Ciara is on her way to the city of Respite to compete in the Nine Kingdoms Tournament. It's an opportunity to grow her Faith and her power, not to mention take home some huge prizes. That is, if she can get through the terrifyingly strong disciples in the tournament, including a certain evil prince with a murderous grudge against Ciara and her whole Faith.

Beating the powerful disciples and making it through to the final rounds is challenge enough, but everything is not as it seems in Respite. Murder, intrigue, and plots that span the continent await as the Nine Kingdoms Tournament begins. Ciara and the other members of the Hundred Gods Faith will have to grow stronger, be sneakier, and rely on each other to survive.

Daniel McKay lives in New Zealand where he spends his time writing, teaching philosophy, and playing cards. He writes the Philosophical Detective series, which combines his love for philosophy with his love for sarcasm, and the Pantheon series, which combines his love for interesting magic powers with his love for awesome fight scenes.

He can be reached at danielmckayauthor@gmail.com. Or you could try shining a Dan-Signal in the sky on a cloudy night. No guarantees that one will work though.

P.S. The Augmentamancer Chronicles books are currently out of print on account of them being a bit amateurish but I am working my way back through them with a metaphorical red pen and they are slowly being rereleased. Books 1, 2, and 3 are back and the second editions have brand new (way cooler) cover art.

Great read

This is an engaging continuation of the series. The characters continue to develop. Their flaws are plausible rather than just plot devices. The overall storyline is still introducing surprises.
