I read a lot of historical romance, and one of the things largely missing from the genre is mature couples and characters. Sure, that maiden aunt/chaperon might get her secondary romance, but as a focus couple? We're usually looking at a FMC in her 30s and a MMC in his 40s at the oldest. Three Nights with Her Husband features a mature couple who have been married for decades and raised several children. Unfortunately, Double, the MMC, is feeling the call of the open road now that he doesn't have a goal to focus on, and Mary, the FMC, knows it. They need therapy: couples and individual, but in the 1800s they are out of luck. So, they have to work through things themselves while they're also in charge of delivering some valuable cargo for their employers. I liked this one for taking on a longterm relationship and characters who really knew each other! I also commend Grant both for letting them be sexual beings and for not solving their relationship issues through rediscovering sex.
