In a world gone mad, one family must fight to stay together…
Laurel and her husband Bear have defied the odds, reuniting in the chaos of a world shattered by an EMP. But their family will not be whole until they find their daughter, Mae, a sergeant in the US Army.
Tracking her down means leaving the refuge of the hospital, and venturing into a deadly no-man’s land ruled by violent paramilitary groups. Caught in a war between the Militia and the Freemen, the fractured family must choose a side, or die.
Mae has been drawn into the same conflict, and struggles with her divided loyalties. Like Lauren and Bear, she too must face mortal danger and impossible choices, as the bonds of family are stretched to the breaking point.
When a strange illness strikes the Freemen, Laurel returns to the hospital for vital medical supplies. She finds the building in ruins, and the remaining survivors locked in a battle to survive.
Meanwhile, faced with certain defeat, Bear agrees to help the Freemen fight one last, desperate battle. The enemy has overwhelming firepower, but Bear knows there is only one way to keep his family safe…
The Militia must be destroyed. No matter the cost…
Grace Hamilton is the prepper pen-name for a bad-ass, survivalist momma-bear of four kids, and wife to a wonderful husband. After being stuck in a mountain cabin for six days following a flash flood, she decided she never wanted to feel so powerless or have to send her kids to bed hungry again. Now she lives the prepper lifestyle and knows that if SHTF or TEOTWAWKI happens, she’ll be ready to help protect and provide for her family.
Combine this survivalist mentality with a vivid imagination (as well as a slightly unhealthy day dreaming habit) and you get a prepper fiction author. Grace spends her days thinking about the worst possible survival situations that a person could be thrown into, then throwing her characters into these nightmares while trying to figure out "What SHOULD you do in this situation?"
It’s her wish that through her characters, you will get to experience what life will be like and essentially learn from their mistakes and experiences.
This boxset contains books four to six of the EMP Aftermath series, with Dr Laurel Rivera and her estranged husband Bear Peterson finally reunited, but still facing danger on all sides as they try to find their daughter who was with the Military before the EMP hit, before hopefully returning to Bear’s isolated cabin to live all together. They leave South Minneha Hospital with young Trent and Bear’s dog Jess, after Laurel’s mother finally succumbs to her illness, to be reunited with Mae, if they can find her alive. But nothing is ever simple and they have left the safety of the hospital to a world now filled with armed foes everywhere and must face the clash between the Militia and the Freemen, who are vying for control now society has fallen. Laurel doesn’t quite know how she feels about Bear now, as he had left her to live alone a year before the EMP, and she wasn’t sure how they would mix now. Bear’s problems with his hearing are still there, now even wore without his hearing aid, which he hated. Bear has always loved Laurel, but they have to figure out how their feelings for each other will work in this new world. Can they even manage to get Mae to go with them? Mae is now part of the Militia, following her former commanding officer, but the rules of engagement have shifted and not all of his decisions match her morals. When they do find Mae, they may not exactly like how she reacts to their presence!
When Laurel and Bear find Mae at last, he reunion is not quite what they expected and loyalties are about to be tested. They get separated and Mae is injured, being taken in by the Freemen and on her return to the Militia has her loyalty questioned and she and another young recruit are tested to ensure they are still loyal to the militia. The testing even sees Mae hold a gun on her own father! The Militia and the Freemen are battling for control of a certain warehouse in town, which holds a large amount of supplies, but also something far more dangerous in the wrong hands. Bear and Trent are prisoners of the Militia under Captain Cornell and he seems to have it in for Mae, sending her first into all the most dangerous missions, hoping to see her fail. When Bear falls ill, he is just one of many in both the militia and freemen camps who does so. Laurel is with the freemen and figures out it might be deadly and connected with some sort of water contamination. Both camps blame the other and Cornell seems to think that because Mae’s mother is a doctor, that she somehow has lots of medical experience and knowledge and sends her in to care for the sick and dying with little to no supplies of any kind! Neither group sees to realise that if they continue to fight each other, there may be no one left, and they need to solve this water situation and fast. We get to see the real cruelty of Cornell and a hint of the much bigger picture the militia are part of, which will lead pretty much back to the hospital and more danger for all involved.
