I received this journal as a giveaway - thank you so much! I have kept journals since 7th grade and this book is right up my journaling alley. Shaheen walks the reader through her definitions of abundance, manifestation, luck, and affirmations through journal prompts like reflection questions, visualization meditations, and goal worksheets. She discusses replacing limiting self-beliefs, growing gratitude and tracking your daily "glimmers" - small moments of happiness and insight throughout your day. Shaheen writes, "Remember, luck is simply abundance in disguise. It doesn't just fall from the sky, but comes to those who are willing to align their energy with the universe and keep their minds open to endless possibilities." Thank you again!
Well thought out, full of positivity, self love and motivational guidance. The sections are simple to follow and fill in so you can work in small bursts.
This is a nice journal, it’s helping change my mindset and perspective on everyday life situations. Another plus is you get plenty of different exercises throughout it.
By grounding your intentions in positivity and nurturing your inherent belief that good things are coming your way, you can attract positive outcomes.
This book promotes toxic positivity, victim blames those that are "unlucky", and prevents people from maturing into rational human beings who can deal with the fact that a lot of bad things that happen during human lives - chronic disease, methastatic cancer, death of a loved one, poverty, natural disasters etc. - are almost completely out of their control.
This leads to people abandoning chronically ill friends and family members when they need them the most, it leads to people who are dying of cancer being kicked out of cancer support groups when they're the ones who need those the most because they're ruining positivity in the group, it leads to belief that if someone is having a horrible problem it's at least partly their fault, and should be abandoned because their problem make others feel awkward and unprepared to know what to say, etc.
In short, it creates self-centered toxic selfish people who never offer real support to others, and who fall apart when something bad happens to them because "How could something bad possibly happen when they're such a positive person"???
P.S. The whole blame on lack of a positive mindset was started by tobacco companies when they finally couldn't lie any more that tobacco doesn't cause lung cancer, so they pivoted to "Yes, it causes lung cancer but positive people will be fine. Only those weak-minded individuals who lack positive outlook die of cancer, so smoke freely, YOU are safe."
So this was a weird one to listen to as an audiobook. Since it’s a journal, the narrator reads the prompts out loud and there are some long pauses which I assume are to denote space to write.
I liked that this was a quick listen and I enjoyed the concepts discussed. I don’t normally listen or read nonfiction so this is a new genre for me in 2025 but I think this was a good way to start.
I also loved that the author is the narrator. It really felt like the author was speaking directly to me. It made the experience of listening that much richer.
I think if you’re looking to listen to this one, definitely consider doing it in tandem with either the ebook or physical book since it’s a journal.
I would have loved it more if it included some Bible scriptures. But overall a very great book because it makes you dive in into your emotions more than the superficial “how does this makes you feel”. And aside from just the book it also includes an app where you can log in your emotions and gives you prompts juts like the book, so you can use it once you finish the book. Very great detail.
so I haven't actually done any of the exercises yet in the book. I have flipped through and read the book though. from what I have read and seen this journal/workbook can be highly effective in cultivating a positive mindset. I am giving it 5 stars bc of the potential, and will update in the future based on how successful it actually is on cultivating a lucky girl mindset 😋
This journal is like a daily pep talk from your future self. If you've ever doubted your power to shift your life, The Lucky Girl Journal shows you exactly how to step into your worth and become a magnet for what you truly desire. It’s not about luck—it’s about alignment, intention, and belief. I felt more grounded and inspired with every page.
I’m not fully done with it but I’m a few pages away from finishing up and I didn’t get much out of it. It’s got great content but maybe just not for me? I feel like someone else would benefit from these prompts more than I did. There were maybe 3 prompts I benefitted from. But they’re still good prompts!
