Prep #1

Il segreto tra noi due. Misfit

Rate this book

Hmm tough crowd.

I know how people been saying that this has Gossip Girl vibe (and as much as I don't care), this book is pretty lackluster and I don't think the multiple POVs work for me :')

While at most times I appreciate massive cast, this book suffers from it. I just can't keep my attention span for what is going on. Elle Kennedy peaks with Off-Campus for me and that's about it *crying at the corner because I wanna love this*

Misfit is Elle Kennedy's newest addicting read. This book kept me engaged from start to finish. I listened to the audiobook and never wanted to push pause.

In this story we follow RJ whose mother recently married Fenn's father. RJ has been to his fair share of public schools, but now he's in this new all boys boarding school for, well, misfits. Misfits, delinquents, all of them have one thing in common. They're rich. All but RJ.

RJ meets Sloane and he's enthralled by her. The thing is... she's off limits. She's the headmaster's daughter. This book has a lot of drama, and a lot of POV's/characters to follow. Not only do we get RJ, Sloane, and Fenn's perspective, we get their other two friends- Silas and Lawson.

Although I liked all the characters and didn't find it hard to follow, I still was thrown off by the multiple POV's. You really have to pay attention to see whose part of the story you're on. The ending was a bit jaw dropping and I wouldn't call it a huge cliffhanger, but it leaves you wanting so much more!

For fans of that teenage angst, drama and romance, check this one out!

Misfit by Elle Kennedy is the first book in the new adult Prep series. It is mainly set in New Hampshire at the elite prep school Sandover, and features a group of seniors. Remington John (RJ) Shaw has just found out that his mom is marrying a wealthy man he has never met and RJ is being sent to Sandover Prep, a boarding school for rich male delinquents for his senior year along with his new stepbrother, Fennelly (Fenn) Bishop. RJ is a loner and doesn’t see the point of trying to get along with anyone. That changes when he somehow starts making friends. Then he meets Sloane Trescott, the headmaster’s daughter who is off-limits to the students. However, RJ doesn’t believe in rules and decides to win her. Sloane is determined not to get involved after breaking up with ex-boyfriend.

Told from multiple points of view, I had no trouble transitioning from one to another. The characters were well-developed. Both RJ and Sloane go through dramatic transformations during the storyline.

The author brilliantly portrayed the attitudes and changes that occurred. The story is well-plotted with a few unpredictable moments at the end of the book. There are plenty of secrets, unlawful activities, bullying, and more woven into the story focused around the romance of RJ and Sloane. There is also a mystery concerning Sloane’s sister Casey’s accident that occurred the prior year. Hopefully, book two in the series will fully resolve this mystery.

Overall, this story is enjoyable with plenty of angst and drama. The author delivers a heartfelt romance that tackles some deeper themes if one reads it in its entirety.

What," I say innocently, "you're not confident about your dick game? Pity"
RJ's gaze transforms from hot to molten. "Sweetheart, my dick is always the most confident motherfucker in the room."

Having read and obsessed over Paper Princess, when I tell you I may have peed a little in excitement when Elle Kennedy announced this new series may be an understatement. There's just something about rich kid drama that takes me back to my obsession roots of Cruel Intentions, Gossip Girl, and 90210. This book was like a mashup of all of them and I was HOOKED.

It's been a long time since I read a book that hooked me so thoroughly within the first few pages. But not only did this book hook me, it kept me glued to the pages until the very end.

Now usually I'm not a fan of the multiple POVs in romance books. And most books I've read that had this lost the romance along the way. The multiple character POVs got confusing and watered down the plot. This was definitely not the case here. If anything, the additional character POVs enriched and added to the plot to make it all the more delicious. Particularly the hedonistic Lawson with his evil intentions. God, I can't wait until his book. But I digress.

