Bridgerton gets a taste of The Princess Switch in this irrepressibly charming historical romance. New York heiress Aimee Thornton-Jones knows her mother’s plans precisely—to ship Aimee to England, and marry her off to an eligible, titled lord. Only Aimee has no interest in becoming another “dollar princess.” Instead, she concocts a daring plan: to swap places with her fair (but poor) cousin for six weeks as a trainee at her father’s company, and prove she’s just as valuable as any son. There’s just the small matter of her father’s too perfect protégé who she’s certain is endangering the entire business… Harrison Stone doesn’t know what to make of the determined young woman in his employ. She’s vexingly irksome, reckless with her safety, and riles him at every turn. Each day, he’s torn between shipping her home…or thoroughly kissing her pert mouth. But Harrison—who loathes a charlatan—is certain she’s hiding something. And with the company under threat of sabotage, he’s resolved to find out exactly who this young lady truly is. But in this masquerade of secrets, all it will take is one illicit kiss to ignite the spark…and bring them—unknowingly—to the edge of disaster...

I have been eagerly awaiting this one since I read book one and was not disappointed at all, I laughed, smiled and cheered Aimee and Harrison along in this awesome story, come along and meet them in this feisty, sensual and fabulous story.
Aimee Thornton-Jones is an American Heiress but she does not want marriage she wants to work with her father in running his company but of course in 1890 that is something that woman don’t do, but more determined than ever when Aimee and her cousin Evie are on their way to England with her mother hoping she will pick up a husband and title Aimee suggests a swap with Evie and now Aimee is doing a traineeship as a secretary at her father’s office in London, meeting the son her father always wanted Harrison Stone goes off with sparks shooting everywhere and guns out.
Harrison Stone was orphaned when he was a child and left to fend for himself in New York. Meeting up with Thomas Thornton-Jones changed him and made him into the man he is today and love will never play a part in it at all, but when his mentor’s niece arrives for a traineeship she is not what he expects at all she is not only beautiful but feisty and so head-strong, when she discovers anomalies in the books they are on a mission to discover what is going on and amid that the chemistry grows and before long they are spending some very passionate time together and now he knows who she is he must do the right thing.
I loved this one so much, it is witty, sensual, I loved Aimee so much she made me smile and laugh she is so head-strong and determined and she has found her match in the Adonis Harrison Stone, but can Harrison put his past and determination behind him and look to the future for love and happiness? They are a perfect match in my opinion but they do have a few hurdles that they need to cross to find that love, will they get there safely?
I do highly recommend this one, it is a fabulous story from start to finish thank my MS Michaels I loved it, a must read and I am looking forward to another one in the Dollar Princess series.
My thanks to Entangled Amara and Netgalley for my digital copy to read and review
3.5 stars. This is a new author to me and I really enjoyed this fresh and unique historical romance! This is book 2 in a series and I do feel like I was missing some things since I did not read book 1. But the chemistry, banter, and plot were all really well done and I still had an enjoyable time with this one.
Our heroine is an American who si sure her mother will ship off to England to find a suitable husband with her fortune, but she has no interest in that. Instead she wants to switch places with her cousin at her father's business and work.
Our hero is her father's protege and he is not too thrilled about our heroine coming into the business and putting her safety at risk.
They are at odds at first but soon enough end up working to uncover a mystery that may save her father's business.
I really enjoyed this for the most part, at times I did feel like the mystery took front stage and the romance was pushed to the background.
American heiress Aimee Thornton-Jones wants nothing more than to run her father’s company, but instead she’s expected to spend the season husband hunting while her cousin Evie trains as a secretary. Aimee takes matters into her own hands: strong-arming her look-alike cousin to switch places on the voyage. Harrison Stone runs the London office of the shipping business and if he can score a big win in a merger, Aimee's father will make him controlling partner "across the pond." When irregularities suggest there's a company traitor, Harrison and Aimee find themselves entangled in a web of deception and passion.
This is the second book in the Dollar Princess series, and book one and two take place on the same timeline. I recommend reading them as a pair.
