Hannah of Fort Bridger #7

Beyond the Valley

Rate this book
In this seventh installment in the Hannah of Fort Bridger series, twin tragedies set the stage for God's glorious provision. A vicious mountain lion attack leaves beautiful, young rancher Carrie Wright a widow. An outlaw on his way to prison escapes the law long enough to shoot Doug McClain's wife, making him the lonely father of a young daughter. Then heroine Hannah Cooper, newly widowed herself, comforts Carrie with the knowledge that while God's servants will tread through the valley of weeping, they will also keep moving toward another mountaintop. When employment opportunities bring Doug and Carrie together, unexpected sparks fly and finally they can envision a future "beyond the valley."

I discovered authors Al & Joanna Lacy via a second hand store, several of their books were on the thrift shelves there. I had no idea they had written so many books! This particular book was #7 in a series I had not read any previous books within, but that was not a problem. There were enough references in the book to keep me up to date on what had happened previously.

I liked that the authors used so much scripture. I also liked that they kept the focus on living a Godly life in Jesus. The setting was vivid and the characters did realistic things.

However, the fact that the authors used so much scripture and kept the characters focused on living a Godly life meant that a lot of the dialog was didactic and stilted.

The writing was serviceable but shallow. All in all it is a great weekend or vacation book if you want something quick, nice, and clean.
