I liked how these two found their way back to each other. Obviously, there is a massive age gap between the two and he was at first against seeing her any differently since her father was his best friend, but their chemistry and feelings were too strong to ignore.
I kind of wish he was a little bit younger because it just seems sad that he will not be around when she is in her 50's.

I would like to start by saying that it's a me problem. 🥲 I was uncomfortable for the most part of the book and I was tempted to DNF although this is just a short read.
For the life of me, I can't accept the age gap here 😭 Jack (53) is Ruby's (22) father's best friend. Her father and Jack were buddies in the SEAL. He saw her parents got married, got pregnant with Ruby, and everything that happened to her life until her father's death. When her father died when she was sixteen, Jack was there in the funeral and for some reason he was feeling so much protectiveness when it comes to Ruby. I don't think he saw her as a kid at sixteen, and this made me cringe because he was already 47 that time. What would a grown up man has to do with a freaking teenager??? Anyway, nothing happened between them (duh she was a minor) but it still didn't sit well with me. 🤷♀️
Then six years later, she saw her neighbor get murdered and she ran away to escape the killer. That's how she ended up in the mountain, she went to the address Jack sent her three years ago. It was so uncomfortable to read, having to be reminded that he's old enough to be her dad. Or how much she's crushing on him since she was a kid. Or how much I'm having secondhand embarrassment from all her flirty attempts to seduce him. Or how he wanted to knock her up so bad on the first time doing it. Or how it seems that he never forgot her all these years, even though he last saw her at the funeral.
Tbf, even though I'm uncomfortable with them, their sexy scenes were hot. Thank God, this doesn't have daddy kink cuz I'm freaking sure I'm going to lose my sanity. I appreciate him throwing all of his alcohol and cigarettes that night Ruby came to his house. He has been drinking, smoking, and cage fighting ever since he got out of SEAL, but he never thought twice about putting Ruby's safety first. Hence, the throwing away of all his vices and stopping going to Cage fights.
Like I said, this is probably a me case. I just can't wrap my head around it. I'm cringing so hard and I really really wanted to like this. 😭 I liked the other books in this series, but this one is the least of my favorite. Although, this didn't work for me other readers might enjoy this one.

I love all the books in this series, but this was one of my favorites. Both of them are mourning the same man, her father, and his best friend, and they were lost until they found comfort and love in each other. This story will pull at your heartstrings, but it also has tons of dirty talk and spice.

Jack has his out in the mountains after losing his best friend and leaving the Navy SEALS . When Ruby arrives at his door he knows she is his purpose and his forever. Sweet, steamy romance with amazing chemistry, a little danger, true love, a kind, caring, protective hero and a beautiful HEA.

This is an amazing book! There is some age gap, Dad’s best friend tropes going on. Ruby’s dad and Jack were SEALs together. After Ruby’s father passed away on a mission, Jack told Ruby that she could always count on him for anything.
Years later, Ruby witnesses a drug dealer killing someone. The drug dealer tries to kill her too but she manages to get away. She knows that he will not stop looking for her. After some thought, Ruby runs to Jack for help. They are attracted to each other but Jack tries his best to resist.
This book was steamy! I loved that about this book. Ruby knows what she wants and will do whatever she needs to do to get it. Jack promises to keep Ruby safe and intends to keep his promise.

August 7, 2023I loved Hiding Out In The Mountains Book 7 of Greene Mountain Boys. Ruby is in trouble, she witnessed a murder and now someone is after her. She only has one option, Jack. Jack doesn’t care about his life. He smokes, he drinks and he fights. When Ruby enters his life it gives him a new meaning in his life, someone to fight for. I loved this storyline and the characters. He’s a fighter, a protector and she’s loved him as long as she can remember. Taking care of her will become his life. I would definitely recommend this book and the series.