While it sounds cliche, outcast loner meets the headmaster's daughter, forbidden romance thing. This book was anything but. RJ and Sloane were such charismatic personalities that I couldn't get enough. I love reading about females in NA romance that own who they are and they're also not shy virgins. I seriously loved how confident Sloane is with her sexuality and appeal to men. She knows she's attractive and she makes RJ work for it. And god did I love how he chased her.

RJ's flighty mother marries a rich guy and suddenly he's immersed in an entirely different world of prep school, private schools, and a new step brother. A loner by his own admission, RJ doesn't like to form ties because he knows it won't last. After all, the guy has switched schools 5 times in the last 3 years due to his mother's moving around. He's a rebel without a cause and I fell head over heels for him immediately.

We get introduce to the cast of enigmatic characters like his step brother Fenn, his friends Lawson and Silas. As well as Sloane and her sister Casey. Did I also get intrigued by Sloane's douchey ex, Duke? Yes, yes I did. But that's a discussion for another day.

Misfit was a finger licking mix of drama and romance and man was I here for all of it. If this book is any indication we're in for a heck of a ride with this series, and I can't wait for more. We get Fenn's story next and after the jaw dropper of an ending to hook his book, I'm absolutely dying for it. This is a full standalone romance with what shows to be a continuing story arc that will go into the next book. I'm totally and completely hooked!

this book reeks of 2016. it’s like elle kennedy took the lyrics of skater boi by avril lavigne but made it more 14 year old on tumblr angsty. i have so many issues with this book so i have to go character by character.

OVERALL ISSUES:
- there were too many POVs. this book is about RJ and Sloane. It was nice to see from the other characters povs but they weren’t really adding much to the plot (other than fenn sometimes)
- the ending was incredibly unsatisfying. i don’t mean the cliffhanger-ish part, I mean that RJ and Sloane’s resolution was rushed and uneventful. it was just boring and made me stop caring about their relationship at all.

LAWSON:
i have so many issues with lawson i’m genuinely appalled by how elle kennedy wrote him.
1. he has a raging sex addiction that is never taken seriously by anyone. everyone treats it as a joke, including elle kennedy. he’s also addicted to drugs and has been to rehab multiple times but doesn’t seem to be affected by this addiction?? like he is never impacted by these addictions (other than getting a slap on the wrist from the headmaster). it seems like elle kennedy added these addictions to make him seem more edgy instead of taking such a heavy and incredibly impactful issue seriously.
2. lawson, the character who is extremely flirty, sleeps with anyone and everyone, and his entire personality is sleeping around, is the one that elle kennedy decided to make bisexual. i’m genuinely so confused on how she could’ve possibly thought this was a good idea. like genuinely. one of the biggest stereotypes about bisexuals is that they’re slutty and flirt with everyone. elle kennedy made an active choice to reinforce this stereotype in her book.

3. to make matters worse, lawson frequently defends his sex addiction by saying that since he’s attracted to everyone, he has to sleep around because there’s so many people to choose from. my god. how did this get published.

4. lawson also frequently sexually harasses everyone he meets. the boys he goes to school with, his teachers, every single girl he meets, etc. with no consequences whatsoever.

5. when his sexuality was first confirmed, he talked about how he has a crush on his best friend silas. i was really excited because i thought there would be a cute, angsty, pining, slowburn best friends to lovers storyline. i assumed silas would be his love interest. NO. I WAS WRONG. he goes after his MARRIED ENGLISH TEACHER, a much older married man, reinforcing the harmful stereotype that gay men are predatory/pedophiles. lawson hypothesizes that his teacher is bisexual, also reinforcing the stereotype that bisexuals cheat on their partners. what the fuck. THEN. he goes after this teachers WIFE. WHAT. this genuinely made me sick to my stomach.

6. even if you can excuse the fact that elle kennedy wrote this in the first place, it should never have been published. she is literally rich. she can afford sensitivity readers and desperately needs them.

