this was lent to me. and after reading the first 5 chapters i can't go on! no puedo mas. all the women are prostitutes, nags, frivolous and aborting fetuses that men 'have to' throw away. in 5 chapters 2 have been raped and 1 killed.
doesn't matter much to me that tatsumi is considered a 'grandfather' of alternative japanese graphic novels nor that he was so prolific. his portrayal of human nature is bleak and shallow. there doesn't seem to be redemption or remorse. at the end of the book there is an interview and tatsumi begs, 'please do not interpret these stories as representative of the author's personality.'
