It has cute big googly eyes that move! Might creep some babies out though. Interactive for baby storytime - it's a knock-knock book, including opportunities to talk about different animals/make noises. I like that it got audience participation - it's not just one person reading the whole time, but everyone's involved and invested in this short story!

The googly-eyed black cat caught my eye when having a browse in the children’s section of the library so I borrowed it to read with both my grandchildren, ages 3 & 1.

‘Knock Knock Who’s There’ is a fun take on the ‘Knock Knock’ jokes with the funny eyes peering through the letterbox giving us a clue as to who is at the door. What follows is the black cat of the cover asking the question and discovering the different animals who are at the door in simple rhyme. A cow, a kangaroo, and an owl along with the cat all get a surprise animal at the end which makes this a short, fun board book.

My grandson (1) likes the googly eyes and kept putting his fingers in the eye-holes. My granddaughter (3) loved the final surprise animal and decided to be a roaring version of it for a little while after we finished. (No spoilers here, you’ll have to read it to find out who the last visitor is!)

We love books we can interact with and this one, although super quick to read, went down well with both ages and I particularly enjoyed the dry expression on the cats face throughout the book. The illustrations are bright and the text is in big lettering so we easily pointed to the words as we read. My granddaughter memorised the ‘knock knock’ and spotted it as it repeated on the pages.

Great fun! Recommended for babies and preschoolers.

Of course I'm going to pick up the book with the googly eyes. They are fun throughout. The back-and-forth text is a little busy, I think, especially in addition to trying to guess the next animal. This book may be the way the reader learns the knock-knock-joke format.

It had me until the last page. I love kids books you can easily do voices for, that rhyme, or teach animal sounds...just have the dinosaur say "rawr."
