Sapphire Springs #1

Not Just Gal Pals

Rate this book
A feel-good sapphic fall rom com that’ll make you want to cozy up in front of a log fire with mug of steaming cider!

Jenny Lynton never planned to be an influencer. It just sort of…happened. When an unfortunate post results in Jenny being “almost canceled,” she extends her stay in her hometown, Sapphire Springs, New York, to wait out the storm. Jenny's agent suggests a fling with a flannel-wearing lumberjack might be just the thing to distract her. But after a string of disastrous dates, Jenny has sworn off flings. And lumberjacks are in short supply in Sapphire Springs. Lumberjanes, on the other hand... Blake Mitchell is Sapphire Spring’s only doctor. She’s also had a crush on Jenny since high school. A crush that makes her a socially awkward mess whenever she’s around Jenny. Blake moved back home to avoid being hurt by another relationship–there’s not exactly a lot of dating options for lesbians in Sapphire Springs–but Blake can’t stop thinking about Jenny now she’s back in town. When Jenny and Blake are forced to work together to save a friend’s bachelorette party, sparks fly. But with Jenny’s return to LA a ticking time-bomb, is it wise for them to explore their feelings for each other, or do they risk being hurt yet again?

There is something about small town romances that makes me want to pick them up-and that cover helped too. In Not Just Gal Pals, you are following an influencer city girl, Jenny, who comes back to Sapphire Springs for a couple months after being almost canceled, where she collides with the girl who hated her when they were in college, Blake Mitchell.

I adore having that main character who is so awful at talking with their crush that their crush ends up thinking the MC hates them- like the love of my life Lan Wanji. Only the forced proximity of having to plan their common friend’s wedding gave Blake the time she needed to stop being a mess around Jenny. But once they realized their attraction is not one-sided, there is another problem: Jenny is going back to the city in a couple of months, and Blake has her clinic and her whole life built in Sapphire Springs. Neither of them wants to have their heart broken at the end, they already know what it’s like falling in love with the wrong person but, wouldn’t it be a shame not using the time they have to explore the person they are obsessed with?

My favorite thing about this book is how much Jenny and Blake supported each other. The way Blake not only took Jenny’s pictures, but kept coming up with ideas for her, treating Jenny’s job as an influencer with the same respect everyone treated Blake’s job as a doctor. The way Jenny knew that Blake wasn’t good at social interactions and paperwork, and organized an entire fundraiser to help her patients get the help they needed. Also, Jenny was such a fun POV to follow and Blake's inability to text her crush like a normal person cracked me up every single time.

↬Exhibit A:
Jenny: Thanks again for coming out tonight. You were a huge help, and I had a really nice time.

Remembering George’s and Amanda’s urgings to use more emojis, I scrolled through the options available on my phone. Love heart. Nope, that seemed way too romantic. Smiley face. Nah, that didn’t really convey my agreement to her words. And then I spotted the thumbs up emoji and smiled.
Perfect .

↬Exhibit B:
Her navy hiking pants clung to it in an extremely flattering way, accentuating how round and firm it was. Like a dog having a treat dangled in front of it, Blake’s butt kept me going, reminding me why I was on this damn hike in the first place.

Overall, Not Just Gal Pals fulfills its promise: A light-hearted sapphic fall rom com that’ll make you want to cozy up in front of a log fire As someone who lately tends to gravitate around light-hearted books that are a bit angsty when they need to be, I would have made the third act a bit more dramatic. Without going into spoilers, the main character found the solution a bit too fast for my taste. I would have found it more realistic if she struggled more to figure out what to do, because it was quite a life-changing decision and it seemed even easy. That being said, I know there are people out there able to make huge decisions in the blink of an eye, so I wasn’t extremely mad about it either.

Every step of her life, Jenny’s gone with the flow. If not for someone else’s mistake, she would still be enjoying her job as an influencer, a job that took off organically. As it is, her agent suggested she take a break, and visiting the hometown she couldn’t wait to escape after high school seems the way to go, especially since her best friend is getting married. Of course, it means she’ll have to at least pretend to get along with Blake. Blake, whose crush on Jenny leads her to act awkwardly when in her presence, and apparently adulthood didn’t change that fact.

Not Just Gal Pals is a deliciously tropey romance but like one of its main characters, it’s a bit bland. Jenny is a fun character to follow, she’s both very kind and too hard on herself. Blake’s shyness is sweet but I would have loved for her to be more than the shy butch doctor with a crush.

