On the Track #3

The Pro vs. The Fan

Maverick
I’m the pro. Always professional, always mindful of the press, and always doing the right thing.
My life is flashy and chaotic. I’ve spent the past few years doing everything I was supposed to, including smiling pretty for the cameras while standing next to the world’s favorite popstar.
But now that’s over. I’m yearning for a simpler life. I love racing, but the fame part I could do without.
I want a life out of the spotlight, and I want something real.

Cooper

I’m a fan—how could I not be?
And not just a fan of racing. I can’t help but be swept up by the lives of celebrities. Wondering if they really have it so much better or if something is missing.
Now that Maverick isn’t just that hot racer I’ve followed for years and is instead my friend, I’m starting to see the answer.
We always want what we don’t have.
Rich and famous or poor and seemingly invisible . . . who actually has it better?

Where does true happiness actually lie?

I’m sad. it’s not bad, but it’s boring and plain and not very original. It’s enjoyable if you want something more sugary sweet and insta lovey but I couldn’t find it in me to love a plot that was as predictable as this one :(

Time of death: 62%. I. Am. SO. Bored. I am so so so so so sososo bored. This book is excruciatingly boring. I didn't enjoy the last one that much, but it did hint that this one was going to be kind of a grumpy/sunshine vibe and I'm down with that. But just for fucking once would I like to see adult men acting like normal people in contemporary MM.

So Maverick (cool name, bro) is this ultra badass, famous motorbike racer who has just gotten out of a LTR with his popstar girlfriend. He randomly starts hanging around the college student/animal shelter volunteer (Cooper) that he met through charity work. They are not really friends, just vague acquaintances, and as far as everyone knows - Maverick is straight. But no one questions why this rich and famous person is practically stalking this kid. Like they all just act like that shit is normal. What? And then even in his own mind Maverick is like "he's just a friend", even when he invites him to sleep in the same bed as him (platonically, of course) (also, there are other beds). It is so bizarre! Cooper is this one-dimensional ray of sunshine, and Maverick is a blank wall personality-wise. When they finally give in, the sex? Boring as hell! Ugh. They are genuinely so uninteresting together. There's also all this unnecessary self-denial that just didn't feel realistic at all. It feels like some MM authors either have to make their characters saints or psychopaths, no room for nuance.

I'm sorry, but this was just such lazy writing. It relied entirely on tropes. Don't get me wrong, I love tropes, but you pepper them in sparingly to indulge us a bit, you don't force-feed them to your audience all at once. Also, I really thought there would be more racing stuff in this series, but actually any of these racer characters in the last 2 books could have had any job and it would have changed nothing. Blegh, I am just having no luck with genre at the moment.

The Pro vs The Fan by Nicole Dykes brings all those good feelings we hope for in books. It also brings some heartache for our sweet Cooper but that doesn’t last long. This little sweetheart gets his well deserved HEA.

Maverick and Cooper are just to die for. I have loved this whole series so far. Nicole wrote it perfectly and she pulls me into the book every time.

Cooper is such a darling little soul, I love his helping heart and the way he cares not only about people but animals. I am a sucker for all the animal love this series brings.

Maverick is kind of a loner but feels a pull towards Cooper. At first these two become friends and then sparks fly.

But because of Maverick’s career, they hide their relationship. At first it’s ok but it starts to weigh heavily on both Mav and Coop. Maverick thinks by staying hidden, he is protecting Cooper from all he had to face with his last relationship.

nicole really shines with the friends to lovers trope and there’s always that little sprinkle of angst that scares me even though i perfectly know this has a hea. it made me hate maverick a little bit but it’s fine i forgave him.
i’m really curious about the next one!!!

i read and arc and this is my honest review

“I don’t want to embarrass you.”
I can feel his entire body stiffen beneath me.
“You could never embarrass me. I can’t wait to proudly show you off.”
“Really?” I ask breathlessly.
“Yeah. Of course. Cooper, I’m the luckiest guy in the world. I know that.”

this was adorable 🥺

It’s like Cooper has embedded himself in my soul, and I don’t want him to leave.

