This was a fun, cozy mystery! I loved the setting and the characters in this one were fun! I was completely surprised by the ending, but I loved watching it all come together.
Ms Sutton has gifted us with another delightful work.
Again, sadly, she sprinkles throughout the work words and phrases from the 2020s — (ie., to “drop” or release a new recording is definitely not ‘Post Great War’ English verbiage), but such just demonstrates how much we are a prisoner of our own time and culture.
And she rises above such small mistakes with the richness of the characters and the setting.
Dodo, still waiting for Rupert to “pop the question,” is embroiled in a murder on the infamous Isle of Dogs, and she manages to navigate through English and American jazz culture to track down the killer.
I liked this installment to the series, it felt a little different, a bit grittier with more interesting characters at its core. The solution was a little bit of a let down but was more than made up for by the rest. I'm also looking forward to seeing more of Willie in future stories as well.
I loved these books the characters are really well written and the description of the places is great, I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys cosy mystery stories.
As expected Ann Sutton continues to bring Dodo and her cohorts to life so that you feel that you are with them. If you're looking for adventure, entertaining characters, intriguing storylines and sense of justice then this is a book and series for you.