Aimee Thornton-Jones has rejected multiple marriage proposals. Had she been born a male, she would have been training to run the family business instead of being sent to explore the marriage mart in England. When the idea for a swap takes hold, Aimee sees it as a chance to finally work and gain the day-to-day business experience she's been craving. After his parents' death when he was a child, Harrison was rejected by a loathsome uncle and forced to survive on his own. A lucky break with Aimee's father gives him the chance to prove his worth and work to make himself a success.
I loved the first book, and this one was just as good...perhaps even better. Aimee and Harrison get off to a terrible start and grate on each other constantly. Aimee wants to have a career and has no interest in a loveless marriage. Harrison is also not interested in marriage, as he does not want to experience love and loss. I enjoyed the business intrigue very much and the author did an amazing job of keeping enough possible villains in play to make the ending still surprise. Can't wait for the next one!
Tropes: Prince/Pauper Retelling, Lookalike Swap/Mistaken Identity, Class Difference, Enemies to Lovers, Working Heroine
I received an ARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
I LOVED THIS!! I started it at 6 pm, and stayed up way past my bedtime reading, and then I woke up at 5 am before work so I could finish it. I haven't been this excited reading a historical romance since I can't remember when. It had everything, and I mean absolutely everything, that I could want in a romance. Mistaken identity, one of my top favorite tropes, check. A self-made hero, check. Enemies to lovers, double check. Tons of witty banter and sizzling chemistry. I adored Amy. She is one feisty lady, and the fact that she is intelligent but likeable at the same time really won me over. I really have been struggling with these types of heroines because they come across cold, but not her.
This book had just enough mystery in it as they both were working to uncover who was attempting to ruin her father's business and kept me guessing to the end. The romance didn't take a back seat to the mystery. It was the perfect blend. I really can't wait to read more from Maddison Michaels and will definitely be reading her prior releases. This series has turned me into a new fan.
Ok, this regency was great. Spunky Aimee was the best kind of heroine who enchanted everyone, including the hero in spite of themselves. Lots of action and romance.
I definitely want to hear the other half of the story. I hope there's an Evie book.
New York heiress Aimee Thornton-Jones has no interest in becoming another “dollar princess” When her mother sends Aimee to London for the season & to find a husband she concocts a daring plan: to swap places with her cousin Evie for six weeks as a trainee at her father’s company and prove she’s just as valuable as any son. Harrison Stone doesn’t know what to make of the determined young woman. She’s vexingly irksome, reckless with her safety, and riles him at every turn. This is the second book in the series & whilst it could be read on its own it does run on the same timeframe as the first story which is Evie’s story. I adored the banter between Harrison & Aimee & the chemistry between them sizzled. They lock horns from their first meeting & continue to do so at each encounter, obviously attack is the best form of defence as they both don’t want to fall in love & marry but their growing feelings unsettle them. There are problems with the company’s ledgers & a lucrative business deal is being sabotaged, I was surprised at the villains. A very well written engrossing, enthralling romance which I loved I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own
This book was so good! I enjoyed every bit of the tension and banter that was throughout this story. Throw in a bit of workplace romance, forced proximity, and hidden identity and you have an all-star experience.
As the book is advertised, there is bit of a Bridgerton vibe to the story - giving a bit of Kate and Anthony as well Daphne and Simon feel. You’ll know exactly what I mean when you read the book. 😏🫣🤫
The writing pulls you into the story from the first paragraph. I loved the characters that were highlighted.
I most definitely will be reading book 1 in this interconnected, standalone series to see the other side of the story. 💜💜
Thank you NetGalley, Entangled Publishing, and Maddison Michaels for allowing me to review this ARC!!
I love this series! What is better than a well-done masquerade?
This happens over the same time period as book 1. Two cousins - the wealthy pampered Heiress and her illegitimate orphan companion - switch places (per request of the Heiress heroine of this story of course). I really enjoyed the first book, and this one was just as good. I would recommend both, and they may be read in either order.
Aimee was a very stubborn and determined woman. She inherited many of her parents' positive traits but didn't mind bucking society's rules. She loved numbers and wanted to be her father's business heir.
Harrison was an orphan and didn't have the same monetary benefits growing up that Aimee did, but he was just as stubborn and determined. He dedicated his life to work and achieving his business goals.
