Unicornia, The Frozen Palace is my favourite book in the series. But the Unicornia is my top favourite children’s book series of all time! I can never wait until the next book is published. I’m totally in love with the Unicornia series.
How exciting, Claudia and her class are visiting the Frozen Palace, by travelling in the flying school bus.
At the Frozen Palace, Claudia and her best friends decided to go off alone together, without the rest of the class.
Once they are inside the Palace that is made of ice, and is above all freezing cold, Claudia and her friends open different doors, that will take them on a frosty, exciting adventures.
But from opening too many doors, Claudia and her friends get lost, and start to feel extremely cold, and do something that makes the ice built, Palace start melting.
How are they going to find the rest of their class? And will the Frozen Palace, be safe from melting?

June 2026: Unicornia: The Frozen Palace
In this episode, Claudia, Pippa and Sara are going on a school trip to the Frozen Palace. Frozen Palace is a special place. It is made of ice and taken care of by a family who are known as the Protectors of the Northern Lands; Diana, Carlos and their son Kiko.
Before reaching the place, their teacher, Miss Florinda reminds them to respect the Palace and listen to the dos and don’ts that the family told them. However, Claudia was already in trouble when her tongue stuck to an ice reindeer statue right after they got off the bus.
The family gave them 2 rules to follow during the visit:
1. No light, candle or lamp must be lit inside the Palace
2. Must stay in group
Kids get extra excited during a trip with their friends and no parents around. Plus, it's a new place to explore. This time, the storyline is beyond my expectations. I thought the trio is going to help other friends who did not follow the rules. But no, they were the ones who started to wander off on their own!
Another expectation that turned wrong is expecting a dull ice palace with static statues. The palace has rooms of puzzling and tricky rooms. I love how it turns out. One room is full of penguins while the other is full of reindeer. You must close the door every time you enter or… disaster awaits!
This reminds me of the time we went to a House of Mirror years ago; it was just a small room but we totally lost it. It was a scary experience especially when we started to lose each other!
Claudia and her best friends thought they were safe with Pippa's torch when they started getting into a dark and shrinking corridor. They did not expect the effect of using the torch to be very harmful because light energy eventually turns into heat energy.
This episode taught young children to follow rules, especially when you go to new places. It is not a way to restrain the kids but safety is something you can't compromise. Thank you Pansing for this book, available at all good bookstores. The best in the Unicornia series for me.

Another wish-fulfilment sweetness and light trip to Unicornia
I'm definitely getting too old for these! I would have adored them at 7 or 8. The ideas floating (sometimes literally) around, the lists of amazing things, and here - the ultimate school trip... to an Ice Palace!
I wonder if young readers will notice that our main character is the only one not wearing a hat and coat?! My Mum Tendencies are showing.
This episode, the three best friends take their flying bus to a school trip with their classmates. The rules - no torches or lights inside the ICE palace. And stay together. Hmm, guess what happens? Even though they then of course have lots of adventures, I was disappointed that there are no real consequences to their actions and rule-breaking.
It's a sugary concoction of magical goodness and imaginative fun, but clearly each time with a lesson, I do think the girls should have had some sort of punishment for breaking the very simple rules and putting others in danger...?
Sorry, killjoy here. It's fun, frothy and there ARE lessons as well as storytelling and reading joy to be found here.

Tracks with the quality of writing of the first four books, with a whole new setting beyond the Unicornia Academy and a better sense of diversity and development in the writing. It does fall into the trap of feeling a little repetitive across a few pages, though.

as a children's book I found this book very captivating and magical my daughter loved me reading this book to her. It has loads of fun and imaginative creative writing in it

This one had a fun premise with the ice castle and the different rooms. Probably my 2nd favorite of the series so far.
