I love the bond the three Gilford sisters have with their grandmother. We get more of their relationship in this third & last book of #TheLilacLakeInnSeries. We’re gifted with Whitney’s story here, full of depth. She’s an actress, struggling after trauma, harassment, yet striving to do something positive. And that includes a romantic reconnection with her high school sweetheart.
The characters in this series are so great & easy to adore! I hate this series is coming to an end. However, I know Keim has so much more she’s always working on
Always my most grateful thanks to Judith Keim. I was provided an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for my unbiased review.
Love Under the Stars is the third book in The Lilac Lake Inn Series by author Judith Keim. Judith beautifully weaves together the final story in this amazing series about the Gilford sisters and their grandmother, GG. Love Under the Stars is mainly about the oldest Gilford sister, Whitney, although all of the previous characters are in this story as well.
The Gilford sisters... Whitney, Dani, and Taylor... have all returned to their grandmother's cottage in Lilac Lake. They are in the process of remodeling the cottage, and they are also trying to figure out if the cottage is actually haunted.
Whitney is an actress and welcomes the time away from Hollywood. Her ex and co-star, Zane Blanchard, has recently overdosed, and the fans are blaming Whitney for his death. Deep down inside, Whitney knows she's not responsible for Zane's death, but she still is affected by the news... especially when she finds out he left everything to her.
As the story unfolds, Whitney realizes that the fans blaming her for Zane's death now vow to get even with her. Her sisters want her to take the threats seriously. However, that means going to the chief of police... her former boyfriend Nick. Immediately, it is obvious the sparks are still there... but will they open their hearts to more?
One thing I have come to love about Judith Keim books is the fact that she always has strong female leads. Another thing I love is that she tends to bring attention to difficult topics and always handles them with the care they deserve. Whitney has taken a bad situation and turned it into good...using the money from Zane to start a foundation that will help children with mental health issues. All of the characters are realistic and extremely well-written. The love and support between the sisters is pure joy to witness, and the dedication and love they have for GG is simply beautiful. This is a story that has it all... love, friendships, family, mystery, and the unexpected twists and turns we all deal with in this crazy thing we call life!
Although love Under the Stars can be read as a stand-alone, I suggest reading the entire series to get the complete story. The first book is Love by Design, which is Dani's story. The second book is Love Between the Lines, and that is Taylor's story.
I received an ARC of Love Under the Stars from the author. However, my views are my own and are in no way influenced by anyone else.
Book three in the Lilac Inn series is all about Whitney. Whitney and her two sisters Dani and Taylor are working to restore the cottage near the Lilac Inn. In books one and two each of her sisters have found their happily ever after. Will it be Whitney's turn to discover love after the turmoil in her life for the last year?
Whitney went to Hollywood at a young age and became a star. When she left to pursue her dreams, she left Nick behind. He was her first serious boyfriend and she pictured them as being together forever, but her acting career ended that dream. When she returns to help her sisters restore the cottage, her life is in turmoil. Her former love, Zane was a very popular actor and when his addiction to drugs ended up killing him, social media needed someone to blame so a small group decided to blame Whitney. In Lilac Lake, she begins to re-think her life and decides that she wants to help children. She sets up a children's theater to help give the children in town a chance to grow their artistic side. All of the parents are very happy with her theater except for one father who feels like his son should be playing baseball and not pursuing his dreams. Danger looms with this father but it is overpowered by the danger of the people on social media who want to punish Whitney for the loss of Zane. Along with that, there is a ghost to find in the cottage. Life is in a turmoil and it makes the three sisters become closer as they try to deal with the danger. More important Nick, her old high school boyfriend, still lives in town and there are still sparks between them. Will Whitney leave Hollywood far behind and find her happily ever after in the small town?
This is a great book about sisters (and I love books about sisters) and the love and support between them. It's also a romantic love story with a bit of mystery and a ghost thrown in. I don't know if there are any other books in this series but I'm not ready to say goodbye to these characters so I hope that the author sends us back to the cottage in the future.
