Book review for accepting Agatha by @missvictoriablu I got a copy of this book of BookFunnel and I really didn’t know what the story about was about when I choose to read this book I just like the flower on the cover and the title of the book. So this is a story about two people that had to come together due to the facts that his boss and her sister were getting marry in LAS Vegas aka party city and a place where nobody sleeps. So at first I thought they were going to get a divorced because they were in Vegas and you know the saying what happen in Vegas stay in Vegas but this time didn’t count because they woke up marry she was freaking out and I would do if I were in her shoes after waking up in a bed with a stranger. So they leave Vegas and head home now they both come from a family that have a lot of view on any matter of both of their life’s so she didn’t want to tell anybody what happened but at the end I think only his boss and her sister and his sister knew what happened. This pilot in the book was an great read because it was truly a love story waiting to happen till the very end of the book like you didn’t know where this was going because of everything that happened in the book. I don’t want to say that much without giving certain things away. I would recommend this book I give a 5 star reviews.

I was generously gifted this book in exchange for my honest review. This was my first book that I've read by Victoria Blue, but I can tell you that it won't be the last. I am a sucker for a good love story, but I go crazy for a love story that has complex characters, and this book definitely supplied that! I've read other books that have done the drunken night in Vegas turns into becoming married, but most have turned into a romantic comedy or a marriage that was planned and orchestrated by one of the main characters (9 times out of 10 times the MMC). But this definitely wasn't a romantic comedy, nor would I place it in the dark romance category. This was such a complex contemporary romance. Normally, in most stories, it's the female main character that. is the more emotionally mature and stable one, but in this book, that was the complete opposite. Agatha was a bit of a hot mess, but Carmen was so patient with her and was so invested in her and wanting to make their marriage work and trying to help Agatha in multiple ways. I was so invested in their relationship and their dynamic and was practically enthralled from start to finish with them!! I cannot wait to read what comes in the next book, Mentoring Maye. Thank you so much Page and Vine books, Luv Books Club, and Victoria Blue for sending me this incredible book to read before its official release date!

Wow this book had so many emotions going through me. When I first started it I was so mad with the main characters. They were driving me crazy with their behaviors but the more you delved into the story it started to make sense.
Poor Agatha struggles with a lot more than you see at first and Carmen brings out the best in her. They actually bring out the best in each other and I love watching their love bloom. I need more of their story.

What happens when polar opposites get drunkenly hitched in Vegas? Carmen is a straight-laced Catholic with his life very by-the-book. Agatha is impulsive, living vivaciously and uncommitted; with nights filled with drinking and hook-ups she's struggling to keep her professional life together.

Individually each character was okay, I found Agatha to be a likeable underdog in her storyline. Once they come together I thought Carmen was intolerable and Agatha was a pushover. They each have back stories that explain some of their behaviors. They're polar opposites and the relationship is just fighting and sex.

The story held my attention, was easy to read, and I needed to see what happened. However Carmen's character left an icky feeling I'm not sure I'll continue with this series. My biggest issue with this story was: at no point was I ever rooting for this couple to stay together.

Thank you to LuvBooks and Waterhouse Press for an advanced copy. I'm leaving an honest review voluntarily.

Tropes:

♡ Accidental marriage
♡ Friends to lovers
♡ He falls first (and HARD)
♡ Forced proximity
♡ Opposites attract

Saying that Agatha and Carmen are complete opposites is honestly an understatement, but in a way they were such a perfect fit. Isn’t that what you say that opposites attract? That’s certainly the case with these two. I love a good drunken marriage in Vegas romance but this one was so different from anything I had read before in that genre and totally not in a bad way at all.

In most romances where the main characters end up marriage after a wild night in Vegas, they want to get it annulled by somehow end up staying together but this is not the case with Accepting Agatha. Carmen and Agatha are attending the wedding of her big sister and his boss in Las Vegas and just had the wildest night ever. The morning after they wake up in the same bed not only together but also married with two green rubber rings on their ring fingers. Agatha immediately wants to get an annulment but Carmen doesn’t. He’s raised catholic and therefore don’t want to get a divorce/annulment and he’s also head over heels with Agatha so he wants to give their marriage a chance. Therefore Carmen asks Agatha to give him a year to see if this marriage is sustainable and something that could turn into the real deal.

