I have mixed feelings on this one. The dynamic between Enrico and January fit well. They are both feisty, are not afraid to be in dangerous situations and like it rough. So there was lot more adventure in this one and they get handsy with one another and I did not know how to feel about it. Example; Enrico got a message from a tech savvy friend that January gave their location when they are in hiding. He feels betrayed and grabs her by the neck, throws her on the bed to confront her. She is surprised and says, why are you hurting me, he feels regret, but still holds onto her arms and lets her explain. She did not betray them, just wanted to throw them off and did not give their location away, just a hotel that looks just like it a few streets down from where they are. He apologizes, looks to see if he hurt her and she tells him, I'm ok, you didn't hurt me, you big brute.
After that the neck grabbing and rough sex is what they enjoy, and I like that a lot, it was just weirdly written where I had mixed feelings.
He does love her, when he first sees a pic of her, and kidnaps her. He already deemed her his future wife and wants lots of babies with her, I love love LOVE, when the Hero is unwavering in his strong feeling of love and forever, before even meeting the heroine! You cannot deny that he is head over heels for her. He is just not a gentle giant (and I prefer those), but he is rough and tough at 6'7, she enjoys it since she is rough around the edges too. He is super protective and growly and I enjoyed the majority of their adventures. The sex is hot, and the love is there.
I had this odd feeling I didn't like with the epilogue. He did not want a little girl, but their third kid is a little girl, Vivian, and she is described as a hellion. I like feisty, smarty pants kids, but the way that January and Enrico describe her and talk about her, seems closer to her being a bother and trouble maker, rather than, aww look at our little hellion, she is our princess and we love her. They do love her, but it seems like she was more of a nuisance to them and I did not like that. It would have been nice to read the inner monologue of them loving their daughter, it left me with the feeling that they don't when I know that they do. It just felt off to me. When you read it, you'll understand.
The last epilogue is Vivian turning 18 still a hellion and mad at Mateo, the Don's (Dario's) son. I hope we have a dual virgin romance with this second generation. Mateo wants Vivian and I am craving a dual virgin romance from CM Steele.
Anyways, yeah, I still recommend the read, it was just odd to me and a few parts I just didn't like. I preferred the first two in the series. I think Enrico was a little too gruff for me.
Happy reading!
