“Sinkhole, take me now.”

Olena MacMillan is a hot mess. Feeling like she has a permanent seat on the struggle bus, she can’t seem to get her act together—or stop embarrassing herself.

Desperate for a fresh start in her hometown, Olena needs to focus. On getting her life on track. On resuscitating her landscape design business. Definitely not on the gorgeous landscaper she’s stuck working with. But something about his intense green eyes and hunky lumberjack vibe has her babbling non-stop.

Jude Sharpe is a man of routine. He likes his life just the way it is: familiar, predictable, and safe. And he’s determined to keep things professional, ignoring Olena’s magnetic pull. But who is he kidding? Even his dog is smitten.

But when Olena’s ex won’t stop harassing her, escalating his unhinged behavior, she has to dig deep for the courage to let Jude in or risk losing everything.

Hey Jude is the first book in the Lennox Valley Chronicles series. It features mature content intended for readers aged 18 and up.

Hey Jude by Hannah Brixton gets a solid 3 stars from me, and honestly, it's a good book! I can totally see myself enjoying it more at a different time, though I probably won't be rereading it. This time around, I found myself feeling a bit bored. It’s pretty straightforward, you know? The ending is predictable with no real high stakes, which usually takes some of the excitement away for me. I’m all about that banter life when it comes to romance, but this book didn’t quite have that spark in the dialogue. 💬

✧ Workplace romance 💗
✧ Insta-love ✨
✧ Protective love interest 🛡️
✧ Friends-to-lovers vibes 💕
✧ Small town 🏘️
✧ Emotional baggage 🎒
✧ Meet disaster 🙃
✧ Healing together 🩹
✧ Dog lover 🐕

However, I’ve gotta say, for a debut, the writing style was really solid! Hannah definitely knows how to structure a story, and her characters had so much heart. 💖

Olena, the heroine, was super relatable—especially for someone like me who tends to feel awkward 24/7. 😅 I loved how the author portrayed her struggles and self-doubt without slapping a big label on her. You can feel her vulnerability, and I definitely saw parts of myself in her. Jude? Ugh, total cinnamon roll with a protective streak! 😍 Together, they both had their baggage, but they balanced each other out in such a sweet way. Their relationship had a bit of an insta-love vibe, which isn’t usually my thing, but I can see why people would enjoy it. 🌟

As for the rest of the characters, Nat and Wyatt were the ultimate friend squad! Wyatt's meddling was just the cherry on top. The only character I absolutely despised? Olena's ex. Ugh, he was the worst, but that just made the sweet moments between Olena and Jude even better. 💞

Content Warnings (CW):
The book covers topics like drug and alcohol use, stalking, and PTSD-like flashbacks. For a full list of CWs, visit the author's website here.

In the end, Hey Jude is a great debut. Though I had a few issues with it, Hannah's writing really stood out! She’s got potential, and I’m curious to see where she goes from here. 🌟

ARC Review

*Very minor spoilers, you can still read the review without ruining the book as the spoiler I reference is part of the book blurb*

One problem I ran into was that this is a very slow buildup, and for the first 100 pages (mobile read,) there wasn't anything to really keep my interest. We have a problematic ex that keeps texting the FMC, but that's all. I think it would have been more beneficial for the author to raise the stakes and have the exes' behavior escalate faster so it keeps the reader engaged for the slower part of the book. The rest of the book was great! I will read more of this author should she decide to publish more, and for a debut, this book was good!

Something I want to stress is how well written the MC, Olena is. I liked her immediately and found her so relatable and her inner monolog hilarious. Hannah knows how to write a MC!

4 stars because while this book didn’t tickle me, it wasn't bad by any stretch, and I can see the author put a lot of work into the setting, plot, and characters. For being a first novel, she did a great job. Fans of Colleen Hoover, Tessa Bailey, or Emily Henry would enjoy this.

*Hannah, thank you so much for the ARC! I look forward to reading your future projects. 🤍

ARC REVIEW

Hey Jude by Hannah Brixton
Release Date: September 26th, 2023

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5
🌶️🌶️🌶️ / 5

Okay. I absolutely loved this one. This novel follows Olena and Jude, both in the landscaping industry. They wind up on a big job together after a hostile initial introduction, giving new life to a rundown Tudor-style, future bed and breakfast. The setting is dreamy. We get to watch their relationship grow, both of them dealing and working though the traumas of their pasts.