Even though they were complete opposites when it comes to their way of thinking and their personalities, they still somehow balanced each other out so well. Agatha is what you could call a a hot mess 99% of the time, she’s very impulsive and emotional where Carmen is stable and secure in himself and what he wants. Agatha also just lost her job and moving in with Carmen and being a new space is kinda hard for her. Carmen is very protective and wants the best for her and that is one of the ways I think he balances her out so well. But Agatha is also a free spirited person so she contributes to Carmen with that and learns him how to be more laid back and relaxed.

Overall I loved this book so much because we got a ton of character development and such a solid and sweet love story about how love can form after marriage, which is very controversial in real life but not in books if you ask me! I can’t wait for Mentoring Maye next!

Accepting Agatha, book one of the new series Bombshells of Brentwood, by Victoria Blue-
Rating: 3 ⭐️

This is the first book I’ve read by Victoria Blue. It is a contemporary romance that focuses on Carmen and Agatha, who wake up and find themselves married after a night out in Vegas.

The plot and storyline were decent but it is a story I’m familiar with. (Married in Vegas after a drunken night out.) Carmen works for Agatha’s sisters husband. While in Vegas for her sisters wedding, they find themselves married as well. Rather than get an annulment, they decide to move in together and give the marriage a year…

What makes this story interesting is the dynamic between Carmen and Agatha. Honestly, she’s a hot mess. I didn’t feel very drawn to her character. She was all over the place and not very emotionally stable or mature. She had volatile outbursts, often, pouted like a petulant child and wasn’t very responsible. Carmen, on the other hand, was a saint in comparison. He was very emotionally evolved and exercised extreme control, restraint and patience when dealing with Agatha. He was responsible and carried himself with dignity. Maybe he liked “fixing” Agatha? She was a challenge? Or maybe it was that he was extremely attracted her and they had great sex. (There are some really steamy scenes within these pages.) Carmen’s demeanor seemed to have a grounding effect on Agatha and they made it work.

The end was pretty anticlimactic. Agatha seemed to have decided to try harder and open up emotionally to Carmen and he was more than pleased with that, both found they were falling for the other, despite their chaotic start in marriage.

Three stars because while I found this book to be a bit boring, it was still written decently and it isn’t a bad book by any means. It just wasn’t exciting enough, or plot heavy enough for me.

Thank you to LuvBooks for sending me the paperback in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to Luv Books Club and Waterhouse Press for providing me with a physical arc.

This is truly more of a rant than a review as it is mainly negative but I want to share just incase someone may feel the same way.

I love anything with accidental marriage or marriage of convenience but I had a lot of issues with this book which I will be getting into. This book could have been great and I didn’t have issues with the writing style, if anything I liked it but the storyline had a lot of issues. This is a book based around the couple getting drunk and married accidentally in Vegas and then trying to make it work after that.

My issues lie with Carmen, the love interest. He constantly doesn’t believe Agatha when she says things, he accuses her of things and argues with her and forces her to do things. There is a scene where he accuses her of being alcoholic when we see her drink probably a total of 3 times during the book and she doesn’t in her inner monologue have a need to drink and realizes she has been using it badly but changes her actions before he even accuses her of this. He forces her to go to church when she still doesn’t really want this relationship, and forces her to meet his parents. He belittles her repeatedly for being sorta messy when that is how she is, and other small things. He has so many red flags and doesn’t seem to want an actual healthy relationship, just a marriage. They would fight, not talk about it and then have make up sex which is insane. Agatha is a flawed character but she deserves better than Carmen who doesn’t support her in finding a new job, or helping her improve her life.

I did like Agatha but she didn’t have a lot of character growth in this book and truly 2 stars is generous. I wish we got to see her work on her life by getting a job, getting her own place, gaining friends as she really doesn’t have any in this book. Agatha isn’t in a place to be in a relationship and especially not a marriage. The other big point is these characters are acquaintances at best when they accidentally get married, but they don’t take the time to get to know each other and the MMC thinks they can just jump into a marriage without a prior relationship.

