After being bitten by a vampire, she faces a reality where the supernatural aren’t just fairy tales, her wicked stepmother is an actual witch, and more than one creature lurks in the dark, including the vampire hunter, Abraham Van Helsing.
Lost in the depths of Shiningwood, Mina Nicholson wakes the morning after her father’s death with a thirst she can’t understand—and a growing aversion to sunlight. The eager Jonathan Cox and his coquettish sister, Lucy, come to Mina’s rescue, and help her navigate her waking world that exists now only after the sun sets.
Much to the dismay of Jonathan, Mina’s craving for blood attracts her to a mysterious vampire ally. As he helps Mina accept her new abilities, strange things begin happening in Shiningwood and the neighboring town and villages. Men with suspicious bites and moon madness attract the unwelcome attention of Dr. Van Helsing, whose study is of the metaphysical—and the monsters called vampires and werewolves. As Mina and her friends scramble to hide her new reality from Van Helsing, her stepmother nefariously lingers in the shadows, waiting to act with the beasts held by the thrall of the full moon, and waiting to unravel family secrets that will end Mina and all her friends.

Bidden by the Vampire is a standalone Victorian vampire suspense inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula. If you like a thirsty heroine; a couple of brooding, beastly supernaturals; and a magical tale with a nostalgic nod to the original classic; then you’ll love this book by E.E. Everly and Emerson Rosewood.
E.E. EVERLY once trampled through the Appalachian woods and built forts in bramble bushes. She loves the sun in winter and the rain in summer. She believes in miracles, the power of love, and magic. Other worlds do exist, and her writing opens portals to them. Cake is always to be savored, and her soul animal is a cat. Meow.
"Bidden by the Vampire" is a Victorian vampire suspense novel by E.E. Everly. The story revolves around Mina Nicholson, who is bitten by a vampire and discovers a world where supernatural creatures are real. Her wicked stepmother is a witch, and Abraham Van Helsing is a vampire hunter.
Mina's thirst for blood leads her to a mysterious vampire ally, and her loyalty to her friends makes her resist the lure of the full moon and the werewolves.
The story is obviously inspired Bram Stoker's Dracula and set in the Victorian era, but modern and gothic tones also appear in the book.
Nostalgic and fantastic with touches of gothic romance, paranormal, and fantasy. The full Vella novelization is 67 episodes, making it a lengthy read. However, the story is captivating and keeps readers engaged until the end so if you’re a greedy reader why even wait? The characters of Mina, Jonathan, and Alarik are well-developed, and their individual stories add depth to the plot.
Overall, "Bidden by the Vampire" is a must-read for fans of vampire fiction and gothic romance and the author's use of Bram Stoker's Dracula and the adaptation of historical accuracy make the story unique and enjoyable.
And really for real? Who can resist vampires? You can't! You can't as they make sure you just can't, LOL.
This is a well written vampire book with strong characters and an intriguing storyline. The author brings a combination of Bram Stoker's Dracula and adds in more modern terms in this interesting Victorian era story. She does a fantastic job painting her scenes and moves the story fluidly. She had me glued to the pages from start to finish. Highly recommend reading.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
This is the most fantastic thing I have read in a long time. I am simply loving it, and loving the touches from Bram Stoker's own work. Give me more Mina, more Jonathan, and more Alarik! Oh my gosh! I can't wait to read the ending!
Dear reader, while this story is set in the Victorian era, and as a contemporary to Bram Stoker's Dracula, the historical accuracy has been adapted by the creative license of the author. Therefore, modern tones may appear on the pages as well as fantastical and gothic ones, this tale being of the realm of magic, beasts, and fairy tales. Loosely based on Bram Stoker's classic is what you, dear reader, should keep in mind.
You will find in the tale narrative from Bram Stoker's beloved Dracula itself. The author wished to bring the nostalgia from such beloved phrases, and the atmosphere, from Stoker's own text in hopes of captivating you as much as she was by this classic piece of literature.
