This was a Fun book of various Disney information. From the theme parks to the movies it has a bit of everything in it. I love these types of books that I refer to as “useless information” 😊 a must read for Disney and trivia fans
This was a book that was passed onto me since it was driving my niece up the wall in a sense that she was struggling to finish it. As a result I told her mother to pass it onto me just to see what could be the reason behind it.
Awesome Facts for Disney Fans first of all is hodge-podge of Disney information thus combining information about some of the parks (mainly the two major American ones), the production of said films while including Pixar, information about Walt Disney or very rarely some of the voice actors along with information about the films as well as some of the big animated characters. As a result the book doesn't focus a lot on any one subject but rather bounces around while being quite repetitive in some of the facts although twisting about at the very last second to add something newish at the end of a repeated sentiment.
To be absolutely honest I feel like the book should have been organized into one major facet such as Awesome Facts of Animated Films for Disney Fans as well as Awesome Facts of Disney Theme Parks for Disney Fans as there is plenty of information to make a whole book out of either subject while at the same time allowing readers to have more of what they want to learn while avoiding subjects that may not interest them as much.
Furthermore the way the book is set-up the reader to be addressed is rather more modern as well as the younger generation since instead of looking into some of its older films the book focuses heavily on the Disney Princess franchise when it does films or even the Pixar films. And strangely enough Merida and Raya have been given places of honor with the line-up, which I hadn't seen in any of the current line-ups so I may not be heeding as much. At the same time there is very little mention of any of the live-actions thankfully or even any of the Disney cartoons although one occasion in which there was any mentioned Disney channel movies the oldest one was High School Musical thus again leaving a great source untapped.
As for the facts within the book the reader will find that the so-called "secret" knowledge isn't really that secret if you are a Disney fan or one who taps into Disney theories that are put out there. Other "secret" information is just basically information about movies so old that basically almost no one really remembers them anymore since they don't seem to be in circulation anymore most likely thus aren't pushed by the monopoly that controls it now.
The information was so-so and basically follows Disney's way of making claims although being wrong of their own claims since of the lack of specificity such as claiming Tiana was the first colored princess (maybe animated, Brandi played Cinderella at one point in very racially diverse cast) or even stating that Pocahontas is the only Disney princess with tattoos when Kida from Atlantis can also be seen with such but then again her movie was a flop so she doesn't count as far as they go.
As a result this book may be an interesting read to those who were raised on Disney Renaissance films but you can find the information much more freely available online and with rather more interesting rabbit tracks if you don't mind internet deep dives.
Interesting, good read while waiting for rides at Disney because it’s easy to pick up and put down. There isn’t organization or categories to the facts, just lots of random and short segments. I think the longest ones were still just one page. I’d recommend for Disney fans.
Overall I enjoyed this book but I had two problems with it. One- the facts were not organized in any way, movies, parks, all the trivia was tossed into the book. Two- sometimes Disney World and Disneyland were mixed up.
This book was fun to read before I went to Disney World. I learned a lot of fun facts and was able to observe some of the fun things I learned while at Disney.