These two were similar enough to butt heads but also sharpen each other. I liked both of them individually and their dynamic together.
I look forward to the next in the series. The writing is consistently good, and I definitely plan to read more.
4.5 Stars! I really liked this book! This is the second book in the ‘Dollar Princess’ series and can be read on its own. I enjoyed book one but enjoyed this book more, since the main male character in this book wasn’t so much of a ‘Richard’ as the main male from book 1! The main characters in this book are Aimee and Harrison, & while I liked both of them, at times I could’ve just slapped some sense into both of them! This book has a mix of mystery, ‘sexy times’, frenemies to lovers, witty banter, some pent up sexual frustration arguing, whodunnit, with a headstrong business minded female main character and a love-scared male main character, good old ‘Merican guns & threats of shooting, surprises, twists and turns, ‘he loves me he loves me not’ back & forth, with a ‘bad guy’ you won’t see coming, murder, all that and than some, and of course, a HEA ending. Totally worth reading if you ask me! *I received this book at no charge & I voluntarily left this review.*
First, I want to say that I could not put this book down. It was immediately captivating. Loved Aimee, who is an intelligent, strong willed American woman set to defy typical societal norms and hopes to one day run her father’s company. And don’t get me started on the 6’3 hunky Harrison. He is the charming, confident, strong but obstinate protégé running Aimee’s father’s company in London.
The sharp wit and banter between Harrison and Aimee was perfect. The chemistry of the characters was palpable. Through all the bickering and arguing you can sense the sexual tension and desire they have for one another.
This is a great historical, enemies to lovers trope with a dash of spice and mystery. Highly recommend!
Thank you Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for the opportunity to read an electronic copy of “The Heiress Masquerade” by Madison Michaels.
Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the arc of "The Heiress Masquerade" by Maddison Michaels.
What a gem! A heroine with feminist views, amazing spice, and a mystery? What else could you want?! Couldn't put it down! Also I loved the balance between spice and plot, very well done. Great plot as well and very lovable main characters.
The Heiress Masquerade by Maddison Michaels is the second book of her Dollar Princess Series and OMG, how much I loved it!
So in the first book, we got to experience the love story of Evie and Alex... now it's Aimee turn!
Well, Aimee and Evie switched places. Evie has to attend balls and pretend to be Aimee - the heiress, while Aimee pretends to be her cousin. All she wants is to work with her father at his company. So what could be better than learning all about as a secretary trainee? Well, everything could have been so easy... but Aimee never expected Harrison Stone (the right hand of her father) to be so handsome, but oh, so annoying too. If that doesn't cause any problems...
I was sooooo excited and happy to get to know the other side of the swap with Aimee and Harrison! Oh my, these two! They're definitely like cat and dog. There's an instant dislike between them when they first meet... and awwwww! It's soooo good! I definitely felt the chemistry! Oh my... they've this really special kind of EXPLOSIVE CHEMISTRY! Awwwww! Even while I'm writing this review, I'll get GOOSEBUMPS! I loved the way they annoyed each other, how there was a special kind of attraction... 🤭😊🥰🥵 Aimee Thornton-Jones is a wealthy heiress and absolutely not shy. A strong and self-confident young woman who knows what she wants and how to get it. I absolutely enjoyed their banter and that Harrison didn't give in small! He's also self-confident and kinda stubborn. And... Do you know what happens when two stubborn people have to deal with each other?! YES! SPARKS FLY! Well, in this book, it's like that. 😊🌟😁
The storyline was so good, and next to lots of sizzling chemistry and humours interactions, there was also a good portion of suspense! Oh my! So many surprises I didn't see coming! I loved it! 😍
All in all: The Heiress Masquerade was a perfect continuation of this really good series. I enjoyed both stories and would highly recommend them to anyone who loves historical romance with sexy times, banter, drama, and suspense.
Thank you so much to Maddison Michaels and Entangled Publishing for this ARC via NetGalley. This is my honest review in my own words.
Absolutely lovely read! I loved the first book (which is a companion to this book) and so I was excited to read this book about Aimee and Harrison. They are the epitome of enemies to lovers. From the moment they meet they butt heads. Of course the growing attraction between them is not so subtle and can’t be ignored.
