Quintus and his men are back in a thrilling adventure through Ancient Europe! For fans of Ben Kane, Conn Iggulden, Bernard Cornwell and Simon Scarrow.
Will Quintus and his comrades ever make it back to Rome…?
Julius Quintus Quirinius, Decanus of his contubernium, has failed in his mission to secure a bridgehead in Britannia for the emperor Augustus.
Despite their failure, they have collected valuable intelligence from the British tribes that they are keen to share with Augustus, hoping that will restore their reputation.
Together with his rescued comrades, Quintus flees the misted isle of the enemy and begins the long and treacherous journey home.
Once they locate the remnants of their cohort, Quintus is promoted to Optio and tasked with leading his men against rebel Germanic tribes.
Success could mean a fast route back to Rome and the favour of the emperor. But failure means an almost certain death.
When disaster strikes, can Quintus rescue the honour of Rome and lead the cohort to safety?
Or will the odds once more refuse to fall in their favour…?
OPTIO is the third book in the Quintus Roman Thrillers action-packed, authentic historical military adventures set in Ancient Rome.
THE QUINTUS ROMAN THRILLERS BOOK Legionary BOOK Decanus BOOK Optio
Having read books 1 and 2, this carries on the story at the same pace. Wonderful Characters and a great story, that keep you glued to every page. The best thing about this book, is that I finish it half a mile from the Appian way, in Rome. After visiting the Colliseum yesterday and the Forum and Paletine hill, I can imagine these brave brothers in arms finally reaching Rome and being hailed as heroes. I can't wait for book four.
Well written and engaging historical novel about life in a Roman legion. Interesting characters but not too many, and you get to relate to story which is fictional, but captures the spirit of the period. Reminds of some of the Bernard Cornwell novels.
I throughly enjoyed these 3 books in what I hope is a long series. While not exactly fast paced it is great story telling of what we think the 106 B.C. Era for Roman Legionnaires was all about.
Enjoyable yarn with some familiar and new characters. Roman politics and the desire for advancement provides a background to a normal soldiers life and sometimes death.
Neil Denby takes you back to the everyday life of a Roman fighting man in the 1st century C.E. You become a legionaire. Denby is magnificent. I'm on to Book Three! ,
After struggling at the beginning of book one all I can say is that it was worth it! Each book got better and better, I enjoyed following all the main characters and getting to know them more. The end of every chapter made it so difficult to take a break. I could happily read more about them and see what else they could all get up to.
