Black Creek Pack #3

Chained Omega

Rate this book
An Omega on the run
An Alpha chaining his catch
An attraction that won't be denied
All the steam!

Corey
I can't believe I was so careless that I managed to get myself caught. And not only that, but the unhinged Alpha a-hole has me chained to the Goddess-damned floor! I need to get free, no matter the cost. Even if it means bowing down to my captor and submitting to him in ways I've never allowed myself before. Only, the more I yield, the better it feels, and that scares me more than the loss of my freedom.

Alexei
When I found the Omega rummaging around in my home I knew my suspicions were correct, and that I couldn't let him get away. But the longer I keep him, the more convinced I become that he's not the spy I took him for, and that he too is in danger. However, I won't let him go. He's mine and I won't let anyone take him from me, no matter the consequences.

This is the third book in the series of the Black Creek Pack Omegas. The story takes place in an ABO, m-preg universe that isn't kind to Omegas. There are also Wolf semi-shifting - i.e., there are no actual wolves appearing anywhere.
Each book follows a new couple and their way to their happily ever after, but there's an over-reaching story arc that stretches over the entire series meaning that for maximum enjoyment the first two books should be read prior to this book.

This series is meant for 18+ readers since it contains lots, and lots of - really, there's a ton of it! - highly explicit descriptions of sexual encounters between two men. Content warnings chains, spankings, public claimings, blood, biting, and knotting. You'll also find extreme size difference, possessiveness, growly Alphas, and snarky and sweet Omegas.

Jay's an introvert and a weirdo who has always preferred the company of books over people. Pair that with a dirty mind and a brain that won't quit making up stories and you have Jay L. North.

Jay has always been a voracious reader, which is probably how most writers start out. In Jay's case, they began writing their own stories at a young age. When they couldn't find a book that suited their fancy they simply wrote it themselves - with varying results.
Then they grew up, got a proper job, and almost forgot about their joy of writing.
Only when they hit a wall after years and years of stress and an unhealthy work environment did they reassess their priorities and take up writing once again.
And with a truck full of mental health issues, their stories are meant as pure escapism. They write spice and steam, and they choose to leave the profound and angst-y to others.

They live in the far north of the world where the winters are harsh and the forests are deep. They live in an old castle with their family which, apart from a few humans, also includes three Golden Retrievers and a small fire dragon. They spend their days happily reading (or writing) by the fire or walking in the woods.

We have Corey, who left his birth pack as a teenager only to be captured by a group of horrible Alphas so that he could be part of the omega hunt. He’s rescued but quickly runs away, not trusting any Alphas after the horrors he has witnessed. While out in the forest trying to survive, he finds what he thinks is an unoccupied cabin. He ends up getting captured by the owner, an Alpha who thinks he has been sent to spy on him. He soon learns that his prisoner is not a spy but his fated mate.

Corey is flighty and has had only bad experiences with Alphas, and his first encounter with Alexei does not help. However, Alexi knows that Corey is his mate, but his Omega resists and tries to escape - despite the danger lurking around them. There’s a lot of back and forth between the two, mostly on Corey’s end. He doesn’t want to submit, but his body does crave his Alpha.

While this story is about fated mates, the romance felt more like a slow burn, especially compared to the previous books in the series. While it got frustrating at times, I understand the need for it due to Corey’s past.

I enjoyed the high steam, and while the pregnancy happens towards the end, I’m glad it was included in the epilogue.

Overall, I enjoyed Chained Omega. It was a quick and steamy omegaverse read. It’s the third book in the series, and while the focus is on the main couple, there’s an overarching story. So for better enjoyment it’s best to start with book one.

