When two powerful senators clash, Centurions Varro, Falco, and Curio find themselves branded traitors to the Republic. With Curio lost in Iberia and the others forced to hide, finding him is their only hope. Pushing forward with a single-minded drive, Varro and Falco launch a covert mission to prove their innocence and save all of them from exile.

But beyond finding Curio, they must confront a land on the brink of madness, and an adversary whose unreasoning wrath holds sway over all in his domain. Blood will be shed before this struggle between two worlds is done, and only the courage of these Roman heroes can bring redemption. In this thrilling historical adventure, where failure means death and success might be worse than exile, take a journey with Varro, Falco, and Curio into the darkest dreams of their enemy and experience the heart-pounding ride that awaits.

good quick read adventure story

Like his last few books, a good read even if improbable in its historical setting; however it is based on what was the Roman culture and what the Romans saw against them