Olena and Jude have AMAZING chemistry, which is obviously a necessity 🤌🏻 I loved seeing them go from tense, to teasing, to drooling over each other; all while trying to stay professional on the job site. The ~spice~ is everything I could’ve wanted.

Something else I really loved was that any arguments/miscommunications between the two were solved quickly yet realistically. I have a love hate relationship with the miscommunication trope, so it was refreshing to see them talk through things and face these issues head-on like ADULTS. THANK GOD.

The author plants bits of information throughout that you think may be unnecessary at first, but everything comes full circle and tied together beautifully. The conclusion was satisfying, and this has definitely jumped to the top of my list when it comes to contemporary romance recommendations ✨ Definitely keeping an eye on author Hannah Brixton and future releases! Thank you so much for the ARC opportunity.

As always, this review is 100% honest.

As a former botany girl, my heart was clapping at a landscaper and a landscape designer coming together e Olena is a mess. But the type of mess that you want to help clean up and take care of. Olena would be the friend that I guard with my entire soul. With such a rough past relationship I kept begging for some one to
'please hug this girl. And there Jude was. Jude is careful, caring, and so so down for Olena. I was swooning. The work friendship they built definitely had was so nice. I loved that their chemistry and banter just flowed so easily. I do wish that their work time frame spanned just a litttttle longer so we could see a little more push and pull but that just me being picky.

4.5 rounded to 5

Olena is a hot mess. She's recently moved back home in a rush to escape an ex, and left her business, connections, and financial stability behind. Sharing an apartment with her friend Wyatt, he takes it upon himself to set her up with his a massive property his Aunt and Uncle need help with. She's ready to get back into landscape design - even if she's potentially bitten off more than she can chew - until she realizes the landscaper assigned to the project is the same man she recently chewed out, unintentionally. Now, forced to see him and his stupid, handsome face daily, she's not sure how she'll manage.

*****

I unabashedly loved this book. Olena was SO relatable. Her social anxiety was palpable, especially in her floundering on how to engage with people, when to pull back, what they were thinking, and her panic at letting her mouth run away from her. The entire time I was invested in how absolutely accurate that stress was relayed on page, and how that tied in with both her neurodiversity as well as her past with her ex.

I love that we had instant attraction, but not instant love. Jude and Olena were clearly wanting to be in each others orbit, but in a way that didn't feel like they were rushing ahead of logical growth. Them both being adults who had past relationship issues that kept them cautious but open, was played out so well, and I loved how casually intimate Jude was. The sweet kisses he constantly doled out on her as if in afterthought, was adorable and definitely helped build up casual intimacy between them.

The side plot of her unhinged ex definitely kept an underlying tone of suspense, and I loved to see how both Olena and Jude grew through their conflict into a stronger pair. I also adored the side characters and I can't wait to read the next book in this series!

Such a good book! I loved Olena’s backstory! I really connected with her negative self-talk situation. Then there is Jude. I hope there are really men like him in this world, because he was wonderful. The smaller characters in the book, Nat and Wyatt, feel like such a huge part of the story as well. They serve such a greater purpose, and are loyal friends through and through.

I really enjoyed the storyline. It is told from both Olena and Jude’s POV, which I love. It doesn’t take long to fall deep into the book, a few pages and you’re hooked. I’m excited to read the next book!

Wholesome

The first word that came to mind when I finished this book was wholesome. I bought my copy of this book because several descriptions of the FMC (who suffers from undiagnosed ADHD) were so relatable to me. Unfortunately, I got sidetracked and it took me days to finally get into reading it and that is my only regret.
Well developed characters, thought out plot lines and realistic timelines made this an enjoyable story. Jude, the MMC is a landscaper while Olena, the FMC is a landscape designer. Hitting on major troupes such as insta-love, workplace romance and grumpy sunshine, the book also features representation of undiagnosed mental health issues, the importance of therapy, overcoming trauma and substance abuse.
Overall, I would recommend the book to everyone and the author will be added to my auto buy list! I am curious who the next book in Lennox Valley Chronicles will be since nobody in this book was left single 🤔

*I was given the opportunity to ARC Hey Jude in the form of an eBook sent by the author. This book was free to me in exchange of my honest opinion!* THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

I struggled a few times to get into this book, and I like to believe that I am the problem here (Hi! I am the problem, its ME!) And I think in just a few short lines you will understand why I sometimes struggle to get into new books! While I struggled, I kept coming back to it, as I knew the tropes listed are some of my favorites, and I felt the main characters would be relatable. Also, I love Brixton's social media graphics, reels and even her book's cover!

