In 1899, Juniper St. James, a sorceress with a haunting past, finds herself entangled in a world of treachery as the enigmatic courtesan to the captivating vampire, Lucas Crawford, and his family, as known as the feared Fanged Four. Their reign of chaos has plunged Prague into turmoil, catching the attention of the power-hungry vampire king, Ezven, whose underground castle harbors secrets darker than the night itself. As the city teeters on the brink of an all-consuming vampire civil war, Juniper's heart is torn between her loyalty to Lucas and her growing affection for Kristoff Novak, a brooding vampire butler who yearns for a life beyond servitude. Their starcrossed love becomes a fragile thread woven through the tapestry of supernatural suspense and political intrigue, where alliances are forged and broken with a drop of blood. Amidst the cobblestone streets and mist-covered rooftops, Juniper must navigate the intricate web of vampire politics and unearth the truths hidden beneath centuries of deceit. The Fanged Four, long regarded as unstoppable, now face a nemesis who matches their ruthlessness. With Ezven's gaze fixed upon them, her powers as a witch are put to the ultimate test, and the fate of the city hangs in the balance. In "A City of Blood and Betrayal," urban fantasy meets alternative history, where the line between light and darkness blurs. As the clash of vampire titans threatens to consume them all, Juniper's journey unveils secrets that could shatter everything she holds dear. Will she emerge from the shadows unscathed, or will the allure of blood and betrayal prove too intoxicating to resist?

Formerly a mild-mannered librarian, she had a quarter-life crisis and shook everything up. She started working in an LGBT homeless center, shaved some of her head, and got really into tarot. After realizing that her goal in life was to get out of her small town and she only made it 30 minutes up the highway, she filled a bag and left. That was two years and a dozen countries ago.
A Witch Called Red is her debut novel and will be released on November 20th.
Yet again another fantastic book in this series. This series just gets better and better with each book and I could hardly put this one down. Shame I had to do adult stuff or I would have spent whole days just reading it!
So much went on and this time Kristoff really stepped up into his role. No longer is he willing to be the minion butler, but he stood on his own, away from his master and truly showed his feelings for Juniper this time. Juniper knows her time to getting close to a very important part of the vampires' history and she has to ensure that the timeline she knows is followed, but the vampires have their own ideas on what they want to do and where they want to go.
With secrets being revealed and hopefully kept, betrayals and a blast from the past returning, Juniper has her work cut out to just simply survive everything that is going on. And survive she does - she is such a determined strong-willed character and how she managed to stay sane in all the events in this book is beyond me. I would have given up on so many times before. Let's just hope that she can get through the next few months and that Tom can help where he can!
If you haven't read this series yet, I highly recommend it, but definitely start at the beginning! You won't be disappointed.
I received an ARC copy of this book, but this review is my own, honest one!
There were so many twists and turns in this one! The clan civil war has begun 😱 Juniper and the Byrnes family make new alliances with Queen Alzbeta and the alchemists against King Ezven, but everyone has an agenda of their own and nobody can be trusted. There are betrayals and double crosses, alchemists, witch hunters, Juniper’s sweet friend Tom Constantine, a certain Jesuit priest who just miiiight be a tiny bit important to a certain prophecy, and the evil warlock Maxwell Baldacci. OMG just wait until you read about what he does!
I loved everything Kristoff did for Juniper. I’m hoping she finds a way to end up with him, and that he finds her after she makes her escape. I’m dying to see how this all plays out, and the next book can’t come quickly enough! Highly recommend 😃
Wow! This is the 3rd book in the Juniper series and it keeps getting better! This time Juniper is still in Prague, but the King of the city wants his due. Alliances are formed with unlikely allies, both in plain view and behind other's backs. After a week of truce, at the Alchemists ball, the King strikes. Who will survive and who will die a final death? This is another book of slowly building up the story. There are some battles, but wow... there is a lot of blood and even more betrayal. I love getting to know Kristoff even more and also seeing more of his "demon side". You are also introduced to Alzbeta, Prince Marek and get to Nedda a little more as well. I love the subterfuge and how devoted Kristoff is. I can't wait for the next book!
I Love how Kristoff stepped up for Juniper, he proves his Love and Loyalty more each time. We all know that he loved her when he was human, but he still does. This one does have the right but unexpected ending. I will always Love Kristoff as her love interest, and his many heroic saves, even thought he is a vampire. This is another gripping story in this series and I Love each book more as the story continues! I Highly recommend!!! I received an ARC from the Author and I am Leaving This Totally Honest Review because I think that this is another Fantastic Story!!!
City of Blood and Betrayal by Sami Valentine Overall Score ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Heat Level 🔥🔥
How does each installment get better than the last?!?! I cannot get enough and the sexual tension between Kristoff and Juniper and hy cow there is soooo much of it. The action doesn't stop and you never know where the story will take you next!
Again like the other books in this series, there is a lot of action. Not everything goes as Juniper had planned, she is such a strong character I don’t think I would have survived half of what she has. And isn’t Kristoff a darling. I look forward to seeing if all Juniper’s plans turn out.
I ignored all responsibilities to read this book today. The twists and turns kept me from real life all day. The increased spiciness and the tension with between our protagonist and her suitor 🔥🔥 I can’t wait for book 4!
Holy crap on a cracker- things escalated quickly! Just as the title promises, this one is full of blood and betrayal. Poor Juniper doesn't know who to trust or turn to- but she knows the milestones she must hit to get back to her future
