The audio version of Dylan's Dilemma is available now, beautifully performed by John Solo. If you haven't read this one yet (or even if you have), I highly recommend it!
It’s Dylan’s turn to have his story told in Dylan’s Dilemma, episode #4 of K.C. Wells’ Maine Men series. You can read these stories independently, or in any order, though it’s been fun to see the changes in this tight knit group as each of the guys finds their partner. Plus, the friend group does pop up in each of the novels. These buddies support each other as they work out some of life’s problems, learn more about themselves, and find love along the way.
In Dylan’s Dilemma the main character faces several predicaments, and his choices result in some big life changes. A longtime victim of his passive aggressive family’s constant digs and predices, Dylan is afraid to stand up for himself. And worst of all, Dylan feels that there’s something wrong with his wants and desires.
The effort of maintaining his career is wearing Mark down, and he’s come to a point where his life needs an overhaul. He’s been living in Maine for a while, but hasn’t made any connections in the community. So when he sees the cutie from the hotel, Mark takes the opportunity to strike up a conversation.
While Dylan’s initial attraction to hunky Mark is purely physical, once these two get to know each other they get along beautifully. Mark’s self confidence and straightforward attitude helps Dylan open up about his true desires. And as his walls come down, Dylan and Mark forge a bond, before they ever start a romantic relationship.
Dylan slowly grows to realize that lust alone isn’t enough, even being honest about his desires isn’t enough, for him to make the passionate connection he longs for. To truly matter to his lover, Dylan needs to forge an intimacy he hasn’t found in a partner until Mark. Dylan’s exploration of his sexuality is beautifully written, and I love the changes that come over Mark's character as these two venture into this romantic relationship
Each book in this series is filled with the gorgeous erotica I count on from K.C. Wells, plus the couples’ playful banter, and genuine affection are a joy to read.
a copy of Dylan’s Dilemma was generously provided by the author for the purpose of my honest review
5 “You really think I could walk away from what we have?” stars
I love you, Dylan Martin. I love your sense of humor, your quirks, your kinks—all of them.
This book really got to me and has instantly become my favourite book in this series.
While I have enjoyed the other books in this series a fair bit and knew I probably would like this one too, I was taken by surprise by how much I enjoyed this book. I had the best time reading this. This was a sweet book that didn’t have much angst but still had a conflict, which is my favourite type of book and this book was a perfect take on that type of book. It offered me everything I want in a book and I loved it.
Brief Summary Dylan has fantasized about being with a man but he hasn’t experienced what it’s like being with a man yet. However, he is absolutely obsessed with a porn star named Mark and watches all of his videos. Dylan works in a hotel and Mark goes there to film a video. They get to talking to each other, become good friends and then they fall in love.
First, these two were such a good couple. I absolutely loved them together. I loved their acceptance of each other. I loved how they did everything to reassure each other when the situation called for me. I loved how they were always there for each other. I loved how they took care of each other. I loved how Mark was always observing Dylan and could tell when something was wrong. To be fair, I loved everything about them together.
Second, the sexual exploration in this book was so good. I always love a good sexual exploration in books and this one was perfect for me. I loved seeing how Dylan wanted to try to be with a man but he was scared to. I loved seeing him come out of his shell and decide that he’s ready to explore. The entire process was so good and very realistic. Also, the sex scenes were very hot and I enjoyed them very much. I loved how they showed Dylan exploring many things, including different kinks, to see what he is into. Also, I loved how Mark never forced Dylan to come out and let him do it when he was ready. He was such a good cheering squad. I really loved how Dylan came to terms with his sexuality on his own terms. This definitely was a lovely depiction of sexual exploration and I adored it.
Also, side note, I really loved how the sex scenes were done, they were great and they felt realistic because they were laced with the kind of worries one gets when trying new things in bed, which worked so well for me since it was Dylan’s first time exploring those things.
Third, their communication was just so good. I loved how they talked about everything and made sure that when it was time to come up with a solution to any issue, they did it together. I loved that when they fought about something, they didn’t just leave each other, they talked about the situation until they both were happy again and that was it. It was so good and their way of solving conflicts was absolutely lovely to me.
Fourth, my favourite type of books are the sweet lower angst books, but they still have conflict and this one was exactly that. It was sweet but never too sweet for me and I like how there was conflict but it never took over the sweet plot. The mix of everything worked so well for me, this book was a perfect combination of everything I love in a book.