If you’re looking for a very light, very easy, Hallmark-y read, this is for you. It’s thoroughly enjoyable, even if you probably won’t remember much afterwards. Sometimes, feeling good for a while is enough. And if you want more, there’s a bonus epilogue when you subscribe to the author’s newsletter. 3.5⭐️

“Not Just Gal Pals” by Elizabeth Luly is a Hallmark-esque cheesy rom-com. It’s sweet and cozy (perfect for fall) and just about angst free.

After being almost canceled as a social media influencer, Jenny, is told by her boss to go home for a few months and let things calm down. She’s immediately thrown into helping plan her best friend’s bachelorette party with Blake. Jenny and Blake were the only out girls in high school but were never friends because Blake was always rude. Unknown to Jenny, Blake wasn’t being rude, she just had a massive crush on Jenny and didn’t know how to respond and came across as being rude.

They’re awkward around each other and are just hoping to finally be done with having to see one another. And as it happens in Hallmark movies, things keep happening that keep throwing Jenny and Blake back into each other’s orbit again. They both embarrass themselves a lot and that’s where a good portion of the humor comes from. Some of it had me laughing and some of it had me feeling second hand embarrassment for them. Although, there was one line about watching seasonally inappropriate films and I felt that in my bones given I was reading about them drinking apple cider and wearing flannel while it was 109 degrees here. I probably laughed at that more than I should’ve.

Jenny and Blake eventually start a friends with benefits relationship. They know that Jenny being back in town is only temporary but it doesn’t seem to hold them back much. They end up spending most of their time together, even while not getting any “benefits.”

However, while their romance was rather sweet and fluffy and I liked the dates they go on, I felt their chemistry was lacking. I don’t know what was missing for me exactly but they always seemed like friends rather than lovers. Maybe a lack of depth to their characters or relationship?

Overall, I thought this was a cute romance with a lot of small-town fall vibes. This is low steam, especially for a friends with benefits storyline. I enjoyed my time with Sapphire Springs and am looking forward to the next book.

I read “sapphic romcom” and couldn’t pass up on this book. In general in general I think this statement is a bit misleading. I didn’t find this book to be really funny, it does deliver on some of the romance. It feels a bit like a cookie cutter romance in which the author tries to add some fun(ny) moments. To me, it all falls rather flat. I think it’s because I really don’t like one of the MCs (Jenny). She’s too superficial, or at least seems to superficial for my liking. It’s one of the pitfalls of having a social media influencer as a main character and having her pair up with a doctor.

This sorta enemies-to-lovers story just doesn’t hit the mark for me. I’m missing communication and the actual feeling like Blake and Jenny are meant to be. I did like the setting somewhat, but I was missing the real spark and thought it was a bit boring.
One major thing that annoyed me was a continuity thing, Blake and Jenny had Thanksgiving dinner, with both families (it was a short passage), only later to focus on a fundraiser around Thanksgiving with a Thanksgiving theme…. I guess editors and beta readers haven’t paid as close attention as I did….

My kids started back to school recently and even though it’s only August my brain immediately associates back to school with fall. I had an instant switch to craving reads about all the fall things and the book landed on my kindle at the most perfect time because it’s the coziest, cutest romance set during fall with so many fall activities and vibes. Blake and Jenny both secretly pined for each other and this light angst was so perfect for my mood. It’s a slow burn that was worth the wait because once these two hooked up their chemistry was hot. Sapphire Springs was the cutest little town and I’m thrilled it’s the start of a new series. Such a delightful read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Side note Elizabeth asked if she could name the bookshop/cafe Novel Gossip!! Seeing it in her book was just the coolest and now I kind of want to open my own bookshop/cafe with the same name 😂

This was an ok rom com. Jenny is a influencer living in Hollywood when she gets caught up in a situation where she and her dog Walter lose many followers. So she heads home to Sapphire Springs in the Adirondacks to stay with her parents and attend a close friend Amanda's wedding. Blake is someone she knew back when she lived here, who happens to be the local doctor. Unbeknownst to either of them, they've each held secret desire for each other, while never being friends. Some nicely done situations arise, but it only worked somewhat, pretty average I found.