Their characters individually, YES- totally relatable, especially Olena (gorgeous name, BTW!). I often describe myself as awkward, and I am pretty sure I have undiagnosed ADHD (hence the concentration problem above!), which made her very relatable to me. I also appreciate Brixton not placing a diagnosis on Olena at every chance she got. A lot of people live with undiagnosed ADHD and do not even know it or do not like the diagnosis, even; the author made Olena relatable just by not labeling her with ADHD.

Jude is very on brand for my chosen book boyfriend type; the cinnamon roll main male with a smidge of “touch her and die” vibes- YES PLEASE!!!
Jude and Olena brought their own baggage to the table, but were able to support and love each other through it. Jude especially was what Olena seemed to have needed in her life, being able to understand her feelings and struggles with self doubt, of feeling like she wasn’t good enough and even panic attacks.

Their relationship did seem very insta-love, which is not usully what I go for, but at the same time I think their instant attraction helped me get interested in the storyline.

For a debut novel, Brixton did very well with structure of the story line and creating the characters! I often reminded myself that this was her debut novel, her writing style almost fits seemlessly with some of my regular go-to authors. I actually would love to re-read this book sooner than later!

Hey Jude
Lennox Valley Chronicles, Book 1
By: Hannah Brixton
Narrated by: Victoria Connolly, Benjamin Sands

When the meet cute makes me smile, I know the book is going to be good. This one had me chuckling, and from that point on, I couldn't wait to see where Jude and Olena would meet again. And of course, it couldn't be someone she would pass in the store! It had to be the person she would work close with on her new project. Immediate chemistry but not initially acted on just gives enough of the build as the story goes on. Hannah Brixton takes on quite a few relevant issues, each set in the story with compassion but totally realistic. She gives Jude and Olena obstacles to mount, and deepens the characters as they get through each one. Jude is patient and loving, the best kind of book boyfriend. Olena has some baggage and together they find their way. It's a little angsty, a lot romantic and a really, really good listen.

Victoria Connolly and Benjamin Sands are perfectly cast for this story. Connolly has a voice that gives Olena every emotion. She climbs into Olena's head and finds all the feelings and with a nuance in her voice let me know exactly how she was feeling. Sands has that warmth in tone, the kind Jude needs to be the loving man he is. These two brought this story alive and gave a fabulous performance.

This book was both adorable and heart-breaking. Jude and Olena have both been through some sad and terrible things they never should have had to deal with but handle it well. I loved both of them so much, even when Olena was overreacting and not listening or when Jude did the unJude-like thing. I mean it was a little annoying because it really didn't seem like something the Jude from the rest of the book would do but I get why Hannah made him do it, and I did like what happened as a result. That sounds quite confusing but it's a bit near the end and I refuse to spoiler haha! Olena and her undiagnosed ADHD were err... annoyingly relatable! They were both such great characters though!
I really loved the setting of the landscaping work. At first I had no idea what their jobs were, how they related and what the difference was so it was cool to see how that worked. Olena is a landscape designer (unsurprisingly, she designs. She comes up with the ideas of what would look good where) and Jude (and his crew) are landscapers (they do the stuff. They make the garden into what Olena designed). So it was a really beautiful huge garden setting mostly and it was cool seeing them work together and imagining the design all coming together. I really wanna go stay there! Although my god I would not deal with those creepy noises!
Anyway... Love Olena! Love Jude! Love this book! Straight onto book 2 (Jesse's Girl)!

the inner monologues of Olena had me gigglingggg <3

I cant get involved with Olena, But I cant get her out of my hea....

This book was so relatable at times,, I mean the blabbering, the overthinking, the I am not good enough....

