Breakdown-
*Hero: Sebastian, 40, and I suppose a real estate tycoon???
*Heroine: Rebecca, 22, and only daughter of an influential family that has been historically highly renowned.
*Was marketed as Enemies to Lovers, but read more like an instalove.
*Age-Gap
*Arranged marriage
*Surprise pregnancy

Our hero and heroine's parent's strike a deal that if their two children marry, the hero can save the heroine's family from their recent financial struggles, while the heroine can help further the hero's business prospects by getting him into higher social circles using the influence of her family's name. Both the hero and heroine agree to this and soon find themselves actually falling for each other...

I'm not sure where to start. I hate to lash out with criticisms right off the rip, but there's so much that went wrong with this one, it's hard not to. This book needed a proper editor something fierce. There were missing words, sentences that started that dropped off to nowhere and even had a character's name changed twice within the span of a couple of paragraphs. We started off talking to 'Michael'. Then he became 'Henry' and was referenced as such several times before he was 'Michael' once more. That's the most basic of editing. It makes me question if the author ever went back and read her work in its entirety before she preceded to self-publish. And everything a character said was EXCLAIMED!

I hope this author understands that to exclaim is to shout or declare something, often with great emotion. Whether that be fear, excitement, outrage-- whatever-- it's an emotional "outcry". And this was used soooooo much and incorrectly after a character said something, that it made me nauseous. I'd be happy to never see anyone exclaim anything ever again in literature.

The conflict of the story, for the most part, revolved around not letting her mother find out that she owned and operated her own bakery. Because that is so far beneath them.....

And of course at one point the pregnancy became part of the conflict that needed to be resolved in reference to her mother, but the author definitely put more critical emphasis on the bakery issue and I couldn't understand why. It felt silly and I couldn't take any of it seriously.
I also take issue with the fact that the blurb ends with referencing what her 'daddy' is going to think when he finds out she's pregnant, but her dad wasn't an issue throughout the entire book! That may seem minimal, but this book was presented as enemies to lovers and they had one spat at the very beginning of the book and then fell madly in love with each other. It just seems that it was marketed entirely as something else than what it actually was. It was also emphasized to be a story with an age gap, but differences in age were never really incorporated into the story which defeats the whole purpose of having an age gap. The hero certainly wasn't written to act as an older man. In fact the writing style on a whole was just very juvenile. Almost as if a preteen or young teenager was imagining how older, high society individuals would act and it all just came across as ridiculous.

Yikes…everybody needs an editor

This story had potential but the experience was ruined by a juvenile writing style and an absent editor. Typos GALORE throughout the book. And I never want to read about the supposed hot main character referring to his cock as a “boner” not once but twice in the span of two consecutive sentences. Then…for the love of smut stop using “her entrances” so damn much…in one chapter the author referred to Becca’s twat as her entrance at least a half dozen times in a single paragraph. It was so distracting. Seriously, EVERYBODY needs an editor.

Fighting for Love . . .

Sebastian woke up with a stranger in his bed and a hangover. He thought he had told her to leave the night before, but she ignored him. Her friend did leave earlier and took some of his belongings as gifts for herself. He had a big retail project he had to work on today. He had to meet with Rebecca Cavanaugh, his soon-to-be fiancé. This marriage was the key to furthering his family’s business and receiving his inheritance, and it meant nothing at all to him. Taylor opened his dresser drawer and pulled out a box with an expensive ring and he again tried to get her to leave. He was already late for his appointment. And she was angry he wouldn’t let her join him in the shower, nor feed her breakfast, nor drive her home. So he had Albert arrange a ride to get her out of there. He was thinking that at least Rebecca would be a headache-free wife – and we all know what that means!