I personally can’t recommend this book as I do think the relationship is really toxic and not in a way that was even fun to read about. The more and more I thought about this book the more issues I found with it.

This book was not for me. I have a lot of thoughts, but to keep this short, Carmen is probably the most toxic MMC I've ever read. The entire relationship between Carmen and Agatha is extraordinarily unhealthy. Agatha has some things to figure out but deserves someone actually compassionate.

I hate Carmen. I think he’s annoying and judgey and manipulative. Agatha has her issues, but honestly I think she is way more loveable than Carmen. This book was well written but I just couldn’t get behind the characters. There was something about this relationship that didn’t work for me. Carmen didn’t actually listen to Agatha. There were so many times when she was basically screaming for help or she would open up to him and he would just ignore it and change the subject. And then he had the audacity to get mad when she didn’t want to share with him.

Agatha was immature and definitely had issues, but I think she was someone so many people could relate to. I think her issues were understandable. I wish the book went more into her history and gave more context as to why she was the way she was. I think she deserved more of an explanation instead of coming off as a brat.

Overall, I think I just needed more from this book. The ending was abrupt and the characters never really fully developed.

I’ll never get tired of the, whoops we accidentally drank too much and got married in Vegas trope so that’s literally all I knew about this one before I started it. Agatha and Carmen both decide they’ll give it a year before throwing in the towel even though they’re total opposites and their dynamic together was really fun. She is messy, free spirited and a firecracker and he’s more grounded and rational. With such opposing qualities it was cute to see what they brought out in each other as the book went on and their development both individually and in their relationship was well done. If you like forced proximity, friends to lovers, he falls first and accidental marriage this was really fun.

The first book in the Bombshells of Brentwood series by Victoria Blue and Accepting Agatha is another one of those books about why sobriety tests should be a prerequisite at Las Vegas wedding chapels before couples are allowed to tie the knot…... but then I suppose where would be the fun in that. After waking up married, for some reason the groom Carmen persuades the reluctant bride Agatha into giving their marriage a go even though they hadn’t even been in a relationship before, and Agatha seems to agree for convenience more than anything else. I just couldn’t take to the heroine in this book. To begin with the name Agatha conjures up images of a Victorian middle-aged spinster. Agatha here was a stroppy, borderline alcoholic and generally not very likeable, basically she was a car crash waiting to happen while Carmen came across as being a bit superior in his attitude towards her and I just couldn’t feel any sense of connection between them and I can’t help but think that the only reason he wanted to stay married to Agatha was a healthy fear of telling his catholic mother her baby boy was going to be a divorcee. For me the bombshell has been more of a damp squib, and I don’t think I’ll be reading the rest of this series.

*Thank you to Waterhouse, Victoria Blue, and Page and Vine for sending me this ARC. All opinions and criticisms are my own.

3⭐️/ 2🌶️

Now, I love me a good marriage of convenience, or even an accidental marriage. When I read the synopsis for this book, I was curious to see how Agatha and Carmen’s story would unfold.

While the premise of this book caught my eye, unfortunately I did have some issues with it right from the beginning. Normally, when it comes to accidental marriages, there’s a period where the characters are trying to figure out how to go about their situation of being married, and just figuring things out. With Agatha and Carmen, it was like they immediately went from, “omg we got married?!”, to Agatha snapping at Carmen, then Carmen kissing Agatha to Agatha and Carmen just feeling lust for each other. Ideally, I would have wanted to see a slow build if not have a bit more time for the romance portion to build before Agatha and Carmen got steamy. In a way, it felt like Agatha and Carmen’s relationship was rushed, when I feel like had there been more time to build upon it, the romance would have been better.

