I’ve spent my whole life running.
Running from the sins of my father.
Running from my family.
Running in the opposite direction of anything that could hurt me.
But when it comes time to run for my life, I realize that’s the last thing I want to do.
And the man that’s been lurking in the shadows, the one I could feel but could never see, wont allow me to.
Tommy wants to own me.
He wants to possess me.
And I’m powerless to the pull his pitch black soul has to mine.
Can he keep me safe? Or was a lifetime of running all for nothing?

This is a dark stalker romance which is linked to the Frost Industries Series but does not require you to have read that series. This book contains dark themes which readers may find distressing. Reader’s discretion should be applied.

Found myself a new author when I was recommended this book
Be sure to check the Trigger Warnings on this one

Tommy is the most ruthless, cruel man in the city, and Most anyone Who gets a glimpse of him walking down the street moves a side. I mean come on Tommy Hart is big, tattooed man covered head to toe in scars…. Did I mention the fact that he is the enforcer as well for the Chicago mafia ….. and if that’s not bad enough for you, Tommy is an Over the top stalker who was completely Obsessed with Clara….. the man has been Secretly sneaking into her apartment for over 9 months. I could list all the crazy things this man has done to keep His obsession with Claire under control.

Tommy has Only kept his distance from her due to the fact that he didn’t want his black heart to get too close to her good Sweet kind side……..but Tommy ends up stepping in to save her and that’s when he realizes he could no longer watch Her from the outside. It will no longer work for him. This obsession of his has taken over him.

Clara has spent half her life running from her pass
Running from her family. Most Important she is Running from the sins of her father…….
Claire is the personal assistant to Wynter at the Frost Industries

She is a professional when it comes to pushing people away. Because all letting people close can gain is pain, and she had enough of that to last a lifetime.
Just when she thought that she was in a safe place. Her past has come to haunt her.

OK, I’m not going to lie. This book did have a few flaws along the way. It started off with a huge bang. I have a thing about stalkers…...They Intrigues me and I love hearing their back Stories. But along the way, this story felt bit strained at times. Somewhere around the middle part of the book seemed a bit Redundant……… I’ve always enjoyed a good Alpha read, but Lord have mercy at times the main character seemed like he was overbearing……. Then came the part where it got really interesting about Clara’s back story and it got a little 🌶 and a whole lot darker. ……So I struggled a bit on rating this book. I was debating between 3 and 4. So I settled on four………. So, I guess what I’m trying to say is no book is perfection. What I can say is that I enjoyed it

I ❤️ a good stalker romance!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💚💜💖
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌎
Character development: 😔🤓😘😄

The heroine: Clara - she grew up in a bad situation in Florida and now works as a personal assistant to the CFO of Frost Industries in Chicago and loves both her job and the city. She was glad to get out of the hell she grew up in and doesn’t even mind the cold winters. She is painfully shy and has trouble talking to men. Though she has fantasized about Tommy since she first met him at Frost Industries even though she is aware of what he does for the company.

The Heroes: Tommy - He grew up in foster care and is now the enforcer for Frost Industries. He kills and tortures people when necessary. Currently Frost doesn’t have any real enemies, but they recently were up against the Russo crime family and there was a lot of work for him. He has been obsessed with Clara since he first saved her from Angelo Russo and his cousin who hurt her. Since then, he started checking on her which grew to stalking and breaking into her apartment, setting up surveillance cameras, and he even sometimes lays in her bed next to her while she sleeps.

The Story: Tommy has feelings for Clara, but he tries not to get close to her because he thinks she deserves much better than him. She deserves a nice guy who loves her and gives her children and a house with a white picket fence. He is a killer and a fighter, he fights in The Circle, the newest fight club he and his boss are opening soon. He craves the violence of it all.

At first, I liked that Clara was so shy and reserved, but it became incongruous when we found out that she used to be quite different. Apparently, she grew up in a family that lived outside the law, and she rebelled. It was hard to picture a teen that snuck out of that kind of a house to go to parties being a shy little mouse when she grew up. Though she definitely did want to change a lot about herself when she left that behind, being shy like that seems like something that is ingrained not something you can change yourself to be.