This was a treat in the ABO universe.
This was my first book by this author and I’m just gonna say I’m now gonna read the others as well. I loved it, but one slight thing that made the difference between 4 and 5 stars is the level of anxiety it spiked in me due to all the crazy dad stuff going on. I just kept waiting for the other shoe to drop honestly. The spice was off the charts but it usually is in this universe, I just adore the whole mates thing I mean I’m a sucker for fated stuff so if you’re like me this is a thing for you. Mpreg is also going on mind you, but not on page except the epilogue after the fact. I wish the heat was on the page tho. Still a good time with this one!

like this arc

This was a good continuation of a sorts. This time line is following the first book but can be read as a stand-alone. I wasn’t sure what to think of this couple at first, but I fell in love with them when they fell in love with each other. I didn’t feel at first but it sucked me in. I liked how their love evolved and how they were figuring out themselves when they aren’t under control of others. The writing was great. The smexy was HAWT! And the side characters well you have to figure out who to trust.

Steamy!

This one was far steamier than the last 2 books. Some of the stuff that happens to Corey (or is attempted against him) is rough so heed those TWs.
I feel like this one was a little more disconnected from the overarching plot so could be read as a standalone

Corey is an unmated Omega lost and starving. He enters a cabin where he is captured and chained by an Alpha, Alexei. In a brutal story of mistreatment, abuse and attempted forcible claiming by multiple other alphas, Corey and Alexei come to realize they are mates. In a dominant/submissive courting, Corey comes to realize his love and acceptance of Alexei's protection. Alexei is at first not likeable, but shows his loving side eventually. Corey is cocky and brave until finally admitting Alexei is what he wants. The book is often violent and hard to read but you always feel like Alexei is doing his best to take care of Corey in a crazy, uncontrolled situation. This book continues a story line started in this Omega series with a temporary HEA for these two. I received a copy of this book through Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest opinion.

Chained but very differently

Jay L. North has done a great job with writing this very different story about an omega who is trying to get away from the standard relationships that alphas and omegas live. This is a common trope but North writes some lovely twists such as having Alpha Alexei find Omega Corey in his cabin and instead of realizing that they are fated mates he thinks Corey is spying on him and he locks him up. The hate to love arc that their story goes through was a delight to read. I have enjoyed all of the books in this series but I definitely think this is my new favorite.

CHAINED OMEGA is the third book in the Black Creek Pack. I'm afraid I haven't read books one and two, but I really want to now. I was still able to enjoy the story and didn't find it impacted me too greatly on what I had missed previously.

It begins with references to the overall story arc - Corey is on the run and hungry. When he smells sausages, he enters the cabin and feeds for the first time in days. When Alexei finds him, he thinks Corey has been sent to spy on him. He captures and cages Corey while he tries to figure out what's going on.

Moving on to Corey and Alexei's story, boy, it's a hot one. I really felt for the pair of them. Having a psycho dad and brother can't be fun! Especially when they have designs on your man. I honestly don't know which one I felt the most sorry for.

This was a fast-paced and thrilling story. I enjoyed every word and really want to read more in the series, both before and after this one. I wouldn't say it is essential to have read the first two books, but I would recommend it as it does follow on (sort of) from that storyline.

In a world full of wrongs, it's nice to see something right - and that's what the relationship between Corey and Alexei is. Definitely recommended by me.

3.5 stars.

I want to start by mentioning that the editing in this book is much better than the last two. Very happy about that!

I think this is my favorite of the series so far. I really like book 1, but I just connected more to Corey and Alexei. I love Corey's attitude and snarkiness. But it isn't too over the top, and is never mean. I also love that he is honest with himself and Alexei once he realizes they are mates, and also his desires. Their dynamic is sweet, but smoldering as well. Alexei is so sweet and protective, but also dominant and fierce.

A couple things that were hard for me to read: the attempted (and implied) assaults and public acts. The public stuff is just a little past my comfort zone. But I do feel like this author did it well. The MCs are in the situation unwillingly, and neither of them really want it to go the way it does, so that made it bearable for me. But the forced "mounting" that is described a few times (by other alphas, not Alexei), was triggering for me, so please keep that in mind.

