I absolutely loved Leaves of Gold from CJ Primer. It is vastly different from her contemporary Six Pack series, but hits all the marks for a really good traditional romance novel. Please note this book is not, as spicy, as the Six Pack series, but the writing and story is so good you don’t miss it. This book reminds a lot of Tate James’s Royal Trials (which is one of my favorites), so if you’re a huge fan I highly recommend.
CJ’s writing is masterful, as always. From Chapter 1 to the end you are immersed into the world of royal courts, murder, war and love. The only complaint I have about this book is that it was not long enough for me. I want more of Fairen and Evander and I’m begging the author to write Corian’s story (I NEED TO KNOW where her story goes).
All in all an excellent read, you will not be disappointed!

CJ Primer is magical. I’ve loved every single one of her books! Leaves of Gold is much different than her Six-Pack series, so if you started there, you might be surprised at this one. Where the Six are high angst and super spicy, Leaves of Gold is romantic with less spice and rich with court politics and sweaty, bloody Evander decimating his enemies in battle. If you’re new to CJ’s works, don’t stop with this one!
I hope that this is the beginning of a series, as I have a handful of questions that need some answers!

I’ve been on a reading slump but when I received this ARC this was exactly what I needed. It’s definitely very different from the 6-Pack series and I had high expectations and it delivered. I know a book is good if I have to read it in either one or two sittings.
It has a great storyline that isn’t confusing and trying too hard, the romance was believable and side characters were interesting. One good thing about CJ’a writing is there are very few spelling or editing mistakes (if any). I haven’t picked up any when I’ve read her books.

First let me say I’ve been reading CJ’s books since her 6 pack series which are absolutely incredible PNR with great🥵🔥characters and plot! This book is completely different and is tame compared to those, a slow burn, yet I still enjoyed her book.
It’s a medieval fantasy tale romance, an infamous Brooding grumpy Knight & King’s general known for being a skilled warrior has his eyes set an Lady Fairen the second they meet, Lady Fairen betrothed to a Prince, a Prince with hands he can never keep to himself, a wandering eye, an insatiable appetite for S3x, who isn’t anything Lady Fairen expected to be and not ready to lead and govern his people.
What happens when Lady Fairen discovers she’s nothing more than a mere chess piece in a high stakes game of land, power and hungry devious nobles looking to make a name for themselves.

CJ Primer has truly outdone herself with 'Leaves of Gold.' Set in medieval times with captivating fantasy elements, this tale follows Fairen who has been thrust into an arranged marriage with the prince of Cadenia for political gain. As the story unfolds, Fairen's path takes unexpected turns, leaving readers on the edge of their seats. The suspense, heartfelt romance, and perfectly balanced intrigue had me engrossed from start to finish. Primer's skillful pacing and well-crafted plot showcase a departure from their Six Pack Series, demonstrating their versatility as an author. With no cliffhangers, the reading experience becomes even more gratifying. 'Leaves of Gold' presents an entirely different genre than CJ’s previous works, yet it drew me in with its thrilling adventure, unforeseen twists, and captivating romance. Undoubtedly, this is a must-read that showcases C.J’s exceptional storytelling abilities.

I have been a big fan of CJ Primer's books for a while - her six-pack series is excellent. This book is a bit of a departure, as it doesn't have a contemporary setting. I really enjoyed it. Both main characters, Fairen and Evander, are ones that you want to get behind, you really want them to have their HEA. And, like the rest of her male characters, Evander is as sexy af. I would say that it's a lot less smutty than her six-pack series, but that didn't bother me, I really enjoyed the story and the smut does pick up as the book goes along. Plenty of twists and turns, the story is fast-paced and doesn't flag at all. I'm not sure if this is going to develop into a series but I would love to see Corian and Tadeas get their own book, I loved their characters.

This book is well written with great character development, and a plot that continues to thicken from beginning to end, keeping you enthralled for what comes next. As a note of advice for someone questioning if they should read this book DONT HESITATE I did and I wish I hadn't. Even if stories set in medieval times with political arranged marriages between lands are not your typical thing, you won't be disappointed one bit and may find yourself as a new lover of the genre. Leaves of Gold is a spicy, slow burn, fantasy romance with a lot of drama, magic, and action mixed in. I'm a huge fan of CJ's Six Pack series and was excited to read this. It is VERY different but still great. The story focuses on Lady Fairen, who is supposed to marry a prince. However, through a series of twists and turns, she ends up marrying the the hunky and mysterious warrior Evander. Overall, this type of fantasy is not my cup of tea, but I did really love it. It was so romantic and loved seeing the growth of Lady Fairen. Would love to see this turn into a series! And it has a great HEA as a bonus. Loved it!