Yeah, no, Agatha and Carmen literally had no connection whatsoever. If you like the insta lust trope, then maybe you’ll like this book, but even then this book had no chemistry between the characters. Most of the time, it was constant arguing from Agatha’s side and then Carmen seemingly getting turned on by wanting to have Agatha. If I had to summarize this book, it would be just constant back and forth of arguing, not fleshing out the characters personalities, lack of backstories, and still a bunch of unanswered questions. I also didn’t like how Agatha’s drinking problem was glossed over. Even though Agatha was adamant on not having a drinking problem, the fact that she relied on drinking to numb her feelings or help her get by through certain situations wasn’t healthy by any means.

Overall, I’m actually disappointed with the way this story ended up being. I bring this up as criticism, not to be mean. There were many things that could have been done differently that would have made this story a lot enjoyable and interesting. If there was more build up to the romance, I think the chemistry would have translated better as well as potentially showing Agatha and Carmen falling in love with each other. There was things that weren’t expanded upon from Agatha’s backstory to her drinking problem, and even the deep rooted issues she had with her family, and especially what she wrote in her journal that was apparently secretive. I didn’t like the characters, there wasn’t much to enjoy and the characters were frustrating.

I have so many feelings about this one. I was on board immediately with the first chapter... then it started to lose me. And then the ending was wild AF to me. I am so confused. I checked my page count to see if I was missing pages... Nothing was resolved. Nothing. It was so odd to me. I was cheering for these characters so hard at one point and then feel a weeeee bit cheated with the ending. I'm so sad about thissssss.

I was sent this book as a gift but the opinions are my own <3

When I was told that these books were happening I got so excited. Learning that they were about another characters sisters meant for me that the storyline was going to continue for the sharks edge series. In Elijah‘s books in the series, he meets Hannah and her family. Hannah has a bunch of sisters and that’s where this book comes from. Agatha is Hannah‘s sister closest in age. And because of how they were raised, and the things that happened within the family unit, she suffers from severe anxiety attacks and tries to medicate with alcohol.
When Elijah and Hannah go to Vegas to get married, Carmen - Elijah‘s personal assistant - and Agatha - Hannah sister - go along for the wedding. After parting a little too hard at the reception, they find themselves the next morning, married to each other.

Because Carmen comes from a religious family, and because he’s attracted to Agatha, he wants to stay married and try to give us a shot. Through a series of circumstances, Agatha moves in with Carmen and they tries to make their marriage work. But because of her anxiety and drinking issues, there’s a lot for them to overcome to make it work.

I really enjoyed reading this book because it shows a characters, emotional depth and struggles when facing such issues as anxiety and alcoholism. It also shows the struggle it takes for two people to work on a marriage when they find themselves attached to each other. I can see this happening in any marriage though, and the growth between these two was amazing to read about. For my personal pleasure, I would’ve liked to see more character depth towards the end of the book. I just felt like maybe it needed a couple more chapters to leave us in a more satisfying place. But overall I loved and enjoyed the book so much, and would highly recommend it to others! It’s a definite five star read for me! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Agatha and Carmen wake up together, apparently married, after spending several days partying in Vegas celebrating Agatha’s sister and Carmen’s boss’s wedding. Agatha is a sweet, chaotic girl and Carmen is an incredibly organized, caring guy. Carmen wants to see if they can make it work whereas Agatha wants it annulled. He asks for a year together to see if it will work, Agatha is not willing until he helps her pack some of her stuff to move in with him. He finds her journal with her most secret feelings, thoughts, etc..and decides to hold it hostage until she agrees. She doesn’t trust anyone because she has been repeatedly hurt and Carmen is using it as a tool to teach her that she can trust him. There is some major chemistry between them and they both are confused because that’s the only thing that they have going. Will they make it the full year without catching feelings for each other or Agatha going back home to her parents house? Victoria has done a great job with this story. I liked how the characters kind of balanced out the other’s temperament, quirks, etc. Thanks for the great book Victoria Blue! Looking forward to your next one!

Agatha Farsey
Carmen Sandoval

Accepting Agatha, is an extension to Victoria Blue's, Sharks Edge series. However, you do not have to have read those books, to understand this one.

In one week long trip to Las Vegas, to celebrate Agatha's sisters wedding, she and Carmen meet, and seem to have hit it off...to the point that at the end of the week, they were married, as well. But, it was because they got stinking drunk...but also, Carmen wants to give this marriage a go. The difficult thing though, Agatha fought him for her freedom.