Warned by his father that there was an infidelity clause in the marriage agreement, Sebastian’s lecherous days were over. Tonight was Rebecca’s birthday party, and everyone had waited an hour already and she still wasn’t there. The small-talk with both sets of parents was driving him crazy. He sent a text to demand she get back here NOW. And she sent a pic of herself and Jasmine having dinner with two guys! He saw the logo on the napkin and had Albert drive him there. And while Rebecca was kissing Chad, Sebastian roared in and pulled them apart. (He is obviously a believer that “rules were made for the woman” and men were free to do whatever they wanted.) He had to prove he was good at kissing, and he passed her test. And she is not afraid to fight with him if she doesn’t agree with him, especially if he tries to boss her around. It looks like he has at last met his match. Are they still willing to proceed with the wedding neither actually wants? Or will a little slip-up seal the deal for them?

Overall 2
Spice 1.5 (they're like 2 paragraphs worth each time)

I went into this book hoping it'd be a palette cleanser - a reset of sorts after being emotionally damaged from The Sound of Silence (ARC). Annnnnddd, this book did not deliver like I was hoping it would. Alright, ready for my short story below?

Sebastian is supposedly a 40-yo playboy, but we don't see this part of him. It's a brief glimpse in the opening chapter, and then there's just mention of how he used to be. He changes when he gets engaged with Rebecca with the "good last-name," a 21/22-yo. There's not much to say here, unfortunately. He is a sweet man, you see his softer side, but some of his softer traits and explanations seem to be second thoughts as if the author decided to add it in at the same moment to help explain something that was happening.

Rebecca 21/22 - I'm not sure how old she is because she's celebrating her 21st birthday, and then someone asks if she's 22 and she says, yes. Then she's 21 again, then at the end of the book she's 23. Her age is inconsistent. Anyway, she comes from old money, even though her family is running out of money. So, as part of a business deal, the parents join hands and Seb can use 'Cavanaugh' name to help propel him in the Boston scene. She has an overbearing mother who wants her to behave like a socialite, but all Becca wants to do is run her cookie business. 🤷🏻‍♀️

There were some cute scenes and banter in the story, but that wasn't enough to make this book worth the read. Yes, the man on the cover is some good eye candy; however, that's really all that this book had going for it. A few of the reasons why this book fell flat:
1. The pacing is incredibly off. When I thought it'd pick up, it didn't, then it would drag on. I am a fast book reader, but it took me 4 days to read this! Also, this book is 19 chapters + epilogue - the chapters are incredibly long, and I feel this may have attributed to the pacing.
2. I saw someone else mention this in the reviews after I had highlighted the passage in my kindle, but why is it that all of a sudden Sebastian refers to his manhood as a boner? That felt so teenager-ish for a 40-yo man. It's mentioned twice in the same short paragraph and it made me question myself when I first read it. Like, "Did Seb just say boner?" It was unbelievable considering how he is in the rest of the book.
"Lay down with me," I whispered, gesturing toward the bed. I'd stripped down to my boxer shorts. My boner was already tenting my boxers, pressing against her gorgeous ass. She ground against my boner in respone, and I felt myself get even harder.

3. The book needs editing. Random periods in places, and wrong words used at times. And as someone else mentioned, the exclamations. When someone is responding, they're exclaiming their responses.
"That's what I said!" Sebastian grumbled.

Can you grumble and exclaim at the same time? There are other references, but this was the only one I highlighted towards the end because it was getting to me.
4. It felt like this book was written by someone who does not have much writing experience. It felt very naive and amateurish.
"The prenatal vitamins were making her hair shine."

5. The time jumps made me a little crazy. 2 weeks, 3 weeks, all the jumping forward had me question if I calculated the pregnancy wrong. I thought she was at least 6 months when she was 1.5 weeks away from her wedding. Who can hide an 18-weeks, twins pregnancy from their parents?

I feel if this book was edited with the help of a proofreader, it could be saved. There is a lot of potential in it. For now though, I'd recommend skipping this book if you're looking for enough conflict to carry a book, smut and/or a book for quick entertainment.

Arranged Silverfox was an unexpectedly delightful enemies to lovers, age gap, contemporary romance, with a healthy side of spice.

Rebecca, the only child of Boston's Regina and Achilles Cavanaugh, has just turned 22 years old. Her dream is to be a business owner but that's not an option for society ladies. Her family is well known and need to maintain their reputation among Boston's elite. So when they run into financial issues, they arrange for Rebecca to marry Sebastian Steele, of Steele Realty.