I liked the fact that Tommy was so dangerous despite his childish name. He once lost all control when beating someone and is afraid that it might happen again, and he wouldn’t have the wherewithal to stop himself and if it happened when Clara was around, he could hurt her. He is so determined to stay away from her, but he just can’t help himself.

“I can’t really be considering staying with a man like him…can I? Sure, he’s a serial killer, sure, he likes to fuck rough and dirty, and he has a bunch of kinks I never thought I’d be into, but he also looks at me like I’m the only reason his heart beats.”

“Okay, I’ve officially lost it. But you try being fucked into oblivion by a crazy hot, tattooed psycho. It’s not as easy to resist as you would think.”

This story gets quite intriguing as it goes on and Clara’s past comes back to haunt her. I won’t go into specifics but to say that it got quite suspenseful, and I really liked how it all wrapped up.

We saw Tommy in the last books (another series that's connected to this) and didn't think he had this crazy but dang, he kept that hidden!! He's been stalking Clara for a while now from afar since in his mind he's not good enough he's to damage and knows Clara doesn't need a killer like him. But he won't stop protecting her from the shadows. As for Clara, she's going to be taking on a different role in the company and is confused about why Tommy, a guy who helped her before, is now everywhere she is. He's cute, but she has enough problems to worry about. So it is a push/pull between them.

But that changes when the past comes back, when he sees her a bit more skittish and things have changed on his camera signals. He is there making sure no one comes after his girl. It was such a good dynamic between them.

We see the crew from the other books, which I missed!!

No ow/om drama, no cheating, secondary characters, sexy times, no virgins (she does go on one date, and he ruins it, lol)

Severed Ties by Montana Fyre was sooo good. I loved every minute.

Tommy is overbearing, overprotective and over obsessive. He’s also Clara saviour.

Trouble follows Clara around and she can’t shake the bad vibes. When Tommy has to save her when she freezes up he’s forced out of the shadows. Instead of watching her from a distance he’s now in the spotlight. Once he’s had a taste of her up close he’s struggling to keep his distance.

Tommy doesn’t play by others rules and he’s got his heart set on Clara so she’ll have to live by his rules. But Clara has a secret of her own… maybe she doesn’t mind having a saviour.

I Give Up

2 Stars.

I made it to chapter 20, page 104. 29%
I couldn't take the repetitive thoughts of both mc's anymore. Both have their reasons for how they behave. And while we never get what those reasons are we get the constant repetitive thoughts from them.
By 100 pages this story should be moving forward. It's not.
It started good then quickly became a lot of blah blah blah. Meaning the same thing rehashed over and over again.

Clara: I’m gonna shoot you

Clara: I’m so sorry *crying*
Tommy: Let’s have sex
Clara: Okay, but you’re a murderer
Tommy:Yeah, and…
Clara: Okay let’s have sex again

ARC Review of Severed Ties by Montana Fyre
*******

Fast paced dark romance that really brings the 🌶️. Be sure to read the Trigger Warning! All though the book contains very dark topics the confidence we see Clara find throughout the book and the way we see the love between Tommy and Clara grow melted by icy heart! 💕

Is a standalone but I would highly recommend reading Frost Industries Series first. Characters and character development is much easier to understand with the background understanding.

Great book!! Can’t wait to read the rest of the series!! 💕💕💕

Severed Ties is the first book in the Tainted Love series and features Tommy and Clara. Tommy is a cold killer with aversions to touch and love but he has one obsession in life that he's willing to fight and die for...his Clara.

"She’s everything. The light in my darkness. The angel for my demon. My very reason for existing."

Clara has a past and a bad one at that. When Tommy bulldozes his way into her life, she pushes and shoves but he is as stubborn as her. She'll be his and love it.

"I want her to rely on me for everything. I want to be the first person she calls when she needs something, and this is just the start of that. She will come to need me. Because I’m going to make it impossible for her to breathe without me."

