This series…another visit to Truelove, NC is what anyone and everyone needs. In Falling for Her Best Friend, author Lisa Carter gives us the story of Mollie Drake (Mollie Atkinson now) and Colton Atkinson.
Best friends from childhood, these two have always had a special connection. Not wanting to ruin their friendship, they made a pact years earlier to stay only in the friend zone and venture no further.
The widower father was about to deploy with no family to take his baby son, so they married quickly for Oliver’s sake. But could there have been other reasons? Reasons they couldn’t admit to themselves, let alone each other? It’s so fun to see the Double Name Club, Truelove’s meddling matchmakers with heart, in action. Combine their efforts with the Lord’s will, and there’s no obstacle that can’t be overcome!
I gobbled this one up in one day, and I’m sure you will, too!

I really enjoyed this book! I liked the characters and the story! I will recommend to my fellow book friends!

i'm between 2 & 3 stars on this one... the trope was super fun and interesting (Colton is a soldier who was deployed without warning first. There's a marriage of convenience for the sake of his son, Oliver.. so that he would have a guardian if Colton died in the war), but that's about all this book has going for it.
This book is VERY redundant, the important and cutesy scenes are sped through way too quickly to be enjoyable, and Colton is just too mean and whiny the whole time towards Mollie.
Colton is just a whiny turd. 😡
You obviously LOVE MOLLIE, so QUIT TREATING HER LIKE TRASH!!!! You can tell how much love and care she's given your son; man up and show her some love (the love that you've always had for her)!!
I also don't appreciate Mollie's parents... especially her Dad. They got so mean and annoyed when they found out Mollie married Colton just for the sake of his son Oliver, and that was SO uncalled for. The whole book they talk about how much they love their daughter, then when she needs them the most, they yell at her and force Colton to move out from the house he's sharing with Mollie and Oliver (like THAT'LL HELP ANYTHING!!!). They literally arenliving together just fine (& Colton never did anything inappropriate, either: they had separate bedrooms), so why force them to move apart and ruin the stable home they've created for Oliver?
The parents' actions don't make sense.... especially when they say in the next chapter, "we always knew you both loved one another; it's clear to anyone who sees the way y'all act around each other"! THEN DON'T BE MEAN TO THEM! What the heck. Pick a side and stay on it.
I'm glad Mollie finally dumped Colton and said "if we can't be more than friends, we can't just be friends anymore"... because Colton was just using her.
The ending was good, but the dang group of old "matchmaking" ladies was A-NNOY-INGGGG! Go home, honestly. "The Double Name Club"?? What the heck does that even mean? 🤨😐
I will say there were a few (emphasis on FEW) cute scenes between Colton and Mollie, but there could've been wayyyyy more, and the book shouldn't have been so much about the random people in this small town.
There were so many missed opportunities with this, romantically.... there could've been way more hints of love, looks of longing, I don't know... ROMANCE!! I was left wanting more between them. Colton could've stepped up and done more for her to show his love, even if he wasn't 100% sure that they could be a good couple. He was just whiny and in denial the whole time.
Colton's son Oliver was written in pretty well; surprisingly well. Children usually aren't in these Love Inspired novels. I like how he loved Mollie for real and called her Mommy.

I love Lisa Carter’s books! She writes such heartwarming stories that have me laughing out loud one minute and tearing up the next! We return to Truelove, North Carolina, where the Doublename Club are up to their matchmaking skills once again.

An enjoyable modern marriage of convenience story. I loved the antics of the matchmaking women attempting to give the newlyweds a heavy dose of romance. Mollie was awesome in her devotion and kindness. Sometimes I wanted to shake some sense in Colton who struggled to accept Mollie’s friendship and love. A minor thing I struggled with was that the revelation of their true marriage state caused some people to over-react. The town setting was interesting, and many secondary characters made me want to read the older books in the series.

I really enjoyed this story. Best friends in a marriage of convenience with each trying ro figure out what to do; if they stay together or go separate ways. We'll written characters with an interesting plot. I really enjoyed the Double Name Club are my favorite side characters and make the story have a bit more fun to it.

Well, this was a good read. Colton and Mollie had a wonderful story. Now, the double name club women were something special. Just was a sweet, and easygoing story. It’s justified how you should treasure people everyday and don’t be afraid to love.

June 14, 2024Very good story line, but could have used an editor. In several places, there were simple errors that a junior high student would have known had errors like sentences with repeated words or phrases which made reading it somewhat difficult.

Ignore the title and the cover looking so cheesy. I did not expect this story to be this good and I’m pleasantly surprised. There were so many little details that the author wove together in such a sweet way.
