I found the first half of this book to be fascinating. Once the rescue takes place and all the newspaper interviews are being discussed, I quickly lost interest. I feel like the last quarter of the book could have been reduced to one chapter. This is certainly better than the poor attempt of a movie that was made.

A sensational book with a sensational title and sensational details - some of them are actually true! But many aren’t. This book was completely rushed to take advantage of the sensation swirling around Uruguayan flight 571 crash and the survival of 16 passengers who lasted 72 days in the Andes before rescue. It’s basic pulp SEMI-fiction. Fun but unreliable as a factual source.

The poor man’s “Alive!” I gobbled it down like Uruguayan gluteus maximus.