Fifth, I loved how Dylan had a family he was estranged from and that was manipulative was shown. I loved how Mark having a family who didn’t accept him was shown. I liked that it was shown in a realistic manner and that they didn’t just randomly forgive their families for no reason at some point. I liked that the book showed that sometimes it doesn’t work out with your family and that they just won’t accept you, no matter what you do. These were some of the most realistic portrayals of a family that didn’t really accept their kid that I have ever seen in a book and I adored it. I really appreciated how every side character in this book was very fleshed out and had motives and reasons to act the way they did, the characters were done in such a good way and I really appreciated it.
I’m very excited for the next book in this series. In fact, I cannot wait for it, it sounds absolutely lovely to me.
I received an ARC of this book, and this is my honest review.
K.C. Wells has been my big author discovery this year, it all started with Gay on a Train and the Maine Men series settled it. I've loved every single book in this series and this one wasn't any different.
Dylan has been one of the friends that I've been most interested in reading his story. There was something about his quiet noisiness that had me all excited for his book. And boy, did it deliver. I was hooked from the very first page. I already knew I loved Dylan and I was soon just as in love with Mark. They were great together. The way Mark was so understanding of Dylan and took his time letting him dream, explore and discover was heartwarming. This book was a little kinkier than the others but I really enjoyed that as well.
It can be read as a standalone but I believe in reading this series in order the get the full picture of the amazing friendship going on between these guys. There's a lot of them and there's more guys added all the time, so it might be good for keeping track of the characters if nothing else.
I enjoyed this one the most so far in this series, I loved both characters and believed in Dylan's journey of sexual discovery.
Mark's experience within the sex industry was also well done, although again, as with the last book, I felt like I was being walked through a p*rn shot in some of the intimate scenes.
Still, very sweet alongside the steam and I believed totally in them as a couple with a happy ending.
I love these books. I’m sure I said that before. Anyway, it’s so much fun to go back and visit with all the wonderful characters in these stories. Dylan was my least favorite character so I was hesitant about just reading his story so I waited for the audiobook and John Solo. It did take me a little longer to get into the story but I soon was in love with Dylan and Mark.
"Dylan's Dilemma" is the fourth book in a series about eight friends who met in high school and are still living in Maine and relatively close to each other.
This was the first book I read of the series and I have to say that I was a little bit lost during the first chapter. I believe that it starts right where the previous story ended, but we just get thrown in, reading a scene out of context. I got with the program a little bit later though and once that happened, everything moved along much more smoothly.
Other that the opening scene of the story, this can work as a standalone. It has a new main couple and the previous characters don't have a strong presence in the story. Honestly, for a supposedly tight knit group, they didn't communicate or meet often. I was slightly disappointed by that.
The main characters in this book are Dylan, one of the aforementioned eight friends, and Mark.
Dylan has been working in a local hotel since he was eighteen and he's happy with his life. He's on the verge of coming to terms with the fact that there's a possibility he might be bisexual instead of straight, but his family's toxic comments and ideas are subconsciously keeping him back from acknowledging his true self and even from believing he deserves to be happy.
Mark has been working as a porn star for about eighteen years and he's starting to feel the need for something else in life. He's not in contact with his family, because they won't accept him being gay, and, even though he has many work acquaintances, he doesn't really have any friends.
When the two meet, they start spending time together with the plan of Dylan showing Mark around town. Soon, they can't deny their attraction any more and move from tentative friends to lovers. The whole thing though is as if it exists in a bubble for most of the story. They mainly spend time just the two of them with occasional quick scenes of one of them interacting with someone else.
For the majority of the story, there's an uncertainty about whether Mark will continue making videos or he'll move on to something else, and I have to say that I was disappointed with the end result. But I'm sure that other readers will feel differently.
It's an interesting story with some great scene descriptions about places around Wells, the characters were pleasant and the plot was engaging. The pace of the relationship was fairly fast and I would have liked to see more scenes of them being in the outside world as a couple. In general, I liked the book and I had fun while reading it, I think that I'll keep an eye out for the rest of the stories, especially Levi's, as I really want to learn who he'll end up with and who he's in love with.
After some introduction about both men, what’s going on in their current life, with friends, family, and work, the story works up to the moment they’ll meet.
Dylan, secretly, watches every movie with gay porn star Mark Roman. His best friends assume he’s straight, he tells them anyway, but he’s certainly bi-curious. Dylan can’t believe his luck meeting Mark in the hotel Dylan works. It seems Mark will shoot some film.
After being banned from the hotel Mark’s way split with his co-workers. Then he meets the cute guy from the hotel again. Dylan is different, they talk and Dylan isn’t asking for selfies or porn stories. They clicked, as friends, of course, nothing more. Mark is lonely, Dylan is great company, he knows Maine and shows Mark around.