Whitney needs quiet time to heal…. Zane, her co-star and one time boyfriend, overdosed. She took the news of his death hard and Zane’s fans weren’t helping. The Zaniacs were causing trouble, blaming his death on her. Lilac Lake, her childhood summer home and the place she first found love, was calling her home. The memories are powerful, the family cabin will keep her busy and she’ll be away from the paparazzi. Sounds perfect, and it is, but as life would have it things hardly ever go as planned. There will be bumps in the road ahead with a few detours and even a roadblock or two. After all, real life isn’t like one of her Hollywood roles.
We get to see a lot of Dani and Taylor, Whitney’s sisters we met in the earlier books. Dani’s relationship with Brad remains strong with wedding bells to ring at Christmas time. Taylor and Cooper are planning a spring wedding. However, Whitney is the lead character in this production, and she plays her role well. She and Nick Woodruff were young and in love when Whitney was 18. They never forgot each other even though life took them in different directions… her into acting and he into law enforcement. And Nick being the sheriff is perfect because Whitney is going to need not only his love but his protection.
🤔OBSERVATIONS
✒︎ Will JoEllen ever learn????? Trouble maker. Will she wake up and smell the roses before it’s too late?
✒︎ At first I didn’t know it Whitney would be with Ross, the famed Yankees ball payer, or Nick, the town’s sheriff. Ahhh, but first love is hard to overcome.
✒︎ In Whitney’s condition, she needs to stay away from the wine that's flowing rather freely.
✒︎ Can’t forget GG, the girl’s grandmother. She’s still precious as ever.
✒︎ Don’t forget about Mrs. Maynard’s ghost as this plays a big role. My biggest issue in the book is the seance scenes. I’m not a fan of talking to the deceased. …The sisters discover who the ghost is and the story behind it.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is book three in The Lilac Lake Inn series and it is Whitney and Nick’s story. Whitney and Nick have history and thought that they had a future together until Whitney went to Hollywood and became a star but now she is back at Lilac Lake so will this give Whitney and Nick a second chance to be together. Whitney is now glad to start reconnecting with her sisters Dani and Taylor while they renovate the cottage that there grandmother GG gave them and also be away from the media and scandal surrounding her ex Zane who was a actor in Hollywood as well and who died from a drug overdose and all the blame seems to have fallen on Whitney and trying to destroy her career, image and life so she is glad to be away from it all so now she needs to decide what to do next. When Whitney decides to open a theatre to hopefully help children in the town she doesn’t realise that someone will do anything to stop her from succeeding and she will have to have all the help that she can if she wants to pursue her new dream. Nick is now the sheriff in Lilac Lake and even though his and Whitney’s past sent them in different directions he never forgot or stopped loving her and when they meet again because she needs his help there attraction and chemistry is still as strong as ever so will this be a second chance for them and get the happiness and future that they both wanted and deserved but first he will have to help solve the mystery and protect her before it is taken away from them yet again. There are twists and turns along the way that will have you turning the pages to see what will happen next and also what the outcome will be for them all in the end. I really enjoyed this story and I can’t wait to read more books in the future.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. We have made it to the oldest and last Gilford sister. I am hoping that does not mean the last of Lilac Lake. I have really been enjoying all the characters in this town and would like to get to know more of them. Whitney is trying to find some even footing after the death of her co-star and ex-boyfriend, Zane Blanchard. The girls are still fixing up the house that they will need to move into soon. They have to figure out what is going on because Taylor refuses to live in a house inhabited by a ghost. This is make or break time. Their lease is coming to an end. Whitney plans on being the main inhabitant of the cottage. Dani and Brad are building a house. Taylor and Cooper with live in New York part-time as well.
While the girls are looking for clues to why the assumed ghost of Addie Maynard is at the house, Whitney is facing some fans that blame her for Zane's death. To make sure she is safe, the sisters enlist the help of Nick Woodruff, the police chief in Lilac Lake. Nick and Whitney dated when they were young. The sparks are still there, just different now that they are older. Can both of them handle the other's life? Will Nick be able to let Whitney go to pursue another role? Will Whitney be able to deal with the pressures of being with a police officer?
