This is my first Viola Valentine mystery so I had a little catching up to do with the characters, but I was able to do that.
I loved the setting of Fairbanks, Alaska. Cherie Claire described it in such great detail that it makes me want to go there. In the summer of course. It was interesting to read the author's note at the back where she describes her trip there. No wonder it had such great detail.
Viola and her family are in Fairbanks to attend the wedding of her cousin Tabitha to her best friend and FBI agent Clayton. However, Clayton is being secretive because he's working on a case. But he's never been that secretive before and short-tempered. Viola has a few psychic episodes that give her hints into Clayton's case and when she tries to help, he gets increasingly angry with her and demands she stay out of it. Viola, with the help of her supernaturally talented family and cat, help Clayton, whether he wants it or not, to save a teen girl from sex trafficking and solve a murder. But they almost get murdered themselves. Which is exactly why Clayton didn't want them involved.