Olena has gone through a lot in recent past and therefore she is back for good in the town she left behind for Seattle but she doesnt know how to fix the mess of her life...

Wyatt like a sweet best friend he is helps her get a new project at his uncle's tudor style property..

only problem?? she is going to have to work with the guy she had a meet disaster with who has this whole lumberjack vibe but has the cutest dog...

I loved the "F*ck it" moment and how patient Jude was throughout....

having friends like Nat & Wyatt is a blessing...

I loved how each and every character's personality shined in their own way..

I HATED HATED HATED THE EX but the "ding ding ding ding" moments Olena & Jude had were perfect <3

I loved loved the book...

Where to start… I fell in love with this book. It took a couple chapters to pull me in but oh baby, the tension and then the spice was so so good. I really love that both Olena and Jude have such respect for each other professionally and personally. Jude is the lumbersnack of dreams, his hard in all the right places yet caring heart is just swoon worthy…. not to mention worshipping Olena oh how men in real life could learn from Jude. Wyatt & Sam, and Nat are the perfect circle to have, I messaged Hannah to put in my request for more of them since I feel like they are my friends, I need to see the wedding!!! Sean I feel like would have escalated a bit quicker, but i think it’s easy to get caught up in the romance and forget it’s only over the span of a few weeks, so the timeline does make sense in that aspect. We all have experienced a person getting a crazy fixation on us in one way or another, and that makes this type of fear so so real. Having PTSD myself, I’m glad that it was presented in a thoughtful manner with the caring support of her inner circle. It’s easy to stay in our heads and pick apart every single thing we do and try to dissect how others see us, and Olena is so very relatable in that, the constant pressure on herself that she could do something better and some negative self talk thrown in for good measure. I appreciate the fact that it’s not the typical damsel in distress formulation. Olena grows within herself to save herself! Sure she needed a few pushes to start, who doesn’t? I just it does my heart good to see healthy relationships portrayed alongside female empowerment. So thank you Hannah for sharing this story with us, and I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us in the future.

📖 Hey Jude by Hannah Brixton
⭐️ rating: 4.5/5
🌶️: open door

💭 overall thoughts:
I could relate a lot to Olena, as someone with undiagnosed ADHD. How she felt in social situations, and the constant overthinking were things I connected with.

I thought how Jude behaved towards Olena was absolutely the sweetest. He strove to understand her, and never pushed her to be anything but herself.

They both fight the pull between them, but ultimately it wins out and I loved how they helped each other get over the baggage they carried.

🎙 audiobook thoughts:
Victoria Connolly is one of my absolute favourite narrators! Benjamin Sands also did a fantastic job. I really appreciated that both made it clear when other characters were speaking, which is something I struggle with sometimes with audio.

Get your copy of Hey Jude asap!! Its available for purchase today

I've always been the type of reader that if I'm not pulled in within a few pages, I'm out. I will DNF in a heartbeat because there are too many great books to read. And ya'll, when I say page ONE I was hooked! The opening scene was so well written about a date gone wrong that I physically wanted to hug the main character and throat punch her date.

And it only got better from there. This is a book that I thought about when I wasn't reading and I wanted to make time in my day to get back to. Highly recommend! Thank you Hannah Brixton for this amazing storytelling that made me feel like these were real people that I knew.

This is my honest ARC review. I can't wait for the rest of the series!

Wow! What a stunning debut!
This book has it all!!! A beautiful location, a strong yet fragile heroine and a rugged handsome hero.

Olena is dealing with some pretty serious trauma when she accepts a landscaping design job at a gorgeous property. She's anxious and on edge and to make matters worse she's just yelled at the guy who will be doing all the work there.

As she tries to make amends, she realises that actually she might really like this guy and it seems like he's into her as well!

Jude is the ultimate cinnamon roll. Sweet, strong and dependable. He just wants a quiet life in his log cabin with his dog. But no .. his world is turned upside down by a beautiful woman who might just teach him how to love again.

This is a beautiful story that does not hold back on the emotion or the spice and I'm really excited to read the next installment in the series!