Blake had a crush on Jenny since high school and she gets awkward when she is around Jenny. As a result, Jenny thinks Blake dislikes her. MCs are really cute together and it's really sweet to see them getting over the miscommunication and become close. But it stays rather superficial, the beginning of the book is mainly them fighting their attraction for each other. When they finally fall for one another, I didn't really feel the connection or understood what make them fall, expect that they love each other's company. I also had trouble believing any of Jenny's friend didn't know or mention to each others Jenny's scandal, like know one really care about her career.

Still, reading this rom com was like watching a Hallmarks movie. It's easy to read, here to be sweet and lightly entertaining without getting very deep, and it does perfectly its job making you feel light and comfortable.

Jenny Lynton and her little influencer dog Walter have returned home to Sapphire Springs to escape a hullabaloo with her social media subscribers. The local doc is her high school classmate Blake Mitchell. Subscriber angst, social media vindictiveness, wedding planning drama, humor and heat are in these pages. Somehow Jenny turns out to be the best planner and organizer with great ideas while at home but not in her own life. Blake is struggling to establish her practice. I couldn't warm to Jenny and Blake was so so. The attraction is there - should they get it on or not.......
A fast read but for me a cookie cutter romance that seemed forced. Rounded to 3 because of Walter who was the hit. Just my humble opinion please check other reviews.

Not Just Gal Pals by Elizabeth Luly, brought to life by the ever-talented Abby Craden, is the perfect audiobook to cozy up with this fall. This charming sapphic rom-com set in the picturesque town of Sapphire Springs delivers a delightful mix of humor, heart, and chemistry that will leave you smiling long after the last chapter.

Jenny Lynton, a reluctant influencer dealing with a PR hiccup, returns to her hometown to lay low, only to find herself navigating her undeniable connection with Sapphire Springs’ adorably awkward doctor, Blake Mitchell. The chemistry between them is palpable, and Blake’s high-school crush on Jenny creates some hilariously awkward yet endearing moments. Their journey from old acquaintances to something much more is heartwarming and filled with just the right amount of romantic tension.

Abby Craden’s narration is stellar, as always. She masterfully captures the charm of Jenny and Blake, breathing life into their personalities and the quirky, close-knit town of Sapphire Springs. Craden’s performance makes the small-town atmosphere feel vibrant and cozy, perfect for setting the autumn mood.

This story is everything you could want in a low-angst HEA romance. It’s sweet, funny, and brimming with feel-good moments. The added layers of humor, small-town antics, and a touch of forced proximity as Jenny and Blake team up for a bachelorette party make this rom-com sparkle. And the fall vibes? Absolute perfection. I could almost smell the cider and hear the crunch of leaves while listening.

If you’re looking for a charming, sapphic romance that feels like a warm hug on a crisp fall day, Not Just Gal Pals is the book for you. Elizabeth Luly and Abby Craden make the perfect pair in delivering this light-hearted gem that’s guaranteed to leave you with a happy heart. Highly recommend!

Sometimes, on Audible, I do an Abby Craden search and listen to whatever new Lesbian fiction book she has out. It’s usually a success. She seems to only narrate terrific books, so I guess we should thank her for her good taste, right? That’s how I stumbled across Not Just Gal Pals.

Jenny is an influencer who has come close to being cancelled. Think Ellen, but not quite so severe. She heads home to her small town, only to be roped into organising her bbf’s bachelorette’s party with a woman who hates her.

Only Blake doesn’t hate her. She has a crazy crush she can’t shake and shuts down every time Jenny speaks to her. The two women slowly get to know each other, walls are broken down, and feeling thrown out into the wild.

Elizebeth Luly is a new to me author, but she has followed the sweet, rom-com theory to perfection. Her characters are lovable and independent, and fit together perfectly Don’t miss this one!

3 stars. Cute for what it was and felt like a Hallmark movie with some spice but I ultimately didn’t love it. It’s well written and it’s a quick paced read. The romance was fine but I can’t say that I really bought into the chemistry between Jenny and Blake. It also didn’t help that I just didn’t like Jenny. She was really hard to like and her character had no depth. Also, I’m sorry but I roll my eyes any time someone complains about ‘cancel culture’. It grinds my gears and I can’t take you seriously but that’s because I genuinely don’t think that ‘cancel culture’ is a thing but that’s a soapbox for another day. Blake was the more interesting of the two for me and I liked her character. Overall, this was okay. I can see why other people love it but it didn’t quite land for me.