RJ:
i don’t really have any problems with RJ. i just think he was really annoying. he is a self proclaimed loner and constantly mentions it. i cant tel if his favorite book is catcher in the eye or american psycho. i’m leaning towards catcher in the rye (but not in a golden caulfield is hypocritical and flawed, but in an omg holden caulfield is so real he’s so me way.) it was kind of funny at first but got annoying really quickly.

FENN:
he was my favorite character (along with casey) but my main issue with him is that he is inconsistent. in this book elle kennedy gave a lot of the main characters addictions, but completely failed at giving accurate representation, or even trying to. when he is first introduced, he is downing multiple bottles of champagne and drinking himself senseless. it is implied that he does this very often and is an alcoholic. however, that is the last mention of said alcoholism. he doesn’t even pick up a drink anywhere else in the book (other than maybe a beer once or twice).

SLOANE:
my only real issue with sloane is that she has a “not like other girls” complex. she also has the “i’m only friends with boys because girls are too much drama” while also being the cause of all drama in her friend group.

SILAS:
i have no real qualms with him other than the fact that he has NO PERSONALITY. AT ALL. he’s so bland. like he never has any defining traits. if i were to compare him to anything it would be the individually packaged crackers the school nurse keeps in her office. not salty enough to taste good, like saltines or oyster crackers. just dry and bland and turns into mush in your mouth immediately. he also switches personalities constantly in this book. like at first he’s super supportive and always there to keep his friends out of trouble, but then he’s trying to break up RJ and Sloane?? he’s just inconsistent.

I really enjoyed this book but I'm such a sucker for this type of over-the-top teenage drama 😂

IF YOU ARE NOSTALGIC for shows like Gossip Girl or books like Private and The It Girl then this is definitely for you! It had all of the drama I used to love from these books but was definitely NA with lots of adult content - so right up my alley 😉

I THOUGHT RJ'S character was unique and different from most male MCs in romance books. I would describe him as introverted but not shy or awkward, just prefers the company of computers to people sometimes 😅 Sure, he was a little too edgy and a little too good at everything but I didn't really care. I love the nerdy ones so this hit right for me lol

IT SEEMED LIKE the multiple POVs were either a hit or miss for most people and it was definitely a hit for me, which is rare because I normally don't like multi-POV books as much. I feel super invested in some of the other character's stories already and I can't wait to see them play out in the sequels

🆗 SHOCKINGLY ENOUGH, I actually thought the romance was just okay. It was sexy and the type of tension and steam that Elle Kennedy is known for, but it just didn't give me butterflies or anything like that. I thought RJ and Sloane were a good couple but they were lacking that extra something for me

THE CLIFFHANGER THOUGH! I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that it's not as bad as it looks but can't wait to figure out the next clue in this mystery!

Overall, I think this is a very promising start to a new dramatic romance series. It's definitely over-the-top and unbelievable, but sometimes you just have to go with it and enjoy the ride 😊 I recommend this if you want to read a NA series that takes place in an elite boarding school where the characters are all too naughty for their own good 😈 I can't wait to see what they get up to in the next book!

'🅼🅸🆂🅵🅸🆃' is the first full length book in author Elle Kennedy's 'Prep' series. Spoken in 'multiple Perspectives.'

As soon as this went live, I raced to purchase and started reading it that day, and read and read and read.

This pulled me in straight away and had me engrossed throughout, the only gripe I had was the various pov’s many stories within a story branching off into their own stories. It’s easy enough to keep up its just something I for one am not a huge fan of but needless to say I did enjoy it overall and has me anticipating the next book.

Each boy has been sent here for a reason, a discrepancy which has gotten him expelled from his previous school, what hasn't RJ done but one thing he keeps under wraps is that he is a hacker, no secret is a secret kept, if it's out on the web our loner boy will find it.

RJ's mother has a revolving door of guys who don't stick around and RJ doesn't forge any attachments to anyone or school due to the fact that it's all only temporary, but when his mother marries a rich dude he inherits a step brother who goes to the same school as him also making him his roommate. All the feels with these two who bonded before they realised what they were doing.

