Paul was born in Toledo, Ohio to Bob and Fae Tripp on November 12, 1950. Paul spent all of his growing years in Toledo until his college years when his parents moved to Southern California. At Columbia Bible College from 1968-1972, (now Columbia International University) Paul majored in Bible and Christian Education. Although he had planned to be there for only two years and then to study journalism, Paul more and more felt like there was so much of the theology of Scripture that he did not understand, so he decided to go to seminary. Paul met Luella Jackson at College and they married in 1971. In 1971, Paul took his first pastoral position and has had a heart for the local church ever since. After college, Paul completed his Master of Divinity degree at the Reformed Episcopal Seminary (now known as Philadelphia Theological Seminary) in Philadelphia (1972-1975). It was during these days that Paul’s commitment to ministry solidified. After seminary, Paul was involved in planting a church in Scranton, Pennsylvania (1977-1987) where he also founded a Christian School. During the years in Scranton, Paul became involved in music, traveling with a band and writing worship songs. In Scranton, Paul became interested in biblical counseling and decided to enroll in the D.Min program in Biblical Counseling at Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia. Paul then became a faculty member of the Christian Counseling and Education Foundation (CCEF) and a lecturer in biblical counseling at Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia. Paul has also served as Visiting Professor at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. In 2009, Paul joined the faculty of Redeemer Seminary (daughter school of Westminster) in Dallas, Texas as Professor of Pastoral Life and Care.[1] Beginning in June, 2006, Paul became the President of Paul Tripp Ministries, a non-profit organization, whose mission statement is "Connecting the transforming power of Jesus Christ to everyday life." In addition to his current role as President of Paul Tripp Ministries, on January 1, 2007, Paul also became part of the pastoral staff at Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, PA where he preached every Sunday evening and lead the Ministry to Center City through March, 2011 when he resigned due to the expanding time commitments needed at Paul Tripp Ministries. Paul, Luella, and their four children moved to Philadelphia in 1987 and have lived there ever since. Paul is a prolific author and has written twelve books on Christian living which are sold internationally. Luella manages a large commercial art gallery in the city and Paul is very dedicated to painting as an avocation.[2] Paul’s driving passion is to help people understand how the gospel of the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ really does speak with practical hope into all the things they will face in this broken world. Paul is a pastor with a pastor’s heart, a gifted speaker, his journey taking him all over the world, an author of numerous books on practical Christian living, and a man who is hopelessly in love with Luella.
New Morning Mercies - For Teens by Paul David Tripp ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loved reading through this devotional that is coming out next month (March 26). It was truly thought provoking, challenging, & encouraging. Looking forward to getting it for C to work through because I think she’d love it.
Thank you @netgalley and @crosswaybooks for the ebook ARC of this devotional! #netgalley #newmorningmercies #bookstagram #literarypearlsof24
This devotional is very similar to the original New Morning Mercies, but some of the language is slightly simplified. Also, Paul Tripp ends each day with a reflection question designed to help teens consider the theme of that day and how it applies to their lives.
I love how Paul infuses Scripture and the gospel message into each devotional. He gives us a lot to think about and has us asking if what we believe to be true is actually making a difference in how we live.
I have enjoyed reading these with my teenage sons, and I’m looking forward to continuing the habit this school year.
I was so excited when I saw Paul David Tripp was going out with a teen version of New Morning Mercies! I read the adult version of this back in 2018, and it was and still is one of my favorite and most recommended devotionals that I share with others. New Morning Mercies for Teens is no difference. My daughter is currently reading through, and I took a peak at a few of the daily devotions, and it has good biblical theology teaching and encouragement in each days reading. Which does not surprise me, from reading and listening to Pastor Tripp over the years.
This is meant to be read through a year, with 365 devotions, but you could start it at any time. This would make a great book to give as a gift for graduation, but I would just go buy it for your teen right now! This will definitely encourage and challenge them in their faith! At the end of each day’s reading, which will take just a few minutes, are reflection questions to help the reader process and take it deeper while applying what they learned.
This devotional for adults is by far one of my favorites. I´m beyond excited to have it available for my teens! Tripp is one of my favorites so it was almost certain that he would enjoy this book. I like that it's not "feminized" or "cheesy" like many year-round reads. The themes are presented in a brief and profound way, as they are, even if they sound strong. The beauty and hope of the gospel are contained in every page. When friends ask me about devotionals appropriate for men, I think this is an excellent gift choice. It is suitable for both sexes. I´m sure both of my children (boy and girl) will enjoy this content. I´m grateful they pull it together for us to learn and enjoy.
New Morning Mercies for Teens by Paul David Tripp does not disappoint! Just like Tripps first book New Morning Mercies Tripp uses the Bible to help the teen develop an eternal perspective through many of life’s struggles in this fallen world. My teens have enjoyed each devotional and love the reflection questions which help them to apply the lesson to their own lives.
Paul David Tripp did not disappoint with this! I am so excited to share this with my teen to help deepen her relationship in Christ! It’s been amazing to have such a wonderful devotional that is relevant to teens! Can’t wait to continue digging into The Word with my daughter as she grows into a young adult.
This devotional is aligned with Biblical truth and has some great observations. Each devotional is tied to a passage of scripture and has reflection questions.
It could, however, use some editing. We read these aloud in the morning and oddly worded passages and repetitive words are magnified when read aloud.
I’m a fan of Paul Tripp’s writing, and this version takes the heart of New Morning Mercies and makes it more accessible for teens and young adults. We read through this in family devotions. Quite good.