Is the title cringy and would any other name fit better? Yes. Did I enjoy this more than possibly any other book I read this year? Also yes. You get: suits but also regency dresses, Jane Austen parties, a dog even I like, a small town setting, autumn, a cafe that's called 'Novel Gossip' and so much baking and pastries, heck you even get them in an Eras tour t-shirt and it snows and I could not read this during lunch break at work because I would laugh so much and I do not know what more I need to say for you to read it, gay Gilmore Girls meets Beth O'Leary?

Oh how I love this book. I couldn’t put it down. It’s sweet, cute and dreamy.

Jenny Lynton is an influencer, you can tell she’s not happy with her job but after falling into it she’s not sure what else to do. She heads home to Sapphire Springs when some unflattering information comes to light about a company she endorsed. She needs to regroup and getting away from LA and the limelight seems like a good idea. In her mid thirties Jenny has had a string of relationships that never seem to go anywhere. She wants someone to want her for forever but always seems to fall for the wrong man or woman.
Blake Mitchell is a doctor. She owns the only medical practice in town and is still hurt from a relationship that ended a few years ago. She’s a lone eagle and has decided she’s better off alone. When the woman she’s had a crush on since high school comes back to town it throws Blake. But it’s only for a few weeks and sure they have mutual friends but surely she can just avoid her as much as possible, because when Blake is in Jenny’s presence she seems unable to string full sentences together.

The story in this book is delightful. Blake and Jenny have history and they both view that history negatively. It’s fun to watch them circle each other. They have a mutual friend who is getting married and keep getting thrown together. The way their relationship develops is gorgeous, it’s easy to see the sparks fly from the beginning and it actually doesn’t take them long to act on them. As much as I love a slow-burn what I loved most about this story is that you get to see the couple together for a large portion of the book. This gives you time to see how the relationship moulds Jenny and Blake as individuals as well as a couple. It’s really well written and the character development is fabulous. There is a cute pup called Walter and a sweet Kitty called Fred, a cast of friends and family, and a coffee/book store that I want to go and spend my days in.

It’s a brilliant read that has left me all warm and fuzzy and wanting more. This is a book to curl up on the sofa with. So grab your favourite blanket and a warm drink and get lost in Sapphire Springs, you won’t be sorry.

This was a fun, dual POV, Fall Sapphic romance between Jenny, a bisexual influencer from California and Blake, her former high school classmate and all around amazing small town lesbian doctor.

After nearly getting cancelled, Jenny is trying to recover her reputation embracing all things wholesome and New England in the Fall when her best friend Amanda asks her to help Blake plan her bachelorette.

Sparks fly as the two are continually forced to work together and eventually they strike up a no strings attached, 'let's bang out our feelings' arrangement.

I thought both women were relatable, loved the tight-knit, small town community, the dyslexia rep (Jenny), all the Jane Austen vibes AND the adorable pets! Recommended for fans of authors like Ashley H Blake or Alexandria Bellefleur.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the author for a complimentary early copy. I voluntarily read this book and all opinions are my own. I'm excited to read George's story next!

It took me 14 days to get through a 7-hour audiobook narrated by Abby Craden. Granted, maybe I would have liked it more if I’d read it? I’m not a huge Craden fan, so it’s hard to say if listening to it made it worse or not. Overall, this was painfully dull. I was so bored. I probably should have DNF’d it honestly.

Not Just Gal Pals is an Adult Contemporary romance that was so fun to read!

Social media influencer, Jenny, is caught up in a scandal that just might “cancel” her career. She decides to ride out the storm in her small hometown over the holidays. And while she misses her family and friends, she’s not looking forward to interacting with Blake again.

Blake is the town’s only doctor and is a bridesmaid alongside Jenny in their mutual friend’s wedding. Blake also had the biggest crush on Jenny back in high school and her crush always turned her into an awkward mess in Jenny’s presence. And nothing has changed as adults, Blake is still attracted to Jenny and is a socially awkward mess around her. But when the pair have to team up to save a bachelorette party, things just might change between them.

