It was supposed to be an ad to feed my fantasy. Maybe to even help heal my traumatic past. What I got instead was more than I bargained for.
I thought I found the perfect stalker. Rhett Rivera was what my dreams were made of.
But dreams don’t always last.
Secrets can destroy, and history doesn’t always stay buried. The deadly game we’ve manifested is in full swing and nothing…is as it seems.
**** This book is part of the first story in the In Another Life… series. This Pitch BlackHorror version of Seeking Stalker is a Standalone but BEST if you’ve read at least a few books in the Garden of the Gods series.
Series This is NEW concept in the book world. Each story in this series will contain 3 books, all with the same main characters. EACH single version book (one by Alaska Angelini, one by A. A. Dark) will be different from each other after the "split" point, and BOTH will be standalones. One book will be Dark Romance (Alaska Angelini). One book will be Horror. (A. A. Dark) BOTH versions will share the same characters but have different outcomes for them as a couple. You can get both books in the Combination Edition, or buy them as singles depending on your preference in genre.

Usually, I wait for a short period after reading a book to collect all my thoughts. But damn, my thoughts are shocked and all over the place. This story completely blew my mind, and it's freaking epic
I absolutely love Rhett. June puts an ad in her local Newspaper seeking a stalker. They own the Newspaper and come across her article. After Rhett looks up to June, he is instantly attracted to her. These two have an undeniable bond and chemistry together.
If you think you have it figured out, you don't. I knew it would have significant twists and darkness, and the author didn't disappoint. It did leave me wanting more, which is always a good thing in my book.

I read Alaska Angelini’s version of “seeking stalker” prior to this version by A.A. Dark, having experienced A.A. Dark’s penchant for horror in her previous works, I braced myself for a similar journey in this book. Because I was genuinely satisfied with the alternate version and its ending, I was intrigued with how A.A. Dark could incorporate her level of madness into June and Rhett's story. While not as deranged as I expected, this story still packs a punch with its dark twists and turns.
Aside from some minor editing hiccups and moments where pacing felt a little off, the plot more than made up for it.
Overall, I enjoyed this read, it was entertaining and provided a unique ride that catered to my mood at the time. I would rate this 3.5 stars rounding up to 4 stars solely for Elec’s character because he intrigues me and this is me hoping to see more of him in the future!
AA is a literary genius for this one - and I had no idea what trick was up her sleeve until I was done beta reading this master piece.
She literally gave us… TWO STORIES IN ONE. Want to read pitch black? Go the AA Dark way after chapter 8! Want to read “dark” romance? Go the Alaska way after chapter 8… 🤯🤯🤯🤯
She has once again found a way to blow my mind! I think I’m just getting a story bout two people who want certain things in their smex life… but I should’ve know being an AA Dark book that she would plot twist the heck out of me! 😈
June and Rhett are the epitome of the AA Dark world - and it was truly devastating to realize their fate or ending.
She also gives you more insight to a certain main master that we all love … 🤐🤐🤐
Here’s the thing about me. I have a - perhaps unhealthy - love of stalker dark romance. So when I started reading Seeing Stalker by A. A. Dark I was so amped up for what was to come. I mean, come on, with a name like that you just know I was sold on it instantly. Now here’s the other thing, as much as I love stalker romances, they have to be done right for me to really fall in love with them. And Seeing Stalker it just so happens ended up being one of those dark romances that absolutely blew me away and very much exceeded my expectations. I mean I thought it was going to be good, but even I wasn’t prepared for how much it actually turned out to be everything I wanted and so far beyond.
June and Rhett both were such fantastic characters that I was immediately intrigued by. There’s June, who has these forbidden desires she wants to indulge in, inviting in a stalker. Then there is Rhett, who takes her up on this offer despite his own misgivings of unleashing the beast he has for so long tries to contain. There’s his mysterious past that is hinted at throughout the course of the book that had me desperate to know his background and what had led him to the point in his life he is at, and the fear of who he has been and could be again. Together June and Rhett were impossible to turn away from. I started Seeking Stalker and could not stop until I turned the last page I was so sucked in to the story.
One of the things that pleasantly surprised me the most was how much I ended up loving some of the more secondary characters as well. I suspect the ones I loved are individuals we will see more of in future books, but the fact that they jumped off of the pages at me so vibrantly while playing such a small role in June and Rhett’s story really goes to show the masterful writing that takes place here. To counter this point, there’s also one character that I absolutely could not stand and just wanted to smack upside the head every time they were in a scene (you know who you are) and this was also just so perfect because that’s exactly how you should feel about the character. My point being that the emotions that just reading about this character on the page made me feel were so strong and so real that it just made this book even more immersive and perfect.
And the best part of Seeking Stalker? There are two options for readers. There’s the A. A. Dark Pitch Black version (see the authors ratings to understand where Pitch Black lies in terms of darkness) and there’s the Alaska Angelina version which is dark romance. I read the A. A. Dark version and am completely obsessed (perhaps stalking this book obsessed?) and I cannot wait to read the dark romance version now. Because you’d better believe I’m going to.