This book gives readers what they want out of romance with a mystery that will keep readers interested. A lot of story lines that keep readers on the edge of their seats until the conclusion. This is definitely not one of those predictable romances, event the mystery takes an unexpected turn. No matter the series, I will be jumping at a chance to read a book written by Ms. Keim.
LOVE UNDER THE STARS is the third book in The Lilac Lake Inn series and it was like I never left the mountains of New Hampshire. We picked up where we left off with love and romance in the air as well as work on the cottage.
The characters had added layers to them and once again sisters, Whitney, Dani and Taylor tell the story in alternating chapters. This is Whitney and Nick's story and we get to see them go all in until Whitney backs off. She has a lot going on in her life even though she's stepped back from her acting career. She's getting involved in their new community of Lilac Lake and is enjoying the friendships she's making or recapturing. Their grandmother GG is still the one they go to for advice and it was nice to see the relationship between the sisters strengthen but also how they feel about their grandmother.
There is a good flow to the story and the sisters are included along with their fiance's even though it's mainly Whitney's story. There are nice descriptions of the home, the cottage, the lake and the small town. There are multiple stories being told that are woven together nicely. There is closure on several fronts but there seems to be more stories to tell with some of the other characters so I felt there were some loose ends. There is a happily ever after that was portrayed in the epilogue but it seemed rushed.
I gave it 4.5 stars but rounded to 5 stars here and on other sites.

Love Under the Stars is book 3 in The Lilac Lake Inn series by Judith Keim. I adore the characters in this book. They all feel like friends I have known for years. as I am reading. The three sisters, Whitney, Dani and Taylor are working together to fix the cottage given to them by GG. It is a task that takes the talent of all the sisters. The story mainly focuses on Whitney and Nick the town sheriff. The chemistry between these two just jumps off the page and wraps its arms around me. I cannot explain how wonderful this series is and how much you will enjoy reading it. Pick up this entire series and get ready to be swept away with the sisters and the entire town! Like the first two books in this series, I loved this book. While this book mainly focuses on Whitney’s story, I was happy to read more about her two sisters and their lives with the men who claimed their hearts. I liked that Whitney’s story included a second chance at love with the man who loved her enough as a teenager to let her go so that she could pursue her dreams. The cottage at Lilac Lake has become a refuge of sorts for all three sisters, bringing them together, helping them to form new bonds and to become the best of friends.
Whitney and Nick have plenty to sort out, including her fears and doubts about their relationship. They also have to contend with the angry fans of her deceased ex-boyfriend and a few disgruntled citizens who aren’t happy with Whitney. Nick steps up to protect her not only because it is his job as chief of police, but because he still cares about Whitney, even after all these years apart. There story proceeds with a few bump and twists as Whitney and Nick head toward a happily ever after just like her sisters have found. This book also nicely wraps up the story of the ghost who has been haunting the cottage the three sisters now own and have been renovating.
This is a great read, with characters that are fascinating and a storyline that is intriguing, engaging and enjoyable. I will happily recommend this book and the two others in this series.
Love Under the Stars is the third novel in Judith Keim’s Lilac Lake Inn series. This story features eldest Gilford sister, Whitney, as she digs her way out from under the hostile media attacks after the accidental overdose of fellow tv sensation Zane Blanchard. While they had been romantically involved in the beginning, once he took a deep dive into drugs Whitney was done although the studio kept the breakup quiet to keep ratings up.
Once Whitney received the call from her grandmother, GG, it was an easy decision to remove herself from all things Hollywood for a while. With the help of her agent Barbara, Whitney returns to Lilac Lake, NH, to work with her sisters Dani and Taylor to orchestrate GG’s wishes to renovate the cottage that is all their grandmother has left after her sale of the Lilac Lake Inn.
However, getting away from Hollywood wasn’t enough to quell the threats from the Zaniacs. Fearful for her sister’s safety, Dani speaks with police chief Nick Woodruff with whom Whitney had shared a summer romance when they were just out of school. But then, when Whitney becomes involved with working with young people is a community theater endeavor, a new kind of threat arises.