Clara finds herself in danger and it's up to Tommy to save her. This world is connected to an earlier series but can definitely be read as a standalone. However, I intend on going back and reading the other series. Tommy was dark and dirty and I loved his possessive and dominant personality. Clara was strong in all the ways that matter and these two were fire.

“I need you, little fawn. I need you at my mercy. I need your pain and your fear, but only ever for me. If anyone else hurts you, I’ll end them. If anyone else scares you, I’ll wipe their sorry fucking ass off the face of this earth.”

Does a man even love you if he won't wipe someone off the face of the earth for you? LOL. Severed Ties was action packed and steamy and I was definitely a fan.

Gave up trying to get through this book at chapter 34 (48% in)
I really didn't care for it. The pace was too slow. Nothing was really happening. It was just kind of like going in circles, and honestly, it was boring.
No real background information was given.
Way too much repetitive, neverending inner monologues.

Severed Ties

This is my first book from this author and I know it will not be my last. Please check TW and content warnings before reading.

Tommy and Clara have met before when he saved her from someone else. Ever since Tommy saved Clara he has not been able to stop thinking about her. He needs to know where she is, what she is doing and he needs to follow her. There is just something about her that drew him in and is holding onto him tightly.

Clara has been feeling like someone is watching her, she always feels eyes following her but she doesn't know where they are coming from. Some days she smells manly scents on her sheets and pillows. One day she catches Tommy staring at her and she almost ends up getting hit by a car.

While reading this book I wanted to reach in and give both Clara and Tommy a hig for everything that they went through. I just wanted to tell them both that they were going to be okay. The way Tommy was a hard ass but at time Clara made him soft it just melted my heart.

The spicy scenes in this book 🥵🥵 holy shit I ate them up because they were just so good!!! The dirty mouth this man has 💦💦

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Spicy content 🌶🌶🌶🌶/5
Spice quality 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥/5

I received this book as an ARC, and all thoughts are honest and my own.

Oh my goodness! I am in love with this book! Ever since reading the Frost Industries series, I have wanted a book about Tommy, and boy did Montana deliver!!!!!

Please read the trigger warnings before diving into this read. ⚠️

In this book, we follow Clara, who we know is Wynters PA. She has secrets that no one knows. Well, what happens when our friendly serial killer Tommy turns stalker and deems her his?

A whole lot of sass, spice, and just all-around awesomeness.
This book was fast-paced and full of twists and turns. I loved finding out more about Clara and Tommy's past, and the way that Tommy softens with her when it comes to something that is uncomfortable for him is so adorable.

Also, the dirty talk is that this book has is hot hot hot, and I love how it gives Clara confidence and gives her what she needs. The chemistry these two have is just next level, and I am living for it!

I also love that we get to see the other characters from Frost Industries, and although it isn't needed, I suggest reading that series first to get acquainted with those characters.
Montana does an amazing job of making her books easy to follow and smooth when it comes to tying everyone together. The world building is also frikken fantastic!

I can not wait for the next book in this series.

*Please note this can be read as a standalone*

I think my least favorite thing about this book is that the mmc's name is Tommy. Like why couldn't we give him a name that was good instead of something that makes me imagine some skinny ass child in overalls.

Rating: 3.9 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 3-4 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (bdsm, blood play, read triggers)
Tropes: mafia, abused heroine, dark, stalker, dual POV

I really wanted to read a stalker romance that didn’t have cnc and I thought this was done well and had good spice. Add in the mafia element and its chefs kiss. If you read my reviews, you know I’m always looking for mafia books that are not arranged marriages so I loved this. Also the spice was 🔥.

So why didn’t I rate this 4 or 5 stars? I found the ending rushed. The story suffered by switching to dual POV every other chapter-not enough development per MC. And most importantly,

So originally I was introduced to this author through her Frost Industry series so when I found out that Tommy was going to be getting his own book in a new series I definitely jumped at the chance to get to read it.