Besides Fenn (the step-bro) we're introduced to his tight-knit friends Lawson and Silas, also Sloane who RJ forms an attachment to and we're also introduced to her younger sister Casey.

I also loved this authors sense of humour so she definitely left her own stamp in this book.

Each character does have you begging for more, hanging off their every word, I loved this new world this author created, and typically didn’t want it to end..This ticked so many boxes. If your a fan of this author believe me this one won't disappoint.

HACKER BOYFRIEND? HACKER. BOYFRIEND.
No, seriously. If you love hacker heroes, you need to read this.

I dont read a lot of high school new adult anymore so I’m really happy that i loved this. (I mean, it’s Elle Kennedy so duh)

Also, the humour in this was hilarious. I freaking loved Lawson. That boy. He is messed up but his humour was gold.

I also really liked the mystery subplot to this too. This does give me Gossip Girl meets Magnolia Parks meets Punk 57 vibes.

OMG WTF I NEED THE NEXT ONE LIKE WHAT WAS THAT ENDINGGGG

RJ is not thrilled about seeing his mom making out with her new boyfriend husband in front of him. He is even less thriller about going to a prep school for problematic rich boys. But he doesn’t care too much; he doesn’t plan on staying there long. If only his new stepbrother stopped making him socialize…

Sloane is always the responsible daughter, the strong one in charge of her sister, the role model student. Her ex-boyfriend was a bad idea that led to horrible consequences and she’s determined it won’t happen again. No boys, no sex, she needs to concentrate if she wants to obtain the scholarship she’s been working for. But that new guy with the sassy tongue who keeps trying to take her on a date is not letting her go that easy…

From the first scene, where RJ’s mother is making out with Fenn’s father in front of them in a very rushed wedding neither of them wanted to be part of, I knew I was in for a wild ride. RJ is a hacker obsessed with the most forbidden girl in the region: the headmaster’s daughter and king-of-the-school ex girlfriend. Not that RJ cares: he’s not known for following rules. But soon he’ll understand that some limits cannot be broken and Duke -the king-, is not someone to play tricks with.

The heroine, Sloane, is the typical cold queen who is always better than everyone else, shuts up all the bullies and seems all perfect on the outside. I’m torn between how many times I’ve read about this kind of ‘badass’ female character and how much I love them every single time. Let’s be honest, we know they are not real, but we want them to be real so badly that we don’t care.

She’s one of those people who are hard to get close to. You think you know them, that you’re in there, but then they rearrange the furniture, and you realize you were only ever talking to a reflection of a reflection in a hall of mirrors, still totally out of reach.

You also have The Friends:

🍓Lawson: bad boy by own merits, has only one trait of mind and always gets what he wants.
😇Silas: Lawson’s official babysitter, is supposed to be a good boy but he has some secrets on his own
📚Fenn: former bad boy, work in progress to be good enough for a certain young lady he’s falling for

I imagine you have figured out there is a lot more going on than romance. If Gossip Girl and Off Campus series had a child, Misfit would be the result: teenagers, romance, friendship and loads of drama. For the same price, you have five POVs instead of only two -which also means you’ll have ⅖ of the romance. While I enjoyed RJ-Sloane’s banter, it was far from EK masterpieces. Having so many POVs decreased the amount of development per character and the romance suffered from that-or maybe I’m not that much into the insta-attraction anymore. The friendship between the four boys was my favorite part of the story, especially the dynamics of Silas-Lawson.

Despite never being a Gossip Girl lover and expecting a completely different story, I enjoyed myself reading this book. I laughed a lot at the beginning and was left with too many answers I’m dying to get resolved. EK also managed the very rare thing of making the 5 POVs interesting, although Lawson’s would win any possible competition-I’m very excited to see the party boy reformed, preferible with you-know-who.