I barely have enough time to catch him. He wraps his arms and legs around me, kissing my face and my neck. A warmth of happiness wraps around my heart like never before.

Boring, not-believable and just a cheesy whatever, that's what this was.

2.5⭐ and I finished it only because there's a hung twink who gets to top for the first time in his life.

🟣 Celebrity motorcycle racer/college student
🟢 Close group of gay celebrity coupled-up friends
🔵 Animals / adoptions, dogs, cats, shelter, blah, it was just too much
🟡 Bisexual/gay
🟠 First time with a man, coming out
🌶️ Smut is relatively good; t/b --> vers

Maverick was a really good character in previous books. When I found out he's put together with Cooper and considering who Cooper was, I honestly expected a much better story.

Cooper and Maverick didn't work for me. Their insta friendship wasn't that good, they fell in love out of freaking nowhere and the chemistry wasn't palpable.

Maverick was bisexual and out only to his group of friends, so when he found out Cooper liked him, they started hooking up and both determined that they have to hide it, because Maverick just wasn't ready to come out.
Well, the whole coming out was kind of forced. The guy was literally pushed to do it and of course it was in front of the camera. 🤦

Their love for one another was something that I'm still trying to wrap my head around because in my mind this was just a good hook-up. It didn't have a quality for anything more.

"I know my face can’t hide the truth. Of course I want Cooper. “Yes.” I don’t bother lying.
He huffs. “Then be with him. You didn’t allow me to be a dumbass when it came to Axel, and I’m not going to let you let the love of your life slip through your fingers.”
“I didn’t say love,” I point out like a child, but I think maybe I could love Cooper. Hell, he’s not hard to love. But I could fall for him, no doubt, and that scares the hell out of me."

This was on page 90 and after a couple of times hooking up, I think. Maverick doesn't want to go public because he doesn't want the spotlight and doesn't want to bring Cooper into that whole mess, so that "love of your life" part was just absurd.

The story was boring and definitely lacked substance. Two characters that could've had a really passionate, interesting story but literally nothing here worked for me, except maybe the sex, a little bit. But the part where they ate a big ass spaghetti dinner and right after had sex for the first time ugh, then another time met up after the workday I think it was, both completely unwashed and again anal and rimming, I mean, I don't know, maybe it's just me, but

I didn't like jumping weeks and months into the future with almost nothing being told in detail about what's going on between them in the meantime. It just felt like Maverick decided to take a shot, because all his friends thought it was really worth it, I didn't feel him as invested, he didn't have a strong presence in the story and his character could've been really drawn out, his career more talked about and besides, Cooper was too bland for my taste.

My least liked installment in this series.

I liked the idea of the racing star and the fan being together but it fell a little flat for me. Cooper felt like he'd been turned into a completely different character. He's young, but here he gets treated like an inexperienced and helpless child who can't stand up for himself or make his own choices, when we get his back story and it's more than clear that this isn't who he is at all. It was weird, because he's so far been portrayed as a confident and capable guy, so it didn't mesh well for me with what we already know about him and the backstory we get from this book.

Maverick was a weird one too. I thought he would be much more grumpy to Cooper's sunshine, but he was actually more cheerful than most of the other MCs in the series! Also for someone who was pretty obsessed with Cooper, he didn't really seem to get who Cooper was as a person and had instead built this image of him in his head as someone easily overwhelmed who couldn't deal with day to day life.... It didn't make a lot of sense when he said he loved Cooper because as far as I could see he didn't truly know Cooper other than what he was like in bed!

I do think the grovelling after the breakup could have been better and it's also not entirely clear what timeline their relationship happened on, or how long they were apart before they got back together - this is my biggest annoyance with Nicole Dykes writing style because she never clearly indicates the timeline and it makes reading some of her books very frustrating!