This book touches on the overarching plot, but there's not too much progress with it. It sounds like it will be wrapped up in the next book. And while I was really looking forward to Kai's book, I'm not overjoyed that it will be mmm. I really just wanted Kai to have his beta and hea, and not mix in an alpha at all. But, I'm invested in the series' plot, so I'll read it.

**Disclaimer**
I have not previously read the first two books in this series as the current story ARC did play out with them as well.

In this story, we meet Corey, an Omega on the run from crazy, abusive Alphas who just want to take advantage of unmated Omegas just because they think they can and no one will stop them. When Alpha Alexei catches Corey stealing food in his cabin, he quickly overpowers him and puts him in a cage and eventually chaining his leg after letting him out of the cage.

Alexei assumes that Corey has been "sent" by someone in relation to the previous story ARC from the first two books involving murder and abduction of others. Corey can't stand Alphas who use their power and title to take advantage and doesn't want to want Alexei but to his dismay, his body begins to betray him.

Without giving too much away, this story has all of the steam, snark, and action you could ask for. However, I was surprised that there were no Content Warnings or Triggers at the beginning, especially since there is an almost r*pe scene. This may be triggering to others who have been in that situation, so PLEASE place warnings to let people know.

I received an ARC from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest review.

This is a very enjoyable, reasonably fast-paced omegaverse that has an interesting slow-burn romance to it. While it is the third book in the series “Black Creek Pack” & I personally think that it can be easily stand on its own. The plot is well-written and is quite intriguing with some unexpected situations that are quite graphic. The individual characters are very unique & develop good chemistry as they go on their emotional journey of discovery while they continue developing throughout the storyline. The secondary characters play good supporting roles.
It is about: an alpha male (Alexei) seems to have made an error in judgment when he caught a male omega (Corey) in his home, and presumes that that the omega is a spy and promptly cages him, not realizing that fate has a surprise in store for him.
There is: wolf shifters, alpha/omegas/betas, villainous villains, omega trafficking, family issues, twists & turns, drama, intrigue, action, adventure, misconceptions, defiance, threats, danger, discipline/spankings, confrontations, violence, conflict, fated mates, complications, love, contentment, very steamy scenes & a happy conclusion for this couple.

Corey is on the run from Omega hunters, and has entered Alexei’s cabin for food when he is caught. Alexei suspects him of being a spy, and keeps him captive, all the while distrusting Corey but drawn to him as his mate. Alexei must convince Corey that they are fated mates, at the same time keep his twin away from his Omega, while continuing to look for the elusive proof he needs about his father, and ultimately protect Corey long enough for them to mate. It takes a while for an explanation of what Alexei is looking for and why to be made clear, but it is relevant and apparently does relate back to a previous book in the series. Corey appears to not know much about pack life, nor about the relationship between Alphas and Omegas from a mating standpoint, as he has been on his own for awhile. Interesting characters, told from a dual POV, good background on pack structure and fated mate lore, steamy scenes, and a complex storyline to unravel that helps keep the reader engaged. I may go back to read books 1 and 2 before the 4 th book comes out to tie things up.

Mistaken Identity - Check
Being Chained to the floor - Check
Captor being my True Mate - Check???

Corey was rescued from the Omega hunt with Milo and Kai but he took off the first night, not trusting the Black Creek Pack. A few days in the woods and he finds and cabin with the smell of cooking food and he wanders in to feed himself and is captured by Alexi who thinks him to be a spy!

Alexi has been living in his cabin trying to find proof that his father (and possibly brother) had something to do with the tragedy that befell the Black Creek Pack. He needs to set things right, so when a stray omega wonders in, he doesn't trust him. Alexi captures him and holds him captive until he can figure things out.

They banter, they fight (which both of them like more than they should) and they mate, thanks Moon Goddess. But Alexi's father has other plans for Corey.