Sebastian's grandfather started their business, and today it is run by both him and his father. Money isn't an issue for them as the business has been very successful. What they need is access to Boston's elite. Their repeated membership applications to the Columbia Club, where many deals are made, has been denied. While Sebastian never planned on getting married, he agrees to the Cavanaugh's proposal. The Steeles will provide the Cavanaugh with the funds they need, and in exchange society doors should open up to them.

Neither Rebecca nor Sebastian want this marriage, but they are prepared to make concessions for their families. Rebecca loves to bake and wants to own and run her own cookie store. Sebastian enjoys the physical pleasures of life, and never has anyone stay the night.

Forced together, Rebecca sees that he is more than just an older guy consumed with business, and Sebastian sees that not only is she gorgeous, but she's bright and savvy and has business acumen.

When I started reading this book I told myself to reserve judgement. The idea of arranged marriages is antiquated, but it seemed awful to force a young woman into a marriage she didn't want and ask her to put her dreams aside. Women aren't property to be sold off. So while that is where the story started, it blossomed into a beautiful relationship with mutual respect and appreciation.

I enjoyed these characters evolve, and show depth in their relationships with each other, as well as the secondary characters within the book. It was nice to see how Sebastian could change, although I'm not sure I could ever forgive her mother.

There were also a few scenes that were quite humorous, including one at the doctor's office, and the wedding itself.

I definitely recommend checking out this book if you're looking for something lighthearted and fun.

A Bargain for Convenience that Becomes a Gift of Love

Rebecca Elise Cavanaugh—Becca—is the beautiful, only child—with cerulean blue eyes, shoulder length golden hair and porcelain skin—of a Boston family who can trace their family back to the Mayflower. And, while the family’s 400 years of regional history has significance—opening the doors to many private clubs—the financial standing of the family has unfortunately diminished.

The Cavanaugh name may open doors, but money is needed to keep the doors open. And unfortunately, as the only child of the noble family with diminishing finances, her family has turned to her to agree to the ancient, and certainly sacrificial, solution of an earlier age—to marry for money. Her parents have agreed to join their name and heritage through marriage of their only child to the dark-haired and green-eyed Sebastian Steele, the 40-year-old handsome and fit son of wealth, but lacking the family heritage that is so necessary to open the doors of business in Boston. And while he knows that he must marry, he is not eager to meet the young innocent. As an experienced man with years of sexual adventures, he is not excited about facing the new limitations that marriage will put on his future encounters.

And so, on her 22nd birthday, Becca—informed of the expected introduction of her future fiancé at her family hosted birthday party that would also serve as an engagement gathering—has chosen to go celebrate with friends. So, when Sebastian arrives at the family birthday gathering where he would offer birthday wishes to the young woman whom he has never met, but who will become his bride, he is told that she’s not in attendance. She and her best friends have gathered at a Boston club—Delphi Lounge—to celebrate Becca’s birthday. And so, against his will, but determined to fetch the woman who had been sold to secure her family’s finances and his social aspirations, Sebastian goes to fetch his recalcitrant, promised fiancée.

Ruby Wilde offers her readers an enjoyable and pleasing tale of Becca’s sweet inexperience but intelligence and dreams wining the heart of an older man who has never fully understood or even experienced the joys of shared love. I received an ARC from BookSprout for this romance and look forward to reading other romances by the author.

Sebastian reconciles his arranged marriage.

Sebastian is a real estate billionaire in Boston. His parents and Rebecca's parents arranged for them to get married. A marriage merger for wealth reasons. Rebecca's parents are old money, but her Dad had so bad investments. Sebastian is forty years old, and Rebecca is twenty-two. He assumes that she is a spoiled socialite. Far from the truth.
She opened her own bakery. She loves making cookies. She owns The Cookie Cove. The only one who knows is her Dad and her best friend Jasmine.
Sebastian gives her a diamond ring. This way, he won't cheat on her and try to make it look official.
He is attracted to her, but he knows she is still a virgin.
He is patient with her and is willing to go slow.
It's a great story of two people learning how to have respect and care for each other. Seeing he is older, they both learn what's important and how to love each other.
I love Sebastian and Rebecca and how they fight for the people they love. I love how they deal with their relationship and unexpected pregnancy.