My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.
Jack is a 53 year old ex Navy SEAL, he’s a warrior with no war to fight in now. He feels restless and drinks to much, smokes too much, and fights in cage fights to feel anything. As soon as the fights are over he goes back to feeling hollow. He knows he’s wasting his life, his best friend Derek gave his life during a mission so Jack could live. He feels he is wasting the sacrifice Derek made. But he doesn’t know how to stop is endless spiral.
Salvation comes in the form of a beautiful woman who knows and who is in danger.
Ruby has been alone since she was 19, her dad Derek a Navy SEAL, died while on a mission when she was 16 then three years later her mom committed suicide, leaving her alone. Now at 22 she’s working two jobs and a side hustle of making custom stickers. After a long day working she comes home and is witness to the local thug killing a man in her apartment hallway. He sees her and starts walking towards her, she runs inside her apartment and escapes out the back down the fire escape. The next day she sneaks into her apartment but it’s been ransacked and almost all her stuff has been stolen. The thug’s girlfriend comes and gives her money and tells her to disappear or he will find her and kill her.
She knows only one person who could help hide her, her dad’s best friend and fellow SEAL Jack.
After seeing her Jack vows to himself no more drinking, smoking, and fighting. He gets rid of all the liquor in his house and throws out his cigarettes. He listens to Ruby’s story and vows to protect her. Even from himself, because he is not looking at Ruby as his friend’s daughter but as a beautiful woman who he wants. He fights it for a bit but Ruby wears him down and a blow job seals (haha pun intended) the deal. He’s all in after that. Sexy times are hot, she a virgin, no mention of his past.
Trouble comes when she runs into a friend who posts her picture online tagging her location. She’s worried she’s brought trouble to Jack’s door but he’s looking forward to the fight, he want to take care of any threats to her for good.
They bait the bad guy and he comes to Jack’s cabin, Ruby is safely tucked away in a suite at Green Mountain Lodge. Of course there is a run in with the obnoxious twins during check in.
Jack eliminates the bad guy and all his goons, gets a friend to help him bury all the bad guys, no more threat to Ruby.
Epilogue nine months later with him driving Ruby to the hospital while in labor with their daughter. Ten years later with two more kids, boys. Jack makes Ruby a whole craft room where she can make her sticker business grow.
I liked how committed Jack was to Ruby as soon as he saw her. Enjoyed watching him use his skills to take down the bad guys. Ruby was such a sweet character. The age gap was to big for my taste but it worked for them. She gave his spiraling life purpose.

It should just go without saying that anything by OTT is an auto-click purchase. This book was certainly no exception. The characters (Jack & Ruby) were given genuine cares, worries, troubles and emotions. They drew me into the storyline, and while I knew things would work out eventually, it pained me they had to experience so much hurt, heartache and grief to reach their happiness.
OTT drew me into the plot of this book from the first page. As events escalated, my investment in the characters increased too, and I couldn't wait to find out how Jack would fare in resolving the final conflict. This was a wonderful book - maybe even my favorite in this series! (It's so hard to pick ONE when they're all so stellar.)
I most definately recommend this book, and the rest of the series (ALL OTT books actually). With age-gap and father's best friend tropes, it is sure to be a favorite among romance readers! adventurous and cute
This started off so much differently then the others and I absolutely loved it!

Another short, fun and steamy read set in the Greene Mountains from the queen of OTT. This time we have an age-gap forbidden romance with lots of drama and excitement, steam and swoon, endings and new beginnings. I enjoyed my fun and relaxing afternoon escape into the world of Jack and Ruby.

Ruby is by far one of my favorite characters you ever wrote. I love Jack for her, and their story was so incredible. Kept me going from page one. Olivia always delivers with her Green Mountain Boys series.

Story: Ruby (h22) is in serious trouble and runs to the only person she can think of who’ll protect her, Jack (H53), the ex-Navy SEAL who served alongside her late father. When Ruby shows up, Jack realizes that he’s found a new meaning in his life, someone to fill the void he’d been trying to fill with alcohol, smoking, and cage-fighting. He struggles to fight his growing attraction for his best friend’s daughter, btu things heat up between the two and anyone who wants to come after Ruby better look out. Ultra-hot and steamy age gap, mountain man quickie with a side of danger and violence. Bring on that mountain man heat!
Audio: The narrators did a great job with this story. The audiobook uses two narrators, a male narrator and a female narrator – for me it makes such a difference to hear male dialogue with a male voice and female dialogue with a female voice. Patrick Zeller does an excellent job with the tone of voice he brings to Jack (a nice deep and growly voice) and other male voices, and Samantha Brentmoor a voice that seemed to capture her character.