I did feel it was a bit too slow in the middle, the characters tend to walk in circles and RJ's unfairness with Sloane frustrated me to no end. But they are teenagers, I guess doing dump things and creating a whole drama out of a non-existing problem is their major. I’m also aware RJ’s being a hacker and being obsessed with Sloane is quite problematic, but I accepted it because:

1) EK needed him for an ongoing investigation
2) I’d never read a romance with a hacker as hero before; RJ’s character in general was very original because he hates talking and spends his days in front of a computer
3) hackers are kind of hot when they are not stalking you

Who else was obsessed with Gossip Girl? I devoured that series back in the day and loved how addictive and scandalous they were. This one gave me those same vibes and I now have a brand new series to obsess over.

There was so much drama with these characters, I was basically hooked after one chapter. Think naughty rich kids who are always trying to stir up trouble, is there anything more entertaining than wealthy people behaving badly? This was equal parts sexy and fun, I loved the witty banter between RJ and Sloane but the relationship between the guys was hilarious, I couldn’t get enough. And while things were resolved with most storylines here there is so much I still need to know so I’ll be desperately waiting for the next book in the series, this one was just so so good!

Someone close Sandover Prep- it’s the worst school in America with less adult supervision of students than Hogwarts.

How did this book disgust me? Let me count the ways.

1. Hello misogyny, I’m tired of you. The whole of this book is asking me to basically shrug and say, “Boys will be boys”, specifically, “Rich Boys will be Rich Pricks”, so whatcha gonna do. Just sit back and be ENTERTAINED by all their sexual and illegal antics. NO, just no more of this BS should ever be written BY WOMEN.

2. Lawson’s entire storyline was disturbing.

A. While 18 and technically a legal adult, he is A CHILD and he for sure emotionally is one. His entire plot of sleeping with not one but 2 teachers (a married couple) should NEVER have been written. This isn’t a plot point, IT IS CRIMINAL ACTIVITY!! Him being too rich to be expelled in no way makes him be the powerful one in that dynamic because HE IS A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT IN THE CARE OF THOSE TEACHERS. WTAF. That is not sexy smut- that is child abuse.

B. He clearly has a drug addiction (and a sex addiction too?) that needed therapy. No way he’s a good swimmer as many substances as that boy put in his body. The fact none of his friends even think that he’s an addict is disturbing.

C. Him ogling his roommate- no. Creepy and gross. Your roommate should be safe in his room. If it had been a girl, would this have been written in his POV? (Well, given the other mess in this book, probably. And it’d have been equally disturbing.)

3. Sloane- child, stop telling me you are a strong woman. You are a wishy-washy girl who was too enamored with Duke giving “good d*ck” to stay broken up with that violent asshat, and were on again/off again for TWO. YEARS! And then you cannot even stay committed enough to your own self worth and goals to not jump RJ because he likes your fave band. You didn’t make him work for your affection at all. As far as I can tell you are not the cliché “not like other girls”, you’re basically treated how they treat “all the other girls”.🤦🏻‍♀️

4. The fight club. That’s what we need -boys fighting to be “King”. Literally perpetuating the patriarchy. Condoning violence. I cannot.

Not disgusting- just more ways this book didn’t work:

5 POVs is too many. At most, I’d have been fine with Fenn, RJ, Sloane. I never need inside Lawson’s head ever again. Silas- there was literally no point to his POV or his character.

I didn’t buy that RJ and Sloane were in love. Lust- sure. Love? Nope.

The only relationship I rooted for was the bromance between RJ and Fenn. I like that those two decided to become brothers even though their parents’ marriage is ridiculous.

If you enjoy shows like Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars then this book (and series) is for you!

Naughty rich kids causing trouble for entertainment - ✅
Delinquent boys prep school setting - ✅
Sex, drugs and tons of misdeeds - ✅

This one starts off deliberately slow, introducing you to the key players and the setting. Then, it takes off and if you’re like me, you won’t be able to put it down. Would I want my girls acting like this? Heck no! But I sure can’t look away from the fictional juicy drama that is going down at Sandover Prep.