To sum it up, if you’re a fan of darker romance, please go out and pick this book up because it was just perfection and I now cannot get enough of it. I’m so excited to turn around and read the second version of Seeking Stalker now to see just how different it is because I am not ready to be done with this world and these two characters in particular. I can’t wait to see how their story goes in the other version because this one had me hooked.
Forget about Charlie’s Angels. This is the story of Elec and his growing army of powerful, influential, completely mindfucked women.
If you think this story is about Rhett and June, you’re wrong. Despite having his own POV chapters, Rhett is nothing more than a side character in the world Elec rules. It also made me realise how wrong the name Garden of the Gods is, because it should be God—singular.
Personally, I didn’t care much about June and Rhett. I lived for the insights into our favourite Main Master, and I’m beyond intrigued at the hints of the machine.
Who is Mistress 2? Who are the superiors? What did Elec do to Hale, and does he know?
I’m hooked. I’m addicted. I can’t get enough, and I really hope we get more info about Elec’s plans. If I was to hazard a guess, the devil is in the detail. And I don’t think Rhett has a long lifespan 😬
Guys. This was my top read of August 2023, my eyes were glued to these pages and the wild trip Alaska created. I was sucked in immediately from the first page!
Alaska never ceases to amaze with me with how she’s able to craft such psychologically compelling stories that keep you on your toes and second guessing everything. Because I’ve read some of her previous horror work I felt like I had an even better, more mind blowing experience. This was the perfect blend of horror with romance and I need more!
This book was everything I wanted from it. I went into it blind and I’m glad I did because there were things I never expected to come from it until I was already seeing them happen.
Now for a little snippet
June Matthew’s is becoming bored with her life and is looking for a little life brought back into her so what does she do? She places an anonymous Ad in her local newspaper with two words Seeking Stalker… the ad doesn’t say her name, gender, or anything specific to point her out, just a very busy location and time where she will be. She knows this is a dangerous game she is playing but she can’t help how thrilling it is at the same time. To have someone stalk her and take her however they want is doing things to her she never imagined possible.
Rhett Rivera runs the local newspaper (so you see where this is going) he should have never got the email about the suspicious ad but for some reason he did. The ad intrigued a part of him that he didn’t know existed, a part of him he had tried to keep deep inside of him in fear of whom he might become if he ever awoke that side of him. The ad was posted to be anonymous however, in order to place an ad you have to use a name and upon further research June Matthew’s was stunning in every way possible to Rhett. So he begins. He doesn’t need the location and time because he now knows everything about June including where she lives. He just wants to check it out and then he will leave June alone because he can’t become that person. But even fate can’t stop the pull he has to her
I read this as part of the Beta read, and I haven't read the final/finished copy yet.
BUT THE BETA BOOK WAS BEYOND INCREDIBLE. I couldn't put it down and I was on the edge of my seat the whole entire time.
My favorite part about this AA Dark world, is they are all some how combined. I am very firm on the order I recommend the books in, and this one is no different. I would recommend reading the Garden of the God's at least some of them, to understand the world and what is happening.
The way this started was really cool, I mean completely and utterly insane, but so on brand. I really really liked June. June was such a bad ass, strong FM.
SPOILERS BELOW . . . . . .
Rhett?? Oh dear lord I love that man. (Still love Elec more) but like...two completely UNHINGED men in one story combined!!! I FREAKED when he appeared and oh my god it just kept getting better. You get to really experience what happens to the women who are programmed by Elec and see it for how truly horrific and terrifying it is. I still have soooo many questions on the pure manipulation abilities that Elec possesses, and how Rhett was easily manipulated/controlled by them as well. I mean the carving of June into his skin?!?! I hated that but loved it so much. Like it was pure wtfness but it was so perfect and really painted the picture for what was going on. Just like all the other books, I am hooked and need more. I love this world so much.
Alright. Holy crap. I knew I was going to enjoy this book, because I enjoy everything that Alaska releases- but June & Rhett’s story was positively exceptional.
It was such a unique meeting between these two. The fact that Rhett found her because of an ad in his paper was just the coolest to me. (& when we find out later the WHY of how they actually met.. chefs kiss)!
The absolute feral-ness that Rhett portrays over June was swoon worthy. I’m a sucker for an obsessive stalker man.
Now; ELEC. Elec. You did not have to make me fall in love with you that hard. I swear, I did not see that one coming. I am so ready for more of what is hopefully to come of these three. Like, I am desperate for more. As soon as a closed the book I was aching for more of it.
Highly recommend this story! And everything else Alaska writes, to be honest. 🫶🏻🖤
I felt the AA Dark version was more fleshed out than the Alaska version for the story but less on character background. I am always going to prefer the pitch black or oblivion read but this time I preferred the other version more than this one for being more balanced with closure. Although, I was sorely missing GotG in the Alaska version.