In another lovely tale by Ms. Keim, readers will discover close knit sisters, a loving grandmother, a sweet small town, and a cast of well drawn characters. I did enjoy this book and I do recommend it!
Keeping a family promise can be the beginning of a whole new life for everyone in town.

This contemporary romance is page-turning with exceptional world-building and characters that are captivating, realistic, and independent. Their journey is enthralling with love under the stars, adventure, suspense, danger, action, adventure, sweet romance, and more. I recommend reading this book by an extraordinary author who knows how to captivate her readers' hearts and attention with love under the stars and sweet romance that is sure to transport readers into a world of heartfelt emotions that are unforgettable.

Whitney Gilford is staying in Lilac Lake with her two sisters where she and her sisters inherited a cottage from their grandmother, GG. Now that GG is living in a senior community center, she has made stipulations for the girls and the cottage. They have the money she set aside to remodel the cottage and they have to stay their at least six months of the year. Their excited because they have good memories visiting her every summer. It feels like home. Whitney is a star and lives in Hollywood but came back after the breakup of her co-star and boyfriend, Zane Blanchard. Whitney is devastated to find out that Zane has died. She tried to make him stop doing drugs but he was an addict after all. Now his fans are blaming her for his death. What will happen? Her sisters are worried so they talk to the Chief of Police of Lilac Lake, Nick, her old boyfriend. Will he be able to protect her.? His still has feelings for her. He let her go back then because he knew she had a future in acting and was a star, but will he let her go away again? As they start spending time together, she realizes that she has feelings for him. Will Whitney be in danger? Will she go back to Hollywood when and if things settle down? Can the two work out their future together? The characters are wonderful. I was rooting for this couple. They all deserve to find love and happiness. Worth the read. I received this book for my honest review. I give it voluntarily.
The Guilford sister have all moved back to their grandmother's property in order to keep one family cottage in the family after G.G. sells the Lilac Lake Inn. The stipulation with the new owner is at least one sister must live in the cabin for six months out the year. One drawback.is that it appears the cabin is haunted.
Whitney had recently come home after her co-star and ex-boyfriend Zach, dies of an overdose. He left Whitney to inherit everything and she is going to use it to start programs for children.
As Whitney settles in she reunites with her ex-boyfriend Nick, the chief of police, after an online group.of disgruntled fans blame Whitney for Zach's death and vow to get even.
The relationship of the three sisters and their grandmother is very well written, the reader can feel the love. They complement each other and their skill sets are perfect for the renovation and working hard to solve the mystery of the ghost and setting her free.
Great town and people. Like most small communities everyone knows everyone else which surprisingly makes the ghostly presence not easy to figure out.
This is the conclusion to the Lilac Lake series and is mostly Whitney’s story. She was an actress whose ex, Zane, died from drugs. She has come to Lilac Lake at her grandmother’s request with her 2 sisters. Whitney is working to set upa foundation for kids with mental health problems in Zane’s name. She is also starting a children’s theater program. One of the kids, Jamie, is the son of a macho guy who doesn’t like his son participating in anything other than sports. The sisters continue to try to figure out the ghost in the cottage story. Some of Zane’s followers blame Whitney for his death and threaten her. Dani and Taylor ask for the police chief, Nick’s help in keeping Whitney safe. Whitney and Nick had a brief romance as teenagers before she left to become an actress. This is a wonderful conclusion and wraps up all the stories in the series. But, to truly enjoy, be sure to start with Love by Design, the first story in the series and Dani’s story. Then read Love Between the Lines, Taylor’s story. You won’t be sorry! I was provided an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for my unbiased review.
Whitney is back in her hometown, with her sister's, renovating the Lilac Lake Inn and the cottage her grandmother GG has given them. Sometimes life gives you unexpected things to deal with, and in this book, Whitney has lots of things to deal with. As she moves forward in seeing where she is in life now, she decides there is so much negativity, that she decides to have the kids in the dance studio put on a play. This brings her joy and a light, that helps her through. There are times when the fear within her is so strong, she wants to give up, but she has her sister's and their fiancé's, her grandmother, many friends that she made while working on the play, plus she reconnected with her old boyfriend, Nick. Her journey is far from smooth right now, but she moves on, facing what life brings to her life each day. I loved reading all the discoveries she made along the way, the things she had to overcome, and finally see who she became by doing it. I received an ARC from Judith Keim, and like all her books, the connections that are created between the people are strong, I always connect with them, my soul really enjoys reading her books, this is another story that I will think about them for a very long time.