These boys are bad news, yet I couldn’t help but like them. Each one is struggling with something and I found myself wanting to give them a hug and a good talking to in equal measure.

Also, that ending left me shook. I need to know what happens next, ASAP!

As much as I love Elle’s books, this was a miss.

It just fell FLAT.

It really did have potential. I was hooked at the start. It had the exclusivity gossip girl fans rave about, the boarding school scene, red hot attraction..

But

Because it was multiple pov.. i think that’s why this one struggled to keep afloat. Everyone just HAD to have their 5 minute monologue and side story so it veered off the main plot and the mmc and fmc. I kept forgetting about RJ and Sloane because Lawson kept inserting his forbidden affairs in, Silas kept moaning about his sinking relationship with Amy, then there was Fenn with Casey 🙄

It was all over the place. I’m even disappointed how lazy the Duke x RJ dispute went. They’re neck and neck tryna kill each other and then just a page of the fight, bully loses and they’re best buds now?? And bully totally backs off as if he wasn’t harassing the mmc the whole majority of the book?

Kennedy wanted a spectrum of stories that happened all over this prep school universe? Well, she could’ve just focused on the mmc and fmc and THEN wrote the next mmc and fmc ON THE NEXT BOOK. Small introductions about everyone would’ve sufficed.

I love me my boarding school tropes with the ice princess and the wholesome but also sexy-brooding badboy so I’m disappointed this flopped. I didn’t think you could go wrong with said tropes if you tried. Guess this is a first for her 🤦🏻‍♀️

↬ Even though it almost took me a month to finish I did really enjoy this book. HOWEVER THE ENDING. Don't leave me hanging like that. Also it was pretty predictable for me that was the case after Fenn reject her.

↬ Also the fact that there were chapters about so many different people in the book. JUST FOCUS ON THE COUPLE I DON'T WANT ANYBODY ELSE.

↬ I do love RJ & Sloane and I really think that I would've rated this book higher if the plot was better and more focused on them. BECAUSE I REALLY DID LOVE THEM. They were such a good couple and Sloane was a baddie and RJ MATCHED HER ENERGY SO WELL. I'm honestly so disappointed😔😔. And this review is only making me more sad because THIS BOOK COULD'VE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER

this book was so-so for me for the majority of it, it has way too many POV’s than necessary, i guess it’s to show the different characters feelings, but for me it was a bit much.

i really did enjoy the plot tho, there was a lot of laughter from me at certain parts of the book where it was just crazy. the book definitely gives off Gossip Girl vibes (one of my fav shows). and the ending was so crazy, i can’t wait to read the next book in the series when i get it!!

DNF at 50% because of boredom.
I’m usually a huge Elle Kennedy fan 😭

WAY TOO MANY POVS
Seriously who has like 5 povs in the first installment of a series? It was so repetitive and annoying…
POV 1: I like POV2.
POV 2: Wow POV1 likes me. POV1 shouldn’t do that.
POV 3: POV1 shouldn’t like POV2.
POV 4: What POV3 said.

ANYWAY why are online friends not considered friends @RJs mom?
Random cringe quote: „Don’t tell me you’re one of these twitch bros?“🙃

Çocuklarımız liseli ve yeni on sekiz yaşlarına girmişler.

Bizar, haha.

Manmanman.

RJ: Hij is f*cked up eng. Psychopaat-levels disturbed. De dingen die dit joch doet??? Zonder enige berouw?????? Mijn hemel.

Fennely: Zijn naam is venkel.

Of over RJs moeder.

HALLO?!?!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
🌶🌶/5

About the book:
‪After RJ’s mom marries a rich man seemingly out of nowhere, he is forced to attend Sandover Prep School for his senior year. His plan is to keep his head down and not form any attachments. But all of that changes when he meets Sloane. She’s the headmaster’s daughter and also forbidden. Though, RJ is never one to follow the rules…‬

Review:
‪- There was so much drama, and I was HOOKED from the beginning till the end.‬
- I loved the back and forth between RJ and Sloane. The forbidden aspect of their romance worked so well and the pay-off was so worth it.
- There are a few subplots happening in this story and I’m so excited to see how everything is going to play out.
- The multiple POVs gave us a great introduction to each of the characters!
- The ending left me SHOOK. There is so much I still need to know, so I’ll be *desperately* waiting for the next book!

