To the public, Harper Miller is nothing more than a mild mannered, socially awkward English professor with a slight stutter and some control issues. She knows her public persona isn’t glamorous, but she doesn’t care if people see her as milquetoast. She prefers it that way because it means no one would ever suspect her secret.

Harper never intended to run a phone sex line long term. It was meant to help her pay off her student loans before landing a job with a decent paycheck. Of course, Harper never intended to fall for a client either. After talking to a caller that goes by Em for six months, Harper can admit she’s thoroughly smitten, even though her mystery woman may not be who she seems.

What happens when Em’s true identity is discovered? Will Harper be able to look past old grievances for a shot at true love?

5 ★ | Put down whatever nonsense you’re reading this instant. READ THIS. Don’t ask me why. Just do it. No if buts and or maybes. This book means EVERYTHING to me. It’s not often I’m lost for words, but here I am. Truly I am speechless. And that never happens. (Ask Tilly)🤭

I really NEED my connections on here to see this review and pick it up or add it to your tbr at the very least…because it’s EXTREMELY UNDERRATED and it’s deserves so much more attention! It infuriates me to see authors like this write such captivating stories that don’t reach the people it’s suppose to. I’m hoping now it will, even just to boost a little.

I haven’t even FINISHED the book yet and I’m already giving it 5 stars. Am I being too hasty? No. I know a bloody brilliant book when I see it. I’ve read enough crap to know what’s good and what’s not. Trust me 🥴

I’m truly in awe of Shay. 5 Stars undoubtedly, congratulations!

Great premise (the leads are rival professors at a university but Harper also has a side gig doing phone sex, Macy is her most devoted caller, and neither of them has ever recognised the other's voice because romance shut up).

Took the bold decision to make one of the leads an absolute tool. Macy is a trust fund baby, a vicious undermining jerk who repeatedly attacks the only other female at her level and at one point publicly mocks Harper for her stutter. I wasn't clear if she was also meant to be an alcoholic (the drinking in this book is wild, in a way that rather suggests the author doesn't drink). Not a great start for Macy, then. The story does a good job of showing her remorse and a convincing self improvement arc, so if you can get over the bad impression, it works out well. Disappointing editing from a press, though.

It’s kinda crazy how the erotic dialogue is better than the non- erotica one.

That’s my only problem, dialogue felt very stiff when they were out of the sexual roles.

Really hot tho

How can 178 pages be so complete and satiating?
178 pages of enemies to lovers that felt so satisfying?
It was entertaining, funny, perfectly executed angst. I really enjoyed this book! I need more of this from the author!

A really delightful, spicy sapphic novella. Short and sweet, well written, full of lust, longing, romance, missed opportunities, crossed wires, mixed signals, hopes, fears, angst, and cheers. The two MCs do enemies to lovers perfectly combining that with hidden identities, sex toys, phone sex, and lots of treats. They are lusty, smart, determined, and incredibly sexy together. You will root for them and love their HEA.

This was delightful! It's hard to believe it was so short (172 pages) because I went through the whole spectrum of human emotions and experienced a fully fleshed-out story and characters. Would recommend to everyone!

I really enjoyed the story, thought the characters were interesting and well written but I had one issue with the book. How the hell doesn't Harper have even a minute where she wonders why Em and Macy have similar voices?? That's if Macy even sounds different on the phone if not then same voices. Same goes for Macy.

I mean I suppose it's plausible but considering they'd been talking for 8 months on the phone and Macy was spending more time with Harper in person...

Anyway, overall it's a good book!

Enemies to Lovers, yes please!

Short and sweet, well written and engaging. Kind of slow burn but with some well placed steam sparking the fire. The MCs are very relatable and poor Harper kind of needs to work on her self preservation skills. I loved their easy connection (well mostly easy lol).

This skyrocketed to being the best book I’ve read so far this year!!!!! This is how you write sapphic, there was no excessive dwelling on the homophobic family or anything that didn’t push the story further. I enjoyed this, I really could’ve finished it in day one but refused to end it that quickly.

it can be really hard to find f/f romance, so this was an awesome find!

Sweet kinda short

I really liked the premise. It's short and sweet. I did feel like it was a bit rushed though. I would have liked for Harper to have more growth. Macy grew on me after a bit. I just wished they had more time as a couple.

Loved the way the story went. Both characters had things to work on. Some parts I expected to turn out differently, enjoyed the path that was taken.

Harper's lack of confidence permeated her everyday life, despite her esteemed position as a teacher leading the English department at a prestigious college. Although she excelled in the classroom, she constantly stumbled in faculty meetings and battled with a persistent stutter that had plagued her since childhood.

Within the pages of this concise yet profound book, the intricate complexities of two individuals unfold. Both yearning for love, they navigate their own unique struggles along the way.

Macy, at her core, possessed a kind and gentle soul, driven by an unwavering desire to shield Harper from the harshness inflicted upon her by her mother and unkind brother.

Finally, when the truth of their feelings for each other was laid bare, a tender tale with a joyous conclusion unraveled. Two women, united by love, found solace and happiness in each other's embrace. This is a new release now available on Amazon! Definitely check it out!

3 stars. Was I supposed to like Macy? Because after she mocked Harper’s stutter and embarrassed her in front of Harper’s students that bitch could go kick rocks with open toed shoes on. I hated her. She was vile for no reason and just awful. I felt her change of heart was forced and there for the romance completely bombed for me. Harper deserved so much better. She was lovely and sweet and way too forgiving. She’s the reason this is getting three stars instead of two. Overall, this did not work for me as I’m someone who needs to connect with the characters to feel the romance between them. I kept hoping some new woman would come in and sweep Harper off of her feet instead so obviously this was a dud for me.

Barely ok. The suspension of disbelief required to buy into the “wacky shenanigans” was greater than my patience. My feelings can be summed up with the title.