Their friendship is precious, while they are quite different, in years, work, and personality, they have similarities where they can give each other some hard needed support. At some point, there is a drastic turn with their involvement.
I must confess it took me a while to warm up to the story and both guys, separately I liked them, together not so, for me it was all way too sweet and even a bit *whisper* boring. But on the way it got much better for me, the connection between them got stronger, more palpable, there was some more excitement and I felt more connected. The writing is smooth, friendly, and captivatingly streamlined. A sweet story, not my favorite of this series, still enjoyable, we meet all the Maine Men again, and in the center is granny, I loved that.
Explore, Dream, Discover. Also, remember, "do not let yourself regret what you didn't do..." Marcus gave Dylan excellent advice. Love had eluded Dylan, but now he's determined. We are back with our Maine men, best friends who have each other's backs through thick and thin. Dylan, 26, (on cover) works the night shift at a local hotel, who is straight, but becomes bi-curious. He lives in a house with four roommates. He's lonely and is seeing his best pals find their "ones" has him jealous. Mark, 35, is a porn star on Dylan's now favorite site. His hair has silver and silver in his scruff, plus a tattoo. Mark knows his days are numbered in porn, but what else would he do? He's done it since he was 17.
Dylan sees Mark come to the hotel, and they meet. They begin to hang out, as Dylan guides him around the area, and the easy going guys get along, swap stories and become friends. Dylan took Mark go-carting, mini golf, and other fun, then lunch. The laughter felt so good for both men. Mark has been deciding what to do beyond porn and his website.
Mark begins teaching Dylan about M/M sexy times and Dylan loved it.
First times that rocked his world, while they both got satisfaction, intensity and passionate embraces, plus the friends move to lovers, and much more.
It's a marvelous story that leads to unexpected strength in adversity, and then pure happiness. Dylan stands up for himself, and Mark must deal with his grandfather's death and his horrible family.
Dylan is by his side, and they have issues to iron out.
Consigliato.
rep - mlm, porn actor mc2 tw - emotionally abusive family, homophobia, homophobic comments, death of a loved one
i loved this one so very much. i've enjoyed every second of the book, from the moment they met to the epilogue. the theme of being a porn actor, struggling with the industry and finding genuine love with someone who doesn't care about his career. i needed trigger warnings for the couple of moments with dylan's family. it hit just a bit too close do home.
they are absolutely perfect for each other.. i love how in each book our Maine Men outdo the others
What a wonderful series! Dylan's Dilemma is book 4 and is set in the gorgeous town of Wells in Maine, US. The descriptions of the scenery are so good I feel like I already know the place and want a return visit.
Dylan and Mark are both very different personalities, but both have one thing in common, their truly awful families. Dylan's family don't like his friends and have spent most of his upbringing making negative comments towards him and what he does, resulting in Dylan moving out as soon as he could and thinking he is abnormal and lacking in confidence. Marks family, apart from his Grandpa, disowned him when he came out as gay. While Dylan lacks confidence, Mark rebelled and set out to be a popular and successful porn star. When a shoot at a local hotel is stopped by the hotel manager, it doesn't take Mark long to realise how he found out when he recognizes Dylan sulking in a coffee shop. The two begin chatting and discover how well they get on together and become good friends. Dylan then realises that he is bi and asks Mark to help him understand his feelings. The journey into hotness and love begins, with both men having to overcome some life challenges before reaching their HEA.
Being a KC Wells book, the story flowed wonderfully and also included characters from previous books. I especially loved Sebs reaction to Mark (yes of course he recognised him), which made me laugh, as did Marcus's attempt to reign him in. I can definitely recommend this book which can be read as a stand alone, but to get the most from the story, it's better read in the order of the series. i was kindly gifted an ARC for an honest review.
This book is seriously HOT. I loved it when I read it with my eyes but I really hoped that John Solo would be doing the audiobook since he does a lot of them for KC Wells. My wish came true and I loved this story all over again while listening to John. He nailed the emotions of the two main characters.
This series just keeps getting better and better. Each of the books are very different from each other and yet they are linked by the friendships among the “Maine Men” as they each get their HEA. At this point, I’d really have a hard time picking my favorite story but this one really touched me.
Dylan isn’t out to anyone. His family is emotionally abusive and homophobic; they never approved of his group of friends because some of them are gay. Keeping these friends is about the only thing Dylan has done to stand up to them – until now.
Mark is a well-known porn star but he longs for a partner who will accept him as he is, including his occupation. He’s also been thinking about retiring from doing porn but hasn’t figured out what he can do for income if he does.