An arranged marriage that had a happy ending.

Rebecca was a young twenty two year old woman who was to wed Sebastian Steele, a thirty-nine year old playboy. On the day of her birthday, Sebastian was supposed to propose but Becca didn’t show up because she was in the club with her best friend celebrating. Sebastian and Rebecca clashed and he had to prove he was a better kisser than the guy at the club. Rebecca’s parents had squandered her grandmothers money and needed the money from Sebastian parents to continue to live a high profile in Boston society. Her mother was a snob and Rebecca was keeping a big secret from her. Her mom felt she shouldn’t work or own a business but that was the stipulation for marrying Sebastian. Her cookie bakery was well known in Dover. When they traveled to Napa Valley she got pregnant. She was hiding the bakery and her pregnancy from Sebastian as well. This story was funny, sad because of how her mother treated her but it showed how she was able to find love. A beautiful love story. Highly recommend it.

arranged marriage but not a historical romance

I love when a book turns out to be more than I expected and this one certainly did. At first I didn't like Sebastian because he was so self centered and wanted Becca to stand up for herself with her mother. As it turns out the two of them together are much better people and good business partners.

Becca's mother is in my opinion cruel to Becca. He father won't stand up for her but he does go behind her back to support Becca. Sebastian is a one and done kind of dater but it turns out he begins to want to spend all of his time with Becca. I love how sweet and supportive he is and tries to protect her from her mother's vitriol.

I gave this three stars because of the many bedroom scenes with way too much description. I'm no prude but i felt like the author might have been adding these to make a word count. I saw no reason for each encounter to have so many pages.

I hope you read and decide for yourself.

DNF. Couldn’t even get past the 3rd chapter.

So many issues, but I’ll just name a few.
1.From the beginning going into the book I was so confused. There were multiple times that I thought that this was book 2 in a series or something because things were alluded to that I had not read.
2. The characters made no sense. She’s a virgin, but has no issue shoving her hand down the guys pants. He’s a player who still blushes. These things make absolutely no sense to me.
3. TERRIBLE grammar. This author needs an editor bad. Or to just go over her own work, so many issues were blatantly obvious.
4. Idk what your definition of enemies to lovers is, but usually in these types of books the “enemies” aren’t shoving their tongues down each other’s throats and putting hands in pants by the second chapter.

Do not recommend.

Beautifully written and this wonderful story held my interest throughout the book. No dull moments. I really liked how Rebecca is such a great person despite her privileged but less than happy upbringing. Her mom is a piece of work. I found myself wanting to tell her mother off myself--that's how connected I felt while reading this story! Sebastian just goes to show you that you can't judge a book by its cover and not everything you think you know about someone who is in the public eye is really the truth. All the characters make sense and introduced nicely. I recommend this book highly and is well worth the 5 stars I gave it.

Sebastian's parents have had it with his womanizing ways and demand he settle down with the bride of their choosing that will benefit their family. He agrees, resigned to a passionless marriage, until he meet Rebecca a fierce, beautiful, smart woman who he is instantly attracted to her, but she doesn't fall at his feet. They clash, heat up, clash again, and things heat up again. It was a roller coaster until Rebecca has a big surprise, she is going to be a mother. How would Sebastian react to the news that he will be a father?? The book is full of sizzle, steam, drama, some twists, and turns, some really fun surprises. Great read, 5 stars from me.

I really enjoyed this story. Sebastian and Rebecca were great. I love the banter and push and pull between them. Sebastian's father has arranged for him to marry Rebecca to help the family move up the social ladder. Rebecca has always done what her parents have asked and has been dealing with a mother who is very critical. The two begin to grow closer together and Sebastian soon realizes Rebecca is not the spoiled princess he thought she was. Rebecca is beginning to also realize Sebastian is not the arrogant cold man he seems to be. The two are falling for one another. The chemistry between them is passionate and steamy. This is a very entertaining and well written story. I loved the HEA.