This is a cute and lighthearted story that has me so ready for all the fall vibes. I feel like my biggest complaint is poor Blake clearly doesn’t understand what a casual relationship is so it was killing me they kept referring to themselves as casual (even if admitting in their own heads it wasn’t) all while doing Serious Relationship Activities. They were setting their poor hearts up for failure, but I’m glad this was a romance novel with a happy ending 😅

This is an easy to read story with many cute aspects like Jenny’s dog, Walter, the cozy book cafe and its adorable sapphic owner, a fall photoshoot on a farm, and a wide variety of loving and supportive friends and family members.

If you love low conflict rom coms with a sprinkle of spice, this book is perfect for you! 🤗

this was pretty bad, to be honest. it took me way too long to read the whole thing because i got bored every 10 pages or so. i could tell from the first pages this wasn't the book for me so i should've just dnf then. i wouldn't really recommend this to anyone who likes romance with at least a little bit of chemistry and interesting characters because this book lacks all of that.

Blake is the local Doctor and her High School crush Jenny has just arrived back in town.

Jenny is a social media influencer back home from LA. The two are forced to work together to help at their friends wedding. Sparks soon begin to fly but are they both just looking for casual?

It's a wee bit cheesy in places but overall I did enjoy it.

So if you are looking for a cosy Autumnal American Romance with spice and no real drama this is for you!

Happy Sapphic September (and the official staff to girl in red season)! What better way to start the month than with a book called “Not Just Gal Pals”?

This was a cute, hilarious, and cozy rom com with the perfect fall setting! A bit grumpy + sunshine, a bit opposites attract, and a whole lot of chemistry! I really loved the dual POV because it added so much depth to both Jenny and Blake!

I very much related to Blake when (after being told to include emojis in her texts so she wouldn’t come across as gruff) she was trying to compose a socially acceptable enthusiastic reply to Jenny’s sweet message and decided on “👍🏼”. This is also the level of emotional expression I’m currently at in life.
And also, a dog named Walter!!!

Thank you NetGalley and West Brunswick Press for this arc ☕️🍁

Not Just Gal Pals by Elizabeth Luly was a welcome change of pace compared to most rom-com novels. It doesn't follow the typical "get together - breakup due to argument/miscommunication - get back together" plot line that most romances seem to stick to. I enjoyed the characters, the small-town feel, and the holiday setting.

That being said, I have one major complaint: Jenny's career. Her career sometimes leads her to be superficial, and her rant about "cancel culture" annoyed me. It's not a huge deal, and the story is okay enough with that involved, but I think her career could've been changed and this aspect removed from the story without it having too much of an impact.

Jenny and Blake were so cute together, and I can't wait for book 2!

Thank you to the publisher for giving me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A small town, sapphic romance?? SAY LESS!

Social media influencer, Jenny, has an unfortunate online scandal that leads her to extend her stay in her hometown. Blake is the small town's only doctor, and has had a huge crush on Jenny since high school. Jenny and Blake now are forced to work together to help with their friend's bachelorette party and wedding... and this is a romance so I'm sure you can guess the rest.

I loved this! Definitely gave me 'Deliliah Green Doesn't Care" vibes, being sapphic, set in a small town, wedding planning, and characters having a crush since high school.

I really enjoyed that Blake was so awkward around Jenny due to her nerves. She was super sweet and relatable. Plus her 'middle age man' texting techniques were hilarious, and I agree with Jenny that the thumbs up emoji is in fact sarcastic unless coming from a dad or grandpa.

I was giggling and blushing throughout with: "I'd still optimistically cut my fingernails this afternoon, hoping the night might end at Blake's" plus the whole bald eagle thing, and the epilogue 😍

Also had some great discussions on social media. "People can lose their livelihood over genuine mistakes, while some rich, famous, white guy who has sexually harassed a number of women can avoid censor or bounce back quickly." 👀👀 side-eyeing the many real-life white, men online who still have platforms despite their behaviour to women or minors...

Early in the book we also see some great comments around school, Jenny reveals "A dyslexia diagnosis in my early twenties had explained a lot. Unfortunately, I didn't get the diagnosis in time to make school a less painful experience."

I assume the book title came from a scene where a stranger sees the women out with Blake's niece and nephew and assumes they are a family and we get the quote: "To be honest, it was refreshing. The number of times I'd been out with a woman I was dating, only for people to assume she was just my friend, my sister, or even once - much to my date's horror - my mom, was too many to count. It was nice for once for the assumption to go the other way. Blake and I weren't dating, or even friends, but this woman had thought we were a couple." Which was a nice scene to have in the book, but other than that I feel as if the title choice is maybe a little odd? I don't see why else it was chosen, as the characters don't even start out as friends? I kind of feel like there could've been many different title options to go with that would've maybe fit better.

