A very important book in understanding the thematic challenges facing private equity in emerging markets. It is important for PE investors who would like to invest capital in the region, and equally important for regulators to understand what changes are required to make the inflow of capital easier and more fluid.

I specifically enjoyed and found useful the chapters by Abdou & Moshiri, and the chapter by Wilton. Both were relevant to my line of research. The chapter by Banerjee was focused on the GCC and gave a very good overview of these markets.

A lot has changed since 2012, the year this book was published, and I hope the editor finds the time and effort to produce another version taking into account the changes in the market and the political dynamics of the world (Post Trump, post GCC fracture, post Arab spring). I also hope a dedicated book covers the GCC specifically highlighting the opportunities that are hidden within its social and economic fabric.

Finally, this book is a good guide for PEs that want to venture into emerging market, as it covers the legal, economical, cultural, and political environment of investing in this area.
