Lottie He's off limits. The one man I can't have, and yet the one man I want more than anything. He's forbidden to me, I've been warned. I could lose everything, but without him, I could lose more.
Ash It's complicated. She's my daughter's best friend and I know she's been told to stay away. But I can't live without her. She's my goddess. The one I've been waiting for all these years for. I'll risk everything for her.
An age gap, forbidden romance that will have you questioning what's right and if anything is ever wrong.
This is an age gap romance and while I get the allure of the “daddy” term, it’s not one I like, especially as this story revolves around two best friends and one of their biological parents.
The FMC is Emme and she is not afraid to use sex to get what she wants. She is an enjoyable character and the first couple of chapters were an easy read.
However, I didn’t like the MMC Ash and his “co*k” I mean seriously the word is repetitive to the extreme.
For a “mature” character his inner dialogue sounds like a prepubescent boy.
The sex scenes are very detailed to the point of overkill. I ended up just flipping pages to get to the story.
This was a super quick read and I adored it! The build up was torturous but done so well. The will they, wont they, fighting to behave had me giggling. The angst had my heart clenching but thankfully, went by fast so I wasn’t bawling my eyes out. I rated it 4 stars because once the main characters hook up, the rest of the book is really p*rn without plot but it’s well written and easy to read. It isn’t a true daddy k*nk either, more so just that she calls him daddy.
*I received this as an ARC but all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own*
I’m a newbie to this author! This is a fast pace read with an age gap and lots of spice. I enjoyed the book even though I don’t read much of age gap romance. It had a great story and kept on track. Of course, there were some grammatical errors but that’s to be expected. I will definitely read more from the author. Thank you for the opportunity! 🤗🤗
if you're looking for an agegap with forbidden romance and good spice than this is for you. Ash is hardworking successful CEO with a kind and sweet demure . Lottie is a sassy but confident person in almost all she does with a underlying of vulnerability. My favorite chapters has to be 3 and 13. This was such a quick spicy read with a bit of tension. I honestly loved this and wished it was a bit longer to see more of them. Definitely recommended.
It’s the typical dad of a bestfriend type of situation. The start of their relationship was just quite abrupt. I mean they saw each other a day or two and suddenly wanted to pounce on each other. It was just a bit weird. But it was an enjoyable read, lots of steamy scenes.
Ok firstly, wow what a book lol from the get go I was hooked and I absolutely love Lottie and her attitude she had me giggling instantly. Clearly a sex addict but I absolutely love that aspect lol it was such a great read and as always a well written book by Ivy
Arc review ** I’m not a fan of the “daddy” trope, even being so, this was a really fun short read. Best friends dad is a hot mess and I do mean 🥵 in a good way. This is a very very spicy book! Like 4🌶️ spicy.
I read an ARC copy of this and loved every page of it! Daddy Ash is just everything. I laughed out loud a few times and smiled a lot. This book had it all and left me wanting more.
I couldn't put this book down! This fast paced age gap romance between a lonely millionaire dad and his daughters best friend has spice in all the right places without losing any of the plot. Call me Daddy, yes sir I will! Can't wait to read more from this author!
Loved this book! The secrecy and taboo of it had me absolutely hooked Loved the writing and every single spicy scene was absolutely scorching hot! My first Ivy book and definitely not my last! My advice would be to go in blind and just let the story sweep you up!
I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Books and Bitches ARC team and to the talented Ivy Lane for granting me the privilege to immerse myself in the enchanting world of "Delicate Lies." Published by Midnight Dreary Publishing on October 13, 2023, this book is a captivating addition to the forbidden romance genre, delving into the complexities of desire and attraction, and it is available for pre-order on Amazon for Kindle.
The story introduces us to Lottie and Ash, two individuals ensnared in the web of forbidden love. Lottie finds herself irresistibly drawn to a man she can't have, while Ash grapples with his attraction to his daughter's best friend. Their connection is undeniable, and their forbidden desire leads to a love that defies societal norms.
"Delicate Lies" weaves an age gap romance that explores the boundaries of what's considered right and wrong when it comes to matters of the heart. Ivy Lane crafts a narrative that is equal parts emotional and scintillating, challenging readers to question the constraints of love and societal expectations.
Despite its brevity at 159 pages, the book is masterfully written, drawing readers in from the first page and leaving them yearning for more. It's a tale that serves as a perfect palate cleanser for those seeking a change in genre or tropes. The author's ability to create a captivating narrative within a shorter format is truly commendable.
In conclusion, "Delicate Lies" is an irresistible and thought-provoking forbidden romance. Ivy Lane's storytelling prowess shines through in this enthralling tale of love, attraction, and societal norms. If you're in search of a book that challenges conventions, tugs at your heartstrings, and keeps you utterly engrossed from beginning to end, "Delicate Lies" is a five-star gem that deserves a special place on your reading list.
Delicate Lies is a quick read that heavily focuses on the spice, and whilst it is predominantly more smut than storyline, with some very descriptive scenes between Lottie and Ash, I have to commend the author on the fantastic characterisation of Lottie. Lottie is a sex addict; she's overly promiscuous and uses her sexuality to get her through life until her friend sends her to therapy, and then she meets Ash, her best friend's dad. It would be easy to just see that one side of her character, who values sex above everything else, but through inner monologues, we get to see a much more softer and vulnerable side, and personally, I found it made her character more personable. Lottie has had a rough upbringing and has never felt love. She uses sex as a way to garner affection from others, but she also uses it as a way to gain power and feel in control of situations because it's the only way she knows how. She talks about abandonment issues, and that just cements the idea of hookups rather than commitment because she's scared to let someone in too deep and then be rejected. It's because of this fear that even when she has the chance of happiness, she chooses to sacrifice it in order to stay with her best friend because she's the one person who has always been there. I really enjoyed reading this, and although we didn't get to witness much of the non-sexual side of Lottie and Ash's relationship, what we did get to see was sweet and showed that they were a good match for each other. I could sympathise with Lottie's character and how she had previously acted, but I was glad to see her at least chase some happiness.
To me, this novella felt half done and not really edited. Words were repeated in sentences ("My cock all but sprung out of my pants as I pushed my pants down to the ground and stepped out of them.") and the language was clunky at times.
The book starts with the FMC getting in trouble because she's sleeping with a married man, knowing he's married. This is put down to a sex addiction. The FMCs past is alluded to, but glossed over. She is portrayed as coming from poverty and yet always wears clothes and doesn't worry about where they come from. A former FWB of the MMC comes around and makes disparaging remarks about our FMC and the FMC basically shrugs her shoulders and gets on a private jet with our MMC for a night away. Yet when at a fundraiser, she feels like she doesn't fit in all of a sudden.
There are other inconsistencies- the MMC's name changes from Ashton to Asher in the book and the FMC talks of being excited to interview for a job as a receptionist at an accountancy firm, yet turns up at a hotel to interview for a job in a bar.
Nothing beats an age gap best friends dad romance and this one did not disappoint! I loved Lottie and her carefree do what I want attitude! She’s had a rough upbringing, but thanks to her bestie she had somewhere to escape to. Now she’s back with her bestie who is staying with her estranged dad, and Lottie is very intrigued. Ash was the dad who worked too much, played too much and made some bad priority choices but he’s trying to make it up to his daughter now Except he has hit a bump in the road….Lottie is beautiful and intriguing and now he has a choice to make…will it be the right one
The build up to this fast paced but still has you telling them to hurry up! But once the decision is made - you will wait for nothing! Sometimes the spice outdoes the plot and that’s totally okay with me 😈
Age Gap, best friends dad, forbidden romance!! Need I say more!!
I absolutely loved this! It’s multi POV, super spicy 🥵, fast paced and it’s an easy read! It’s on the shorter side two being only 159 pages!
I loved the chemistry between Lottie and Ash! I’m a sucker for a forbidden romance so I ate this up!
I only wish that we got an epilogue so we could see what the future looked like for Lottie and Ash, like what Lottie did in the future did she follow her artistic dreams etc.
Overall I really enjoyed this book! I definitely recommend it!
I received an ARC of this book, and my review is entirely my own
This is not a trope I usually go for immediately, but let me tell you, I was immediately drawn to Lottie and Ash. I absolutely loved Lottie's back story and found her to be quite relatable.
The forced age-gap, best friends dad had me begging for me from the start. I was so sad when I finished this one. If I had to change one thing, it would be that the story was longer. I needed more!
Also, the spice in this one was on another level! 10/10
Jeeezzz, this book was something else!! Lottie & Ash, well damn😅😍
It was such a quick, easy read, the spice was continuous which I loved, it was just so good🥹
I really enjoyed getting to know Emme as well and her friendship with Lottie🥹🥰
I highly recommend this book, definitely to get out of a slump and just for a great quick read, it was so worth it!😍
I’m so grateful to Ivy for giving me this book as an ARC, it will be released on 13th October! Honestly, if you love a spicy book, best friends dad, age gap kinda vibe then this book is definitely for you!🤭💗
I know that this was a novella and therefore they don’t always have a lot of character building or the capacity to delve into a character's backstory. Usually this doesn’t bother me because when I read a novella, it’s because I want a quick read in between my usual go-to full novels.
This one bothered me, and I think it was more the fact that I felt it needed more editing; repetitive words used throughout paragraphs, main character name changed at one point, discussed being an artist early on and then discussed it again later like they’d never discussed it before, etc. It didn’t always flow, and it felt more clunky than it should. And don’t get me started on how quickly the best friends forgave one another constantly.
If you are wanting to read something that is literally an alluded-to 22-year-old sex addict hooking up with her best friend’s millionaire father, whose internal monologue was more like a teenaged boy, then this is for you. There’s a ton of sex in almost every chapter, and I will admit that after a few chapters, I started to skim read the rest.
This book wasn’t for me, but I know there are others out there that will absolutely love it.
2/5 ⭐
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Not my favourite, could take it or leave this book. Didn’t love how quickly the fmc and mmc got together, there was no tension build up at all. I don’t want slow burn, but a bit more tension whilst in the same household would of helped build to story! Sex scenes were pretty good. Book had lots of spice which I enjoyed. A few grammar, plot and spelling errors.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
3 stars for a well written, easy to read book. While in the end it wasn’t my cup of tea I would certainly recommend to anyone who enjoys:
✨ age gap ✨ best friends dad ✨ daddy k!nk ✨ a s£x and body positive Queen
To be completely honest, I probably would have rated this higher had the FMC’s name been different but that is entirely on me and nothing against the book or the author!
Heated and spicy age gap romance novella. The desire between ash and Lottie is amazing and intense. This quick 1 day read has it all! Best friends dad, forbidden love, boss/employee. Would have loved a full novel of these characters! Giving 4 stars due to a few misspelled words/grammar errors. I received as an arc for an honest review.
I didn’t want this book to end! From the characters, to the plot, to the spicy scenes. Lottie is a rebel, who draws you in. Emme is a ride or die. Ash is a catch. I wish there was more spicy scenes but I really enjoyed this book. Lottie and Ash promise to end their love affairs but they’re addicted. I recommend this book to book lovers who love age gap and daddy kink.
I loved the book. The dynamic was amazing and so was the chemistry between Ash and Lottie. The spicy scenes were off the charts 🥵🥵. There was plot and suspense from keeping things a secret. loved that she called him daddy ( hey everyone has their kinks 🤭) I would definitely reread this book again. I just wish the ending wasn't rushed but i guess HE is a good thing no the less.
I Love forbidden romance books. This book was a great read, Super fast paced, and lots of spice. I was hooked from the start. I really liked Lottie and Ash’s story, there Chemistry was amazing! Lottie had a Rough past but was able to move on from it.
I rounded up my star rating. I give this a 3.5-3.75 While I mostly enjoyed it, it fell flat in parts and left me wanting more in others. Overall I think it’s a good concept and the age gap/daddy thing was great, but the smut could have been a little better for my personal taste.
Who doesn't like a taboo and age cap all mixed into one? I just love when you have two characters who knowing that they are going to hurt someone and then act surprised when it does, but at least there is a happy ending
What a delicious book! It had allllllll the good stuff... age gap, best friend's dad and daddy k!nk. Ivy Lane knows how to bring the steam, and I thoroughly enjoyed this.
