reads her emails and introduces himself, after that it gets very funny as Zoey and Em write to each other and include Brice in their conversations. Sparking a friendship and ultimately a love that left me smiling and crossing my fingers that they would get a happy ending.
And that's when everything becomes very intriguing, heartbreaking, stunning and absolutely gorgeous. I do not want to give spoilers so I am not going to say any more about the plot. I will say this, it left me stunned and slightly shaking my head and wanting to email the author and express my awe at how she weaved the entire plot of Illusion.
There is humor interlaced with the serious but it definitely deals with some very heavy issues that include depression, death, PTSD, and attempted suicide. Ultimately this is a book with a lot of heart, some very steamy moments, two love stories and the hope that comes with finding love again and choosing to live your life.
I loved this book and it is definitely going on my list of best books of 2014. Ashley Beale has written an incredible story. Now go read it :)
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
ARC of this book was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
You know those books where in the beginning the hero/heroine has a rough journey but then things pan out and everything is smooth sailing from there on out? Well, this is not that type of story. Zoey LaRoche has had a rough year, year and a half really. Life has thrown her in the mud and then stomped on her. But, lucky for her, her sister and parents aren't willing to see her give up. She's offered a job in NYC, far away from her family in Georgia. With her company opening up a new location there, it seems like the perfect new start. She even meets a handsome young guy to help be her tour guide. Right when things start going great and she seems to be moving on, life decides to kick her down again.
Illusion was actually a pretty emotional read for me. The things that Zoey has endured, they are a lot for someone to go through, much less at her young age. After losing her fiancé while he was deployed and then falling deep into depression, her family decides she needs a new start somewhere fresh. They urge her to take the opportunity in NY. I felt so badly for her. She was with her best friend for 13 years, only to have him taken away. They had a future planned. This was just supposed to help see it through. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. How do you move on from something like that? This story is much more than just a romance novel. It takes you on twists and turns that you just don't see coming. The huge twist that is thrown at us, that's about where the first tear fell. From that point on, I just wanted reach through the pages and hold her. She's so brave and strong, she just didn't realize it. "You were given this life because you are strong enough to live it."
Pick up Illusion. If you're like me, you won't be able to put it down. It's one of those stories that draws you in and doesn't release you until the very end. It's high up on my list of favorite reads. I know you won't be disappointed.
If you want your heart broken in pieces. You need to pick this book.. If you want a great plot & romance to repair you.. You trapped me again Ashley Beale you did an awesome job writing illusion. I was on the edge thru the whole book. You're one of my favorite author I have read 3 of you books within weeks. Love your writing!!
Looking forward to read "Hand of Thorns " counting the days xox
Illusion by Ashley Beale
Zoey - young lady living in Georgia, her dreams are to have kids/family, a house and married by the age of 27, sometimes you have to do sacrifices to obtain what you want. Some sacrifices may hurt you and break you to make you stronger.

One day Zoey received a phone call that will change her life forever. Feeling guilty and heartbroken she packed her bags and move to NYC to have a better life, that's when she met Harvey is when she is start smiling again and to live a happy life. Will be the happiness she really needs ? Or it will be another bad choice that you would leave her more heartbroken that she already is. All relationships has the good and bad moments, But when you went thru a bad situation everyone has different reaction to fix the problems, but when you think you met the love of your life and he has change your life completely. It may surprise you how that new challenge can change for worst or for the best.
Emi- Zoey's sister always checking on her older sister ( like a mommy's love) she will do anything to bring happiness back to her sister's life
You may have plan your whole future but your destiny may be something else. Life is full of surprises
I was given an ARC of this book in return for a honest review
This is the first book I have read by Ashley Beale, and it will not be the last. I really enjoyed this book. It was not at all what I was expecting. I knew that something was not right as the story went on, but I was not fully expecting the big bomb that is revealed. This book is a romance, but it has so much more depth and issues involved. The book deals with PTSD, which is a very serious subject. The author did great research into the subject, and it really shows in her writing.
