For years, I kept my emotions in check and my magic a secret from almost everyone, but one look into Nash's gray eyes, and everything changed.
I learned at an early age my powers were dangerous. Thankfully, working as a barista, I never used my magic for more than locking doors and lighting candles.
Then one day, Detective Nash Yun walked into my life.
The instant attraction I felt towards him blended with the power within, and though he's an arrogant jerk with no regard for other people's feelings, I want him. Bad.
But he's not here on vacation, he's here to solve a missing persons case and time is running out. For the first time in my life, I have the opportunity to use my powers for something good. No, something great.
The only question is can I control them this time?
A broken heart hurts, but I know from experience that I'm capable of things far more destructive.
FORBIDDEN MAGIC was a quick read with romance, magic, and a touch of mystery. I liked both Trinity and Nash, though their "enemies" dynamic felt a bit contrived in how it was set up. That being said, they have good chemistry though this first book ends on a very soft HFN since they're not really sure when they'll see each other again.
This was a fun little murder mystery esc fantasy romance read. I am a sucker for a good murder mystery, this one isn’t one it’s more a kidnapping mystery but the mystery aspect is so fun. I love watching the unravelling of everything. Add in the magical qualities that the book entails being that the fmc is a witch makes it really really fun. I liked the characters I thought the fmc was spunky and stuck to her convictions. The mmc was I suppose a bit of an ass but overall he was what you’d expect from a PI/Cop. This couple also had that boiling underlying chemistry about them and I love when that chemistry explodes even briefly. I also did not expect the mystery to end the way it did well I mean I did in the sense that I knew the overall outcome but not how they got there and why it happened and all that so that was interesting. I’d love to see more of this couple and their adventures cause I think that’d be really fun to see how their relationship sort of grows and watching them solve more crimes would be fun. In terms of spice there was only one scene which was fine it wasn’t the focus of the story still it was descriptive so I have to put it as about a 1/5 for spice. Overall thou I did really enjoy reading this one. It was fun and interesting and I’d love to see more of it. I’d recommend it to anyone searching for a fantasy mystery type read.
Louise, Trinity's best friend, is the only one who knows that Trinity has powers. Her powers are not as advanced as they could be since she doesn't know any other witches. Or so she thinks. When a little girl goes missing, she finds out that her boss is also a witch. Together, with a hot P I, they attempt to find the missing child.
It's ok. The characters are likeable, the mystery...was slow in my opinion with a meh ending. The one or two spicy scenes were ok and not unpleasant just a bit idk normal? Maybe that's just a me problem. I found myself skipping ahead a few pages at a time to try and move the plot along. I don't regret reading it but I'm not gonna bother with the rest of the series.
This book was an amazing way to start off my October season! Usually I'm not one for novella's but this was so good that I forgot it was a novella. It was written spectacularlly. And the witchy vibes? Completely on point.
