I read the first part of the book and found it to be somewhat uninteresting but as I read on there were fascinating stories of medical diagnoses that greatly interested me. I’m so glad I kept reading this.
This book managed to rub me the wrong way...so much so I will not read the other books from this writer. At first, I found it interesting...but after a while it was extremely repetitive. I also felt that the author was taking cases from other people and putting it into his own words, like he himself did all these cases. I found that very annoying. I've read similar books like this where someone writes about cases doctors had heard, but he used their voices, and gave the credit to where the credit was due. It felt like a form of plagiarism, and as a previous professor, I loathe plagiarism.
The author also gets very preachy at the end of each chapter, and basically says the same exact thing. It's okay if it is once in a while but to do it for every blasted chapter is just plain annoying!
If you can get past this problem with these books, you might find the different types of cases interesting. Others did not have the problem I did with this book, but like I said, I will not pick up another one of these books.
I thought this would be interesting medical stories. Instead, it was brief descriptions of various conditions - written about with such technical jargon that the reader lost the emotional side of the stories.