I love how Mark gave Dylan the confidence he needs to follow through with his secret desires. And Dylan gives Mark the personal relationship connection he’s been looking for. These two guys just fit with each other. What starts out as a way to let Dylan experiment with his desires soon turns into something much more.
This was a fairly low angst read and holy he11 is it HOT! Mark is a great teacher and Dylan is an eager student. This is such a great story and the audio includes a preview of Shaun’s Salvation coming in January 2022; I can’t wait to read and/or listen to it.
A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.

Dylan 25, works as a shift supervisor in a Hotel in Wells, Maine. He reports anything unusual goings on in the hotel to the Manager. He spends the quiet hours of the night shift watching porn. He is confused about his own sexuality, he thinks he might be bi. He has a thing about one of the guys in the porn movies he watches.
Mark Roman 36, is the number one porn star and he checks into the hotel while Dylan is on duty.
No spoilers, but I had to suspend belief on this story from early on, so therefore I found it difficult to connect with the two MC. Both have their own baggage from unsupportive families, but again, Dylan’s has a great bunch of friends who will be recognisable from previous books in this series, Seb, Finn, Ben, Levi, etc.
So I’ve given my lowest rating of 3 for this series so far, mainly because of my lack of connection to Mark in particular but also because the switch over for Dylan seems to have been a bit too quick.
I wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I did, I won’t lie! Dylan from the jump was someone I connected to, and that really helped to pull me into his story. I do kinda of wish I read the previous 3 books in this series, just because the relationships formed are brought up a lot and I felt a little in the dark, but that didn’t take away from the story. We all have a *celebrity* crush, so it’s fun to see, in an obviously best case scenario way, how that would play out. I loved the setting of Wells, Maine (my neighboring state) as well as the conflicts that arise for the pair. Dylan’s questioning his sexuality, as well as Mark’s family past and the reaction previous guys have had to his profession. I enjoyed reading Mark help Dylan become more comfortable with himself in his skin. This was all heightened by a stellar cast of b-List characters (again, I gotta go back and read those other books now). Marks grandpa is the real MVP of this story. The spicy scenes were fantastic as well, just the right amount of spice to pull you in without taking away or cheapening the plot. A lovey read, for sure
I don't know how K.C. Wells keeps writing men that constantly one-up the ones in the previous books of the series, but Dylan and Mark were simply amazing!!
I adored how the relationship between them played out, evolving from a friendship to sexual exploration, and then to falling in love. They both found something they weren't looking for but definitely needed, and together they were passionate, understanding, patient and loving.
This was the first book in this series that K.C. Wells didn't give awesome families to her protagonists... all the opposite. But, it was compensated with the many beautiful moments with Dylan's friends, single or with their significant others, that were showcased throughout the book, also with a few other new endearing characters.
I've savored every page of Dylan's Dilemma and I am looking forward to the future books in this series.
This is another wonderful instalment in the Maine Men series. This time Dylan gets his story told. He has been questioning his sexuality for a while and circumstances have him crossing paths with Mark who is rather well known in the world of adult entertainment.
So begins a wonderful story of self discovery, not just for Dylan but for Mark as well. It’s a real joy watching Dylan grow in confidence in the non judgemental and supportive environment that Mark provides. Not to mention the chemistry between them that sizzles along leading to a lot of heated steamy times!
My heart did hurt a bit due to the treatment Mark received from his family and also how Dylan’s parents were quite toxic towards their son. But my heart was also very happy when they got their HEA. I found this to be an easy and enjoyable read with a great cast of characters to hold my interest and I look forward to Shaun getting his story told next.
Tre stelle e mezzo Hugs&kisses
The choices we make in life determine the path we take. Dylan, a supervisor at the hotel had a choice that gave him his HEA. Mark had a choice to continue in his line of career or find something else more settled. Their paths crossed and became one. This is book 4 in the Maine Men series and although can be read standalone, it is much more fun to have the friends bring their support and love that created this found family. K C Wells, although there is always a bit of drama, always leaves me contented and peacefull. I received a copy from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest review.
A chance meeting your fantasy man, that’s exactly how Hotel Reception Desk Manager Dylan’s and Porn Actor Mark’s relationship begins. I enjoyed the interesting enough premise with its likable MCs and all the bits and pieces of this series. A good, easy read.
I loved Dylan's Dilemma! It is a beautiful story. Dylan and Mark are perfect for each other. They are a sweet couple. I was so glad they were there for each other. Both families made me want to scream, But I loved the unconditional love and acceptance from Daylan's friends. I can't wait for Shaun's story.