The main character, Zoey, is only 27, but has already had a lot of tragedy in her life. She beat cervical cancer and lost the love of her life Kirt, a soldier who died in an explosion. After his death Zoey was in a very dark place and decided with her family's urging to transfer to the New York office of the magazine she works for. In New York she can hopefully move forward and start her future. There are many obstacles for Zoey throughout the book, but they all seem to make her stronger and help her to become the carefree loving person she was in the past. I do not want to give details into what those obstacles are because it will ruin the story for you. There are many twists and turns and the author does a great job on keeping you heavily involved. I had a hard time putting the book down. I loved the secondary characters. Her sister is hilarious and is a huge support system for Zoey. She gives great advice and has saved Zoey more then once.
This book book made me laugh and cry ( have the tissues ready). There is a HEA and no cliffhanger (yay!). If you are looking for a book that pulls at your emotions, has a main character that grows tremendously, and shows that even though the past knocks us down we can still have a bright future then this book is for you. I will definitely be recommend this book.
I'll be honest, before reading "Illusion", I had never heard of Ashley Beale. Had no idea how many books she had out. I'm ecstatic to have had the pleasure of reading an ARC copy. "Illusion" had me from the first couple of pages. Ashley showed me then, that she knows what the heck she is doing.
Zoey LaRoche always planned on marrying her high school sweetheart. They were soulmates & inseperable. That is, until he enlisted in the service. The problem....he never made it back home. Zoey went through hell for a year and then decided to make a change (with a push from her family). She moved to New York for her job hoping the change would be good. She never expected to find someone to care about and who cares for her in return. Things were almost good again. Harvey was near perfect. He was sweet, romantic, sexy, loving & fun. He showed her around town & comforted her when she needed it. They did almost everything together. However things don't always seem as they should, which had Zoey questioning everything about her relationship.
I wish I could shout out everything I want to tell you about this book, but then you wouldn't get to enjoy it for yourself. "Illusion" starts off on a somber note, but a lot of the times I was grinning from ear to ear because I was happy for Zoey. She was finally able to smile and laugh again. The banter between Zoey and her sister, Emi, was hilarious. They had me rolling. However, this story was also heart wrenching enough to bring me to tears several times.
"Illusion" was a little different from your everyday romance novel. It made my heart hurt at times, but I enjoyed every bit of it. Ashley has amazed me with the way she writes. "Illusion" was wonderful and unique.
OH EM GEE!!!! I just have to start by saying that. This is such an AWESOME book!!! This should be #1 on your TBR list. I was lucky enough to receive this ARC for an honest review before it's set release date January 10, 2014. I was hooked by the first page of this book. I fell in love with this story immediately. WARNING: This book will grab you and throw you into the story before you know it.
This book had me thinking that I was going crazy, but I knew that I wasn't....
I didn't want to put this book down, but I had to at one time just to gather myself together before finishing it. I know right??? I have never had a book do this to me. WTH!!! I had to keep telling myself to Keep Calm this is only a book. This book met all my expectations in a book and then more. I never cry when reading, only maybe tear up here and there, but this book pulled at all my heart strings. Before I knew it, I found myself bawling (yes, BAWLING) my eyes out at certain parts of the book. Now that is doing something. This book will have you laughing, crying, and saying WTH.
Ashley Beale (in my eyes) you're a genius when it comes to writing.
This is the first of Ashley Beale's books that I have read and I can say it WON'T be the last. I love the fact that this book is the complete story of Zoey, Kirt, Harvey, and Brice. No cliffhangers!!! Yay!!! Although I sure could read more of this story. It is just that AWESOME of a story!!! I will be reading this book again and again. I HIGHLY recommend that you read this book!!!
You're in for one HELL of a ride with this book and you'll fall crazy in love with it!!!!
**I RECEIVED THIS NOVEL AS AN ARC IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW**
Let me preface this by saying this review will be spoiler-free for those who have not read it.
Where to begin? I'll admit, it took my QUITE a few chapters to get into the novel. Just coming off my own personal '31 Days of Christmas' book challenge, I wasn't ready to such a 'heavy' read as Illusion.
I'd say about 40% through the book is when I started really getting into the book, and at about 50% is when it hit me how predictable the plot was going... not to say that predictability is a bad thing. What got me was how Ashley covered the hindsight 'obvious clues' so well, you don't realize she's giving you clues. The old adage 'Right under your nose' fits well here.
