Writing beautifully flawed characters with every word, Jaclin Marie shows how the morally gray isn’t the villain in every story.
She’s always loved seeing the good in everyone, even the awful characters that society frowns upon.Writing her own stories makes the her readers love the flawed parts of her characters.
She started writing when she was 16 during Covid. She found comfort in the stories she would read from her favorite authors and one day she decided to write her own story.
Ever since she has been publishing and writing books left and right. Creating beautiful and unique stories is her passion. She can’t see herself ever stopping.
Did I receive a rough draft copy? I’ve never seen so many grammatical errors in a book before.. words spelled wrong, missing quotation marks, one minute she’s in a sweatshirt and the next she’s in a tank top… I’m no expert on writing and I get things can get missed but it felt like no one proof read this before publishing. The word “the” was literally spelled “t5he”.
I have never left a negative review on a book because I know everyone likes different things but this story was beyond repetitive. It felt like I was reading the same thing over and over, from the story line and the spicy scenes. And the writing as a whole felt like something I would’ve written in high school.
Also I don’t care what way you spin it, Ash was verbally and mentally abusive to Ariella. I actually didn’t like that they got a happy ending. Glad he got help but her staying with him wasn’t right.
I liked this in the beginning, but by the end this book really started pissing me off.
First of all, why did the female character have no backbone?? She’d let the guy say whatever fucked up shit he wanted to to her, and just stand there. And then she’d go back to him the next day. This is why I can’t stand bully romances, because the female characters have no self respect or a backbone.
Second, you would think the way they spoke and the way Ash thought always being “turned on”, and wanting to do some dark kinky stuff that the characters were in their mid twenties. No. They’re 19. Like fresh out of high school, and he’s already king of sex somehow. That grossed me out.
Third, this book was literally just sex and miscommunication. One chapter they’re screaming, he hates her he’s gonna ruin her, she says not a chance, and then bam they are partaking in some sexual act. And it was that ON REPEAT. It didn’t feel like love, it was more lust and obsession. No chemistry or tension between them at all.
Hate to Love Bullying/ Pranks Touch her & Die Dark Vibes Dom MMC Bookstore Scenes "Who Hurt You" Forbidden Romance Bucket List Dual POV/ Dual Timelines
From the moment Jaclin was teasing us with scenes and excerpts, I knew this book was going to be one of my favourite reads.
Ariella sees a mysterious guy in bookshop where she is studying, only to end up discussing about books and her asking him out on dinner.
The deal is simple, she has a list she wants to complete this summer and have no connect afterwards, Ash is too enamored by her to say anything but a yes to her.
Entire summer they spend time with each other which is strong but not strong enough as the hidden identity ruins everything between them. Ash and Ariella are children to the Lawyers of New York who despise each other so Ash instead of going back to New York stays in California only to ruin Ariella and her father..
I loved the Pain this book offered me...
the push & pull between the characters & especially the who hurt you.....
this book offered alot, the softness, the darkness, the pain, the moments to cherish forever.... <3
Such a fun read! Thank you to the author for providing me with an early copy!! This was so fast paced and I needed to keep flipping pages to find out answers, the dual timeline had me FLIPPING those pages I tell you
I loved the bookstore vibe and that being how the characters met there.
I didn’t really like the MMC 😭 man gave me anger issues ngl, but it was still very entertaining to read.
The heat between the characters, the tension and burn had me on the edge of my seat, wondering who would crack first.
And the COVER, THE COVER!! When you read the book, that cover just punches you in the gut
There’s definitely trigger warning to this book, so please please be aware before reading this 💗
I read this in one sitting and literally didn’t do anything but read it! Definitely recommend you guys pick this up, but once again be aware of those triggers before if you have any, as it’s a bit dark at times!💗
finished in the one sitting but was a bit hard to do so. forced myself to finish because i knew i wouldnt come back to the book had i left. major fan of dark romances but felt as though the toxicity of the mains were a bit much for me, personally. but it ticks all the tropes of traumatic past, forbidden love and touch her and i’ll kill you.
i finished this book abt 2 weeks ago but i didnt read the epilogues lmao 😭😭😭 BUT I JUST READ THEM i love ash and ariella so much theyre so cute and the epilogues made me so happy for them. Idk if bridgette and jace would have a book so i hope u’ll write it one day, ms marie!
Once you start reading this book you won’t be able to set it down, with the story that goes from present to past at the same time you will experience many parts of Ariella’s and Ash’s lifes. Mmc is dominant and possessive and has a troubling past that he has to cope with. Fmc is strong and feisty and stands up for herself which I loved! They have a love hate relationship with many ups and downs, and if you wanna know more what are you waiting for? Go get yourself your copy and I promise you won’t regret it! 5 ⭐️ all the way! P.S. if you love spicy books I’m sure you will enjoy this one, because the spice is just oh my god. The tension between them is out of this world. Also get ready for the emotional roller coasters that comes with the story! Have you ever wanted to write a bucket list? If so see how Ariella’s went! ! I would always advise you to read trigger warnings when starting a darker book. !
It was definitely a lovers to enemies to lovers again type. So 10/10 on spice, it wasn’t like an ease into type of thing it was like from the jump. Which i like bc if thats what you’re looking for then you will get just that.
Wish the characters were also a little older like twenties. They seemed to young.
