My kids and I met the author of this book, Phyllis Hall Haislip, in Colonial Williamsburg. Because the author's own son played for the Colonial Williamsburg Fife and Drum Corps, this children's book has a great deal of realism to it.
Teddy hails from Williamsburg, Virginia where his parents' loyalties are on opposite sides of the war. His Fife and Drum Corps unit follows the militia in 1780 to Camden, South Carolina...
I was surprised by how emotionally overcome I was by the story.