Again the over arching story is carried forward and more pieces are put together and everything is finally coming to boiling point.

Chained Omega by Jay L. North is the third book in the Black Creak Pack series. I have not read this series before and I was not lost starting here. This story is told in my favorite POV which is dual.
Corey: usually a law abiding citzen. Something he is damn proud of. He is a survival artist not a thief thank you very much. He is an unmated Omega. He hates Alphas they are all jerks in his book. Then he gets caught by an Alpha and put in a cage. Yes Alphas are jerks!
Alexi is an Alpha. He is angry to find an Omega has broken into his home. He is convinced that the little Omega is working for someone to spy on him or get information. So many things about Corey do not add up. But he is determined to find out everything and maybe have this Omega for his own.
This is a really good story. I really want to go back and read what I missed. I also cannot wait for more from this series in the future. I love the connection and love in this story I cannot wait for more!.

Enemies to lovers.. 👀

While this isn’t enemies to lovers, it gives the same vibe and I’m here for it! It’s my favorite trope- if that’s what you want to call it.

Corey took off in the night after being rescued from his captor (from the omega hunt). He is mistrusting of everyone. Including his rescuers. In his (run through the woods) escape, he come across a cabin where Alexi try’s to piece together the past and what his family possibly had to do with it. And he is SUSPICIOUS! He and Corey don’t exactly fall into it right away-

These two butt heads A LOT but it’s the perfect tension they need to break down barriers. Corey is snarky and witty - his inner monólogos are so good! I keep saying that the inner monologue’s from the Omegas are my favorite part! And of course the spice is on point.

This is a bit faster pace than the second book but it does not ditract from the story!

Corey and Alexie ❤️

3.5 Stars

Having read the previous books I ate up the continuation of the story, Corey and Alexie only added to it. The progression from being the chained omega that Alexie had no idea what to do with, to being Alexis's everything had Corey going from cynical toward all Alphas to accepting his fated mate. Their story was sweet, a lot of fun and very very knotty with definite pack chaos. I'm excited for the next book in this series as the main story continues but we definitely got a glimpse of these guys in the future and I adored every second of it. I would recommend this one especially for fans of this series.

Omegas holding their own? Alexei, is a bit more progressive than his traditional Alpha. When he finds Corey in his home, he thinks he a honeypot. Corey, is on the run from his omega suppressive pack, starving and tired. He takes a chance to look for food. His exhaustion makes him careless and he's caught by Alexei. Alexei chains Corey while he can go about his business without worrying about Corey causing mischief. Realizing they are mates, Corey resists his Omega instincts the best he can. This draws out the 'courtship' making the story so entertaining. Corey's resistant sass challenges both and brings out the best of them. Great story. Good love story. Nicely done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I'm fascinated at seeing the different ways authors handle the world building in omegaverse stories and how the world they create views what omegas both should be and are capable of doing and becoming. This series has a world that is not enlightened when it comes to omega rights but I'm wondering as more and more of the Alpha characters discover they've been mistaken about their own mates how that might change long term. Here I really enjoyed watching Alexei realize his mistake and yet struggle both to protect Corey and make amends. Corey is an amazing character and I went through so many emotions with him. Fear, then his confusion when he begins to respond to certain things his captor is doing and then the true bond that forms between them. Great entry in a great series.

Chained Omega by Jay L. North was exactly my type of Omegaverse/ABO story. It was the traditional sense of Alpha hunting omegas and omegas are viewed as just property. The author molded this traditional world building into a delectable and engrossing love story of Corey and Alexei. I love how hard Corey tried to thwart his biological response to his fated mate thus becoming more of a slow-burn instead of a insta-love/insta-lust situation. I love slow burn and I can’t stand insta-lust/insta-love. If their stories are like this, then I definitely want to read more from them.