This is the concluding book to the Lilac Lake Inn series. The last sister, who is a famous actress is dealing with the death of her former love, an actor who died of a drug overdose, after years of addiction. She is also dealing with the unhappy reaction from his fans.
The cottage is approaching completion but there is still the matter of a possible ghost in the attic. Whitney hasn't felt the presence of a ghost, but her sisters have.
Whitney has also been surprised to have a former love rekindled, right there at Lilac Lake.
This series features strong, loving women who are talented, loving, and open to new life opportunities. Their intimate love lives are behind closed doors, but they are willing to share some details. This story is an overall happy story, but their is some angst and worry. Another great book that would be a wonderful add to a summer reading list. I would recommend reading the first two books in the series before this one, but it isn't required to fully enjoy this one.
Oh my I loved Whitney's story! This series is so good I highly recommend it.
The Gilford sisters are different from one another yet the same. Their love for each other is so heartwarming. Their grandmother brought them together again under different circumstances but will they prevail.
Whitney is the actress and has had some hard times with her ex-boyfriend, she is trying to hide out to let the paparazzi cool off with all the negative publicity and what better way than at The Lilac Lake Inn. Will she persevere or will she be dragged back into the Hollywood scene? What about the handsome Lilac Lake man that she once had a crush on growing up?
A wonderful story that kept me reading until the end. The author does an excellent job keeping the reader vested in the story. I loved every word, page, and chapter. I would really like the series continue but I think this is the last book in the series unfortunately. A wonderful clean series about women/sisters going through some trials of their own.
This is the third book in the series, but can be a standalone. It’s the oldest sister Whitney turn to find her HEA. The story has her sisters and GG, her grandmother from the previous books returning. Along with their mystery ghost who is occupying the cottage the three inherited. Whitney is a famed actress who is being stalked by fanatics of Zane her costar and ex boyfriend. She returns to Lilac Lake to grieve the death of Zane due to an overdose and to help her sisters with the renovation of the cottage. Trying to find prospective with where her life should now be going, she finds herself reconnecting with the small town of her childhood past, including her first love. A sweet read, but for me seemed to be a bit too corny and lacking. Maybe if I read the previous books it may have been different, but I don’t really think it would make a difference. Thank you #NetGalley for this ARC. The opinions expressed are my own. #TheLilacLakeInn#Series #LoveUndertheStars

A reason to read Judith Keim’s books is while she crafts a lovely romance in great vistas and areas and an arena of characters one will feel her presence as she deals into a societal issue or two. That’s not always a reason to decide to select a book but she achieves this by such a flow of storyline. The Lilac Lake Inn Series ends with the story of the oldest sister, Whitley, an actress. Issues with the death of her old boyfriend in LA has her struggling to wondering if the grand screen is still her priority and what are her options for an alternate career. Will her summer boyfriend from years ago at Lilac Lake be a deciding factor in her ability to commit to the area or will his career be a determining factor? Indulge in this series and be swept in the life of the three sisters. I received an ARC from the author and my review is my honest opinion.
I love this author’s books and I definitely wasn’t disappointed with Love Under the Stars. This is Whitney’s story. It’s a beautifully written second chance romance about Nick and her. We also get to catch up with Dani and Brad and Taylor and Cooper. If you haven’t read their stories yet, I highly recommend them. GG, their grandmother, has gifted them a beautiful cottage and they’re all waiting for the renovations to be completed. They’re also hoping the the matter of the ghost will be solved, so they’re not afraid to live there. I’m not going to leave any spoilers, but I will say all our questions will be answered and this book will leave you with a smile on your face. Grab your copy and see what happens.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
The Gilford girls are getting closer to finishing the renovations of their cottage, much to the delight of their grandmother Genie “GG” Whittier. Whitney is seeking ways to honor the memory of her dead co-star and former lover, Zane Blanchard. She is becoming closer to her two sisters, Dani and Taylor, and they would like her to find the same happiness they each have in their relationships but Whitney is afraid to risk her heart. As negative publicity on social media endangers her new life, Whitney falls back on an old friend to protect her and maybe rekindle old feelings.