This is an arranged marriage enemies to lovers at its core. But there are so many other things that figure into making this a great story. Sebastian's grandfather made marriage a condition of his inheritance and there has been a contract for him to marry Rebecca. She doesn't really want the marriage, she wants to be a business person herself but also knows that is not allowed for people who are of her station. Sebastian finds out that there is a fidelity clause to the contract and although they spend more time together and start to see that it might work out, he's still looking for her to slip up (even though he has also). When there's a baby on the way, they have to view things differently. Can they make a marriage actually work?

A solid series starter!

Ok, before I say anything else, I need to get this off my chest: Ophelia and Ralph? Really! Even for imaginary kids, those names are cruel and unusual punishment.

That said, I liked the book well enough. I think I grew into liking Sebastian as the book went on, but I suspect that was the whole point. Rebecca was very young but holding her own as a main female character. She was a bit ‘woe is me’ with her mother, and given that Becca was written as someone who came from excessive privilege, it was a bit hard to feel sorry for her. Sebastian and Rebecca made a nice couple, but I have to say that 40 is hardly Silverfox territory, unless the guy is predisposed to premature greying.

Sebastian Steele and Rebecca/Becca Cavanaugh narrate their points of view . Sebastian and her father cut a deal, her father’s crumbling media empire needed an injection of cash and lots of it . Promising a lucrative payload for agreeing to marry Sebastian, her dream to graduate early plus secure funds for her very own bakery…Sebastian gets the old money name of Cavanaugh to capitalise on….They are supposed to be hands off but they soon can’t keep the heat rising with their hot chemistry , soon theirs a couple of buns cooking in her oven ….Oops . Very well written as I’ve come to expect by this author . Compelling immersive read.

REVIEW
Score: 3/5
POV: Dual
Heat Level: 5+/5 (but yet somehow tame)
Tropes: Enemies to Lovers; billionaire; independent FMC; arranged marriage; age gap (15+ years); pregnancy

This was cute. The writing was super subpar but I was still somehow miraculously enthralled in the story. Also the MMC is 40 but he’s written like he’s 28 or something. It really threw me off but I think that’s just where the subpar writing comes to play. There were a lot of 🌶️ scenes but they were super mild. Like 3-5 sentences long. I think it’s clear in the synopsis but the FMC is pregnant through half of the book.

overall good… one slight bothersome detail

It really bothers me when the math ain’t mathin. She said she was 18 weeks at her wedding, which puts conception around the beginning of May, which was about a month after they met (her 22 birthday), so sometime in early April, which means those babies were born some time in February. So how are those babies 6mo old on her 23rd birthday.

I know it’s minuscule but those little details really bug me.

Otherwise I like the Becca character and her ambition. Also it was well written and flowed nicely.

Slow start, but good!

This had a very slow start for me. The chemistry was there from the early beginning. The steam was good. The character building was hood. The angst was good. And once you got through the beginning, it picks up steam like a locomotive going down a hill.

It doesn't feel rushed. It feels fully finished, but I didn't want it to end.

HEA, no cliffhanger and no cheating! WOO!

Sometimes in your life the expected happens; you really fall in love with the individual from an arranged marriage. You realize you both have so much in common that falling in love is easy; along with an unexpected pregnancy with twin. But as an old saying goes true love does conquer all as well as having your own rich man family ( a son and a daughter) was a surprise but also a blessing and a bonus to the foundation that they were building.

Great story!

Sebastian owned his family company. He was 40 and was asked many times why he wasn’t married. His father asked for he would marry his friends daughter and that would help both of their companies. Sebastian agreed and so didn’t Rebecca. She was 22 years old and owned her own bakery. Well at first she didn’t like him. But then they decided to try and be friends.
It is a very good story. I loved it, it was romantic, funny and lovely.

Sebastian and Rebecca

I loved it! We have arranged marriage, age gap, virgin, high society, crazy parents, good friends, sisters, spice, and cookies. Not a lot of drama, no other relationships, just a good story with love, acceptance and a couple that had the idea that they were going to give 💯. The HEA was so good. It was really good.