Aimee really has a wake up call when she switches with her cousin Evie and takes on the role of trainee secretary so she can learn about her father’s company and prove to her father she has what it takes to be in the business profession. Aimee’s privilege does show (I totally get the whole sharing bath water ick) but I love how she is willing to put in the hard work and has a strong determination to prove herself. Harrison is a bit grumpy and doesn’t really have time to deal with his feelings toward her but finds the time anyways. They equally work together and fight but are actually really solid couple.
I really enjoyed the resolution to the conflict and the ending to super cute. Definitely excited for the next read which I assume is about Sam. I’m loving this series so far!
*Received via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*
I love a good historical romance and this book did not disappoint. The sparks immediately fly between Aimee and Harrison, and so do the flames.
Aimee wants to learn her father's business and her parents want her to live a life of luxury and become the next "Dollar Princess" and trade her heiress money for title, and promptly ship her to London for the Season. Harrison was taken in by Aimee's father and has been groomed to take on the company, the position Aimee covets.
Harrison and Aimee have a chance meeting in a back alley when he "rescues her" from an assailant (though I know my girl could have handled herself) right after Aimee swaps her cousin into her spot in Society so she can work at her father's company. The attraction is instant. Then they learn they will be working together and it's insta-hate for them both. Or is it?
Trouble on the books leads to Harrison and Aimee spending more time together to discover who is trying to sabotage the company stocks. Soon the hate-filled looks turn into stolen kisses and these two are attracted to each other like moths to a flame.
I loved this book. I had so many notes where I was like YES, QUEEN whenever Aimee stood her ground and chased her dreams. Harrison was such a growly, possessive MMC and we love to see it. You'll want to read this one, y'all.
BOOK: THE HEIRESS MASQUERADE AUTHOR: MADDISON MICHAELS PUB DATE: 20 AUGUST 2024 👩🏼❤️💋👨🏼👩🏼❤️💋👨🏼 REVIEW- 4.5 stars Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. 👩🏼❤️💋👨🏼👩🏼❤️💋👨🏼 I loved, loved Aimee! She was an amazing, headstrong, independent woman, and I loved it for her. I liked how she didn't back down when she knew she was right and was perfectly capable of protecting herself. I also admire her grit and strength in going after what she wanted. 👩🏼❤️💋👨🏼👩🏼❤️💋👨🏼 I read the first book in the series, and I definitely prefer this. Aimee and Evie did a switcheroo. And both of them were completely opposite of each other. I liked that the author didn't compare both of them. I loved reading Aimee's book and her struggles. She took up a fake identity just so she could achieve her dream of inheriting her father's company. 👩🏼❤️💋👨🏼👩🏼❤️💋👨🏼 I liked Harrison Stone too. He was a diligent and hardworking person. He was in denial about his emotions, but he deakth with that. His relationship with Aimee was 💯💯. I liked reading their arguments and witty banter. 👩🏼❤️💋👨🏼👩🏼❤️💋👨🏼 This book was a beautiful sensational read. I loved reading it and I'd definitely recommend it. If 👩🏼❤️💋👨🏼👩🏼❤️💋👨🏼
Headstrong Aimee Thornton-Jones has a plan. She intends to switch places with her cousin and companion, Evie, when they spend six weeks in London. Aimee will pretend to be Evie so she can take on a traineeship as a secretary at her father’s London branch of his multi-million dollar shipping company, while Evie takes Aimee’s place enjoying the London season. Aimee hopes by the end of the six weeks she will be able to show her father that she can take on the business when he retires. What she didn’t anticipate was the adonis who helms the London branch, Harrison Stone.
There are absolute sparks when the pair first meet outside of the business. Things get even dicier when they are formally introduced by Harrison’s right hand man, Ben. Aimee doesn’t see any problems with the actual work, but one big problem arises when she learns the rules at her accommodations. So much so, she has to send a telegram to her banker in the US for some extra funds to solve the problem.