An outstanding story about a woman who lost both of her parents at a young age who has to go to her father’s best friend for protection from a bunch of thugs.
She was young when her father, who was a Navy SEAL, died during a mission. After her father was gone her mother couldn’t go on so she committed suicide. So in her teens she was by herself trying to make it on her own.
The Navy SEAL who was the woman’s father’s best friend didn’t have anyone important in his life so he drank too much, smoked too much and found too much in cage matches. He thought he should have been the one to die all of those years ago instead of his friend who had a wife and child. With his age he never thought he would ever have that in his life.
When she gets to her apartment from work she sees something that she shouldn’t have seen. She gets chased through her apartment by a thug with a gun. She has to drive away from her apartment but the next morning she returns to a ransacked apartment. The girlfriend of the thug who had the gun tells her to run and go under the radar, she gives her some money but before she leaves she gathers the things of hers that no one took as well as a Christmas card in an envelope and a picture.
The Navy SEAL is at a bar for fight night. He has been drinking with a friend before he goes to the cage to fight a college kid. The college kid gets in a few good hits before he gets beat by the Navy Seal. The fights used to make him forget the loneliness of being by himself but it doesn’t work this time and the drinking isn’t cutting it either. He drives home and memories flood back, he thinks about ending it there but decides against it.
WHen he gets home a car is parked in front of his home. A woman gets out and he recognizes her and his best friend's daughter. He hugs her and takes her into his home, they talk for a bit and she tells him what happened, he tells her to stay. She has been wanting him ever since she was very young and when he saw her he knew she would be with him one day but it couldn’t happen since she was the daughter of his dead best friend. She got ready and went to bed hoping he would come to her room to take her but he didn’t even though he wanted too. That night he threw out all the alcohol, cigarettes and decided to stop fighting for her.
The next day they ate then went on a hike then he showed her how to axe at a target, after that they went to the local bar in the town at the foot of the mountain. She had beer and he had a soda, they talked and got to know each other better when an old schoolmate of the woman came up to her, she took a pic of them before heading back to her fiancé. They headed home when all of their feelings came out for one another, as he drove she gave him oral sex. They couldn’t wait any longer and at the bottom of the stairs he gave her oral sex after she recovered she turned up the stairs going into his bedroom. She told him about being a virgin, after she told him that the only thing he could think about was breeding her and her having his children. They have sex.
She wakes up in the morning and she’s terrified, she remembers the schoolmate taking the pic and what the thugs' girlfriend told her. She goes to the kitchen where the Navy SEAL is, asking to use his laptop when he agrees she goes to his office and looks on her social media page, the pic is there as well as her location. The Navy SEAL comes in and she tells him, he takes the laptop asking her to put a pic and a cation on her social media, she doesn’t want him to be in harm's way but he tells her that he’s there to protect her and he will tend to the thugs so he puts in on her social media. After they get everything tended to he takes her to the lodge in town.
At the lodge they have problems with some twins that are at the desk but the manager comes to their rescue even giving them a discount for the twins' rudeness. He takes her to the room and before he leaves they have sex. She’s so worried that she doesn’t get any sleep.
Early in the morning the thugs come for her at his home. He is hidden where they don’t see him. He takes out the thug who stayed at the vehicle, then he goes for the two who went to the back taking them out but one of them got a shot out so the other two knows that something happened. He takes out the other that is on the other side of his home. The main thug finally comes out of the home he gets some shots in but the Navy SEAL has on a bulletproof vest, before he kills the thug he finds out that no one else is looking for his woman.
Getting to the lodge he gets to the room and she opens the door, she leaps into his arms as they talk. He tells her what he did and about his friend helping him, she’s so grateful for what he has done for her but when she talks about leaving he informs her that he will stop her from leaving. They talk and then they start kissing as she pulls him into the bed.
Nine months later he’s driving as fast as he can to get her to the hospital before she gives birth to their baby, a baby girl. She has some contractions as he’s driving to the hospital but they get there just in time for her to have the baby. They couldn’t decide on a name before but now they picked one and all three of them are on the bed as a family. A family he never thought he would ever have. He has a new life and a new beginning with his family
Ten years later they looked out the window at their daughter throwing an axe at the target. They're so happy, they have three kids and he picks up the youngest. They talk about them being Navy SEALs one day. He winds up telling her about teaching their daughter years before to throw the ax. She has her soulmate and she’s happy because he will always be enough.
The characters are amazing, easy to read and a great page turner.