This book had me cackling. I LOVE Olena's quirkiness. Especially the scene when she sees Jude while she's getting ready for a run with Nat 🤣. Hey Jude was a good mix of romance and plot. I like the thriller vibes of the stalker ex. Reading Olena overcome her struggles with panic attacks and anxiety warmed my heart.

Also? That ending with her ex? That's badass. Jude is such a swoonworthy character. He has his reservations at first because of his past, but he pushes most of them aside for her. Their relationship is so fun and playful, it had me giggling. The only thing I didn't enjoy was their romance felt like insta-love and I wanted more angst.

I loved every second of this read. Olena is quirky and awkward and so relatable. Jude is the perfect, strong, protective man. Together they’re the perfect combination.

I’m going to round this up to 4.5 stars. The first 100 pages were a little blah, but I’m not a quitter. I’m so glad I stuck this one out because after page 100 it was definitely a page turner. I absolutely loved Jude and Olena’s relationship & how it developed over time. It was so authentically written because we all have baggage. Hannah Brixton did a phenomenal job of incorporating this idea & having Jude be there for Olena through it all. #WeallneedaJude

Trust me when I say you’re not gonna believe this is a debut novel. The mental health representation based on trauma and self doubt was written with such care. This workplace romance dealt with some serious topics, so take care when reading. However, it was both sweet and spicy, and the combination was eloquently done..

You don’t always have to do it alone but let someone be by your side, like a hunky lumberjack

Such a great read! Loved all the realistic representation in this books and it opens you up to more. All these side characters were so great, that they weren’t fill in characters but important ones that we all would love to have in our lives for real in moments like Olena went thru. Would love to read more about them and what happens next for them, would be great for mini novellas 🫣🤞🏻Jude 😍🫦 oh man don’t we all love a man with a beard 🧔‍♂️ I know I do I married one 🤣 Olena and Jude were amazing so well written and it was just refreshing to read about characters that go thru real life hurt and come out stronger in the end, that they had to work thru it all and it wasn’t just sunflowers and rainbows. There was rain 😉 Just so amazingly written that I cried, laughed and so much more. And to top it off there was 🌶️🫦📖 this story and the author were worth all 5 stars and cant wait to find out what happens in her next book Jesse’s girl already started 🫣

This was a freaking amazing read! I loved these characters so much and the story was just so, so good! It was swoony and heartwarming and absolutely filled with feet kick-y and sweater pulled over the nose moments.

Olena is a landscape designer who recently moved back to her hometown after life in Seattle blew up. Jude is a landscaper who lives in said hometown. They both get hired by Olena's friend/roomie's aunt & uncle to refurbish a recently inherited property's yard.

They have a meet awkward and then a follow up meet humiliating and the story really just gets better from there. It is a delicious blend of uncomfortable, flirty, hot, and sweet.

Olena is a woman dealing with ptsd and undiagnosed adhd. She is so sweet and awkward and vulnerable and perfect. I love her with my whole soul.

Jude is a man who is working through some things - the trauma of his parents' death and the breakup of his last relationship - while also dealing with some brother drama. His is beautiful and smart and annoyingly put together. Oh my heart.

The path that these two take to each other is interesting, twisty, heartbreaking, beautiful, scary, and intense. You are gonna love it!!

“For all the humans who are too hard on themselves. You are enough”
I want to start this review by saying that I don’t normally read romance at all, but I think that could have changed with this book. I loved the characters, the setting, it was the right amount of spice and very well written. 5/5 stars and 10/10 for spice. Olena is a landscape gardener and is given the job of working a big project in the country. This is where she meets Jude, a sexy, tall drink of water who distracts her from getting anything done. Olena isn’t ready to be with anyone yet, not after Sean.
Slowly a simmering romance begins to blossom between the two, and Jude cannot get this girl off his mind. After some wood chopping, and a little loss of self control. Jude pulls himself together to get his head in the game and get down to work, with Olena.
After some back and forth, they get caught in the rain. Some mud slinging ensures, and they get interrupted by Teddy. Then Jude goes home and has some fun of his own in his shower, after chopping some wood. He chopped his own wood if you catch my drift.
Jude has some dom tendencies in the way that he speaks and the way that he acts during certain scenes, especially the spicy ones. “I realised some things are worth the risk. You’re worth the risk” They took a risk on each other and it worked out.
I see a lot of myself in Olena “You don’t have to shrink yourself to fit into someone else’s story, Olena. You don’t have to keep apologising for existing” Jude treats her with such kindness that she hasn’t seen before for a long time. Olena doesn’t know what it feels like to be treated right by a man since her last was a drug addled assh0le.
“If Jude truly cares about you… if he’s your person? He’ll find a way to understand where youre coming from” He is her person, Olena just can’t see it yet. Olena’s ex turns up again, but she fights back and shows everyone that she was only not telling them things because she wanted to do stuff for herself.
“Olena, it feels like there’s this gaping hole in my life where you used to fit” they had a fight but Jude came back to her, listened to what she had to say and then said his piece. He really loves her and wanted what they had to last forever.
eventually the two move in together, and “… then I realise,. As he pulls me closer, that i get to do this forever. I get to have him forever. And it feels… perfect” They get engaged at the end of the book, and honestly it is just the most perfect thing ever.