I do have to say that I didn't expect the HEA to be with who it was, but I was pleased nonetheless. I do hope that there will be another installment of Zoey and Brice, because I would like to know what happens with these two.
I could feel how Zoey felt through the book, with her thoughts and own self-reflections, since I have felt the same way LOTS of times during my life. I know how it feels to have Zoey's beliefs about getting too close to people & what happens when you do.
My favorite part of the book... wasn't even in the story at all. Ashley speaks directly to the reader at the end of the novel, urging them to get help if they are going through the topics the novel discussed. I found that to be touching, and it shows Ashley honestly cares about her readers and wants to make sure they are okay.
I give this 5 out of 5 stars, and would HIGHLY recommend this book.
I started this book thinking rather quickly that I knew where this was going to go... Boy was I wrong. I absolutely adored this story. Ashley did a great job writing this story and the factual parts contained in this book were dead on.
Zoey is broken... The life she planned takes a dramatic turn and causes her so much heartbreak. When an opportunity to relocate for work brings her to a new city, everything appears to be turning for the better for Zoey. A chance encounter pulls out the old Zoey, and she everything in her mind is coming together.
"He pulls back just as slow then pushes into me a little harder, filling me up."
When she finally allows herself to open up to someone, not all is as it seems, or is it?
"I close my eyes and allow myself to enjoy this moment as much as I possibly can. He isn't leaving me. He isn't leaving me.
This book contains twists and turns, highs and lows, some pretty hot sex scenes, real life issues, and a wonderful HEA.
"You were given this life because you're strong enough to live it, Zoey." My absolute favorite line of the whole book, a good lesson for everyone in life.
*I received an ARC of this book was given to me in exchange for an honest review*
I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review. This book is amazing. I started it and I couldn't put it down. This is a romance book with a HEA but it is also a serious book with tragic turns and stops. Zoey is a girl that had been through hell and back! She was in love with a guy when she was young and he was in loved in a tragic death. Zoey was heartbroken and never fully recovered I don't think. Her family was her rock, her morale support but they can only do so much. she is moving to NY for a fresh start.. Brice works for the same company and is in IT. The second he sees her he knew she was special. So he starts hanging around and trying to build the trust that she needs to be a friend. A tragic event happens here and her sister is on her way to rescue her and make sure she's ok when Brice shows up and starts asking questions and putting everything together. I am so glad that Zooey opens up to him and starts the healing process from the inside. This couple is amazing together! This book is about PTSD, suicide, and getting the correct help you need when you need it. She has done an amazing job with research and telling the story so it's a HEA. I truly enjoyed this book so much. I laughed, cried, screamed, and sighed at this book while reading. This is a must read!

Arc received for a honest review This is my first Ashley Beale book and I loved it. This is the story of Zoey…. Her fiancé Kirt never came home from deployment, leaving her broken beyond repair. A year after she packs up and moves across country to New York for a new job, with the hope of healing a little….. This story covers some real difficult issues which are approached with care and handled very delicately. There are many twists and turns which kept me turning every page and needing more…. Poor Zoey has been to hell and back repeatedly and you can’t help but love her and feel her pain. You are taken on a rollercoaster journey with a broken young woman who can’t see how special she is but with the love and support of her family and friends, Emi, Harvey, Brice, Meghan and Ryan. Zoey begins to heal and find her place in the world again. Without giving away any spoilers…. I loved watching Zoey grow and heal, break and heal. This is a must read for all…. It is completely refreshing take on a broken heroine who finds, losses and finds love again to heal. Ashley Beale is a very talented writer and this won’t be my last read of hers.
This book.. Was amazing. I was hooked.from the very beginning! I had tears within the first few pages! It was such an emotional read. It had a real feel to it, that you couldn't help but not want to put it down and finish it all!. My heart broke for Sort. In the beginning you find out that she lost her fiancée who was in the military. The loss of any person is hard. But the author added a whole new meaning to it! I literally could not believe what I was reading. My jaw dropped quite a few times. Harvey was sexy and sweet. Perfect even. Or so.she thought. I loved Brice!he was a smart, funny and sexy man! He was caring, compassionate,a true friend and made ya wanna keep him for yourself! I laughed, cried and screamed when I was reading this. This has got to be one of the best books I have read! I really enjoyed this book, and I know all the readers out there will too! This book's main character is Zoey and the story starts out with her losing her fiancee because he is in the military, and was killed while on duty overseas. She is devastated, begins a fresh start in New York City, and tries dating again, with new men, and beginning a new life at a job she loves. She still talks to her fiancee who has passed, and she is having difficulty moving on from the life she had with him. This story is so real to me and others who have experienced someone whom they love that has passed.