Lastly, I really loved the discussion around not relying on your significant other to provide you with happiness. Something that helped the characters feel more mature and the ages they were meant to be (which is refreshing because often times 'adult' characters in romance books feel/act more like teenagers). The 'third act conflict' also wasn't a miscommunication or something silly that felt forced, it was a genuine adult problem that felt realistic.
"She wasn't making my mistake of planning her whole life around a love interest. She'd found something she was genuinely passionate about and was pursuing it with fervor."

Overall, I really enjoyed this one, and would recommend for all my sapphic romance lovers. Also, found out in the 'about the author' section at the end, that she lives in Melbourne! I had no idea, and I love supporting Aussie authors! Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an arc for review.

I love the (sorta) second chance romance, small town setting with some forced proximity.

This book would make a killer rom-com movie! I laughed out loud on multiple occasions and swooned into a puddle at the thought of these heroins together. It’s a sort of second chance romance but not in the usual sense.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Blake has worked hard to start her own medical practice in her home town of Sapphire Springs. She loves being part of the community. After a few relationships that ended in heartbreak, she has decided to be happy flying solo. Her only weakness is scrolling through the social media updates of her high school crush Jenny.

Jenny is doing great as a social media influencer when one bad sponsorship deal sends it all tumbling down. She’s cancelled, at least for now. To get some air she decides a couple months in her hometown might be just what she needs. The timing is perfect since her best friend is getting married in Sapphire Springs. If only she wouldn’t be forced to work together with Blake: the girl that hated her in high school.

Blake is tongue tied when it comes to Jenny. How is it this girl still makes her heart race and is even more beautiful in 3D as opposed to the version she has seen in hundreds of social media posts. The misunderstandings between the two women lead to hilarious situations. The book alternates between Jenny’s and Blake’s perspectives and as a reader you can’t help but yell at the pages because of the misinterpretations these two make about each others behavior. Luckily the ice thaws and soon develops a bond that seems unbreakable, or isn’t it?

Luly’s writing seems effortless. She weaves the story easily and as a reader you only have to jump on the train to enjoy the ride. The main characters are well developed and they deal with life like real people. The struggles they face are relatable as are their reactions to them. The cast of side characters enhance the story but never distract from the main events.

I found the clumsy, everyday life situations Luly describes very relatable and therefore super funny. I snickered a lot throughout the book because I could actually see it happening in my mind’s eye.

The town of Sapphire Springs is a character in itself. The community and the quaint atmosphere makes you want to book a weekend getaway and order a slice of heavenly pie at Novel Gossip.

In short, this is a great cosy and funny read for the beach or in front of a fireplace on a cold winters day!

Not Just Gal Pals is sort of an enemies to lovers, but that mostly has to do with miscommunication. Blake has had a crush on Jenny since they were in high school. Jenny comes back to town, taking a break from her Instagram influencer career for her friends wedding. Both Jenny and Blake also happen to both be bridesmaids for their mutual friend.

Throughout all of the bridesmaids shenanigans and Jenny trying to keep up with her influencer job, her and Blake slowly becomes friends. Eventually, they let their feelings out, and then they can't really keep their hands off each other.

I felt like there was quite a bit of character development, as well as plot. The book was well paced until the last 15-20%, I feel like - which is really my own personal complaint. I feel like it wrapped up too quick and it felt like like the author was just trying to push out an ending, or like she got bored with it.

Without giving too much away, there's a part where a character accidentally goes to the wrong place, and instead of knowing the character feels or the panic that would come along with that, she just says that someone is going to pick her up, and that's it. I think that was the part that upset me the most.

Overall, this was a quick, fun read. I'd recommend it to someone wanting to read a rom-com over the weekend, or just wanting to read a fun book.

This was such a heartwarming and sweet small town romance! Both the main characters and side characters were interesting and endearing. I love the fact that this book avoided the pitfalls of heavy romantic drama and kept it pretty light and cosy. I absolutely loved the butch representation in Blake and George, and I'm so happy to know that the next book in the series is going to center George and a romance of her own! This is the first sapphic romance series I've started where two back to back books will have butch romantic interests (having even one is a tall order apparently...) and I'm beyond excited for it!