I loved this book so much, I have never read any romance before unless there was some romance going on in the background of my crime thrillers. I would definitely read something like this again. I enjoyed all of the tropes which are included in this book, and I think I would look for similar things in other romance books in the future. I cannot express quite how good this book is. You need to read it

IM JUST A GIRL ASKING THE UNIVERSE FOR A REAL LIFE JUDE SHARPE. I NEVER ASK FOR ANYTHING.

I loved this book plenty , I’ve told everyone who will listen how much I loved it so my review won’t be as lengthy as per usual 🤭😬. I wanted to live in this story it was sooo good and I didn’t want it to end. I read it so slow savoring every sentence . Amazing FMC & MMC.

There were some serious elements in the story in relation to mental health & dealing with trauma which I appreciated as some parts were relatable and I enjoyed the outcomes from these incidents and got me thinking a lot more about different situations people go through and how we often take things at face value without fully knowing what’s happening behind a persons smile or what’s driving a certain behaviour etc, that’s why I appreciated the love story even more as the connection and bond between Jude & Olena as they both navigated through their own challenges and how they were their own hero esp Olena she took charge of her situation and turned it around and I was really proud of the outcome. I loved how Jude loved her 🥹

The bonus epilogue is just as yummy so definitely don’t skip out on reading that afterwards thank me later 😮‍💨

So if anyone is looking for me I’ll be trying to conjure up a real life version of Jude or finding a way to just pull Jude out of this book , sorry Olena.

This is the first book I read by Hannah, no wonder because it's her debut novel 😉 But you wouldn't think it is. This book is so good. A real must-read!
First, if you put a dog into a book, especially if the MC is a dog dad, it's already 90% sure, I'll love this book 😍 So, the fact that Jude is a dog dad...
I loved Jude and Olena. AND Murphy!
Olena is very feisty. She can't stop reading when she is upset and Jude upsets her a lot (at least at the beginning). Oh yes, their first meeting. OMG 🤣🤣🤣 But hey, I can understand why Olena was so upset 😎
The chemistry and tension between them is explosive 💣
Jude is really a huge cinnamon roll. He is so cute. And he is so protective of Olena, even though he doesn't know what her problem is. Because she doesn't tell him. They just meet each other and she thinks she is too broken for anything. Even he thinks he is broken, but in my opinion, he isn't. They definitely fit so well together. Even because of their past.
I could have ☠️ Sean (Olena's ex-boyfriend) this a***** There is nothing good in this person. Really nothing 🤬
But even with the hard topics, there was a lot to laugh. As I already said, Olena has a problem with her mouth 🤣

Now I'm waiting for book 2 😎

ARC REVIEW

4.5/5 ⭐️
3/5 🌶️

Hey Jude (Lennox Valley Chronicles, #1) by Hannah Brixton

"Something about Jude Sharpe makes me wish for a sinkhole to swallow me up—just so I'd stop embarrassing myself in front of him. Maybe it’s those intense green eyes or the sculpted muscles and towering frame that scream hunky lumberjack, or maybe it’s the way his quiet stare has me babbling incessantly."