While reading this book, I could not put it down, and just felt like I connected with Zoey and her experience, through the author's powerful writing and vivid descriptions throughout the book. I really enjoyed it, and anyone who wants a great love story, with realistic ideas in it, should really read this book. I loved it and recommend it to others! Happy Reading!!

I fell in love with this book and all the characters as soon as I started reading it. I felt bad for Zoey and the life she was given and all the struggles she was going through. It seemed like she just couldn't catch a break with everything that kept getting thrown at her. She went through things that no one should ever have to go through, But in the end she finally got the life she always wanted. I definitely teared up at the end of this book because I was just so happy for Zoey and that her life was finally on the right track! Let me just tell u to have a tissue ready for when u read this story, ur going to need it. I just love the way Ashley writes her stories and sucks her readers into the fast paced story line. I didn't know much about Ashley Beale a few month's ago but I'm turning into a huge fan of hers and her amazing stories. Looking forward to reading everything Ashley writes!
I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I must start out by saying that I fell in love with the characters in this story. Zoey goes from happiness, to heartbreak and rock bottom, to finding happiness again. I could not put this book down! I read it over the course of one afternoon it swept me up in the pages and I just had to finish it. I laughed with the characters, I cried with them too. Zoey, Emi (her sister) and Brice are all great characters that you just want to see happy.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a great story that will leave you begging for more with these amazing characters. The story involves Zoey and having PTSD after loosing the first love of her life Kirt. She is someone deserving of love and I was so happy with the way the story ended. Please take some time to read this book and enjoy it. You will not be disappointed!!
I really enjoyed this story, when I wasn't crying, or setting it down to come back to later. This was a story that took me awhile to read as I swear every time I picked it up to read, it made me cry.
This story deals with death, coping, PTSD, grieving, acceptance and finally love. It was a very unique read that was written outside of the normal box. Even though it took me a long time to get through it, I truly enjoyed it.
This story had a great twist to it. You may be able to guess it, and think you have it right. However, I guarantee you that you won't have it down in the right way until you get to the twist.
What I liked: 1. A story outside of the normal box in it's genre 2. Messed with my emotions 3. Has an awesome plot twist. 4. I liked Brice 5. I loved the ending 6. I liked the flashbacks
Zoey's whole life crumbles down around her when her fiance Kirt doesn't make it home from the war. A year later she is transferred to New York, while she is there she meets Harvey and starts to feel like her life has meaning again. That is until she is forced to see the truth about what's going on around her. Will Zoey find happiness or will she find herself trapped in a world of illusions? This book dealt with some heavy situations and different mental illnesses. It was tastefully written and an all around really good story with a strong story line and believable characters. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. I would highly recommend this story to anyone looking for a good read.
This story takes you truly to the heart of losing a loved one and dealing with PTSD. Zoeys journey was not an easy one. Some may have a hard time reading this or understanding the underlying issues. I was very happy with the story that was told here. There were a lot of tears shed for me thru this book and I did enjoy it.
I will recommend reading this story to the community and I hope everyone enjoys it. I'm giving this story 4 stars. As my only issue was that there were a lot of typos and words that didn't belong. Again, I had an arc so that may have been corrected when the book went live.
I hope you all enjoy this book and I can't wait for more from this author!

I absolutely loved this book. It was a heartbreaking and beautiful story. I loved the characters and grew attached to them easily. It was hard to put this book down once I started it. Reading about all the horrible things that Zoey has to go through made me hurt for her. She really deserved to be happy. This book really touched my heart and I enjoyed it very much. This was the first book of Ashley Beale's that I have read and I cannot wait to read more of her books! She told a great, unique story that pulls you in and makes you love all the characters. You will not be disappointed with this book.
