Novels of French writer Jules Gabriel Verne, considered the founder of modern science fiction, include Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864) and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873).

This author who pioneered the genre. People best know him for Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1870).

Verne wrote about space, air, and underwater travel before people invented navigable aircraft and practical submarines and devised any means of spacecraft. He ranks behind Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie as the second most translated author of all time. People made his prominent films. People often refer to Verne alongside Herbert George Wells as the "father of science fiction."

Che dire di questo libro, una lettura molto interessante e travolgente, una storia di avventura inverosimile ma altrettanto stupenda. I personaggi della storia mi sono piaciuti, certo, non c'è questo grande approfondimento su di loro che quindi risultano piatti, ma jules verne voleva mettere al centro il viaggio del protagonista e non il protagonista. Ambientazioni della storia molto suggestive, ritmo narrativo abbastanza veloce, tant'è che si corre da un battello all'altro, da un treno all'altro o da una nave all'altra insieme al protagonista. Secondo me rispetto a "Ventimila leghe sotto i mari" è due gradini in basso rispetto a tutto, carisma e profondità dei personaggi, trama di Ventimila leghe sotto i mari più dettagliata, intricata e interessante. Nonostante questo è un libro che si fa assolutamente leggere, non c'è dubbio...poi in questa veste grafica superba e con le illustrazioni, è tutto decisamente più bello. Un libro che si merita le sue 4 stelle su 5.
