Despite the hard labour, harsh winters, and racist treatment, Chidori decides to make the best of their new home – she has no choice.After almost one year in a prisoner camp, Germany surrenders and Hayden is finally able to make his way back to Chidori and the three-year-old son he's never met. Reuniting with a family he doesn't know anymore, in a town he's never been to before, while haunted by the trauma of war is the toughest battle of his life – one he might not be strong enough to endure.