So I understand after I finished both books in 24 hrs, you can’t have it all. I love the concept of choose your own adventure and I definitely got the two stories and enjoyed the differing perspectives of the characters. The character building was more focused on Rhett in this version where June is in the Alaska version.
I think reading only one version without the other is a disservice to the characters but they can be read alone and still get the jest. Both have positives and problems but I appreciate the attempt.
The characters were well developed and interesting. The spice level was second to none, and the darkness was just right. Everything that happened worked to further the story, and was not added, for the sake of titillation or shock value, and it was extremely well written.
And the ending? OMG, I can’t even explain how shocked I was…. Almost threw my device in surprise.
Please, definitely read some of the Garden of the Gods novellas to be able to really appreciate what happens, but it’s not 100% necessary. It just makes the story that much more mind blowing.
If you read anything this year, make it Seeking Stalker… you won’t be disappointed
Oh boy, where to begin. That story took a turn with some characters that I wasn't expecting but feel that I should have expected them. Talk about scary and informative all at once. I learned so much about one character in particular. It's all starting to piece together now. IYKYK. This version is MUCH different than the Alaska version. This version is a great story just MUCH darker. The pitch black category suits. Rhett and June are thrown into some hard situations and definitely earn their ending. Or did they?
I love a good stalker book and when I found out that one of my favourite authors was writing this genre I was beyond excited.
We are given the insight into both the main characters thoughts and their motivation behind their behaviours but just when you think you know it all A. A. Dark throws in the biggest curve ball and in an instant, BOOM, the plot thickens and it hit all the right spots.
WOW. I feel like I just got mind fucked by a certain Main Master just by reading. I feel like I need to talk to someone that’s read the other books and just have a whole ass- “omg wtf did I just read” moment. IN THE VERY BEST WAY! If you’ve been a fan since Whitlock this just continues to get better. Can it be read as a standalone? I guess ✨technically✨but if you’re committed to the whole storyline it’s worth starting from the beginning bc I think it is a fucking master piece.
I loved everything about this story except the ending. Damn, I really thought June's mind was strong. I was so sure that she was going to put Elec in his place and just tell the whole "world" what he did. The little secret he was making her keep. But nope, didn't happen. I wanted some REVENGE for what he did to her. Accident or not. He should have serious repercussions, loss of limbs or future heirs. I wanted Rhett to take his pound of flesh and then some. But sadly, didn't happen.
While this can be read as a standalone, it definitely connects into the GotG and Whitlock universe. Each book I read by A.A. Dark, I feel like I can’t love it anymore and then I get to the next book. This book is SO good, and truly just confirmed that Elec is every bit the evil dude I knew he was. I’m so sad I only have one published book left in this universe. A.A. is truly amazing and has cemented herself as my new favorite author. Not sure what I’m going to do with my life once I’m done.
Hold on….let me pick my jaw up off the floor first!
What an incredible story from start to finish! It grips you in the beginning with the plot, hooks you with the characters and then puts you in an absolute chokehold with all the events that transpire!!!
I have read so many A.A. Dark books and this one is definitely one of my favorites to date!
I’m sorry, but I really wanted to like this book. How could you let the supposedly love of your life get tortured because you decided you wanted revenge over the love of your life. Not only that, but when he found out that Elec kill his baby he didn’t do anything about it. How can you act “badass” when you can’t even protect the love of your life.
Oooooooohhhhh i did not see how this was going to play out .... the gasp i let out when i moved over to pitch black and i figured out what was happening!!
I'm not sure I have words for this one. It was dark and yummy lol and it gave us insight into more Elec..... this story just keeps building and I'm here for it all the way! I'm not sure what I was expecting goin into this one but it definitely wasn't that awesomeness! Well done as always 👏
This book was yet another amazing story in the "Gardens of the Gods world". I enjoyed every moment of getting to know 'Rhett and June' they have become one of my favorite couples in this world, however I will always be partical to 'Bram and 'Everleigh. I also liked getting to know more about Matthew and the sinister, menencing 'Elec Wexler'. If you've read any of the 24690: Whitlock series, Garden of the Gods novellas, Red Island, and this book, then you understand the build up surrounding these characters and"Elec Wexler'. I don't know what A.A. Dark is planning within this world going forward, but whatever it is, it's going to be BIG!!! And I'm gonna be here for it!
I definitely recommend this series to anyone who enjoys the dark genre beyond the norm.
I gobble up all this author’s works. This was as usual a very interesting story. I dropped a star because for me it seemed like a step in the story of Elec rather the MCs. That’s not bad as he is a captivating character. I wish there had been more clarity on that in the blurb.
I don’t have any words to describe my feelings now. I was unsure how the characters can have a full another story.. but yeah they had. It was another dark level that I imagined and the ending… I don’t know what to feel. I would say, I would prefer the Seeking Stalker book1. Now, I think we were prepared enough for a full series on Elec!!!!
This book had me on the edge of my seat. Halfway through I squealed at the treat we were given. I can't wait for what's to come! The pieces are all coming together, you don't want to miss out.