This book follows Tommy, a man obsessed with a woman named Clara who he helped rescue in the previous series. Clara works for Frost Industries and is unaware of her stalker. I’m just going to say that I do love a good stalker romance and I love protective Tommy is of Clara, even if sometimes his way of showing it is extreme. As for his obsession, he kind of reminds me of how Elijah was with Snow in one of the other books!

I definitely recommend the book because I could not put it down once I started it (other than when I had to work).

check trigger warnings if you’re going to read this book!!! there’s many

i really liked this book and i would’ve rated it higher if by the time she finds out he’s her stalker for months she would’ve pushed him away more. like more angst, more drama and not clara being like “oh he’s my stalker” the next minute “he is in fact my stalker but i’m in love with him” otherwise pretty good story and i enjoyed it overall!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️It's funny, I can't say that I'm altogether surprised with how much I loved this first instalment in the “Tainted Love” series, given how much I adore Montana's “Frost Industries” series, which followed Rayne, Wynter, Snow and Storm Saint James, respectively, but honestly I was utterly addicted to Clara and Tommy's story! Tommy is every but as dark, brooding, alpha-hole as you'd expect a serial killer to be (he holds no qualms about what he does for his work, honestly it's clear that he has done some pretty messed up things, it was definitely insane to read about), but I definitely think insane and dark romance/Mafia romance do walk hand in hand! I feel like too, maybe that's part of the appeal? Well, for me at least: it often feels so outrageous yet because it's between the pages of a book, it feels like safe, addictive escapism! Honestly, I feel like Montana Fyre's books are definitely amongst my most guilty pleasure readings (except I'm not altogether guilty about enjoying them, hah). Clara is such a strong character who had gone through so much (honestly her back story seriously had me feeling all the emotions *cries*) and sufficed it to say, her chemistry with Tommy was scorching, right off the get go! I needed them together, with prowling Tommy trying to initially resist the pull, but…well, honestly, this book absolutely had me hooked left, right and sinker! I devoured it across 2 sittings, purely because I needed to know what was going to happen with Clara and Tommy's story! Please read the trigger warnings prior to diving in, because there's definitely a handful of pretty gnarly scenes and content, but that being said, the spicy scenes were next level salacious! Could not pull myself away! Can't wait to read book 2, I know I won't be waiting long!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I enjoyed this book! Although i wish it started at the scene from the previous book when Clara is kidnapped & Tommy saves her, followed by time jumps to show the way Tommy stalks her and becomes obsessed over time because the way this book started felt very choppy & it confused me because I hadn’t read the previous book before I started this one. I also think that would have helped me connect with both characters a lot better, & made me understand Tommy’s obsession with Clara because otherwise it just feels very forced.

This book is honestly quite low stakes for a mafia romance, & isn’t really all that dark for a dark romance, so it’s perfect for dark romance beginners. The plot felt quite slow at times & like it was going around in circles so nothing was really happening. Given who the character was & that this was a dark romance with the fmc being in danger because of the mafia, I was expecting a lot more action which I didn’t get. But overall it was an easy, quick read.

Clara is shy, nervous, & quiet, but when she’s around Tommy she’s sassy, brave & knows how to stand her ground. Tommy is so protective over Clara, it’s lowkey hilarious but also very endearing. He literally goes insane over her because of how whipped and obsessed he is😭 again, I wish we got to see his obsession develop over the course of those few months that he was stalking Clara before they properly met. I also appreciated the fact that whilst he was a morally grey character, he was a green flag when it came to Clara🙏🏼 though, a grown man- especially one that is morally grey- should NEVER be called Tommy🥴

I was dying to read their story since the moment they first saw each other in “Dead Of Wynter” I knew that something was going to happen and I loved every second of this book. 💗

Their story was so good and I melted when a read the epilogue, that was so fucking cute 🥰

One thing that I was disappointed, was the fact that there wasn’t much plot involving the side of the mafia, everything that happened was a little to fast and because Tommy is the enforcer/interrogator/serial killer I was expecting more action.