This book is a perfect example of sisterly love and support. It brings the series together and ends on a beautiful note. It could be read as a standalone but you would miss so much without the entire series. I received an advance copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance reader copy of this story. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is my first book in the Lilac Lake Inn series. While I liked the story well enough, I can't say I'm going to go back to read the first two. The characters were fine but not engaging. I wasn't invested in the main characters although I did really like the grandmother, GG. The ghost in the cabin was interesting and I'd have liked more of that storyline. Maybe it was covered in the other books. I liked the old flame to current flame plot and was glad it worked out for everyone.
This story was so sweet. We got to visit with GG again plus all three sisters. Two are in committed relationships and Whitney is recovering from her old lover over dosing and maybe finding a new love. At the same time, they are rehabbing the cottage that their grandmother left for them, with the provision that it is lived in by at least one of them for 6 months of the year. Otherwise, the new owners of the Lake Inn had first rights to buy it. This story was about sisterhood, romance, family and solving a mystery of the cottage. An excellent story.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book was the perfect ending to this series set at Lilac Lake in New Hampshire. I really liked the Gilford sisters: Whitney, Dani, and Taylor. This book mostly focused on Whitney and I enjoyed her story, the romance, the mystery, and the scary moments that made the story come full circle or as their GG would say, "Life is full of circles." It was such fun picturing the sisters fixing up their Lilac Lake cottage and learning about their resident ghost. I hope the author will write more stories set in New England because I really enjoyed this one and the sisters. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review
Great addition to the Lilac Lake Series. Whitney, Dani, and Taylor are getting close to finishing renovations on the cottage to fulfill the agreement GG made. Much of the focus is on Whitney an actress who is taking a break from Hollywood. Whitney is trying to establish a foundation in Zane’s honor. Yet she is facing harassment from a group of supporters who call themselves Zaniacs. Police officer Nick offers to help keep Whitney safe.
The three sisters can depend on each other for sister time and support as they look forward to finding love in their life. Another mission is to solve the mystery of the ghost on the house.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion
The story of Whitney wraps up nicely the story of the three sisters of Lilac Lake. The lights of Hollywood have dimmed for Whitney after her former co-star and former ‘significant other’ died from a drug overdose. She decided to take a hiatus from acting and is enjoying her time with her sisters renovating a cottage their grandmother has given them. But there is more than the cottage for Whitney as she reconnects with her high school sweetheart. Another winner for author, Judith Keim. Continuing her tradition of giving her readers a heartwarming story of family, friendships and love. I received an arc from the author of this delightful book. This review is my honest opinion.
Book three in the Lilac Inn series is about Whitney. Whitney and her two sisters Dani and Taylor are working to restore the cottage near the Lilac Inn. Whitney is still healing from the death of her former boyfriend and co-star so stays in Lilac Lake. Trouble finds her with Zane’s fans so Whitney has to face that along with the death. Before they move into the cottage they must deal with the ghost they believe inhabits the cottage and interesting events happen. Does Whitney end up with anyone or does she go it alone as she watches her sisters fall in love. Read Love Under the Stars to find out.
This is book 3 in the Lilac Lake Inn series. I did not read books 1 0r 2. I'm assuming they are about Whitney's two sisters. Leaving Hollywood and a drug addicted boyfriend, Whitney returns to Lilac Lake at the call of her beloved Grandmother. In Lilac Lake, helping with the renovation of the cottage, Whitney starts to rethink her entire career. Lilac Lake is full of interesting people, including the man she’d once had a crush on. As she struggles to rediscover the woman she wants to be, Whitney and her two sisters become closer. And when danger arises, threatening the life of the man she’s come to love, Whitney realizes what’s she wants out of a new life. A nice fun read.