Read if you like:
- New adult romance
- Prep school setting
- Forbidden romance
‪- Lots of drama ‬
- Mystery
- Multiple POVs

*thank you to @getredprbooks for sending me a copy of this book!

I do not like Misfit. Too many characters. Too many POV and the plot is confusing for me.

I do not like the main characters either. Too many entanglement in a lot of POV.

Wow!!!!!

* capitole din perspectiva a 5 personaje

I am such a HUGE Elle Kennedy fan so when I caught wind of this one I knew I had to read it immediately. I am so glad I did. I really loved the setting, I haven’t read a prep school setting in quite awhile. Kennedy did a great job with her descriptions and making the reader feel as though they were right beside the characters. There were a lot of characters but I never felt lost or confused. They all added to the story in their own way. Of course, there are characters I liked more than others but luckily none really annoyed me. Overall, I really enjoyed this one and would definitely recommend it!

Thank you so much for the gifted copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

AHHHH! Misfit was absolutely fantastic and so addicting! This story is once again Elle Kennedy delivering an amazing story with sexy characters, fantastic banter and an engaging cast of characters that had me hooked from the very first page!

I loved Sloane and RJ. Their banter was fiery. This story was also filled to the brim with drama and everything we love in a story by this author. I was on the edge of my seat from the very first page. I loved the forbidden aspect of the story and how compelling every scene was!

Overall, Misfit was an exciting and an amazing introduction to this new world Kennedy created. I am OBSESSED and can't wait for more! 5 stars! ~Ratula ❤️

After absolutely loving the Off-Campus series, I was super excited when we were told we were getting a new adult Gossip Girl-esque series (was anyone else obsessed with the Gossip Girl books back in high school??)

anyways this was not it.

I knew going into this there would be multiple POVs, multiple POVs really don't bother me, but Misfit really struggled to hold my attention.

I did not like any of the characters. Not a single one resonated with me.

Sloane is such a "pick-me/I'm-not-like-other-girls" kind of girl and I could not vibe with her. RJ is a total edgelord that reminds us every other page how much of a loner he is 🙄 Fenn and Silas honestly didn't make enough of a memorable impression on me, and Lawson is the most disgusting representation of a bisexual character I was ready to throw this book across the room.

Seriously why is the main bisexual character a sex addict and predatory? Lawson should have been deleted from the story entirely. Not only does he sexually harass everyone he comes into contact with, but his starting goal is to seduce: first his male teacher... & then his wife. friendly reminder this book is set in high school

When your partner pool is twice the size of most people's--and with my hedonistic tendencies--sex becomes an endless playground. Male, female, threesomes, orgies, indoors, outdoors... I'm always game.

This characterization is just so offensive I- 🙃 Just because you're bi it doesn't mean you wanna f*ck everything that walks by! Doesn't mean you're a cheater either! 🤬 Way to enforce disgusting stereotypes all the way in 2022

& why are we lightly brushing over these characters having drug and alcohol addictions? its like *oh yeah he's been to rehab multiple times... but we're never gonna bring it up again* huh? so are they still struggling? does this affect their daily lives? apparently not 🤷🏼‍♀️

this is literally Duke you cant tell me otherwise

I wasn’t a huge fan of this book. The multiple POV’s didn’t really help either. I wish it would have been written in dual POV. I felt like it pulled too much away from the two main characters. I wasn’t a huge fan of Sloane either. I also thought some things would be resolved by the end of this book, but they weren’t. Which I dislike. Fenn is the only additional POV I actually liked.

This is in written from 5 POVs.

-RJ
-Sloane
-Fenn
-Silas
-Lawson