This book follows Olena and Jude. Olena is awkward, quirky and very relatable (at least to me) and Jude is strong protective and honestly the sweetest book boyfriend ever. After they’re not so meet cute, they now must work together on a big landscaping job. During this we get to see their relationship grow, amazing chemistry and both dealing with traumas of their pasts. I really loved reading about them!

Things you can expect:
😍 Cinnamon roll MMC
😬 Anxious FMCs facing down traumatic pasts
🧠 Relatable, ADHD-style hot messes
😆 Loyal, sassy friends
🪓 Rugged, outdoorsy fellas
🌧 Romance in the rain
🫂 Forced proximity in the workplace
🔥 Open door spice

Trigger warnings:
Drug and alcohol use and addiction
Anxiety
Physical threats to safety
Armed robbery
Stalking
Attempted physical assault
Self-defense including physical restraint
Driving under the influence
Motor vehicle accidents
Unexpected and traumatic parental death
PTSD-like flashbacks
Panic attacks
Nightmares
Explicit sexual activity

ARC Review - No big spoilers here, promise!

This book has a slight build-up to the meat of the plot. It did take a few sittings to really get into the story. I loved the growth of both Olena and Jude, but especially Olena. You get to go on her emotional journey of being afraid all the time (from a traumatic experience) to wanting to take back her power and sense of safety herself; to prove that she can handle her life.

For those of you who like a "little bit of spice" to their romance books; yes there are some spicy parts! The shower scene and the woodshed scene!!! 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ *Fans myself*

Overall this made me laugh, cry, and really understand what the characters were feeling as I read. You should read this book if you want to have an enjoyable afternoon and have all the feels.

*Hannah, thank you for letting me be an ARC reader for you. I really truly enjoyed the experience. Can't wait to see what you do next and would love to be a part of it.

I’m so obsessed with this book and I’m so sad that it was over when I finished reading. The plot, setting, timing, and characters were written perfectly. And not to mention it is a happily ever after 🥰 Olena and Jude’s chemistry was just off the charts amazing.

Olena Macmillan (landscape designer) was such a well written female main character, and was so relatable as well without being cringe- worthy. She a little unsteady at times but also smart and strong too. I loved reading her journey of not only finding love but also slowly healing from the trauma caused by her ex (who we do not claim).

Jude Sharpe (owner of a landscaping company) , don’t even get me started on him 😍. The way that he was so caring towards Olena from the very beginning was so *chefs kiss*. Even when she got mad towards him he kept cool and remained calm about it, and just helped her calm down by talking through it. Like do men like that even exist? His protective, understanding, respectful but loving personality had me invested in him and Olena’s relationship the whole time. He is a major green flag ✅. Not to mention he gives off all the smoking hot lumberjack vibes (tall, broad, muscled , bearded, lives in a cabin, chops wood, and wears flannel) like yes please🥵. Plus his dog Murphy was very cute.

If you are looking for a very heartwarming rom-com (with amazing spice) I definitely would recommend this

A refreshing love story from a promising first-time author! I had the privilege of receiving an ARC from the author, and I'm so happy I did! "Hey Jude," takes a typical girl, meets boy love story and adds enough twists, and turns to transform it into something new! There was also just enough drama and danger to add some intrigue to an already engaging lovestory.

Apparently, the main character has undiagnosed ADHD. She seemed normal to me, which probably says more about me than it does the writing. ;) So I guess if you like a little neurodivergency and spice with your love story, then this is the book for you!

I found the story easy to get into, but the ending seemed to drag on and on. The story/conflict was resolved, and there just kept being one more chapter after another until 18 months have passed. This whole part of the story seemed a little unnecessary.

Also, there was a big deal made about her moving home, but I would have thought her parents would play a bigger role through phone calls or dinners or something, but they weren’t even mentioned until a random dinner 3/4 of the way through the book. But maybe that's just how her relationship with them works?

Still giving it 4/5 stars, though.

ARC Review

I was provided with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and found it easy to get through. It was well-written for a debut novel. I did find myself feeling frustrated with the MFC, Olena's choices, but was glad to see that all issues and misunderstandings were resolved relatively quickly and not dragged out for too long. I could also understand where she was coming from despite her decisions, so my frustration didn't last too long. The MMC was great and very understanding toward Olena. All in all, would recommend this as a quick, fun read and I look forward to the author's future works!
