Hand drawn pen and ink illustrations partner with lyrical musings from rising poet, Lily Chesgreen who surmises the poet life is for the dreamers; a life where "You could dedicate your whole life to a melody that only you may ever understand." In "Thunder Has a Soul," they write, "When we start to fear lightning, we forget the life dependent on those storms." Read more from this, their first chapbook, designed by artist, Kevin Callahan, the poems read as an intimate journal, a book of questions. This collection "Kismet" was created with a Samantha Malay Editorial Scholarship to have a young high school artist create a solo poetry collection for Salt & Fig Books, folksy, narrative, free verse that is down to earth and strangely satisfying.
This book moved me in a way I never saw coming. I feel like it has changed me for the rest of my life. I see the world in a new perspective, I have found appreciation in all the little things in life. I am on the floor foaming at the mouth this book got me tweaking it is so good I cannot even contain myself. Lily is truly one of my favorite authors and I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the next book. I recommend this with my whole heart, mind, body and soul. Read it or be a loser folks!