As Aimee and Harrison fight with words and kisses, the whole ruse begins to spiral out of control. When Aimee sits in on a huge meeting with the owner of a German company they are wanting to purchase, Aimee’s fluent German comes in handy. Harrison is desperate for the deal to go through, for if he can pull it off he will be given at fifty-one percent share in the London branch. Enough wealth to set up himself and the eventual earldom he will inherit from his uncle.
Michaels had me on the edge of my seat during the first book in this series, The Heiress Swap, which is Evie’s story that runs parallel to Aimee’s. This story was no different as I read the entire thing in one day! The bickering banter between Aimee and Harrison was electric, only commencing due to both of their stubborn natures and their instant, undeniable attraction. Both of them have sworn off marriage for different reasons, but Aimee will only break her vow for a love match. (A match she believes will never happen.) Michaels of course crafted a story so explosive that it left me wondering how the pair would ever make it to their happily ever after. I growled and swore when they would inevitably fight. I cried, a lot by the evidence of my tissue pile, as twist after twist kept taking the story in a new direction. I had faith in Michaels and in the end, the happily ever after was reached in a way I never expected. Both Aimee and Evie found the men of their dreams and I am in awe of two such magnificent stories.
thank you to entangled for reaching out and offering this arc, and to netgalley for providing it! this review is all my own opinions.
firstly? this was delightful. i had no idea it was the second book, but it was enough of a standalone that the prior book isn’t a must read to enjoy this one.
aimee is a thoroughly modern woman for her time, and it’s a fun take on the push for women’s rights. and showing that despite her privilege she was desperate to be respected and taken seriously.
harrison and aimee have the best banter. it’s very fun and the frustration that fuels more feeling is addictive.
there’s a business espionage plot, a dabble into kidnapping, illicit affairs, and scheming paramours.
i’d definitely reccomend this - it’s a refreshing historical read that combines the best of the buccaneers and the vibes of bridgerton with a modern twist.
This is an exciting and interesting story. It has a very wonderful plot. The two main characters are Harrison and Aimee and they light up the pages. Harrison is focused mainly on business and making money. Aimee wants to prove to her father that she is capable of being a part of his business. Their dialogue is fierce and feisty. The author tells a wonderful and entertaining story that readers will absolutely enjoy.
This book is the other half of "The Heiress Swap." I read these two books back-to-back and it was interesting to see how the stories meshed. It would be possible to read this book by itself but it was fun reading both. This is the story of Aimee the American heiress. She trades places with her cousin so that she can get training at her father's company. Running the company was her father's main man Harrison. The two of them began butting heads before Aimee even set foot in the office. The workplace battles were alarming and the romance was sizzling. This was the wildest enemies to lovers story that I've read in quite some time. I couldn't put the book down so I tried to be sneaky and read it at work. Unfortunately, I started tearing up well before I could reach the happy ending. Hopefully no one noticed! I received a free ARC from Entangled and NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.
This book is so good! Aimee, an heiress from America and her cousin who is her companion trade places when Aimee's parents send then to England. Aimee wants to work at her father's company instead of going to parties to find a husband. Harrison, who runs the London branch of the company has no intention of ever falling in love or marrying after losing his parents as a child. From the moment Aimee and Harrison met, there was great chemistry and tension between them throughout the story. There are a lot of plot twists and a fabulous storyline. This is the second book in the series but can be read as a stand-alone.
The sister book to The Heiress Swap and just as wonderful a read. The chemistry between the couple is entertaining, explosive and steamy. She is his perfect match in every sense. The story elements include secrets, enemies to lovers with sabotage and kidnapping and murder to boot. All around engaging and hard to put down. And soon, it will be Sam’s turn to look forward to.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and leaving my review voluntarily.
Just adore these series of swapping heiress and her cousin. I waited impatiently for this sequel to come out, and thanks to #Netgalley for the early reader copy.
Aimee Thornton-Jones is not disappointing. She's an ambitious woman who knows her worth, and strive for it. She has a dream to pursue no matter what, but then comes love. A nicely wrapped story for those who are curious about Evie's cousin, with a thrill of adventure like every romance written by Ms. Michaels. #TheHeiressMasquerade
Thank you so incredibly much to the author and publisher, Entangled Publishing LLC, for sharing an ARC of this book with me on NetGalley!
