Can Breanna warn her husband in time? Will Natalie lose her love...again? Both nurses need a miracle.
Tears fill the eyes of Nurse Natalie Fallon when she discovers old flame Rex Rawlins in the hospital emergency room, paralyzed from the waist down. They find they're still in love - but Rex refuses to let Natalie marry a man who can't walk. Will a miracle grant them a life together? Meanwhile, Natalie's friend and fellow nurse - Breanna Baylor Brockman - is terror-stricken when she learns that her husband, John Brockman, is riding into a trap with an impostor who plans to kill him. Can Breanna warn John before it's too late?
Al Lacy has written more than ninety novels, including the Angel of Mercy, Battles of Destiny, and Journeys of the Stranger series. He and his wife, JoAnna Lacy, are coauthors of the Mail Order Bride, Hannah of Fort Bridger, and Shadow of Liberty series. The Lacys make their home in the Colorado Rockies.
It's still my favorite out of the series, I think.
The verse that the title is based on has become a favorite of mine.
I love how the entire book from John & Breanna and Rex & Natalie really showcased that God is the one who is our protector, and He alone by His might can do what seems impossible.
Rex Rawlins is one of my favorite Doctor MCs - now that I remember him 😅 (Seriously, it had been too long since I last read this book)
CW: Murder (non-graphic), shoot-outs, surgeries
My Rating/ Age Recommendation: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5 out of 5)/ 16+
Anybody looking for a good Western - this is one of the best!
An old-fashioned, straight-forward western with an underlying religious theme, "Not by Might" has its heart in the right place. I am a lifelong lover of the western genre. Some of the best times of my life were spent gathered with my family watching great TV westerns like "Gunsmoke", "Bonanza", "The Big Valley", "The Virginian", "Maverick", and so many more! Later on, we never missed an episode of "Little House on the Prairie". I also dearly loved "Cimarron Strip". My grandfather, the light of my life, was a great fan of Louis L'Amour and Zane Grey. As rough and tumble and action-oriented as westerns may be, there is always an awareness of life and death and the prospect of Heaven or Hell. That theme is well represented in "Not by Might". This entry in the "Angel of Mercy" series by Al Lacy also offers romance in the deep love of the married hero and heroine, and in a poignant reunion between two secondary characters. It is faith and not "might" which is the most powerful force in a story full of rousing western action and heartfelt human drama. The religious theme is strongly felt from beginning to end, and it leaves much food for thought.