Bear and Trent are finally reunited with Laurel and Mae, but they all know the militia must be stopped. Plans that Captain Cornell’s superior General James Bruce has, deal with weapons of mass destruction and an old crop dusting type of plane that still works, that he would use to destroy all opposition that disagree with his world view! Train lines that go past South Minneha Hospital are key to their plans and place all those Laurel left behind in serious danger. Bear wants to return to his isolated cabin with his family, but Laurel insists on checking on her friends she left behind at the hospital in South Minneha, only to find the numbers vastly depleted and conditions diabolical. Laurel and the Freemen group need to rest, but the hospital no longer feels like a safe place to do so anymore. But those at the hospital refuse to leave, believing they are safe now the local militia has been disbanded. They couldn’t be more wrong! News of a group from the militia heading their way, looking to use an old fashion form of transport to move some heavy duty weapons to the main militia base, it looks like their days to rest are over. They need to do something to stop these weapons being used against them or other innocent groups of survivors just trying to live peacefully. They are going to have to fight again and against a much bigger force this time, but first they must ensure everyone is on the same page and they can work together. Some might be reluctant but events will happen at the hospital making it clear it isn’t a safe haven any longer. They are going to take the fight to the enemy in an unexpected move, which will hopefully allow them an element of surprise and the chance to cut the head off the snake that is this militia. Some very trying and dangerous times to come for them all and no one will come out of it untouched. A finale filled with danger and confrontation, with sacrifices having to be made for eventual success. Those that survive know they must adjust to this new way of life and use old methods to replace medicines and other supplies they may need.
Great to finally reach the conclusion of the series and each book ramped up the action and danger as it went on. Family struggles and feelings are nothing compared to what they all have to deal with just to survive after the EMP, and facing off against dangerous foes. Most people were out for themselves, so it was nice to see the Peterson extended family coming together and getting to finally reach their goal at the end. Always a good read and something to look forward to, but this adventure has come to an end at last. I received an ARC copy of this boxset from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the books above.
Divided World Bk4: Laurel and Bear are back in book four of the EMP Aftermath series. I definitely recommend you start reading this series from book one so you fully understand what the characters have been through. If you have ever read a Grace Hamilton book then you know what to expect as she gives the readers realistic and gripping it could really happen scenarios and this book does exactly that. From the captivating storylines and descriptive writing to the believable characters, danger, and unexpected twists this series is page turning. The cliffhanger ending has left me ready for book five Collapsed World. Collapsed World Bk5: Collapsed World is book five of the EMP Aftermath series and it picks up where book four Divided World left off. With each book we read in this series Bear, Laurel, and the rest of the group are challenged time after time but they must do what they can to survive the aftermath. Faced with their daughter's dangerous choices Laurel and Bear are determined to win Mae back. This is a well written, page turning story that held me captive for two days until I finished the book and now I wait for the final book in this series to find out how it ends. Lawless World Bk6: Bear, Laurel, Trent, and Mae are reunited only to find out they have one more epic battle left and they join with the Freemen against the Militia. Great writing, danger, nail biting suspense, unexpected twists, and well developed characters make this a great read. I am completely captivated by this author's writing and I look forward to reading her next series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Well Worth the Time to Read 3 Full-Length Books at Once! I have been a fan of Grace Hamilton for a while. My first experience with her writing was the first book of this series and I had it on my list of series to continue, so when this opportunity arose to review the last 3 books of the series I eagerly bought books 2 & 3!
Books 4-6 do a great job of following the main characters in their adjustment to their new after-EMP world. The main characters grow and expand as individuals, there are many returning characters and new characters to get to know. In a long series like this you often wonder what became of some minor characters encountered, but Grace Hamilton does a great job of drawing them back in and fulfilling their story as well.
The story line is engaging, believable and keeps you reading far longer than your waiting chores would like! There are clear lines drawn between good and bad, in fact the “bad” characters are often given the chance to realize what they are doing and join the good side.
Being the second half of a 6 book series I am not sure if it could be read as a stand alone, but I think it would be doable. Definitely better if you read the whole series tho! Definitely recommend this book, series and author!
I was given this book for free and am now leaving my voluntary and honest review of the book.

The last three books of the EMP Aftermath. So much action, suspense, intense fighting, trusting, learning to trust again, love, and victory. Bear and Laurel work their way to another sweet life together. Learning to trust each other and have the other's back. They find their daughter, Mae, but it takes her some time to see the truth of what the Militia was planning to do to the people who didn't join their cause. Mae struggles but ends up going with her parents and Trent, who her father has bonded with. Mae and Trent finally start to establish a relationship as brother and sister. Mae is finally forced to see Gideon for the man that he is. Bear, Laurel, Trent, and Mae agree to help the Freemen fight one last battle and take out General Bruce and his followers once and for all. I loved this whole series and the final ending of the book was an intense explosion of action. Don't miss this series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I can't seem to get enough of this author's post-apocalyptic stories, the characters are all relatable, flaws and all. I must admire Mae took some getting used to. I didn't like her at all at first. Trent was a darling, funny and annoying at the same time. And of course Papa and Mama Bear were great too. I'll definitely be reading more of this author's book.