It was so well written, it took me to another place and time. This book was so hard to put down, I kept wanting to read one more charter as I needed to know what was going to happen next.
She made me fall in love with the characters and wish that I was part of the store.
As will all her books there are some twist and turns along the way, but I would 100% recommend this book to anyone looking for a little romance/adventure/fantasy who needs/wants transportation to another place and time as you own mini getaway.
I am so looking forward to her next book!

Wow what can I say, yes it is cheesy and repetitive but CJ Primer manage to do it again.
Brilliant, Comforting, I loved everything about this book I could not finish quick enough and I am already missing the lovely characters she created this time. The details on traditions and customs, the development of the main characters relationship and level of fantasy just made me crave for more.
If you like fantasy and romance you will not be disappointed. Yes it is different from her other books but I enjoyed just as much. I will be praying for a sequel.

As a fan of CJ's 6 pack series, I jumped at the chance to be an arc reader for leaves of gold. Definately a step away from the fast paced action packed warewolves, but leaves of gold has a charm all of its own.
Definately slow burn period romance that can make you frustrated at the leads but in an almost Jane Austin pride and prejudice way and totally appropriate to it's high class medieval world. All the feels of angst, frustration and warm fuzzies and heat that cj is so good at are all present and Fairen's development/journey was a delight!

CJ has done it again!! This tale is set in medieval times and has some fantasy elements woven in. Fairen is a demure young lady who is selected to marry the prince of the ruling kingdom in Cadenia in an arranged marriage largely for political gains and stability. Evander is a mysterious and reserved general for the kings army. Lady Farien arrives at Kings Court to begin her new life and enter into her arranged marriage and finds things are not quite as they seem. Following the unexpected death of the King, Fairens path becomes uncertain, and the fates lead her in another direction.
This story had me biting my nails in suspense, cheering for love, and just the right amount of spice. I tore through this novel in one setting and cross my fingers that CJ brings us back to Cadenia in the future.

I haven't read a fantasy book in a minute and Leaves of Gold did not disappoint!
We follow the journey of a young girl, Fairen, promised to a prince yet finding herself drawn to the mysterious warrior.
Leaving her home behind for the castle and finding herself surrounded by new people kept me guessing who was her friend, who was her enemy, and what would happen next.
The storyline was unbelievably written and so addicting, making it easy for you to get swept up and lost in Cadenia.
This steamy, fantasy and adventure romance with a sprinkle of magic added is a MUST READ!

I might be biased because I am a fan of C.J. stories, but to tell you the truth I had a bit of difficulty to start this story. I am pretty sure it's because it's very different of what we're used from her, but I kept an open mind and gave it a chance.
And ohh boyyy how glad I am that I kept going till the end! Very well written and it's astonishing how easily C.J. can transport us in a new universe.
You won't regret giving it a try!

This book was a sweet refreshing book to read. I have been reading some dark stories as of late, so it was refreshing to read this mild, yet intriguing book. This is differ t from CJ ‘s other works, yet it still had the high quality that I have come to know from her.
I most liked how the FMC seems all dainty in the beginning, and then we see her rise up and become a strong FMC. I look forward to seeing more of this storyline from CJ. Great read.

Love the world building it was beautifully immersible. I got lost in this book for days! It’s a slow burn romance with a tingle of magical fantasy. It is set in what I would call a historical period, but not sure if I’d call it a historical romance. It’s was so fun to read and I loved Fairen and Corian’s easy friendship. Evander is definitely yummy and mysterious! Plot was 5/5 spice was 2/5. This was an arc and I’m leaving a review voluntarily.

This was a wonderful adventure with ladies in beautiful dresses, men in armor, a Prince on a power trip, battles, scandals and magic. A steamy slowburn with so much built up tension... now, I'm more of an instant gratification kinda reader but the build up was perfection. A beautifully written world adventure to go get lost in and fall in love.

I have loved all of CJ's previous books, so I jumped to continue supporting her. This DID NOT disappoint! Fairen is definitely a typical medieval daughter to a Lord. She is prim and proper and the perfect beautiful wife for the kings only son. Living in a region 10 plus days of travel from the palace, she is brought to a completely different environment from her home. From the dress, style to even behaviors, it is nothing like she has ever seen. The palace is also where she meets the Kings General Evander.
Through a wild twist of events, Fairen now finds herself married to the broody general. Their road to their HEA is definitely full of twists, turns, and deceptions, but itso worth it.
I am in love with this world CJ created, and I am hoping this isn't the last time we are with Evander and Fairen.

Truly incredible! I have yet to read a book from C.J Primer that I haven't loved. I reread all her books countless times and this book will be no exception.
If you want a real page turner that you simply can not put down and one you will want to re read again and again this book is for you.

I absolutely love all of CJ’s work she is simply amazing. The book started out slow but is a slow burn. It hooked me though I love the Wolves and how medieval it is. You get frustrated but you fall in love with the characters, great book a must-read for sure.

It was okay. I guess it is a start of a series. I love CJ’s work, but this book was just ok. Wouldn’t read again.
Her other books are phenomenal.
