Ruin and Sin - the first half of the Dark Island Scots series in one glossy boxed set. Get ready for steam, drama, and dark mystery.

Ruin
I wanted him. He wanted to ruin me.
It was the blood I noticed first. Running down the neck of the man on the ferry.
Then his bruised knuckles, dark eyes, and arrogant smirk.
The handcuffs came last.
No one else paid him attention, but I couldn’t look away. Or deny my instant lust.
I had no idea he was being imprisoned on the remote, dark Scottish island I knew well.
Or that he’d been kidnapped, not arrested.
I went from that naïve girl on the boat, dreaming of stolen kisses, to the one who held the key to his prison cell.
When heat turns to hate, all that’s left is ruin.

Sin
He was dangerous, but the real sin was mine.
Sinclair was my secret obsession.
The one I dreamed of in a homelife filled with violence and pain.
It was Sin’s darkness that saved me, wrapping its way around my heart until it beat only for him.
I helped him escape his island prison.
He asked me to leave with him.
But my mother is pregnant, and I won’t let another child be raised in that house of horrors.
The only way to free her is to betray the man I want and the family he’s creating.
Love is impossible when my only option is to sin.

These books are more than just spicy. I love the depth that comes out of the characters and you can actually see them grow through the book. Great story. Great read.

Jolie has done it again and I'm not sure if I should be happy or mad at her! I've read all the Scots books so I'm very familiar with her work but this is new and fantastic and worth reading! Ruin is a part of a new series and I truly appreciate Jolie for writing it. Struan is HOT and BAD and now what I want in a man. This book left me hanging (that's probably why I'm mad 🤣) but in the best way possible. This is a book hangover I truly appreciate and cannot wait to enjoy the next book.

God dammit Jo!!! I laid claim to Sin just based on looks (shallow I know) but I was not expecting to fall absolutely in love with him!!!!! I've long held Brody & Blayne on a pedestal high above all other hottie Scots and now they've been lovingly replaced by Sin. I didn't think it was possible to fall in love with a fictional Scot but here I am!! Sin and Lottie have a twisted journey to be with each other and I wouldn't have it any other way. Lottie is perfect for Sin (since I can't have him 🤣) and I cannot wait to see what happens next for them.
I'm also usually not a fan of cliffhangers but there's always an exception for you 😉😘 Keep up the glorious work and I can't wait for Scar's tale.

Ruin -
This was my first Jolie Vines book and it opened a rabbit hole. I’ve since read all of her books currently published. This book (and series) is darker than her other works but in a delicious way, the mystery and web being laid out in this book is very gripping. As always Jolie delivers on the spice and leans into some more k1nk in this, totally here for that. From the opening chapter the chemistry and heat was there.
I love Ruin and Thea but be prepared for a cliff hanger and the need to immediately jump to book 2.

Sin -
If you love a good morally grey, will burn the world for her MMC you’re going to love this. Possessive doesn’t cover it and it’s frigging fire!!
Enter Sinclair, the oldest of the our four main characters of this series. And Lottie the sunshine to his grumpy. This book leaves you with yet more questions over the mystery surrounding these boys but will leave you satisfied in terms of our main couple. It’s spicy and it’s dark!

Sucks You In!

Ruined!

Agggh! Such an intense start to this series! We meet the men of Dark Island Scots in Ruin. This is the story of Struan and Thea. We first get a glimpse of Struan in Betrayed (Wild Mountain Scots) but we learn his story now and watch his new story unfold. This was better than a great start and I’m dying for the next book!

Ugghh!

That ending! Good thing this is a box set…

Sin!!

Ok ok! I’m ok now! On to the review…

Wow so many questions were answered in this book but there are so many new questions! I loved watching the story between Lottie and Sin unfold. They had so much to work through. Additionally we saw the family as a whole continue on their journey and grow closer. And boy did we learn more about their parents! That’s all I can say without spoiling anything.

Jolie has done it again with the first book in the Dark Island Scots series. Struan and Thea's story is a packed journey with mystery, suspense, friendship, family romance and of course spice. You won't regret picking this book up!!

Sin
What a rollercoaster! One that I loved every minute of. I couldn't put this book down but had to force myself to sleep. Sin and Lottie's story is addictive. The plot continued with this second instalment in the Dark Island Scot's series and it did not disappoint. It was nice to see some of the original Mcrae's again to. You never dissapoint eith your writting Jolie! I can't wait for the next one!!

Dear god this duo was just *chef's kiss. Absolutely could not put this down once I started. I was sucked in completely from the very first page, I just had to find out what was going on! These boys are just something else!! These books had a bit of everything. Drama, angst, violence, love. The twists were just twisting , I didn't know what was going to happen next ❤️ Jolie Vines is just amazing at what she does. Can't wait to start book three and see what happens next.

Ho-ly crow!

I couldn't put it down. I normally cannot handle dark storylines, but I'm trying to push myself. This is the first duo in the series. Another duo completes the telling of the 4 brothers and I cannot wait to start it. There are cliffhangers, but mild, I would say, compared to the larger storyline. Go ahead and dive in - you will not regret it!

Two phenomenal books in one compilation. Fantastic! I love both books, and am thrilled they are together. See my reviews of each story below:

Ruin (Book 1)
A brooding bad boy, a demure young woman, a mysterious island... all the ingredients for a simply wonderful story. Jolie Vines has enchanted me with her many stories about the McRae clan. This book is a spin off from this world, as we once again are immersed in a part of the country visited previously. Thea is a good girl, who does what she's told and is a devoted daughter and granddaughter. A chance encounter with Struan opens Thea's eyes to see the world is not always as it seems. This story was simply perfect. Jolie crafted some amazing characters, with a twisted storyline that pulls you in quickly. There is a darker tone to this book than what I am used to with her previous books, and let me tell you - I am here for it. The ending has me literally begging for more. I cannot wait to see what she does with these new characters and this series overall. Excellent book.

Sin (Book 2)
Phenomenal. Darker and much more twisted than her other series, Jolie knocks it out of the park with this second installment of the Dark Island Scots series. Sin is dark, broody, sexy - everything you want out of an anti-hero. Thrust into a family he never knew existed, he takes the reigns as the leader of the group, shouldering the burden of not only keeping his new found family together, but keeping them alive as well. The story starts off right where book 1 finishes, with their rescue from the island. Distrustful of strangers, Sin looks towards finding solutions for their dilemma internally. This man. Such burdens he carries, the biggest one is self-sacrifice of his own wants and needs. One of those being the lass he leaves behind. Lottie is an islander and despite himself, he's grown fond of her. She refused to come along in book one. Her sudden appearance in book two raises his distrust as well as his desires. I love Lottie. Neglected, abused and yet still so kind and thoughtful. Forced into a situation due to her father, she's keeping big secrets. Secrets that land us into a simply fantastic story. There is so much mystery overarching in this story. Who is after this band of brothers (and Cassie)? What will happen next? Will Sin overcome his need to control everything and follow his heart? This series had me cheering, yelling out, groaning in frustration and swooning. I particularly am intrigued how this one ended. I adore these misfit characters and truly cannot wait to see what adventures/dangers come along next.