“She'd prove to her father she had a mind for business and wouldn't let anyone stand in her way, not even a man whose lips had captivated her dreams.”
“He raced after her, vowing that when he caught up with her, he was going to spank her on her damn impulsive ass.”
I needed this book!! It so brought me out of the BRIDGERTON season three slump!! Enemies to lovers, fake identity, forced proximity, constant banter and a tension so thick, it will drive you to madness. It definitely does drive Harrison to madness. Aimee’s such a badass female main character and, from what I remember of Evie, they couldn’t be more different. But they do have some similar traits. And their love interests … nothing to complain about. Harrison in this instant was a lot grumpy and crazy for her and a bit brooding. Traumatic past and feelings that are effected from it. An overwhelming passion for a strange woman who’s constantly vexing him until he won’t be able to stand it anymore. But a good hearted man who would see her dreams fulfilled and her passions completed. This book was fun, entertaining, intriguing, sweet and spicy as heck. And I have to admit that this heiress swap duet made me obsessed with the possibility of more stories like this to come!!!
"You drive me insane with desire, do you know that?"
"We belong to each other, Aimee Thornton-Jones," he murmured, his breath a soft whisper against her earlobe. "And the sooner you accept that, the sooner I can make your body writhe in ecstasy once again as I slowly slide inside you, filling you with my cock and thrusting against your hips, over and over again, until you orgasm harder and longer than you ever have before."
"Death is an inevitability for all of us, and if you don't have the courage to love me, even with the possibility you might one day lose me, you don't deserve my love or my hand in marriage."
This was the second book of this series. I enjoyed the first book and was looking forward to Amiee’s story. This book takes place the same time as first book in this series. Amiee is an American Dollar Heiress and was sent to England to find a titled husband. She switches places with her cousin Evie and instead goes and does a trainee position at Amiee’s father’s business so she can learn all about his business and prove she should run his company instead of her father’s protégé Harrison. The banter between Amiee and Harrison was amazing! And I enjoyed their romance. I liked the mystery and how Amiee and Harrison worked together. Overall very good read! The only thing I had issue with was how slow the beginning was. Took me a bit to get into the book.
When I started reading this historical romance, I kept thinking I had read it before. That was only because I had read the first book in the series, and for reasons that become obvious, they have to start at the same time. From the second chapter on, the two books are very different.
Our heroine is determined to learn her father's business against his wishes. She refuses to be the useless decoration that is expected of her. Our hero is a man who is working his way from nothing to being a very successful businessman. Nothing will get in his way. There are many lessons both our lead characters have to learn before life, which gives them what they need.
I have really loved all of Maddison Michael’s books. She doesn’t have that many (this is only her 8th book) and I have read them all. I did reach out to her at one time asking is she was going to be writing more and she said she was retiring from her day job so she could write full time.
This is late 1800's which I'm not a huge fan of but there are some authors I will read in that era just because they are so good. 😊
So as I said, I am not a huge fan of late 1800’s. Yes there were too many modern things mentioned, but it still seemed to read a bit regency. I just enjoy Maddison’s writing so much I didn’t care. 😊 I loved this couple.
If you don't read book descriptions like me, don't read this next part......
So I don’t read book descriptions anymore and this description is exactly why I don't because the switch would have not been a surprise had I read it. BUT after a bit of reading, I could tell where the story was going. 😊 With that being said, I wish the charade would have gone on a bit longer. I felt he found out a bit too soon.
Like I said, I loved Aimee and Harrison. I loved their like/hate/love relationship. I like that she wanted to be a good businesswoman and not just a rich bitch. Overall a really good read.
This is the second book in the Dollar Princess series, and it follows Aimee, who switched places with her cousin (and the protagonist) in The Heiress Swap, so instead of searching for a titled husband as her mother wishes, she can work at her father's company and prove she has the ability to take over. Like the first book, the characters are layered and interesting, the mystery is intriguing, and the romance is swoon-tastic!