Being in the run, Corey is in desperate need of food and is drawn to Alexeis cabin.
Alexei is wary if all strangers and when he catches Corey he puts him in a cage and eventually into chains.
The draw between them cannot be denied but so to the baggage their past and as they work to overcome their reservations and obstacles to build a relationship they will face hurdles in their path.

This was a fast paced read with some scenes that may cause triggers. I have not read what came before but would recommend you do in order to better understand the overall story arc.

I've read and liked this whole series, about wolf shifters and their mates, who may be shifters or just plain human! We first met Corey in book one of the series, where he was rescued from traffickers then promptly ran away from his rescuers. But he ran straight to Alexi's cabin! Alexi holds him prisoner and feelings develop from there. The story is a bit clumsy in it's writing but I enjoy the overall story enough to keep on reading. I really liked fiesty Corey who keeps on standing up for himself despite the odds.

I mean I like dark MM but by book 3 I'm so over obtuse Alphas and the whole oh I'm just going to impregnate but not going to mate my true mate. Got boring super quick sigh.. also to compund the issue is the series went on n on about how things had to be n boom.. late book was mmm with a beta. Dont get me wrong i love Jeff but sigh dont build a series on one set of law then just forget your own world building after book 1 thats what annoyed me about this entire series. And hated that series ended on a mmm

I would have given 4 stars but there were parts of the book that were confusing. When the author talked about going into wolf at full moon it wasn't clear who transformed or if there was wolf/human relations. That part felt icky. The two MCs were enjoyable although the start was strange. I really disliked the father and brother even as villain characters. I do wish we had gotten full closure at the end. Overall it was an ok read and was worth checking out.

This is a continuation of an overarching storyline in a series that features a new couple in each book. This one was action packed with high heat similar to the first book. I did get frustrated with some obvious lack of common sense with the decision making Alexei made but oh well we needed drama right?!? It was nice to learn what happened to Corey and to see him get a hard fought HEA like he deserved. Overall a well written series with excellent world building and character development.

This was an advance copy, and there were a few grammar and editing issues that I hope are resolved in the actual release.
I wasn't s big a fan of this book as I was of the other 2. It just didn't seem to flow as well, and the characters were just a little cartoony, I guess. It's hard to explain, but it just didn't do it.
Also, ending on what is pretty much a cliffhanger is a bit annoying. But now I need to read the next book to see what happens, which I guess is the point.

Chained Omega

Wow, okay, that ending was kind of abrupt and left a lot open. It's like they decided to say the hell with it or ran out of ideas. I was looking forward to seeing how a male omega gave birth tbh. And if Lev and Alpha Volkov actually got what they deserved. Is their going to be a 4th book to give us answers? The s story was good up until the end.

He is an omega on the run and he is about to be caught by an alpha who will chain him up. He needs and wants to escape or does he? He is finding he will need to submit to get free but the more he submits, the more he wants to submit. He is being taken to places he had never been before. Will he try to escape? Will he submit fully? How he finally found his alpha? See how it will all go

Corey and Alexei's story can be a bit confronting because as the blurb says, chained to the floor. There is plenty of heat and although their start is not at all conventional they are each other's person. The sudden ending leaves me hanging for more. I really enjoyed this story. 'I'd fight for Corey as many times as it took. He was mine.'

I read the first book in this series and enjoyed it. I somehow missed book two, but will go back to read it. I loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Corey and Alexei. Their chemistry together was scorching! The story had intrigue and suspense. I couldn't put it down. 5 stars.

This was an interesting story and I came to like Alexei quite a bit by the end. I didn’t always understand all of his choices though. I felt like he put Corey in some very dangerous situations by not making better decisions. The ending was way too abrupt for me though. I think these books will be coming together (to tell an over-arcing plot), but I’m unsure at this point.

The omega didn't trust any alpha except for his mate
In the next book the omega won't trust even his mate and I'm really looking forward to it I'm expecting drama and I hope that in the threesome the beta and the alpha also have sex with each other I'm also hoping for a bigger book