I agree, buddy. What the fuck. This was the toughest to read in this series. He's giant, 53, wins cage fights for fun. She's 22 (don't worry, the last time he saw her "She was sixteen at the time, but she looked as wise as an adult" 🤮) and his dead best friend's daughter. Also, he murders a bunch of people in this book? Really unnecessary
Another thing: it's fine to lean into the "small towns are great!!" schtick, but describing the city as the FMC does in the first chapter and as the MMC does as full of "all those freaks, perverts, and animals" and "a human circus" is just unpleasant. Lots about this book was unpleasant, honestly. Like even the twin receptionists at the lodge were unpleasant.

Ruby works two jobs and she has a custom sticker business. Ruby’s dad was a Navy SEAL who got killed in action and her mom died of suicide. Ruby is twenty-two and has been on her own for three years. As Ruby is coming home from her second job she is nervous when she finds out that the elevator is broken in her apartment building. She lives in a bad part of town. When Ruby gets to her door and getting her keys ready a door down the hall opens and a man runs out screaming. The occupant of that apartment Crenshaw comes out and shoots the running man. Ruby hurriedly opens her door and slams it in Crenshaw’s face. Ruby has to escape before Crenshaw breaks the door down. Ruby comes back when Crenshaw is gone and everything in her apartment is trashed or gone. Crenshaw’s girlfriend gives Ruby some money and tells her to disappear. There is only one person Ruby can think of who can save her, her dad’s best friend. Jack is an ex-Navy SEAL who was saved by his best friend Derek when a grenade was thrown at them. Jack fights at the monthly cage fights at The Cracked Barrel Saloon. Jack has always wished that he would have jumped on the grenade instead of Derek. Jack is fifty-three years old and lives alone on Greene Mountain. After the fight Jack comes home to see Ruby at his house. Jack can’t believe that she has come to his house and he is amazed by how much she has changed. Jack wants to be Ruby’s protector and her man but he has guilt in regards to Derek and the age difference. When Ruby told Jack about what happened at her apartment he tells her that he will take care of her. Ruby has always wanted to be with Jack and she saved her virginity for him. Will Jack finally tell Ruby that he wants to be with her? Will Crenshaw find Ruby? Will Jack protect Ruby? Will Jack and Ruby find love and happiness on Greene Mountain?

Spice upon spice. Loved it. After that she finds out one of her friends that she met took a picture of them together and posted it on Facebook and tagged her location which was one of the things Crenshaw’s girlfriend told her not to do and so she told Jack and he booked her into a lodge and killed Crenshaw and his men and after that she finds out she’s pregnant and now they have Amelia, James, and Max. His daughter is going to be one bad ass.

Cheers to a new addition from Olivia T. Turner's Greene Mountain Boys Series - Hiding Out In The Mountains!! This one is definitely more darker & violent than the normal OTT Stories. It is still the very sexy Insta-Love, Age-Gap you expect... just more themes. Ruby is the daughter of retired Navy SEAL Jack's best friend - Derek - who is also deceased. (Derek saved Jack's life at the ultimate cost of his own.) Jack is struggling in his life, making bad decisions - cage fighting, smoking & heavy drinking. Ruby is on her own, working multiple jobs, trying to launch her own business and living in a crappy apartment. She witnesses a murder in her hallway and becomes the hunted. She escapes to Greene Mountain - to Jack for protection. Jack instantly has a new focus in his life and quits all his bad habits. Jack & Ruby's attraction to each other is immediate...however we do see Jack resist it. He holds out for a bit...then deliciously gives in! 😏 AND the sex - always a pleasure to read and enjoy and imagine yourself participating in... (or is that only me...lol...) 🥵🔥💋 Without fail, we have Epilogues - which I love to read in stories.

The big trouble he wants her so badly, but he is his best friends daughter and off limits. Ruby has had a crush on him like forever. She does not care about the age difference. Will Jack put himself together and keep his babygirl save?
The rough and tough hero made me want to cry and laugh. When he makes avocado toast for Ruby, looking up what young people like. For me the little things often show so much.