Good.. but..

Spoilers ahead:
The book was good I enjoyed the characters dynamic however..
There are some discrepancies in this book that kind of bothered me. For one I believe it was from Storms book in the epilogue that Wynter had her baby the day after Christmas, but in this book she didn't have the baby until January or early February.  Next, another part was that on page 138 Clara makes reference that Tommy will skin her alive but on page 218 when doc tells her that Tommy skins people alive she acts like she had no clue and goes into freak out mode. Then on page 181 Tommy states he uses a knife that he's never used to kill anyone with but then back on page 218 acts like it has been used.
That being said the book was enjoyable but having read the frost series then this book the overly used phrases "if I was a good man", "long moments/seconds" etc got a little tiring.. plot was good but until the end and it just felt like it was rushed then bam it's over and everyone is peachy keen..

A must read

I saw this book as a teaser and knew I needed it in my life. I was not wrong I devoured this book. This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. When Toomy first meets Clara he knew she was his. This has all the wonderful things a morally gray character is. This book had me wanting more in this world and will definitely be reading other books by this author.

darkness to light

He claims he is the darkness and like a moth to a flame he is drawn to her light. Little does he know of the secrets from her past and how while he thought he needed her she truly needed him. Loved this book the beginning took a little while but once it started to take off it flew. I now have a second book boy friend named Tommy Hart. A self proclaimed Diablo and a fallen Angel.

At first I was a little hesitant, I’ve never read a stalker romance but I hoped Montana would come through and oh I can definitely say she did. Dark romance was never so appealing. The care, the desperation and the anger were all depicted in such detail, I was very, very happy with Severed Ties.

Tommy Hart, the serial killer, was the most dangerous man you could meet. He thought he was never going to find love, he would just lurk in the shadows of Clara’s life, but when he saves her life once again he just can’t seem to step back into the darkness. Tommy was a hard character to like at the start, his obsession was crazy but after time I got to understand him and see he truly cared for the one thing that really mattered in his life. Learning more about his life and past was nice. These are the characters which are always overlooked in stories. He is possessive, demanding and ever so desirable. He was so steamy in the bedroom (and not only the bedroom) it got me feeling some kind of way. In the epilogue, the way he described his happiness with the love of his life, made my heart melt.

All Clara wanted to do was to leave her old life behind, and she managed to for a while but when the threat arises again, this man will do anything to save her. Clara was a feisty assistant destined to more in her life. I loved her character from the start, this independent, brave woman. She was submissive but stood her ground when she needed to. We saw her peel her layers in front of Tommy learning more about her with every chapter. Clara dissolved under Tommy, she just needed to let go. Her fighting back and attitude with him was so witty and natural. I think she deserves to be crowned as my favourite Frost Industries heroine.

The plot of this book moved gradually with plenty of unique scenes to keep us entertained. Like every book in the universe, it ended with a kidnapping, but I don’t think the trope is overused. This was not my first time with Frost Industries and seeing everyone pop up and say hello was amazing. I didn’t realise how much I missed the bunch. The new side characters also did not disappoint. I am actually unapologetically in love with Ace and simply can not wait for his book (but back off Mia he is mine).

Lastly, I would like to thank the author for sending me an ARC of Severed Tied in exchange for an honest review. Onto Tainted Love book 2❤️

Totally Alpha & Beautiful

Clara and Tommy are on one crazy ride in this book. The twists and turns Montana has sent our way keep you looking forward to the next chapter and not wanting to put their story down. I have enjoyed reading about this obsessive, stalking alpha and his beautiful obsession. Clara has a past just like Tommy does and they both have alot of growth and work to put in to overcome their own challanges and hang-ups in their relationship. Well, I’m disappointed. I didn’t really like either of the main characters. I tried to because the series was great but this book was not what I expected. DID NOT like the 🩸 play but that’s a personal thing not an author thing. I ended up skimming to the end at about 80% in. Sorry but it wasn’t for me.
