Annalyse never expected to make a friend through a window, but her talks with the guy who lives next to the bus stop have become a favorite part of her day. But when a sudden schedule change reveals a secret he hadn't meant to share, is there anything she can do to make things right? Or is their window friendship broken beyond repair?
Saved by God's grace, Faith Potts is a teenage writer and homeschool graduate, living with her family and beloved yellow labs in the North Carolina mountains. When she’s not weaving stories, consuming large amounts of coffee, reading stacks of books, or studying American Sign Language, she can be found laughing harder than is healthy, daydreaming, and—of course—blowing dandelions.
Within only a few pages, Faith had me hooked and by the end I wanted more. A lot more. That last line though! *sigh*
The window fellow *heart eyes* was mysterious and I instantly wanted to know more about him. His grin though!
I love Annalyse’s personality. She’s hilarious and really relatable and I found myself wanting to know more about her, just as I did the window fellow.
Their relationship just made me smile and ahh... I want more of them.
I give this 5 big stars and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a sweet short story that’s absolutely clean, unique, and wonderful. Great job, Faith! <3
P.S. If there is ever a sequel written for this, I AM SO 100% IN. ;)
*I would like to thank the author for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This short story by Faith Potts is just so sweet and precious!
Faith Potts is a skilled young writer, making the characters come alive with her words. I love the way she tells of the little details of Annalyse routine life, making you feel as if it could be a true story after all. She also splatters her story with a bit of light humor, making the reader grin. Even though you know something unpleasant is going to happen right from the beginning, when it does happen, it just makes your heart ache. You feel the emotion and pain right there with Annalyse.
I don’t want to say too much or I may end up giving the whole story away, but I will say I was delighted with this sweet little story.
Even though I generally prefer reading whole books, this story was well worth the read and will most likely stick around in my heart for some time.
Note: I received a complimentary copy of this story from the author for promotional purposes. I was not required to write a positive review. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.
Such an adorable, sweet story from my lovely friend! SO HONORED that I gotta help her edit this. FREE ON KINDLE TIL THE END OF JUNE SO HURRY AND GO GRAB YOURSELF A COPY! 💕
This was a well written short story. A good message about how friendships can develop and unseen blessings that can come from a smile, a wave, and a word of greeting. I enjoyed it.
AHHHH, y'all, THIS STORY. *clutches heart* I don't even know what to say except READ IT OR YOU'RE MISSING OUT!!!!! It wasn't one of those intricately detailed stories with mind blowing plot twists and stunningly complex characters, but that's why it was so good! The story was simple and easy to read (I think I read it in 30 minutes or less, but hey, it's a short story) ;) and the whole plot was SOOOO sweet!!!! It gave me all the feels and even made me a bit teary eyed with the ending! I obviously don't wanna give anything away, but if you're looking for a quick, clean read that's heartfelt and UGH, just SO STINKIN' ADORABLE then totally put this on your want-to-read list!!! You won't regret it! :)
I LOVE the way Faith writes romances-- I don't know what it is, but something in the interactions and the dialogue and everything always just gives them real "chemistry"! And as usual, her characters are so likable from the beginning. The writing was fantastic, of course.
I definitely liked the story concept! And the way it was carried out! And I'd already guessed the ending of the story but that didn't make it any less wonderful. This is a really short but sweet story and I enjoyed every second of it :)
*Thanks to Faith for providing me with a complimentary copy of this short in exchange for an honest review!
Short yet sweet. An endearing story that leaves you with a content and happy feeling while learning a wonderful lesson as well. Definitely something I'd recommend!
Well. If this isn't the most adorable lil' thing, I don't know what is.
For being as short as it is, I got awfully connected to the characters, haha! Annalyse's character voice was amazing (all her little side notes just made me laugh), and Mr. Nameless? *smirks* Faith Potts strikes again with fantabulous and endearing guy characters!
Perfect for someone with just a pinch of time on their hands and not willing to commit to a whole book!

Whaaatt!!!! It's over?????? I want more! I have officially read all of Faith's books that I could get my hands on. I'm really sad there's no more to read!! I loved every single one of them.
So wonderful!!!!! I just went and re-read it so I could write a better review...and I think it was even better the second time around!!! I'll get to the point now...