Aimee is ambitious, intelligent, and strong-willed - the perfect complement to Harrison. Determined to take over her father's company, she's definitely a woman ahead of her time, and through her story we see the gender biases and lack of options many women had at the time. Bold and opinionated with an acerbic humor and a sharp wit, she is nothing like the shy and reserved woman Harrison, the man slated to take over her father's role and her nemesis, expected, especially with her business savvy and strong grasp of languages. And I loved Harrison! He's a layered and interesting character too, and I became really invested in his story.
Something I always enjoy in Maddison Michaels's romances is the exceptional banter. Aimee and Harrison have an incredible amount of chemistry, and the banter between them is antagonistic and funny and filled with sexual tension. Through all their bickering and arguing, you can see how attracted they are to each other. So do the sexy times! I definitely needed a fan for this one! lol Watching these two fall in love as they work together and try to figure out who's threatening her father's company is super swoon-worthy.
If you liked The Heiress Swap, you'll definitely enjoy The Heiress Masquerade. It's fun and sexy, and I can't wait to read the next book in the series! Special thanks to Entangled Publishing for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.
ARC Review of The Heiress Masquerade by Maddison Michaels * * * * * A thrilling and steamy historical romance featuring an independant woman with a crazy plan, and her new grumpy boss.
Aimee wanted nothing more than to assist in the faily business. However, in her father's eyes, it was all ballrooms not boardrooms for her. So when her mother desires her to marry off to someone with a title and be the next Dollar Princess in booming London, Aimee hatches the plan to switch places with her cousin Evie. While Evie is sipping tea with high society, Aimee is working in her father's company under the order of Harrison. Harrison who feels like this 'Evie' is not all that she appears. Not matter though. Someone is trying to affect the business. Changing the numbers. Messing up an important deal. Hiring deadly hands to do the work for them. Aimee and Harrison side by side keep digging, while keeping secrets of their own.
Fantastic read! Aimee is a crazy independant woman, quite the feminist, and quick to pull out her little fire arm. She's not going to let anyone push her around for anything, and just loves to press Harrison's buttons. Harrison does not wish to fall in love after a great loss already, but Aimee/Evie constantly occupies his mind and what was banter and poking turns into passion. Danger escalates and so does the stakes to their relationship, making decisions neither of them planned. Loved their chemistry and how yelling can just turn into flirting. I am now convinced to go and read the first book. There is no way I don't want to know Evie's events that were hinted in this read.
Hot arguments, prickly banters, and sparks flying every darn chapter! Gotta love this.
I am told the book one is better than this, and I can not imagine that because I have not read it, but I love this book. Aimee and Harrison are a constant contrary joy to read about, their banter ridiculously flirty and fiiiine. Perfect enemies to lovers where everyone is frustrated enough to pull the other one in kisses. And more. Harrison is the down to business kinda Earl in waiting (lol loved that word). Handsome, driven but scared of losing a loved one. He is going to get his majority in the company in Egland side , owned by none other than Aimee’s father in America. Precisely for the reason, even without seeing him ever, Aimee hates the man who is like a son to her father. But she wants to help run the company, and nothing will stop her. So out, she goes to london and switches places with her cousin to learn about business in the London office. Right where Harrison is the boss.
Oooh, the sparksss :)
Add in Derringers, telegram takers, other secretaries, a German businessman, some caveman stuff, even a kidnapping, and it's a hell of an entertaining ride. Certainly going back to read book 1 and wait on Sam's story. I hope that's book 😁
Thank you, Entangled and Netgalley, for thus great read!

Wow! I absolutely loved this book. Amazing characters and wonderful plot. Very beautifully written and easy to read.
Aimee Thornton-Jones is a New York heiress. She doesn’t want to be another “dollar princess“ like her mother wants. To ship her off to England to marry some lord. She begs her cousin to swap places with her. Aimee will work as a trainee at her father’s company and prove to everyone that she is better than any son.
Harrison Stone doesn’t know what to make of Aimee. She’s hiding something and she is reckless. He wants to fire her and kiss her. Dangerous combination. With the company under threat of sabotage, he is determined to find out who she is. I loved their chemistry and passion. They were made for each other.
Overall I loved this book very much. If you’re looking for a historical, workplace romance then you’re going to love it.
