Yup. I've spent a lot of my life as a fat guy. The Atkin's diet seemed to be one of those diet programs that was successful for a lot of people. I would see friends on this diet plan that lost amazing amounts of weight quickly. They ate meat and cheese while doing so and avoided carbs. Meat and cheese are two of my favorite foods, so I jumped on board. As a result, I did lose some weight. My digestive system, however, was not a happy camper. Also, too much of a good thing, I dreaded meal time where I'd choke down more protein with no carbs. I'm Italian, so life without pasta was dreadful.

Like many diet programs, this one has been cited for long-term health issues and yo-yo dieting. The book is fine, it's the concept that is a problem. A balanced diet and exercise doesn't sell books, but it does help you lose weight.