🎵Narrated by Liam Dicosimo and Tim Paige🎵 This audiobook is short (4.5 hours) and yet I just cannot connect to this book or the narration. When I was new to audiobooks in 2023, I liked both these narrators but now? Not so much. Tim Paige has an annoying lilt at the end of his voice and Liam Dicosimo can voice his one character well but butchers everyone else’s voice.

I’m halfway through the audio and so bored! I remember liking Cooper in the previous two books but I’m just not a fan of him in this one as he’s kind of annoying and reads younger than he’s supposed to be. My biggest pet peeve though is when MCs want to make decisions for the other and it’s something ridiculous. Cooper & Maverick are totally hot for each other but Maverick wants to protect Cooper from the fame Maverick loathes so he keeps saying no they can’t date. Cooper can decide for himself if he wants to deal with the fame but Maverick won’t let him. It just makes me roll my eyes. Except for that stupid conflict, this book has absolutely nothing going on and I’m bored. 🥱 Now I remember why I don’t read this author anymore. No rating because I’m the problem it’s me.

I have been absolutely in love with Cooper since we got to meet him in the first book of this series, he is such an adorable character with so much sunshine around him and a strong heart which makes me want to protect him, I am so glad he got the HEA and the family he deserved.

Maverick is a professional motorcycle racer, with a broody personality who loves racing but he is not a fan of the fame which comes with it. Whereas, Cooper is studying to go to a vet school and works at an animal shelter and also a bar to save up for school and also has a massive crush on our broody racer aka Maverick.

I thoroughly enjoyed Cooper being a babbling mess around Maverick and I freaking adored their friendship. Maverick wanted Cooper just as badly as Cooper wanted him but Maverick was trying to protect Cooper from all the media attention their relationship would get, so he was stopping himself from wanting more with Cooper other than friendship.
But once they got over all the obstacles, their chemistry was mind-blowing and I loved reading how easily they shared their feelings and vulnerabilities. Their HEA was the sweetest thing and all the love and support they received from all the side characters was so beautiful and can't forget all the fur babies, they were the cutest.

This one was by far my favourite book in this series and I highly recommend you start this series.

"....it’s like my brain clicks off when we all shout, “One!” and then, “Happy New Year!” Because I wrap my arm around his trim waist, without even thinking, and pull his tight little body against mine. He gasps just as my mouth lowers to press against his. I mean to keep it a light, happy New-Year’s kiss, but as soon as his soft lips meet mine, I’m a goner."

The Pro vs The Fan is book 3 in Nicole Dykes' On The Track series and this is Cooper and Maverick's story. We met both these boys in earlier books (Cooper is everyone's favourite burst of animal-loving sunshine and Maverick is Sebastian's grumpy bike racing bestie) and this is an as-sweet-as-it-gets, friends-to-lovers, cute-fest!

You'll be all in for The Pro vs The Fan if you love:

❣️friends to lovers
❣️opposites attract
❣️grumpy sunshine
❣️steamy first times
❣️found family
❣️as schmooshy cute as it gets

Tropes: friends to lovers, grumpy/sunshine
Feels: 3.5/5
Steam*: 2.5/5
Kinks: some toys
Angst: low
HEA: yes
Pairing: MM
Triggers/potential icks/content warnings: homophobic parents kicking kid out at 14, third act breakup, unrealistic pet ownership (lol)

3.5 stars. Rounding up because I like this author, but dang my pet peeve of unrealistic pet ownership made me want to round down. This was a mental battle. LOL

Maverick is a bisexual motorcycle racer. He's never been with a guy before but he's accepted his sexual identity for quite a while. Maverick was in a long-term high-profile relationship with a pop star Phoebe, and he hates publicity, he hates the attention that that relationship got him. When they broke up he got death threats and he's hated the coverage of himself and his past relationship in the media. He's really hesitant to expose his next partner to that scrutiny, and he doesn't want the attention for himself either. He's a quiet grumpy guy.

