I am more financially literate than most, so I found some of the sections a bit lighter than I personally would have wanted. With that being said, I think this is a really friendly intro to money management. I especially appreciated the sections on financial trauma, financial abuse, and planning for multigenerational wealth (and supporting family members) as these are all immigrant trends that hit home for me. I also really appreciated the boxes with speaking points on how to bring the topics up with loved ones.

If the chapter names don’t hint at how real and relatable the information is, I don’t know what to tell you. The personal anecdotes and real-life examples to illustrate financial concepts, make them easy to understand and apply. Whether you're just starting your financial journey or looking to enhance your existing knowledge, this book meets you where you are with practical advice and actionable steps.
So many topics were covered in this book.
From budgeting and saving to investing and building wealth. Using clear language and engaging explanations, Jannese breaks down complex ideas into manageable chunks. Readers will not only learn how to create a budget that works for their lifestyle, but how to increase your income potential and protect that money in your relationship.
I appreciate the focus on mindset and behavior. Jannese emphasizes the importance of understanding one's relationship with money and making intentional choices that align with financial goals. Even more beautiful and meaningful is that “Financially Lit” doesn’t shy away from the cultural piece that many first-gen Latinas have to navigate. This book is a gem! A must read for all first-gen Latinas. I felt seen and heard through this book. Janesse breaks down step-by-step how people like me and you can start to unpack our financial trauma and get to actually keep our dinero. In each chapter of Financially Lit, Jannese’s helps me build my confidence in managing my money, business and give me steps on how to achieve Financial Independence so I can retire myself and my husband early and spend time doing more things we love.
I highly recommend this book as it will help you take control of your money and build and heal your money mindset.
As a first gen Latina I never had anyone to guide me in most of these investing topics covered in the book until I read this book.
You will find our story as Latinas navigating money in this book and it will give you perspective that will help you be the one in your family to build generational wealth!

Wow is this book a necessity in every First Gen who is looking to build her wealth. The author breaks down certain traumas that our communities face and how that can affect us financially. Knowing this information is critical in financially healing and betterment. This book pairs so well with Giovanna Gonzalez's "Cultura and Cash: Lessons from the First Gen Mentor for Managing Finances and Cultural Expectations". Please do yourself a favor and get both books!

As a first-generation Latina, this is an excellent read. Jannese's experience is similar to what many others have lived through with the advice and money insecurity that first-generation Americans are brought up with. Her advice is great for breaking the mentality that has been instigated due to certain defining experiences that don't necessarily represent how we should be saving, investing and spending our money.

This book is a wonderfully practical guide to finance. Jannese approaches topics with a no-nonsense attitude, which is the big thing that hooked me to her in the first place, and gives her extensive experience voice for both those who have an idea of what they're doing with their money and those who are just starting out. Highly recommend this read for everyone!

I really enjoyed this book! It felt like talking to a friend who actually gets what it’s like to deal with money stuff, especially from a cultural perspective. It made finances feel less scary and way more doable. Super easy to read, super encouraging, and it gave me a few mindset shifts I really needed. Definitely recommend it if you want to feel more in control of your money.

Like a journal for your financial journey! I recommend listening to her podcast before/while reading the book so you get a true feel of this author. Feels like she’s there with you while you read and explains it directly to you. If a workbook ever comes out of this, I’m getting it too.

I am so glad this book exists that said I really need more finance books from latina's that are less 101. I am glad we covered so many ways of conquering debt!! Great for folks getting their feet wet with getting their finances in order.