Dual timeline thing… i did not like. I wish it was one continuous timeline cause it got confusing sometimes trying to keep up with present scenes and past.
Ash’s story line though after learning why he is the way he was, extremely sad! I didn’t get why Ariella dad was so hellbent to put him away bc as a prosecutor im sure he had all the facts of the story but i guess it wouldn’t have made sense to the hatred part between the dads.
Epilogue was a nice add. It was good to read they got a good happy ending.

ARC REVIEW: "You make me needy and desperate. I'm so fucking desperate to have you."
Broken Beauty by @authorjaclinmarie
Release Date: September 22,2023
Tropes: 📚 College Romance 💀 Possesive MMC 😈 Lovers to Enemies to Lovers 🖤 Second Chance ❤️🩹 Traumatic Past
RATING: 4 ⭐️ SPICE: 3.5 🌶️
REVIEW: Ariella and Ash, oh the poor broken beauty. Ash was the perfect amount of possessive and obsessive, well the amount that made me forgive all the shit he pulled with Ariella. My heart broke with his backstory. There were time jumps from back when they met to present day, which was so nice to have, it answered a lot of questions that I had during the first part of the book. I enjoyed it very much and am looking forward to reading more from Jaclin.
This book was amazing, some parts made me want to cry but others made me so happy. Overall I loved this book and it deserves 5 stars, shout out to author- jaclin marie. Great book
How do I say this. I mean I liked the kind of dark traumatic moments but I think I didn’t get to know enough of the characters. Anyway I might be in a dark romance hunt this year
It is very well written. The storyline between the two main characters is very catching and addictive. It's an amazing dark romance book with a lot of daring smut. Probably one of my best reads!
Broken Beauty was nicely done & I was captivated from beginning to end♥️
A very easy read that kept me turning the pages that are constantly going from the past to present - this kept me going for more to figure out the toxic, angry, possessive, enigma that is Ash🖤
Ariella’s list was wholesome yet dangerous, for her heart. Somewhere along the way the lines got blurred and they were caught in this tangled web of love & destruction.
“I won’t hurt you, Ariella.” “You won’t mean to, but you will”🥺
“You’re mine Ariella. You’re mine to touch. Mine to f*€k. Mine to ruin. And mine to own.”❤️🔥 Turns to “Ariella. I own you Ariella. You’re mine. Mine to f*€k. Mine to keep. And mine to love”❤️🔥
The cover photo for this story was chosen perfectly because it really was beautifully broken❤️🩹
Of course after all they went through they find their happily ever after & the epilogues were precious🥹
There are some silly mistakes; discrepancies, grammar & writing at some points that could use a bit of editing. It wasn’t remotely enough to put me off reading or change my thoughts because again, I could not put it down until I finished. Absolutely loved it♥️
First of all I want to thank Jaclin for this amazing ARC!! Thank you so much babe!! Anyway I adored this book!! Ash and Ari are definitely on my top three favorite couples!! This whole story was incredibly written! It was so twisted I loved it! The fact that Ari and Ash were supposed to be enemies it made everything better! The list Ari had and the way they both loved books!! I honestly just adored them!! Although I do feel like it was a few chapters to long and some chapter were a bit repetitive but I understand why so I didn’t mind it. I just fucking adored this book!! Check TW!!
Favorite quote:
“She loves books and books make her happy. Seeing her happy makes me happy.” 😩
I have no words. Jaclin managed again to shatter my feelings and mend them with the epilogue. I want to start by saying how grateful I am to recieve an ARC copy of this book and I loved it so much.
Ariella is the complete opposite of Ash but they work so well. I loved how Ariella was content with Ash's background and she didn't leave him.
Ash is a complex character which I had to take some time to discover him. I was distroyed when I found out what happened to him in his childhood and I hope no none has to go through what he did.
Well done Jaclin for writing another amazing book and I am sure everyone is going to love it.
THANK YOU, BESTIE, for letting me read this book earlier. As soon as it appeared in my email, I was overjoyed.
You guys will adore this book. It fulfills all of my requirements for a book. Enemies to lovers, possessive hero where he will literally kill you if you touch her, drama, twist and turns and LOTS AND LOTS OF SPICE.
It was a great read and loved the chemistry between Ash and Ariella. The tension and the desire they had for one another made me need a fan.
Once again thank you my love for sending me this to read. You have out done yourself yet again!
Omg. I skimmed over some pages on kindle before buying a paperback and it was SO hard not to continue reading it before getting it. Ash is the exact thing that Ariella didn't need, yet they both wanted eachother anyways. Even when they were supposed to hate eachother. If I had anything to say about that, I would say that is TRUE love. To be so uncontrollably fascinated by one another that you just can't stay away. To the people like me, the girls who still fall for the people who are so bad for them, this is your book.
HOLY FUCK. ASH JONES. HAVE MY BABIES. no but seriously this was such a good book with surprisingly, a happy ending, short enough to finish in a few days, good enough to make me want to read for days on end.
There were many grammar and spelling errors that threw me off for sure. The plot could’ve been expanded a lot more but overall good read!! Grew attached to characters and smut was 5⭐️!!
Such a good book, I devoured it. I loved reading from Ash’s POV. A good book always has the guys POV, and I loved reading when the guys POV really goes into detail about their feelings, emotions, and thought processes.