Agatha, needs some grounding in her life, and Carmen Sandoval, is just the man to step up to the proverbial plate, and ground her.

This was an excellent book. As a first book in the "Bombshells of Brentwood" series, I highly recommend it. I'm looking forward to finding out who the next "Bombshell" will be.

Thank You Victoria, for allowing me the extreme privilege of reading an advance readers copy.

I give this book, along with the author 5 stars.

I was so excited to start this book! Victoria Blue is one of my favorite authors, and so I dove right into this one. I also love that it's a spin-off from Shark's Edge series.
Agatha may come off as standoffish and that she doesn't care because she doesn't express her feelings the way normal people do. There is so much more to her than meets the eye. Cameron is good for her he doesn't let her hide away. They really try and work at it. That's what makes it so real. They have ups and downs, and they fight like a normal couple. It's not all smooth sailing.

I can't wait for maye story!!

This book is filled with emotions, not just the love the grows in the couple Agatha and Carmen, but with more delicate issues that a lot of people have to deal with which is anxiety, I honestly identified myself with a lot of Agatha’s issues and I loved Carmen for trying so hard to get to know her and break those anxiety spells that we all know it’s not something simple. I liked the storyline in how it slowly developed but I honestly felt there were a lot of loose ends that were left just hanging for me, a few more chapters I think or another book is needed for them.
I loved the ending in a way but in another way it just didn’t feel like it was the end.

This book was a journey lol. The characters had zero chemistry, and I didn’t understand them at all? It was insta lust but also “wait…what am I feeling?” This book also jumped right into the plot with no introduction, it felt like I fell into the middle of the book. I didn’t like either of the characters which made it that much more difficult to get through.

Idk, this book just wasn’t my cup of tea.

A drunken night in Las Vegas leads to an unexpected marriage in Accepting Agatha, Victoria Blue's first in the Bombshells of Brentwood series. Falling in love after marriage is unorthodox but not impossible as Agatha and Carmen find themselves caught in between lust and love while learning lessons about self-acceptance, love, and understanding.

Agatha is a unique and special woman but has always felt like an outsider. She tries her best to prove her worth and is continuously left disappointed. So, when she wakes up with a wedding ring on her finger the night after her sister's wedding, she is losing her marbles. But it doesn't hurt that her new husband, Carmen, is the smoking hot assistant to her new brother-in-law.

Carmen is the complete opposite of Agatha. He is organized needs everything planned and doesn't normally make spontaneous decisions. And although he knows this marriage was built on a whim, he can't help but want to make it work.

They have an undeniable blaze of chemistry, but is that enough? Carmen surprisingly puts it out there that he wants to try and make it work. At least give it a real try for a year. He may have resorted to a tricky tactic to get Agatha to agree but all is fair in love and war. What they discover along the way is how to express their feelings, listen and have patience, adapt and compromise, and above all else hold on when the other pushes away out of fear.

I enjoyed this romance because normally when you read about a quick marriage in Vegas, the couple, at least most of the time, is trying to get it annulled as quickly as possible. While Agatha may have been thinking about it she trusted Carmen enough to give him time to prove her wrong.

When I read the summary of this book, I was interested to find out more about the characters. Sadly this book was not it for me. I was getting into the book but then it started to get confusing. For the first book in a series, I was confused why there wasn’t a proper introduction to the characters. The story went straight to the main conflict and it felt as though I should know what was happening in the story. The plot was good but I think it should have properly been introduced to the story or the characters should be. The book is told from both Agatha and Carmen’s story.

Agatha is struggling professionally and drinking all the time. I liked her character but I realized she I didn’t truly know who she was but what Carmen thought of her. I wish there was more to her character as there was no development for her. Then there is Carmen. At first, I found him charming but then quickly, I realized he was manipulative and just wanted a wife. He showed a lot of red flags in his character. There weren’t any main side characters but there were some minor side characters. The whole solely focused on Agatha and Carmen. The romance is an accidental marriage with some steam scenes. I didn’t enjoy the relationship as the characters are complete opposites which means they would often fight and then have make-up sex.