Cooper is a gay animal lover who works at a bar and volunteers at an animal shelter, while studying to become a vet. He shares an apartment with two roommates. He has no family in his life because his parents are homophobic and kicked him out when he was a teen. Cooper has been taken advantage of in numerous relationship attempts that he has had. People always say that he's too much. He has real self-esteem issues. Cooper is a lovable guy. Everyone whose friends with him can't help but recognize that. He's also freaking magic when it comes to getting people to adopt animals. He can convince anyone to adopt. He's a vulnerable guy who feels things deeply and you feel a lot for a character like him.

Maverick and Cooper become friends because they share friends. And Maverick just falls for Cooper and has such a crush on him. He wants to spend time with him and makes excuses to spend time with him. It's pretty cute. And Cooper is an awkward fanboy who likes him back. Eventually they open up to each other and decide to try a relationship together. They have some happiness but then there's a conflict about whether Maverick will come out and Cooper gets his feelings hurt, cue the third act break up.

This was an enjoyable little story. They were sweet together. The way they kept making excuses to hang together and sleep in the same bed just because they wanted to be close even while they were platonic was cute and just made me want to squish their cheeks. See below though for my pet peeve about unrealistic pet ownership. I like the characters that Nicole creates. Her stories are nice and low angst and I love seeing Axel and Sebastian and Jenny etc. again.

A couple things bothered me though. A lot of other people could let this go, but I'm on the autism spectrum and I hyperfixate. This book literally had me searching keywords to double check whether my memory was off or things have been mentioned before. The biggest thing for me was the unrealistic pet ownership in this book. Now I don't personally have any pets, but my siblings have a combined total of six fur babies. I'm very used to being asked to help with the pets, with the pets interfering with them making plans, the way vacations and other things are planned around them. Cooper is a huge animal lover. Very early on it's mentioned that he has at least two dogs and a couple cats. The names of Cooper's pets are never mentioned which is weird for an animal lover. Cooper regularly goes over to Maverick's for on the fly hangouts that turn into extended sleepovers or spur of the moment trips to Maverick's parents, and he doesn't make arrangements to care for his pets. You can't really do that when you have pets! At one point in particular, at Christmas, he says that his roommates are gone and decides to go to Maverick's parents for Christmas, with no reference to kenneling his dogs. I get the cats could be self-sufficient for a short trip. But not dogs. For Nicole to skip over details about responsible pet ownership in a book about an animal lover like Cooper where animals are so central to the plot is just ick for me. Maverick did a better job of making arrangements for his pets when he was traveling. Though, during his first platonic sleepovers at Cooper's, he also wasn't making arrangements for his pets on page.

Another thing that had me searching keywords to see if I'd missed something was when it was mentioned that Cooper is in school on page 82. I know earlier he said he wanted to be a vet, but I didn't see any other mention that he was actually in school before that. And the on air love confession was awkward. They had talked before about how a public decoration was not a good idea. And really it's especially not a good idea when they haven't been together for many weeks. It puts them in an awkward power dynamic, where Cooper has to not turn him down and not embarrass him on television... Not that Cooper wanted to turn him down. But it triggered my sensitivity to imbalances in power dynamics and seemed like a cheesy grand gesture.

On a random personal nostalgic note, the phrase crazy obsessed fans appeared in this book. And that's actually the origin story behind my username. When I was a fan of a TV show as a teen, one of my first online usernames was Crazy Obsessed Fan, which I abbreviated to COF, and then eventually changed to Coughy because that's what it sounds like and it's less creepy. I kept that name on my Goodreads account, because it reflects my inside joke making fun of myself for being a crazy obsessed fan of books! And I feel like I jinxed myself because I happened to scar my lungs sanding something I shouldn't have and now get chest infections that cause me to cough horribly for more than 2 months when I catch a bug, and send me to urgent care and the ER countless times and make me hate life. FML, but a nostalgic lol.

Some notable moments:

Cooper working his magic "“Maverick, this is Rosie.” “Hi, Rosie,” I say as Cooper pets her and gives her all kinds of loving, but I can see the wheels in his mind turning. “No.” “What?” Cooper blinks up at me, all innocent like, but I know better. I’ve been fooled before by this look."

Adorable! "Maverick’s eyes light up with surprise, his brow raising again. “Did your coat just meow?” He looks more amused than annoyed, which bodes well for me. “Okay, so hear me out . . .” I say, unzipping my coat a little bit. The kitten’s head just barely peeks out as he gives the most adorable little meow in Maverick’s direction. “You’re going to be the death of me.” “But just look at his little face.”"

Aw, Cooper's vulnerability "“No. I don’t want pity love. I don’t want you to feel bad about what happened and then do that to make up for it. I want real love, Maverick.” His voice cracks, and he steps back, then takes a deep breath and eyes me wearily. “I want to be loved, loud and proud. I don’t care about the press or about what they’ll say. I wouldn’t want to embarrass you or anything, but at the end of the day, all I can be is just me.”"

*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

(ENG) I’ve grown attached to Cooper in the previous two books so I was really looking forward to reading this story, but I must say that the development of his relationship with Maverick seemed very rushed to me. I felt like I was missing something the whole time.
Still, they are beautiful and I enjoyed reading them. Pets and meddling friends always add to the plot.

Another great addition to Nicole's on the track series! These two had a believable relationship in how it took them tike to see how well they could work together if they gave each other the chance. The elements were believable in the difficulties of coming out while in the public eye, yet feasible when you have the right support system. Both characters are loveable in their own ways. I'm glad to see Nicole has kept up this feeling for this series. Dare I say I like it even more than her Kensley Panthers series! Keep up the good work, cannot wait to see what this author brings us next in this universe.

It was so sweet. I loved Cooper so much!

"When Cooper talks you into a new animal, you’re left feeling nothing but positive feelings."

I expected more drama, but I still cried 😭 Maverick seems so grumpy, but he's a big teddy bear, he hates the flashes on his face and wants to protect Coop from fame.

"They should love you for who you are. And who you are is amazing"

These two are so sweet together, I loved Cooper's friends, they were so much fun!

***ARC Review***

This is my honest and voluntary review for the ARC I received.

This is the third book in Nicole Dykes’ On the Track series. Maverick and Cooper are so gosh darn cute! Cooper works in a bar, is a major animal lover who volunteers at a shelter, is also in school studying to be a veterinary, and is gay. He is both a friend and a fan of the racers in the series. I love how he’s always getting them to adopt pets. I was happy when I learned that he was going to be the other MC in Maverick’s book!

Cooper’s parents aren’t great and the men he usually dates aren’t either. Cooper struggles with feeling good about himself, because of people saying he is “too much.” Cooper deserves someone who will take him as he is and love him for it. Enter, Maverick!

Maverick races motorcycles and used to date a pop star. Maverick does not like fame. He’s quiet, but confident, is absolutely smitten with Cooper, and is bisexual. It’s adorable how adorable he thinks Cooper is. I love how obsessed with each other both men are. I was a fan of all the reasons Maverick came up with for needing to share a bed with Cooper.

Despite all of this, it takes a little bit of time before Maverick and Cooper become more than friends. Once they do, however, things move quickly. Maverick and Cooper really, really like one another and they have great chemistry. They also think the world of one another and have each other’s best interests at heart.

There is a little bit of conflict in the book. I understand why it occurred and it’s sweet how much they wanted to protect one another, but really, all you need is love. *wink* That said, Maverick and Cooper manage to figure things out and grab their HEA with both hands. The epilogue is set years into the future and it’s so heartwarming, I couldn’t stop smiling.

It was really nice seeing Sebastian, Axel, Jenny, and Cash, from the series again in this book. I’m so excited that the fourth book up in the series is going to be an age gap. Woohoo!

“I like that I seem to fluster him, which is kind of messed-up, but I can't seem to help it. There's something about Cooper. I find myself wanting to be closer to him.”

This was the cutest book out of the series. Cooper and his animals alone are enough to make you giddy and happy. Add in Maverick who is completely in love with the animal lover and you get such a fun book!

Maverick is so obvious, showing up everywhere, never wanting to leave Cooper. And Cooper just going with it but not being able to believe this man would want him.

I loved Cooper standing up for himself, not giving into Maverick’s BS. He is soft but he knows his own mind, what he wants and what he will sacrifice for it. They just work together, they are complete together, all their important parts fit perfectly, wanting the same things out of life.

“I want to be loved, loud and proud. I don't care about the press or about what they'll say. I wouldn't want to embarrass you or anything, but at the end of the day, all I can be is just me."

This book, this entire series, is so fun to read. I want more books in this world! Just keep them coming.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was an incredibly sweet, low-angst romance between animal lover Cooper and professional motorcycle racer Maverick. Cooper and Maverick have been key characters throughout the series so it was really sweet to finally see them together in their own book.

Maverick hates the spotlight, and after the traumatic breakdown of his last relationship with a pop superstar due to rabid fans, he is nervous to put sweet Cooper through the same drama, even though he is obsessed with him. The two grow closer whilst dating in secret, but Cooper doesn’t want to be a secret forever and Maverick is afraid to come out and subject Cooper to the fame and the spotlight he is trying to avoid.

I thought the HEA in this book was so perfect; recently it feels like all the books I have been reading (not just this author, loads of them in both MM and MF) have pushed the ‘you have to have kids to be happy’ message, so I really appreciated that Cooper and Maverick ended up with a house full of animals instead 💕

Thanks to Gay Romance Reviews for an ARC of this book - all opinions are my own.

I enjoyed this book so much and it should have been a 4🌟 but I got angry at Cooper, he was the one who wanted to be a secret, Mav wanted them to hold on until he was ready, he didn’t want to hurt Cooper so he didn’t want to enter a relationship despite liking cooper well enough, and when Mav called cooper a friend, he got offended, why? When he was the one who wanted them to be a secret, the way Mav became a Villian when he was the innocent one, Cooper kept saying he was going to find a way for them to be together, he wasn’t, he put pressure on Mav and am glad he kept apologizing for that because even tho Mav said he was fine and there wasn’t any pressure, there was, he was forced to come out.. I’m still wondering how I went from liking cooper to disliking him so bad, Mav doesn’t get to decided what Cooper wants but he wanted to protect himself and Cooper so bad especially after receiving death threats from fans after he broke up with his ex.. I really disliked Cooper because after saying he can’t force someone to come out.. that’s exactly what he did so it’s a 3🌟

Our sweetie pie Cooper Moon finally gets his man!! ❤️❤️❤️ It was impossible not to love Cooper from the moment he was introduced and I'm so happy his story had all the feels.

The Pro vs The Fan is a breezy read about animal loving Coop (the fan) and über-private racer Maverick (the pro). Cooper has been let down before and struggles to trust that Mav is actually into him. Mav is scared to expose Coop to the media attention he's grown accustomed to (but hates) and is reticent to add to the furor by telling the world he's bisexual. The story is very sweet with relatively low angst and loads of adorable animals.

Although The Pro vs The Fan can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the first 2 books in the series so you get to know the other characters and learn more about Coop and Mav before diving into oak #3.

Cooper has a crush. He’s got a crush on the hot (but straight) motorcycle racer, Maverick Adair. Maverick might be straight to world and the press, but not so straight when it comes to Cooper. They both want each other, but both have hang ups that keep them in the friend zone with one another. Maverick breaks my heart, “I’m not sure how I’m going to keep this up without messing up everything. There’s no part of me that believes I’m that strong.” (Page 38).

Maverick has his issues from being famous, while Cooper has issues with past relationships. They need to work on themselves together for their HEA.

This series is cute and I enjoyed it. I usually classify this type of story as an afternoon read. They are shorter and fast fun reads. The plots are simple, the characters are all likable, and easy to finish in a single afternoon.

