LEGACY is the story of billionaire Claude Dumont, whose intensive investments in genetic research have led to breakthroughs in human gene editing. Though he understands the world is not ready to use his technology to enhance human embryos, he does do favors for trusted, privileged friends. The resulting offspring are remarkable, but for one family things go terribly wrong. The mother of twins is convinced that their health problems were the result of gene tampering. An enterprising investigative reporter becomes curious about Dumont and starts contacting families in Dumont's orbit with older fathers and exceptional children. The mother starts to cooperate with the reporter, who confronts Dumont and mysteriously disappears. Working with the reporter's friend, his devoted intern, and a specialist in genetics, the mother pieces the facts together at great peril. Ultimately, she learns Dumont's shocking secrets and exposes his crimes.