Pros: 1) Pretty much everything. And I'm not taking that back. 2) Annalyse's voice (technically, we would call this writing style). It was informal but well done, fun to read but not too light-hearted to get the message across. It was written in true college student style - somewhat scattered, modern, random big words thrown in, and altogether like a young college student. It made reading and enjoying it so easy! Not to mention that it really was written like Annalyse decided to sit down and write out her story. 3) Message. I've already mentioned the voice that the story was told in. Somehow it seems to accent the serious message behind the story even more. It's "show don't tell" at one of its heights. Never, ever, does Faith Potts come out and say what she means. Yet the whole story screams it! I'm all too likely to forget it if someone tells me something straight out, but give me a story like "Window Fellow"? I'm not likely to forget it soon. 4) Annalyse. First off, she has a beautiful name! And we're so much alike! I can relate to her even in the simple things, which makes the story that much more enjoyable! 5) The length. It's wonderful! Not so short you feel cheated, not so long you lose interest. Perfect! 6) So. many. quotable. lines. Seriously, y'all. Beware, because I'm listing a few of the best ones down below! 7) 8) The cover. It's beautiful! 9) A really well-done indie story. I love it when I find indie-published stories with professional-looking covers, great editing, and wonderful writing. "Window Fellow" definitely qualifies!!!
Cons: I got nothin' worth listing here.
Content: Super clean!!! No violence (except for a mention of decapitating rats...no gory details or anything). No bad language. There are two words (each used once) that I don't use, but I don't consider them "bad words." Nothing inappropriate (see Pro #7)!
Quotes:
Honestly, it’s impossible to stay mad at this guy for more than 8.973 seconds.
"I miss your smile. -Annalyse"
...overthinking every thought that could possibly (in the span of a thousand years) cross his mind when he read it...
*Note: A big thanks to the author for sending me a free ARC of this story! All opinions are my own. I was not required to leave a positive review.*
Faith has done it again--this little story is so cute and heartwarming!! I immediately loved the characters, and the story felt so real...like I was walking the rainy streets and riding the death-bus right along with Annalyse and hoping to see/wave to the nameless person in the window. I highly recommend Window Fellow, and I would /absolutely/ love to read more about these guys! <33
Wow for such a short story it was beyond all expectations!!
I heard a lot about this little short story, and I had high anticipations for it! This book exceeded them all! I enjoyed it immensely and I would recommend it to any reader. Full 5 Stars!!
Annaleise has made friends with a young man in a window. They meet every day - without fail - a pattern that can't be broken. When the pattern breaks, can Annaleise do what it takes to heal their friendship?
I recommend for ages 10+.
This is a solid example of the short story genre.
It is impressive how much the author endeared me to the characters in so few pages. I still can't get over how adorable they are together. Can Faith Potts invite me to their wedding PLEASE?
This the sweetest thing I have ever read.
Just wow. Wow. WOW WOW WOW. I love it. Did it really have to end?
I read this during a power outage and it definitely made my reading night, in the dark worth it. I loved the sweet romance and the high level of anticipation.
"Window Fellow" is a such a fun short story written by Faith Potts. It actually releases today on kindle, so you should head over to Amazon so you can read it! I love this short story so much. The writing is so amazing and I love the interaction between the characters. I don’t typically like short stories, but this one is so good, I just wish it could be longer so I could get to know these characters better.
2025: reread The audiobook just released! It’s very well done and it was so fun to revisit this story by listening to the audiobook. :)
An unexpected friendship starts between a young student and a man at his window while she waits for the bus. A great complicity settle between them no matter their differences... A real friend will accept you as you are. It's a sweet novella.
Another lovely one by Faith Potts. This short story is both sweet and deep in its own way. It raises a topic that is often brushed aside in society. I can definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants a quick but meaningful read.
Such an adorable little story! I love the relationship that develops between them and the way that Annalyse reacts when she finally learns the truth... I pretty much just want to squeeze both of them! <3<3<3
Content--a few uses of "darn" and "drat"; mentions of decapitating mice
I wrote the summary for this book and received a free copy from the author. A positive review was not required. All opinions are my own.