Cooper and Maverick fall into a relationship so naturally. They both start with a base of friendship that allows them to take the next step in what they want. Cooper is adorable. He rambles, gets nervous, and is obsessed with animals. He feels as if he's too much to handle, but everything he is is why Maverick feels the way he does. Their relationship doesn't come without hurdles, though. Maverick loves racing, but he doesn't like the spotlight that comes with it. His fears of the public get to be too much at times and we see that angst and fear play out.
But these two, love each other so much. You can see it clear as day that these two are it for each other. I loved how sweet their story was and the way everything played out. This series keeps getting better with each story.

Genre: contemporary romance, MM
Main tropes: friends to lovers, grumpy / sunshine, opposites attract

The third book in Nicole Dykes’ On the Track series was a sweet friends to lovers romance with some great grumpy / sunshine vibes!

I adored Cooper, he was such a sunshine, and it was hard not to smile with him around. Maverick was a little more grumpy and stand off-ish, but he definitely had a soft side when it came to Cooper, and he was the kind of character that grew on me.

The friends to lovers trope was cute here - I loved the way Maverick would find excuses to touch and cuddle with Cooper. They were both quite touchy-feely with each other and it was really sweet to read, even if my heart hurt a little for Cooper at first, when he thought he was crushing on his straight friend…

The Pro vs the Fan was overall a sweet and cute read with adorable characters and pets! Cooper and Maverick were great together, and even if they had some ups and downs, the story was still low angst and pretty straightforward. I loved seeing some familiar characters again and being back with this little racing family.

What an amazing heartfelt addition to the On the Track series featuring the most amazing human and the biker who falls in love with him. Their journey through the world of intense emotions, fierce love and explosive first times was so beautifully written! Not to mention the quick cameos of previous characters, but Coop stole the spotlight the entire time!

I loved the turmoil Maverick went through with himself and how strong Cooper held his emotions in tact throughout everything. I’m not even going to pretend to understand the emotional state of coming out entails, but can sympathize with how much of an impact this has on someone. Being in the spotlight could not have been more traumatic for Mav, but knowing Coop was at risk of being picked apart made Mav’s hesitation understandable.

This was such an amazing story and the inclusion of all the precious animals was an added bonus! Cannot wait to find out who’s next on the track!!

Oh sweet lovely, Cooper! I loved every single thing about you and your rambling ways. The inner dialogue he had was hilarious and had me cracking up! I really enjoyed the friendship and chemistry between Maverick and Coop, buuttttt, I wish there would have been a little more detail into why Maverick was so opposed to dating Cooper and being in the spotlight. I feel like the book jumped pretty quickly having Maverick wanting to see Cooper, hang out with Cooper, and then crush on Cooper but then he had these insecurities from his past relationship and being in the spotlight. I wish that part of the story would have shown or explained more about Mave’s relationship with his ex and exactly how he went through certain traumas.. I mean at one point they even described he once got a death threat, but just kinda glossed over it. Besides that, Ive really enjoyed this series and can’t wait for the next one! These two were so adorable and I’m so happy Cooper and Mave both got their perfect HEA!

Cooper was the sweetest man ever and to pair him with Maverick was perfect. Maverick was really sweet in his own way as well, he just wanted to protect Cooper even if it broke his own heart. Definitely my favorite book in this series so far.

I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Maverick and Cooper’s story!

This book is so sweet. Maverick doesn’t know why he is so drawn to Cooper…but we do! Because he’s the most amazing human on the planet! I understood Maverick’s hang-up’s throughout the story, but he really wasn’t giving Cooper enough credit or letting Cooper make his own decision either. And sweet, sunshine Cooper is all in but once you mess with the baby bear you get the mama bear (AKA Sebastian and Axel). I love the found family vibes in this one!

True to Nicole Dyke’s other stories this is low angst with a sweet resolution. I’m excited for the next installment!