The ending I didn’t care for as I was just hoping to finish the story. Sadly it was not what I was expecting it to be and had huge potential for this story. I know some might enjoy this book but for me it just wasn’t it.

Accepting Agatha by Victoria Blue is book one in the Bombshells of Brentwood. This is the first book I’m reading by this author but when I read the book blurb I was instantly interested! This was definitely an opposite attracted book and I do love a good story centering on that trope. I read the book in about a day, and I enjoyed the tone of the story. This was for me a well done Contemporary romance that has complex characters and emotions. It’s the aftermath of having a black out night in Vegas and waking up married. I enjoyed the writing and how the plot progressed. I loved reading the growth of the characters and the growth of their relationship. This book definitely took my emotions on a ride. Both Agatha and Carmen had such relatable personalities; it was easy to imagine their situation. I want to say more but I don’t want to spoil anything! I honestly loved how they balanced one another and their dynamic as a whole. Some of the tropes that are in this book are opposite attractions, accidental marriage and forced proximity to name a few. This overall is such a solid love story. The writing of the book was well done and very believable. I could imagine everything as I was reading. (I love when a book can do that) I can’t wait to read more from this author and to read the next book in the series. (When it releases… I have a bit to wait!) I wholeheartedly recommend this book!

The Shark's Edge world lives on in a beautiful new way in this really cool new series from Victoria Blue. I was so freakinnggg excittteeeddd to learn that all of Hannah's sister are going to get their own books; even more so when Agatha was announced as the first heroine of the Bombshells of Brentwood!
Agatha Farsay and Carmen Sandoval are set up in earlier books; notably the last 3 books of the Shark's Edge series--but if you're jumping in here, you're going to catch on super fast that this duo is going to light each other (and possibly the whole city of LA) on fire. (I mean...WOW...seriously, y'all...)
But the passion is just square one of the journey these two must take to understand, and eventually accept, each other. This book was really moving to me because it shows that love is sometimes not always a primrose-lined path. It's a journey that's filled with patience, communication--and yes, most of all, learning to accept oneself before being able to be complete for another.
Deep lessons indeed--and so beautifully conveyed by Ms. Blue up to the very last second of this book. I'm excitedly waiting for more.

What would you do if you woke up and discovered you'd gotten married after a wild night of partying?

Agatha Farsay is no stranger to wild nights, will she ever slow down? One wild night in Vegas will change her life forever. Maybe it's time she finally deals with her problems?

Carmen Sandoval never imagined he'd be returning for a wedding with a wife. What will happen when he decides to give this a real shot? Can he convince Agatha they may have a chance at something?

Love when I get book mail!!! Thanks to LuvBooks for sending me Accepting Agatha by Victoria Blue in exchange for my honest review! I enjoyed this book! One of the main characters, Agatha, has some demons she has been struggling with. Feeling like an invisible member... she was drinking way too often to avoid them. The other main character, Carmen Sandoval is a pretty stand-up guy. He’s been hurt in the past and has vowed to never again. After a wild night in Vegas with a bombshell, he has found himself a wife?! Marriage wasn’t in the cards for either one of them, but Carmen’s determined to make it work. Agatha also becomes attracted to Carmen in a way. They see the potential of making their marriage work. However, can they get past his family judgment, new-couple struggles, and all her insecurities? I would recommend if you like romances and some steam! Cannot wait to read Victoria's next book! 😍😍😍

Accepting Agatha follows the story of Carmen and Agatha and how they "accidentally" marry one another after her sister wedding... in Vegas...on a drunker bender...and when they awake up they don't remember... HERE WE GO!
Has this you convinced to read this yet? HOLD ON THERES MORE!

Carmen is the sweet, sunshine, MMC who convinces Agatha to take a chance on making the marriage work for at least a year because he isn't a guy who just give up on things.

Agatha is our grumpy, plays by her own rules and is the definition of chaos.

Can you really marry a stranger and make it work? Or will it burn to the ground as fast as it began? Especially with the demons that follow you from the past?
Guess you'll have to read and find out!

Tropes:
